The beginning part of the book was a little slow moving with a lot of descriptive writing and world building. You get a great look at the main characters and the secondary characters and a lot of care goes into building that all up. It just makes for a slow moving beginning with little dialogue. Once you get past that, things move fairly quickly (almost a little too quickly but it a book so...). There seems to be a lot going on with both main characters and their own issues so it takes paying attention to each story line to see how they intersect. Not your typical shifter romance which was nice for a change.

I want to start out by saying I enjoy the story, and the fact that supernatural are attached to Greek Gods is a nice twist and something I myself have thought about in fantasy. The thing that bugs me the most is that it was monotonous writing. Let me explain. To me it felt like the thing about the supernatural being attached to the gods in some way should have come up sooner than chapter 4, There was too many mentions of dislike for the mom. or like how Ophelia scent clings to Rune. I am up for bringing the facts up often just not twice on the same page.
Lastly,
I love the description that is in the dreams/ visions. I can almost smell the sulfur as I read those descriptions. Issy is a best friend I also would love to have, Who wouldn't want their best friend threaten their future love? The characters are developed well, they have more room to grow but that is the beautiful part of writing the character can develop together with the writer. I am looking forward to more works by this author and seeing how she expands this universe. Her writing style reminds me of a early Sarah J Mass or Kerri Maniscalco.

This book is super sexy! It’s a must read. The writing, the scenes, the whole entire book keeps you wanting more and I can’t wait for the second book. I can guarantee you will fall in love with all of the characters in the book, as I did so my self. This is a series I believe will take flight right away and succeed.

I like this story, it has strong characters, an interesting storyline, and solid plot points. I like Ophelia, and while I was mad at Rune for his “mission” I understand the situation. I’m looking forward to the next book. I mostly appreciated the acknowledgment of deities outside of the Greek Pantheon. Seriously, Greek Gods we’re some of the WORST ever. “Got raped in my temple? Here, become Medusa, so men will now hunt you to kill you instead of to #$@& you” Good grief, at least the Norse Gods were more interested in messing with each other, I mean really picking on mortals for a God is like bullying the disabled kid, what kind of POS do you have to be to take any kind of joy or pleasure from that?
Sorry, didn’t mean to rant on the crap Gods of Olympus, instead of the book. I did enjoy the book.

With this being said, there were some issues I had. Since I have the ARC copy, I am willing to chalk those up to it being less edited than the final book will be. There were also a lot of times I had trouble trying to picture what was happening because the descriptions were confusing, but it was mostly during the steamy scenes so I just moved on. But that’s the reason I didn’t give this book a higher rating. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to the next one.

5 ⭐️s= Perfect story, exciting, engrossing, well developed complex characters, solid plot with few to no holes, descriptive environments and place settings, great mystery elements, realistic dialogue, believable reactions and behaviors, loved this story so much I’d buy it.

4 ⭐️s= Great story, highly entertaining and enjoyable, exciting storyline, well developed characters and settings, a few discrepancies but nothing that can’t be overlooked. Believable actions and reactions, realistic dialogue, a book I would consider buying.

3 ⭐️s= Good but not great story, noticeable discrepancies, grammatical and or spelling errors, undeveloped characters or unbelievable behaviors but still readable. Nothing majorly wrong with the story, just not interesting enough for me to continue. Would not buy the book.

2 ⭐️s= Not offended by the story, but not interested enough to finish. Unbelievable characters, poor writing, many mistakes, big holes or discrepancies, many spelling or grammatical errors, characters not believable, unlikeable or TSTL.

1 ⭐️= Offensive, extremely poor writing, horrible characters, victimization, gaslighting, blatant abuse, unnecessary violence, child endangerment, or any other highly objectionable behaviors by Main characters. Would never buy this book, and do not recommend it to anyone.

This book was okay. I will read book 2.
There was good potential for me to have loved this book and I want to talk about the good and the bad.

First off the good things:

I loved the premise and overall idea of the book, I thought it was really fun and a good spin on Greek mythology.

There were things written in such a way that was good, had me right in there with just enough to keep me in it but enough to be with the story.

Overall I’m still interested enough to read book 2.

Some not so good things:

I struggled with the flow and transitions within the book, there were times when things seemed to end very abruptly, other times where stuff seemed skipped, and times when a scene takes place without context.

I felt like there were some character discrepancies or holes of stuff that didn’t really add up in my mind.

Then there were some holes within the story itself. I imagine writing a PNR novel to be extremely difficult because you are building your own world and so much has to be set up / explained. There were times where I felt this was missed.
On that same note there was one thing I caught early on that I wasn’t sure was an author error or a storyline hole (trying to keep this spoiler free) but the FMC doesn’t question how a guy, whom she doesn’t really know, seems to know where she lives and her housing layout.

Lastly, I am all for letting the Kink fly so this isn’t kink shaming in any way or icking anyones yum, however, with the BDSM referenced in the book - based on personal experience in that world it doesn’t necessarily read very accurate. (Think 50 Shades of Grey)

What is better than shifters and witches, you ask? Throwing Gods, curses, and prophecies in the mix I tell you.
This book exceeded my expectations. It drew my breath from the very first chapters. Not like anything I've read before.
Loved Ophelia's character so much, and her and Rune's chemistry was off the charts. Can't forget about Lia's bestfriend, Issy, their friendship is really admirable. I loved all the characters in this book (except the mom), and especially the angel who graces us with her short visit (I had a soft spot for her, don't know why).
The plot and the storyline were really good, you'll never get bored reading it, and I guarantee that you'll want for more. I especially loved how the author linked the existence of the supe creatures to the Greek Gods, being their descendants and all.
And as a lover of Greek Mythology and everything supernatural, I recommend this book. It's so worthy of reading.

“YOU WERE MAGNIFICENT, little one,”

Thank you for writing such a magnificent story. Can't wait for book 2.

I adored this book so much that I felt like it was written specifically for me (the algorithm that brought me to it was on point!)

I loved how mythology and the supernatural tied into a modern day plot. I fell head over heels for all of the characters. The author really shines when it comes to description. The prose was stunning and I could visualise everything so perfectly. This has to be the best debut fantasy novel that I've read in a long time. I'm so glad to see it's going to be a series!

If you're thinking about giving this book a chance, do it. It's very much worth your time.

To the author: I love your BtVS references throughout the story, being a big fan myself and your Ophelia Playlist was just fantastic taste 👌 You are definitely my kind of person. I loved your side characters, specifically Davey and Charlie and I really hope we'll get to see them again!

I really enjoyed this new take on the children of gods and goddesses. Many supernatural books that include gods and goddesses focus on the Greek pantheon but this series includes others such as the Norse pantheon. Even more interesting is the fact that the gods and goddesses no longer exist, having given all their power to their children. The heroine is sweet but naive, though not naive enough that you aren’t rooting for her to break her multi-generational curse and be free. If you’re looking for something different in the realm of mythology and supernatural romance then this is the book for you!.

I took a few chapters to really get into this book, but once I did, I really enjoyed the story. The world is interesting with a Gods/Demons/Shifters/Witches combination. There were some side characters who I really hope to hear more from in the future.

I wasn't the biggest fan of some of the BDSM references as I don't think they were needed for the story. They didn't add anything. And removing them wouldn't have really changed the story in my opinion.

I really love the pop culture references and the idea that the way the shifter communities work.

This was a captivating, fast paced read with plot twists, a delectable hero and a heroine rebelling against tradition, willing to sacrifice herself for the ones she loves. You meet shifters, witches, magic and ancient gods (or rather their children) in a modern world setting, spiced up with steamy intimate scenes and rounded off with very likeable and well fleshed out characters. Very much looking forward to the sequel!.

Lia is an oracle, a child of a god and Rune is a shifter with a secret. Little do they know how intricately their fates are woven into each other's.

Suspense, Betrayal, Spicy goodness and a cliffhanger await you as these two learn about their destinies and fall in love.

So Freaking Good!

This book is amazeballs. It's sexy and immersive and I was immediately drawn into the story from the first page. L.V. deserves recognition for one of the best debuts I've ever read. I hope more people find this book so that she can continue with her talented writing. Seriously, read this book!
