I loved this story, it was a great variation on the Sliding Doors theme. One single decision and two vastly different results. It was great fun to see the two threads slightly overlap or brief glimpses of the other timeline appearing in the existing one.
So the main decision is: following a manifestation session in which Becca says her goal is to find Mr Right, she receives a text message from her ex-boyfriend Mike, the one who got away. Her decision is whether she should reply to the text, or, block his number and leave things be.
So the story splits. 'Yes, she Texts back' and ends up meeting up with Mike and rekindling their old romance, enjoying having him back in her life, reconnecting with his family and being welcomed back into the fold. Before long, she and Mike are back where they are, and heading closer to the happy ever after Becca was dreaming of.
Alternatively, 'She Doesn't Text Back' and she attends a party where everyone brings someone they wouldn't date themselves and meets a younger man, author Noah Brooks and enters into a whirlwind, walking on clouds, romantic relationship with him and within a short amount of time she's head over heels and also heading towards a happy ever after.
So which of the Mr Rights is the real deal and which is destined for heartbreak? The answer was not what I was expecting at first and I had my favourite of the two men until things started changing and twisting and the ending was perfect,
I loved the side story of Jia-Li and her unplanned pregnancy as well. She was such a good friend and confident to Becca and Becca in turn was a great support to Jia-Li throughout her pregnancy in both timelines, as it played out slightly differently depending on who Becca was dating,
My only niggle on this book was the fact it was written in the third person and I'm so used to the first person these days, so that took a while to get used to.
