This book is AWESOME. Every story is good.

Knight Errant
This isn't as good as JJMs KOTOR, but its still got that subversive and thoughtful storytelling sensibility. Daiman is one of my favorite Sith lords. Art isn't too good, but the story is awesome. 4 stars.

Knight Errant: Deluge
I really liked this one. It was a bit more thoughtful then the average SW comic. Thats not saying a lot, but I appreciated it. Art is better then the first. Might be the best miniseries in the Knight Errant line. 4 stars.

Knight Errant: Escape
Good. Art isn't amazing, and Kerra does have an annoying habit of talking to herself so the reader can hear information. Good though, and the final confrontation with Odion is absolutely awesome. Hes a good villain. I'll say though, while this wraps up some plotlines, it doesn't show what happens to the whole second charge matrica thing, or Kerras ultimate fate. Hopefully JJM will return and do another one... OH WAIT. 4 stars.

Jedi vs Sith
Ahhhhhh... This is amazing. Absolutely amazing. At the beginning, you think its going one way... NOPE! Hahahaha. Its good. Its so so good. I hear Darth Bane trilogy retcons this. That makes me mad. Its so good. Might be the best legends comic idk. Idk. Wow. Okay, what am I ranting about? See, the reason I love Star Wars is because in this universe, you can literally do whatever you want and it works. Do you want a cyberpunk story? Go to the cyberpunk planet. Do you want a western? Go to the western planet. Do you want to go to a trippy planet that probably exists on an alternate plane of existence and is ruled by literal clashing gods just for the awesome weirdness of it? Well, Mortis is a thing. I love this. And I feel like Star Wars doesn't always take advantage of this freedom. So many Star Wars stories homage each other, that they fall into ruts. This universe has tropes and cliches all to its own! Well, Jedi vs Sith veers far away from conventional Star Wars story structure. Its genuinely unpredictable. The characters do not fall into common Star Wars archetypes, or at least, not in the usual way. They are genuinely unpredictable. Also, they are genuinely well developed and interesting. This story has quite a bit of subtext examining the entire philosophies that shape Star Wars, and honestly I wonder if I've figured it all out yet. I really like the antiquated aesthetics of this comic as well. I hear DB retconned those as well. I think thats quite dumb. I really wish SW legends hadn't ignored the technological progression that this and Tales of the Jedi tried to develop. Its dumb. I hope canon doesn't make the same mistake and have technology stay static for 4000 years. Yeah. Art overall is quite nice. I really really like Ramon F. Bachs cartoony style. Darovit is awesome. The twist with Rain knocked my socks off. Bug is cool. Comic is cool. Ending is a bit abrupt and I wish it had been happier. I hear Darth Bane makes it even sadder. But hey, I've yet to read that, so we shall see. Good stuff. Up there with the best SW comics. Don't let me hype it up for you. Pick it up. Throw away all your expectations, and just discover this gem for yourself. 5 stars.

P.S., what is with the covers?! I'm not even sure who most of these people are supposed to be. Why does Rain have a gun?!

Heart of Darkness -Star Wars Tales 16
Wow. For once, the infinities excerpt isn't the best part of the book. Shows how good the book is. Not much to say. Its decent. Arts good. Retcons Heir to the Empire. 4 stars.

Well Marvel and Star Wars did NOT save the best for last.

The Old Republic, vol. 5 was easily one of the worst batch of Star Wars related comics I’ve read in a very long time (in fact, I think the last Old Republic collection was also a massive disappointment, so in all honesty, I shouldn’t be surprised).

KOTOR this is not.

Instead, this is one terrible issue after another, full of dumb characters, ridiculous plots, artwork that’s hit or miss (especially towards the Jedi vs. Sith storyline), and overall an incredibly lame story arc that’s boring, confusing, and uninteresting. Even Kerra Holt who was a great heroine in the far superior Knight Errant novel, is very mediocre here. The bad guys are so over the top, it’s stupid. The planets they visit are all the same, and even the introduction of a Hutt that has mechanically opposable limbs does nothing to make me excited. Seriously, after the second issue, I didn’t care about anyone or anything, despite the fact this was supposed to be more lore to add to the depth of the Star Wars universe.

There is a lot of good stuff from this time period of Star Wars, like the Darth Bane novels, and the first volume of this in era graphic novel form, but good lord, this and pretty much all the rest of the Old Republic comics are laughably bad.

I really enjoyed this epic collections. While the Knight Errant comics can be a bit over-the-top at times, especially with the villains, I found it to be super fun reading them. Kerra Holt is a cool character, and Odion and Daiman are exciting villains. I particularly liked the Deluge and Escape arcs. My only big complaint is the artwork for the covers of a lot of the Knight Errant comics isn't great, and I really did not like the artstyle of the Jedi vs Sith comics.

The 15 issues of Knight Errant are quite good, written by John Jackson Miller, same guy behind the Zayne Carrick Old Republic stories, he has interesting plotting and characters which is paired with good art. The rest of the tome is subpar both in story and art.
