I may spend too much time daydreaming; and even more time writing down what I was dreaming about... I might. But as I look back on the poems and short essays that appear in this little book, I am amazed at the interesting things that have, over the years, caused me to jump out of bed, or pull the car over, to get out a pen and write.
I recall saying to somebody, one time, “Wait! I have one more stanza in my checkbook!”
Some of the writing gathered here is funny and some poignant. I talk about that few minutes in time when my family was told that our father had just died... or my raw, moment-to-moment feelings about 9-11... or my confusion about sex when I was 12... or, much later, the scourge of menopause; all thought-provoking or gut wrenching or funny or silly.
