There's a prison in my town. A rugged place, good girls should stay away from but not me. I'm there for my internship. To study, to learn...but my focus isn't on my work. It's on him. Giggs Buchanan is one of the inmates at the penitentiary. We share a secret. And the secret is that I don't belong to a good guy. I belong to a rough criminal.
An all-consuming passionate romance between the prison's intern and the inmate. Not gonna spill too much on the plot, but this one was not something too taboo nor had triggers inside. Definitely not an instalove but it had all the smuttiness and sexy built up from the start. Ever was really good at writing two MCs with so much possessive streak and non-sensical love line.
The only downside was we just got a glimpse of how they first met that led to the climax and the details of the ending; not that the ending was not satisfying. It's guaranteed HEA, but it could give us more if not for the lack of details. Anyway, I was always satisfied reading Ever's twisted romance, where both characters were over-possessive and obsessive lovers.
Virgin h No condoms No drama/angst No cheating Safe read, HEA, epilogue Overall rate: 3.5 hot romance stars.
Ok my Ever Lilac binge is officially over 😭 (for now 🤡).
I've had so much fun going through these novellas, and trust me when I say that they were an experience.
ER's writing sort of confuses me because her stories are so different, and in some cases can be a bit TOO goofy (even for me). But all in all, they're great for some low-commitment reads.
I didn’t love this as much as some Ever Lilac stories, but it was still good. There’s a lot of story in the beginning, building up to where our couple will finally be together. There was a lot of things working against them so it’s a little hard to believe it all worked out for them. I felt like there was a big buildup until the moment they are reunited, then they are together forever and nothing ever comes of the complicated storyline. Short & sweet is good, I guess I felt like it could be a little less complicated story and maybe a bit more sweet and steamy time together. There were too many characters introduced (jail guards, prison director, bff, nosey neighbors) and too much happens (personal history between characters, writing letters, her college degree, internship, cell mate conflict, sent to solitary, knocks out a guard, taken on a bus to new prison, jailbreak, news broadcasts, spying on her, avenging her, neighborhood party, bff conversation, nosey neighbors become aggressive) then they leave together and… epilogue 2 years later. What? Why all the story & buildup then, HEA. Ok. Just felt a little story heavy in the beginning with a super fast wrap up.
That being said, it was a cute premise and I like the personal connection (they actually met before he went to prison). I felt like story could have been simplified to his early release and HEA instead of full on jailbreak, lol.
Solid 3 stars. I enjoyed this, it reminded me of caught by the convicts by jessa kane and welcome to the dark side by Giana Darling, it was sort of a mix between the two in a novella format. The MMC is an inmate, previously has saved the FMC when she was 17 from assault was it? And since it was a police officer who assaulted her, Griggs went to prison for it.
She had been obsessed with him and him her, ever since and this is sort of their romance 2 years before he is released from prison but there is a twist.
I loves the story and the couple. Wish they could have gone somewhere that wouldn't care who he was so they could go out in public together. But I guess he's perfectly fine with only her around. And needs nothing else.
the only reason I gave this 3 star was because it was too short😔.I needed more of the chapters! It was rushed and had no build-up.Majority of the info/details were missing and it could be seen in the paras and overall book.Still a cute short read with decent 🌶️
It’s an okay read, but it’s so rushed with the concentration on the wrong things. There are chapters that needed more information and then there were paragraphs that, I felt, could have been removed very easily. There is a lack of story build up and the heroine came across to me as a child, even though she is studying criminal psychology and is an adult
Porsha has been writing letters to Gerald, and she comes to visit him as an intern so that she can talk to him and that is how their relationship develops.
Gerald has been in prison for a few years for defending her in the first place, and in just another year, he will be out. They both area waiting to start their relationship.
“I’ll knock on her door and if she’s kind she’ll let me in. First thing I’ll do is look up a girl whom I think about day and night.”
But he gets in trouble at the prison defending her honor and things so worse. And keep going downhill from there. It’s a short, but rushed story that could have been better.
