Their plan was stupid as shit lol. And honestly there was too many people and I believed no one’s relationship with one another. The dialogue felt forced. Also a little too complicated for a slasher. Slasher should be one or two killers the end. This has the brother the uncle the cousin the granny the nephew the neighbor from up the street. Like damn. Only person I liked was Gale

“All Will Die”, by Kristopher Rufty, was horrifying, and I enjoyed every page.
Rufty created a dark atmosphere throughout the novel. There were several moments that caught me surprised. There were many scenes that seemed tame but ended up being brutal.
“All Will Die” starts out at 100 miles per hour and maintains momentum until the last page. It is a great horror story that works best read in the dark.
I caution you, this book is not for the faint of heart or squeamish.

Hunter or prey, who is who? The story chops (pun intended) and changes so much you are left guessing until the end.
This is a straight up slasher story that doesn't get fully going until about halfway through. Unfortunately by then, the characters had annoyed me so much that I didn't care what happened to them. I can understand their plan to a point but they are just stupid and the dialogue between them in non action scenes just dragged and could have been cut, it didn't add anything to the story (even any tension or atmosphere). Don't even get me started on how the police couldn't detect the killer over the previous year when there is a suspicious junkyard in the middle of the forest, right where murders happen...come on! Even the very end, there was no need to leave a cliff hanger but hey, another book in the series right? Right?
Rufty is a writer I like but this one just didn't hit the mark with me. It does what it says on the tin, so if that's your bag then you'll like it. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this kind of book at the present moment.

Another great one from Rufty! An intense, action packed story of revenge that spirals out of control. A great read for fans ofTexas Chainsaw Massacre, X, or Wrong Turn.

No parent wants to hear that their teenager was brutally murdered in a cabin in the woods, along with their entire group of friends. The police have found nothing, and may never find anything, but the parents have taken matters into their own hands. By recreating a weekend getaway the parents believe they can lure the killer out to wreak vengeance. Their suspicions are right, but boy did they underestimate what evil lives in these woods. Will they survive? If not, all will die.
Rufty’s All Will Die is your typical slasher/extreme horror novel that is Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets The Hills Have Eyes. Some plot points I found to be a little non-believable but I let it slide based on its slasher movie atmosphere. While the book was violent, I found that I wasn’t entirely disturbed based on Rufty’s writing style. The writing at times felt more of a “tell the reader what’s happening” rather than paint a picture through descriptive language. If you love extreme horror, gore, and slasher films definitely give All Will Die a read!

All Will Die by Kristopher Rufty is a wild ride that starts off strong but stumbles along the way. But the characters? Questionable decisions galore over and over.
It’s entertaining enough if you’re in the mood for a gruesome horror flick in book form, but don’t expect a genre masterpiece. 🌟 for the thrills, but I won’t be losing sleep over this one.

What happens when a group of teenagers is brutally murdered in what was supposed to be a fun hangout in the mountains?! The family of these teenagers set out on an all-scale hunt for their killer; luring him out of the darkness and wanting to inflict on him the same brutality he set on their children.
We meet Ethan, the father of one of the teenagers, Emily, in total devastation, along with the other parents at having lost his child to a maniac. A year later, along with the other parents, he devises an intricate plan to lure out the maniac and set forth their vendetta!
This book was fire! Right out of the gate, with the opening line “That was a scream” followed by details of the gruesome scene down to the very last scene. Kristopher Rufty has managed to bring the reader to feel the angst, grief, and turmoil in contemplating what a parent would do in the same situation! The story is fast-paced and definitely shows Rufty’s storytelling talent, bringing you to the edge of your seat from a nail-biting read!

A Harrowing Story From The Get-Go!!!
This book is fast paced, edge of the seat reading right from the very first page. I was completely absorbed from the start, and my nerves were on edge throughout the entire book. Kristopher Rufty is, without a shadow of a doubt, a fantastic storyteller with an awesome talent for drawing the reader deeper and deeper into the nightmare horrors his characters endure to the very last sentence.
What an amazing author. What a brilliant book!!

All Will Die sounds like the perfect slasher. A group of parents go to get revenge on the Killer who murdered their children in the woods. Sounds like a solid premise for those who are a fan of the genre!
But why was I left underwhelmed? Well, this book wasn’t necessarily bad, but here’s what’s holding it back.
1) TOO LONG - This novel felt like it was never going to end. The 275 pages felt like 400 and there were too many unnecessary details for a slasher
2) UNBELIEVABLE- I get it, slashers aren’t supposed to be deep, but scenes here felt forced. The characters were hardasses and then turned into pussies the next paragraph. When loved ones died the reactions were unbelievable.
3) STUPID CHARACTERS - Not only was their plan stupid, but their reactions to everything going on didn’t make sense. The way Kristopher Rufty wrote these characters is the same way I’d imagine a TV adaptation with horrible cringe acting.
I think this book tried to do too much and ended up almost loosing me. There were several elements I enjoyed and the concept was cool but Quality > Quantity.
To sum things up here is some dialog between 2 of the characters after one of their significant others was killed:
“He killed her. Just now. She’s dead.”
“Damn it.”

It was a pretty okay slasher book. The parallels between families were interesting. It was an interesting premise having the parents seek revenge and set up their own slasher scene to lure the killer in. It was a dumb plan. But a unique take. It wouldn’t been like any other slasher if it had been about the teenagers. The ending was open, implying that he wanted to he could make a sequel. That’s how a lot of horror movies end.
My problem lies however with how the author feels like a man who has watched one too many horror films in his mom’s basement. I mean the amount of attention he paid to women’s breasts. It can only be assumed that he’s only experienced boobs via a screen. All the female characters were getting their shirts ripped open, breasts flying, and blood pouring down them. We get it. You wanted to create your own snuff film but couldn’t so this is your next best thing.
Anyways, if you want a book that follows all the horror movie stereotypes this is your book to read! Overall I am still a sucker for slashers so I enjoyed it.

An excellent, hardcore, hard hitting backwoods slasher novel, this might be one of my favorites by Rufty. Rufty had an initial, extremely prolific run in the 2010s, then took a few years off. He is currently having a second, extremely prolific run. He came back with a vengeance! I have only read this one and Lurkers Go To College, and they were both excellent. His writing has only improved over time.
If the initial premise seems a little wonky, stick with it. It takes a little time to get going, but once it takes off, it is nonstop straight through the last page. Veers into extreme horror territory, so recommended for fans of the harder edged style of horror. I am looking into reading more of Rufty's post hiatus run!
Added: One thing I haven't seen other reviewers mention: there was a really interesting, mirror image quality to the story. I don't want to divulge too much, as there are tons of surprises, but could Rufty be utilizing the "Ring Theory" of storytelling here? If so, pretty sure that is a first for a slasher!

This was an extremely fast-paced read. It opens with action and then pretty much doesn't let up throughout the story. It was fun and kept my attention. I could see this being adapted into a slasher movie.
Why "only" three stars? That fast pace, plus not that long of overall length, means that you don't get too much development on characters. You get the basis of their personalities and then it's no holds barred on bloody action. So sometimes the characters seem more like archetypes then fully-fleshed out personas. But no one comes to this type of story for a character study; you come for blood. And this story has that in spades.
If you aren't big on gore descriptions then this would probably not be a fun read for you. Another plus, that I forgot to mention, is that there is no gratuitous sexual assault in this story. Those type of scenes sadly seem to be so commonplace and never seem needed for the story.

I started loving this because it had those classic ’90s horror slasher vibes—seriously, it felt like I was watching an old-school scary movie! 🔪🎬 But then… it just kept going downhill 😂.
At some point, I felt like I had accidentally switched to one of those Scary Movie parodies instead. It was like the author tried to cram way too much into a single book, and the result was just chaos. 🌀
Not my favorite, unfortunately. It had the nostalgia factor, but that got totally wrecked for me. Oh well! 🤷♂️💀

Fast paced horror
So I have hundreds of books in my library that I haven't read yet I was looking for a horror book that was brutal had a good story,decent characters and just not boring,this book was all of those,some pretty brutal kills in this book, wish I could have found out a little bit more about the family of killers but it is what it is it's exactly what I paid for if you enjoy a horror you will not be disappointed

I barely started this book before putting it down because of the author's ridiculous descriptions.
"Her chest felt as if it were shrinking around her breasts"... Really? To describe a woman short of breath? That's one of the most nonsensical things I've read in a "horror" novel. This author clearly hasn't a clue how to write women and it turned me off of the novel immediately.
PS: I have no issue with sexual content, it's just poor writing.

Maybe others have said it. Have not looked at all the reviews, but this is a twist on "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." The author even alludes to it. A good twist, but still a twist. After some teenagers are killed out in the woods, their parents decide to go out after the murderer. Turns out to be a bad idea.

A new and unique take on the slasher genre and is one of my favorite reads this year! Absolutely loved it!!! Everything Rufty touches turns to gold! I don’t want to ruin anything in the book. But it’s filled with slasher goodness!!!

Endured 67% of this disaster, but who's counting? Horror turned into a circus of chaos. Skipped the ending – life's too short for literary misery. Spare yourself; find a better read. Here's hoping the next one is a better nightmare.
