There may be some truth to “Be careful what you wish for…”

Katherine Browne dreamed of being a doctor, but twenty years and two children later, Kat is a stay-at-home-mom, complete with a handsome husband and the perfect house. Despite her efforts to be satisfied with all she has, Kat finds herself resentful, and dreaming of the life she could have had. She longs for a little excitement, for something to spice up her long, lonely days.

A handsome stranger accidentally sees Kat undressing one morning, and they embark on a secret game for two. Kat quickly becomes addicted to how he makes her feel; desirable and sexy. But as the days pass, the stranger wants more and more from Kat. Pushed beyond her limits, Kat tries to end it, but the stranger isn’t finished with her yet.

This begins a much darker and far more dangerous game, and Kat has nowhere to hide.
Kat has put herself and everyone she loves at risk. How far will she go to protect the life she’s built?

I am not the biggest fan of domestic thrillers. But I wanted to give this one a try because the author, Angie Lee, was kind enough to send a copy of her book to me. And I’m glad I gave it a try because there were some great psychological aspects in this one as well! This one is based on a steamy concept of a bored housewife finding pleasure in taking her close off for a stranger. But when that stranger becomes obsessed with the MC, she must do what she needs to do to protect her family from the truth. The beginning and middle were a bit of a slower burn but that ending made everything worth it! It is a short and fast read and I love where the author took the story in the end. I definitely recommend checking this one out!

Update, manuscript updated and uploaded to Amazon for ebook on 8/31!

Hey, everybody. This is my first book and I am in love with it. I got the idea from a show on MTV if you can believe it! I don't know if I'm allowed to cite the show here, so I won't.
At any rate, I've been a huge reader all my life and it's been my dream to publish my own book. I thought and thought about my plot twists, wanting to give the readers the opposite of what they expected. I hope everyone loves it as much as I do. So far everyone loves the ending and didn't see it coming!

Join Kat on her journey to find "more" in her life. But beware.. sometimes you should "be careful what you wish for."

Great debut! It was such a quick and easy read! If you are looking for a slightly spicy thriller, this will be a great selection! The ending has points of views that you would not have even considered earlier in the book!

I can’t wait to see what Angie Lee comes up with next!

Thank you Angie Lee for the signed copy! FYI the cover is amazing!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story from start to finish. There isn't a lot of on page spice but the sexual tension is incredible. The plot twists had me waking my husband up as I yelled "WHAT!" in the middle of the night because I couldn't put it down 😂. Excellent debut book from a new author. Can't wait to see how she progresses as a writer!

Thank you to @angie_lee_author for a signed paperback of her debut novel, The Window. I finished this in about 5 hours, which is really quickly for me, and I give it 4 stars.

We follow Kat, a rich, bored, stay at home mom. One morning after her daily workout, she undresses in front of her floor to ceiling windows only to realize there's a hot young stranger in the neighbor's yard. At first she's embarrassed, but she soon decides there was no harm done. It made her feel confident, sexy, and wanted knowing that he enjoyed what he saw. She starts undressing for him intentionally and things keep escalating until Kat refuses him. From there their little game takes a serious turn, prompting her to go to extreme lengths to protect herself and her family.

Although Kat lives the perfect life that everyone wants, and you kind of want to hate her for it, you can't help but sympathize with her need to feel wanted and sexy. I can't really blame her for wanting to spice up her daily life, no one wants to just run errands and do everything for their family without getting anything back in return. She's shut out by her angsty teenager, Kara, and her older son, Jason, is away at school, so she has even less to keep her day occupied. Her husband, Grant, gives her everything she asks for, but works a lot and Kat feels a little less seen by him.

All in all, this really grabbed me and pulled me in. The window game escalated in a way that I wasn't expecting, and I could hardly wait to find out how it ended. If you enjoy suspense, sexual tension, and a little mystique, then you will definitely enjoy this novel. I would recommend this for fans of Karin Slaughter or Heather Graham.

I spoke with Angie in a FB book club and asked her the name of her book. She did not disappoint, it was such a good read! I'm an avid reader so I was able to predict some of it,so I was able to predict some of it, and not in a bad way, I love seeing if my mind guessses are correct.

When I say it was definitely a twist I did not expect! I was intrigued and annoyed with Kat all at the same!

Definitely a twisty book that includes voyeurism and some stalking. Don't even think on it, READ IT! Can't wait until the sequel and more great reads from Angie Lee!

Mic Drop!

Man! Talk about reaping the consequences of your actions?! Have you ever felt 2nd embarrassment for a character? I had that with Kat. Like, girl, stop what you're doing before you get caught!!! But then the jaw drop I was not expecting not only once or twice, but 3x in the last few chapters?! I had one of those devious smiles on my face! And then the last page!!!! What just happened here!!!!!????

Wow!

Just when I thought I knew where the story was going, BAM! I was so intrigued already, then the plot twist! It came as a shock really. Totally unexpected. But the twists didn't end there. I couldn't wait to see where it all was heading, and even the very last page had me saying OMG. Great book Ms Angie Lee! I loved it.

A super quick read, lil hints of spice, always an advocate for red-head protagonists *flips hairs.* The book was definitely veryyyy indie, but that made it all the more fun. For me, could have used a just a bitttt more spice but guess I’ll leave that up to my own imagination hehe. The characters had a good structure around them, I enjoyed the chapter lengths, and the ending was done well — I’m always a fan of a little ominous left up in the air shock factor 👏🏻

IMPORTANT NOTE: Because of some of the tropes and the feelings this book gave me personally, I would rate it a 2.75. However, I definitely can see the appeal if you enjoy twisted domestic thrillers!

📖 The Window is a fast paced domestic thriller with super short chapters. It was a very easy read and I found that I was halfway through before I even realized it!

📖 This book is split into three parts. The first two parts are from the FMCs perspective. The third includes multiple POVs to fill in gaps and throw in some unexpected plot twists.

Part 1️⃣
I felt like I was feeling Kat’s emotions along with her. The first person perspective and her diary entries made me feel like I was listening to a friend confessing their story to me in hushed tones. I was cringing for her but it’s like watching a car accident about to happen: I couldn’t look away.

Part 2️⃣
I hated the infidelity of the first part but couldn’t put it down because of the suspense of part 2. The suspense was done SO well. Plus that PLOT TWIST. Didn’t see that coming.

Part 3️⃣
Speaking of plot twists… I appreciated the look into some of the other character’s brains. I didn’t love the developments that came about in this one. They completely changed my views of some of the characters. The epilogue was a horrible twist that set up the next book.

👉🏻Some of my thoughts and why I rated it 2.5👈🏻

🚩I do not like when children are brought I to thrillers, even if they’re 13. I understand that was a plot point but the implied p3dophilia and obvious trauma that Kara will now have, just wasn’t my cup of tea.
🚩 Grant - I spent the first 2 parts hating Kat and feeling bad for him. Now I see he’s a creep and a liar as well so, good riddance to this family.
🚩The only character I actually liked was the son. And that one dog.

Was NOT expecting that ending, omg. Originally, I wasn't a fan of how many chapters were in the book (69 TOTAL) but upon reading, I realized there's so many because the chapters are so short. I read this on my kindle, but I bet if it were a paperback, there would be so many chapters that were literally half a page. Hey, I've got nothing wrong with that! I will admit there were many times throughout reading that felt so slowww. Before the 50%, then after. Until bam! You're at Part Three, the last 5 remaining chapters. And holy crap. Those chapters were full of twists and turns I never expected. Probably the most interesting part of the book! I liked it, but I probably won't read the next book in the series. I kinda wonder why the author wanted to make another. The ending of this one was *exquisite*. Perfect wrap-up. Well, kinda. Not really. But it was a good mix of leaving you stunned and feeling "Wow, that was amazing." Anyways 3 stars!

I did take a large reading break in between my start date and end date. I'm talking like a week and a half lol. I left off at 38% because I got bored. But alas, I finished it.

This was a quick read once I finally got into it. That was mostly my fault, I was trying to read it when I kept getting interrupted. There are a couple of good twists in it, and I wanted to keep reading until I found out how it ended.

Kay is a bored housewife who wanted to do so much more with her life. Her kids are nearly grown, and she never went back to school like she had planned after getting pregnant with her eldest. When she was stripping in her room after a work out, and realized there was someone out there watching her in her bra and underwear, she was ashamed. But he was gorgeous. And he seemed to like what he saw. So she did it on purpose the next time. As the game they were playing spiraled further, she couldn’t wait to see him next, if only through the window. But then she realized she was neglecting her family, and he wanted more than she was willing to give. So she stopped the game. But he didn’t want to stop.

I’ve had this one for about a month now but just got around reading it and finished it in under 2 hours. Once I started I was hooked and couldn’t put my kindle down. And it was 8:30 am when I started, thinking I’d read until I fell asleep again BUT NO I couldn’t I had to see how it ended.

I was shocked, surprised, taken back by the third part of this book. Up until then I was content with how everything was turning out but then TWIST I’m breathing heavy and longing for more at the end of it. FORCING me to read the second book the same day just to get answers and a sense of closure.

This book was a very easy read and it was interesting all the way through and kept me wanting more. All in all I think this is an amazing book and I highly recommend to anyone who likes secrets, betrayal, thriller, and suspense.

3.5 rounded up to 4. I enjoyed this one - I wasn't expecting where this story went and I really enjoyed being surprised. My only issue with this book was the main character, Kat. Some of her actions didn't make sense to me and I struggled a bit with liking her. Overall, I did enjoy this book and recommend!

The authors writing style reads smoothly and keeps you turning the next page. And for her being a new author, I give her props for writing something fairly original. I love me a good thriller and this is very unlike anything I’ve ever read.

Quick and interesting thriller. What makes a woman strip show in front of a window to a stranger? I guess being a bored housewife. But when the stranger gets possessed, she needs to find a way out of the situation. I did not expect the ending and was surprised

📖40-something Kat Browne is fit and fabulous, but a little bored with her life. A mother of two, a lovable and loyal wife to Grant, starts her day with yoga and spends the rest taking care of her family. She is the quintessential red-haired beauty, who believes in looking good and pampering herself. But...she keeps thinking of the adventures she could have had if she went to med school, if only she had waited to focus a bit more on her career and if only she could be more than a trophy wife.
Amidst all the if only-s, Kat suddenly finds herself in an exciting situation which brings all the thrills back in her life! Her bedroom window, the one which was privy to her daily routine and intimate moments with Grant, opens up another world in front of her. She keeps going back to the window, in search of the ecstasy but things soon take a turn for the worse.
Kat realizes she has everything to lose if her family comes to know about her freakish behaviour. But once the outside world tries to climb in through the window, it becomes extremely hard for Kat to detach herself and run away. 📖

💎The author has penned down the character of Kat with all the perfect nuances.
💎Being a housewife seems like an easy task to many, but the reality is much tougher. As a SAHM I appreciate the author’s way of bringing that out in the story. The MC’s thoughts, struggle, passion and everything else were written with empathy.
💎The title is aptly put to use, with the window being the main object of thrill and despair.
💎A few of the twists might be a little predictable(as domestic thrillers go) but the shock factors will still get you until the very end!
💎As a debut, this is a great start to the author’s journey. The story is fast paced, and the easy writing style will make the reader keep turning the pages!

I want to thank the author for sending me an E-ARC of her book.

This was a great first book from the author. I really liked the way the book was narrated as if the main character was talking to us like a friend and walking us through what had happened. Going into this book I assumed there would be… horizontal negotiations lol. But it took a different turn. And although there was tension and a little thrill it wasn’t really spicy, which is fine. With what we were told about the husband throughout the book, his last bit in part three was alittle out of character but also could be seen as both the wife and the husband are hiding parts of who they are from each other.

"The first time I took off my clothes for him was entirely an accident."

This book was excellent and intriguing. However, the change of point of view in part three was a game changer and pretty unexpected. This was a captivating story with twists and turns I didn't anticipate. I thought there wouldn't be much happening beyond a man showing herself naked to a younger man outside the window, but it was more of a thriller than I expected. Definitely recommend the read; you won't regret it!
