The Almighty Hero’s Next Quest Is…Finding Gainful Employment with the Enemy?!
For the Hero, Leo Demonhart, saving the world isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. After he vanquishes Demon Queen Echidna, the “grateful” people would rather give him the stink eye than show any respect. Now he’s come to Echidna’s castle with résumé in hand, but his old foe isn’t exactly fond of the guy who trounced her forces. It’s up to Leo to use every trick he knows and get in her good (evil?) graces—a cushy gig as a minion of darkness is on the line!

2.5 ⭐️ there wasn’t anything wrong with this manga but I didn’t love if either. Don’t think I’ll continue on with the series.

DNF even though it's a short manga. Though it could have been interesting - a hero who single-handedly defeated a demon queen and her army, saving the world, only to find that instead of being celebrated he is feared as an overpowered threat, so he goes back & tries to join the demon queen's army - came out just too silly with no seriousness to make it interesting. Not 'not enough seriousness'--NO seriousness.
Everything feels like a video game: baddies are defeated but no-one gets killed or even seriously injured, and somehow even a world-threatening battle ends with all of the main baddies *still alive and well*, so there are no stakes, and there is no compelling sense of threat from these 'demon' forces (Ooo, some of them have horns or wings! Okay, but what makes them scary? Do they eat people or engage in recreational cruelty? Oh, they just look different? Okay...)
The characters are all baby-faced, including buxom baby-faced girls and a childlike baby-faced girl infatuated with the (thankfully uninterested) protagonist (though the artist does eventually do an upskirt shot of her, ugh). Character designs are very derivative, nothing you haven't seen before, and everything is played like a gag on derivative fantasy video games. Maybe that's who this manga is for: people who have played a hundred of those types of games before and just want to revisit and laugh at the many cliches.
I'm the wrong audience for this, though - got bored very early on and skimmed to the end hoping for something more interesting or substantial to happen (it did not).

This is a manga adaptation of a light novel by Quantum. Leo Demonhart is a hero who has defeated the demon queen and saved the humanity. But instead of praising him, the humans fear he’ll take over and they start hunting him.

Angered by it, Leo decides to join the demon queen’s army, but since he’s responsible for her downfall, she throws her right out. He’s not discouraged but convinces her four closest generals to give him a chance to prove himself. Instead of battles, he’s tasked with all sorts of administrative jobs.

This was a fun story. Leo was wonderfully insufferable, conceited character who’s determined to show his worth. He doesn’t take the approach others expect him to, but he manages to teach one general how to delegate and another how to cooperate. And he learns why the demon queen wanted to conquer the human realm in the first place.

The story takes place in near-future earth, but I’m not sure why. Nothing reminds of it and the earlier technological society is a mere myth, but there is a nightmare scene with helicopters, so maybe we’ll get to it in the subsequent volumes.

Illustrations by Nori Kazato were great.

I received a free copy from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

A fun manga about a hero with bad attitude/personality (Seriously at times I wanted to yeet him in a firepit with his ego and how he thinks he is all that) wants to join the demon lord's party/army because humans suck (they do, as soon as he single-handedly defeated the demons army he was prosecuted and barred from places). The demon lord? She is not happy to have him join, but he manages to convince her 4 lieutenants and we see how he works hard to get in their good books so he can get in the good book with the demon lord. It was quite fun to see him fix things/try to work out things. And that last chapter with him drinking with the demon lord (no she doesn't like him he is still in camouflage mode as he always is when not with the 4 lieutenant) was just a-plus. I am curious how this one will continue. Will he lose the attitude? Will he get accepted by the demon lord?

Loved the anime, wondering if the manga is as good

So far, so good! Volume 1 follows the anime very closely (or probably the other way around) and has some additional small details about the story. Now that I know there is a light novel as well, I’m wondering if it is available in English too!

I’m a big fan of stories that don’t start at the beginning. The story in which the protagonist starts out as a weakling or devastated by loss has been overdone.

I’m happy to see our protagonist here accomplished and even a little cocky from the get go. World building is unique, and I’m ready for more.

Started off and felt like the sort of “one dude who knows everything teaches those silly women and Demi humans how to do things” but then has a nice twist and ends up being pretty damn wholesome. Enjoyed it!

Not the edition I read but I can't find it on goodreads right now. The story was OK, I guess. I have the second volume but I haven't read it as yet. I already read this part in the novel so the manga was basically just a rehash but with more pictures.

Love the story, but when you subvert this trope so much, it's no longer subverting a trope, it becomes the trope.

The hero changes sides and wants to help the demon queen after defeating her and her army. But why and how? Read on and find good humor, typical videogame/fantasy situations and plenty of action.

arc provided by the publisher via edelweiss in exchange for an honest review

Okay this manga was kind of hilarious. Our main character is the hero who defeated this evil demon queen but the humans he saved have since turned on him, afraid that his powers would switch to harm them. So, he decides to try and team up with the same demon queen he defeated but she says no.. so he convinces her generals to let him sneak in and earn her approval silently before revealing himself.

The main character, Leo, was honestly so infuriating to these generals but also so funny. I loved seeing him help them with their duties and help build their army back up into tip top shape. Also, the scenes with the demon queen... so funny. I can't wait to read future volumes for that reveal!

Definitely one I'd recommend if you like a slower build up with hilarious moments and tons of magic!
