Family means the world to Selene, so when one of her twins ends up caught up in the latest murder in town simply by being at the wrong place at the wrong time, she steps up to make sure the true killer is caught before further turmoil erupts in her family.
She has enough on her plate with Niles trying to call her during the worst times, something that Cullen has certainly noticed. The cunning bachelor wants Selene all to himself without any pesky sheriffs or annoying ex-husbands getting in the way.
Presto also reveals that he has memories of a long-distant place that he doesn’t know how to return to. He feels stuck in Hale Hall, but while Selene wants to help him, she’s not sure what he means whenever he mumbles something about the Twilight Manor and talking trees.
What could the kitty be talking about?
In trying to save her daughter’s reputation, Selene uncovers three potential suspects who were all close to the victim.
She knows her daughter had nothing to do with the situation. However, with Sheriff Andrew peeved that she clearly prefers Cullen’s company over his own, he might just push a narrative that is nothing close to the truth.
Selene hopes to put a stop to things before any more of her loved ones are caught in the crossfire.

A visit from her twins leaves Jaime under suspicion, and relations with the sheriff strained.

The fabulous orange feline lobbies for a greater and more formal alliance between the guardians and the fae, at the same time as vague information begins to come to light about alliances between witches and warlocks in the mortal realm with Rurick.

What threats are there to the veil?

Will jealousy keep the sheriff from seeking justice and acting out a bit of revenge for not being the top suitor with Selene?

Murderous activity and miscellaneous intrigue seems part and parcel of Fayetteville.

I am intrigued to see how alliances might be shifting and what battles might lie ahead.

Her plate is already very full and now one of her twins is in trouble. They were at the wrong place at the wrong time. Now she needs to solve the murder they are accused of. Can she find the real killer? Where will she find the killer? A great tale which will get you hooked.

So, WOW!

Twists and turns at every turn of the page! I did not see anything coming the way it did. Oh, and Fitts needs a kick in the tush! He behaved horribly! And what’s up with Presto?
