Note: The Arrogant's Surrender, Book One of the Gods in White series, is a standalone. Each book can be read separately, but it’s likely that the next one will contain spoilers from the previous ones.
I haven’t had much experience with age gap romance or billionaire romance, so I was wary, but this book exceeded my expectations. My favorite character actually ended up being the arrogant billionaire! His self-awareness and unwavering honesty were refreshing; there was no second guessing what his motives were. There was also a splash of vulnerability in his perspective as he begins to fall for Brooklyn.
Even though there is a significant age gap between Athanasios and Brooklyn, you wouldn’t know it. Brooklyn doesn’t have the wealth or success that Athanasios does, but her character isn’t naive or easily manipulated. And he consistently corrects people who try to characterize her as weak or a victim.
The spice is important in that it provides context for the power dynamic between Athanasios and Brooklyn, but those scenes can be skipped without missing anything major.
I received an advance review copy of this book for free, and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
This is the first in a new series and this is Athanasios and Brooklyn’ s story. Athanasios is a neurosurgeon, and an arrogant billionaire, who craves what is missing in his life. Brooklyn is sweet, and is brought out of a come by Athanasios, who deems she belongs to him, and he is relentless in his pursuit. This is a well written story which has found family, emotions, secrets, drama, lies, betrayal, enemies, an age gap, hidden enemies, grumpy / sunshine, opposites attract, challenges, passion, morally gray, and love, which leads to an entertaining, twisted, and unpredictable addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
D.A. Lemoyne's book The Arrogant's Surrender is a 5-star book that was just pure perfection. The emotional tension and struggles between Athanasios and Brooklyn made their moments together so beautiful, and while a little spicy, it is not the whole book, and I loved that. The twists, turns, and suspense throughout this book left me wanting more even after finishing it. I cannot wait for the 2nd book in this series. The MMC Athanasios is absolutely an arrogant man who rightfully feels like he can be and act that way because of his amazing skills as a doctor. His past and present make him the man he is today, and the way Brooklyn and family soften this man's heart, just makes me swoon for him even more. The game plan for finding the wife to make his life complete, would be thrown out the window when he meets his match. The FMC Brooklyn making such an impact so early on in Athanasios's life let you know that she wasn't going anywhere anytime soon, you just didn't know exactly how she was going to be in his life. Brooklyn, mother to two gorgeous twins misses out on their early moments growing up and won't let that traumatic night and health scare take any more time away from her children. Her past trauma with family and men lead to her being careful and cautious as she should be. But will her cautiousness cause her to miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity for love and happiness? The side stories for both Athanasios and Brooklyn absolutely made this story even more exciting to read and made me more hopeful for them to come together and be that power couple. This book was an amazing read, and I will share it with anyone I can, everywhere I can. Please put The Arrogant's Surrender on your TBR, but don't let it stay there too long. This is a must read.
This is my second book by this author and I can tell you she is becoming a fast favorite. I absolutely love Greek Mythology and the fact that the author uses that in her stories makes me all kinds of happy. We met the good doctor in Hade’s story and I was intrigued by him and his story. He is a talented surgeon but doesn't have many emotions. He is emotionally stunted. He knew he was always going to have a contract marriage. What he did not count on was falling in love with his patient. When he meets her, she is in a coma after a horrific life event. He spent lots of time with her willing her to wake up. When she finally does, they have an instant connection. He knows he wants her as his contracted wife. He never imagined he would find so much more. She taught him so many things that he never knew. She taught him how to have emotions or as much emotion as a man like him and can have. Her children really help him embrace his softer side. His interactions with her kids is so sweet. He knew they were a package deal and he never treated them like they were not special to him. The way he embraced them all was chef’s kiss. The author did a fantastic job conveying the character development as well as continue the amazing world that she has built around these Greeks. I cannot wait to read more. I would definitely read this book again and recommend it to anyone who loves mythology ties.
The first book in a new series from D A Lemoyne and when I heard the hero was going to be a neurosurgeon known as ‘God’ I just knew he was going to be arrogant down to his very bones, and Athanasios definitely delivered on that front. When he decided it was time to marry his eye lingered on his sleeping beauty of a patient, Brooklyn Foster, convenience or laziness on his part, I mean why waste time going looking for a bride if theres one under your very nose but then again, isn’t there a saying about how if you save a life, it belongs to you…..
With The Arrogant’s Surrender, the Gods in White series is off to a strong start. There’s just something about an arrogant Greek billionaire and when you toss in he literally holds life and death in his hands even if what he does is more than a little unethical. I loved the grumpy/sunshine vibes between the hero and heroine and their chemistry sizzled. As usual from this author there was a keen sense of family running throughout and the overall story was well written with engaging characters, with a plot that had just the right balance of drama and suspense as secrets were revealed to keep this reader absorbed.
Athanasios is a brillant Doctor who figure out why Brooklyn was still in a coma. Athanasios repairs and Brooklyn start coming out and see her kids she remember everyone who visited and talk to her, especially Athanasios his arrogants and stubborness. when they start spending time together and realizing that Brooklyn is still in danger she is being guarded. Her marriage was a lie her husband wasnt the men she thought. Brooklyn fear for her life and of her twins and Athanasios promises he will protect them and vows to get them justice for the months she loss in a coma
What a well written story full of found family, emotions, secrets, drama, lies, betrayal, enemies, grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract, challenges, passion, and love. I couldn't put this book down. It was absolutely addictive. The emotional tension and struggles between Athanasios and Brooklyn made their story so beautiful. While this book did have spice, I loved that it didn't overpower the book. The twists, turns, and suspense throughout this book left me wanting even more. I can't recommend this book enough.
I love doctor romances. This doctor, is Greek billionaire Athanasios Pappakouris, and he is obviously a very successful person but there is one thing missing from his life. His true love. When he brings his patient, Brooklyn, back from a coma, he knows his search for the perfect woman is over. This story has a lot of wonderful tropes like age gap, found family, meant for each other and grumpy/sunshine. I love that they have an instant connection after she wakes up from the coma. He has spent so much time with her also while she was asleep. Athanasios is her protector and would do anything to protect her and avenge for the ones that did her wrong. Another great story by this author.
What a story, I love Athanasios and Brooklyn, their lives are so different but maybe that’s why they are so good together. A Neurosurgeon and a woman who was in a comatose state that the doctors gave up on. He was called by her family to try to help bring her back not realizing the danger she would later be in. Athanasios was intrigued by her, when she finally woke up, he realizes he is smitten with her. He and Brooklyn went through so much but I am glad they ended up together, really an amazing story!
Obsession at first sight.... She's in a coma and it because of a tumor, he operates, still two months before she awakes. Then the road that returns her to her family, and the man she grows to love😍,,,,,love the Greek mythology, names of god ....
looo ame, necesito los libros que le siguen pero ya de ya, ese Doctor todo que ver, en mi vida había leído un libro de Doctor y todo que ver todo que ver
Age Gap (21, 40) Single Mom of Twins Icy, Alpha MMC Doctor x Patient
Review: So this was an interesting billionaire romance. The mmc is quite icy but kinda fascinating since he doesnt quite feel emotions like most, which is an enticing combination. A neurosurgeon that has a nickname of "God" amongst his peers, performing the impossible and saving patients lives. This includes noticing a tumor, operating and allowing our fmc, Brooklyn, to awake from a coma.
The romance hook is where I have reservation. He comes on strong all of a sudden as she's preparing to leave the hospital, saying how he intends to seduce and chase her. He is always direct though as a personality trait. Being 21, mother of two infants and waking up after a coma, she seems to take this all in stride too much lol.
He's enigmatic for sure, older, handsome! But he admits he only wants her so that he can simply settle and have a family. I do like that he says he does want to get to know her more , as she recovers. He says he has antisocial disorder so his disconnectedness on feelings of love make more sense. But I'm just not sure if it's wholly accurate.
It still felt like he was just being really pushy for s3x and then the next minute he thinks he can't purse her because she wants more than s3x and it wouldn't be fair of him to saddle her down with him. Then he gives up on this noble notion within 24 hr. It became confusing at times and gave whiplash.
On the good side, I did like the idea of him being ice and then beginning to feel true feelings (and just not recognizing them). He was also very tender with the infants and protective. Hearing his inner monologues showing his insecurities on handling real things like hugs, were my favorite small moments , but theyvwere too fleeting. These moments would've helped the believability more of his anti social disorder.
In the end, I just felt confused about where they stood with each other for too long, as it still felt quite disconnected. Around 60% i did like that we finally get her speaking up about clarity in what he wants and whatbshe wants.I like the world of Greeks as I've read others in the series that I've really liked but it can be hit and miss. This one I didn't connect to with as much.
Athanasios is determined his new patient will come out of her coma. And once he sees her, he's determined she'll be his wife. Oh, not because he's in love with her or anything, but because he needs a wife and he wants her to be that wife. He's well known for being cold, unfeeling, and not capable or wanting, love. When Brooklyn wakes and he starts pursuing her, will he find his frozen heart thawing?
Waking up from a coma, Brooklyn wants to see her twins. What she gets at first is the cold voiced surgeon who practically baited her to wake up. She knows better than to burden herself with thoughts for this ruthless, unfeeling doctor nicknamed God. But when he declares his intent to claim her, what's a woman to do in the face of such intense focus? She can't possibly let this man who doesn't want, or feel, love, into her own heart, can she?
I'm going to come right out and say I wasn't too sure of Athanasios for about 90% of this story. His inability to feel deeply bothered me, as well as Brooklyn. Thank God for her, because she was the catalyst for his redemption, for finally allowing his heart to feel. She had been through so much, then when she woke up, she had this force, for lack of a better term, focused solely on her. Wow! I give her so many kudos for how she handled it, handled herself, handled Athanasios. Dominant men can be too much at times, and Athanasios was at once, too much, and not enough, for me. But I ended up liking his story, because of Brooklyn. She's the warmth to his ice, the heart to his morally gray. Their chemistry is hot, and in the end, they finally got on the same page and admitted how they really felt. I know William and Taylor's story is coming next and I'm excited to read as the next God gets brought to his knees by love.
ARC provided by The Author Agency for an honest review.
Bold, sensual, and unapologetically intense, The Arrogant’s Surrender is a sizzling debut in the Gods in White series that grabs you from the very first page and doesn’t let go.
Athanasios Pappakouris—a name you won’t forget in a hurry. Neurosurgeon. Greek billionaire. Arrogant to the core. But underneath the godlike reputation and relentless drive is a man searching for something deeper: a family, a legacy, and someone to claim as his own.
Enter Brooklyn Foster—vulnerable, recovering, and completely unprepared for the force that is Athanasios. After he saves her life, he decides she’s his future. What begins as possessive seduction turns into something much more tender and profound. Their connection is electric, and the chemistry? Off the charts. 🔥
D.A. Lemoyne delivers a romance brimming with dominant hero energy, power imbalance turned passion, and a love that becomes unbreakable. With hints of dark romance, emotional healing, and high-stakes drama, this story will hook readers who love alpha billionaires with heart and heroines who find their strength through the fire.
Behind the opulence and steamy tension, there’s also a layered emotional arc. As secrets, enemies, and betrayal creep in, Athanasios’ protective instincts kick into overdrive. He’ll go to the ends of the earth to keep Brooklyn safe—and readers will be right there for the ride.
Athanasios might be arrogant, but surrendering to this book? Effortless. If you’re craving a dominant, over-the-top hero with a soft heart buried beneath layers of control, The Arrogant’s Surrender delivers in every way. Seductive, emotional, and addictive—this is the kind of modern-day Greek god fantasy readers dream of.
DNF. It’s so boring and nothing is happening. The mmc is way to icy cold and I don’t understand her fascination with him. No idea how the mfc is affording to live as she doesn’t work, no idea how she’s managing to look after her twins after only just getting out of a long hospital stay.
I have to hold my hands up and say that I’ve tried reading this author a few times and given up each time. Sadly as the plot sounded really good. At 300 pages it’s not a short book but there’s way too many details missing and it was really confusing at times. Brooklyn has been in the hospital for months, and they’ve moved her into a new house while she’s been in the hospital. Did they take all her clothes? Who is paying for the new house as Brooklyn hasn’t worked in ages how is she affording to live? So many unanswered questions. Conversations are really stilted, even with close family members, and I actually felt grossed out when they first had s*x as there’s no intimate touches or caresses, no build up in their ‘relationship.’ I certainly didn’t feel any love between them.
Brooklyn is in a coma after a violent attack, and Athanasios is a top neurologist who takes over her care. As soon as Athanasios sees her pictures he starts to feel something for her. I’m not sure what he started to feel as he’s so icy cold to Brooklyn that it’s hard to believe he was feeling anything. When Brooklyn is finally allowed to leave the hospital she has lost months of her life, and missed out on her twins first few months of life. While I really felt for Brooklyn she was too insipid for me to like her. She wasn’t in love with her twins dad but moved in with him because she was pregnant. Athanasios shows her some attention and she’s instantly infatuated with him. Maybe she should take her time and not date for a while after just getting out of the hospital and focus on her twins!! I didn’t believe in their relationship at all, as he’s so cold there’s never any casual touches or affection. Yet when they’re having s*x he’s hot!
As a huge lover of billionaire x age gap romances, I absolutely ate this book up! There is just something about a steamy doctor x patient romance with a stubborn, knows exactly what he wants MMC and a sweet, shy but not naive FMC.
The Arrogant’s Surrender is book one in the Gods in White standalone series. However, we have met these characters during the Kostandis standalone series. I have been VERY much looking forward to Brooklyn’s story so much. Especially after reading about her sister Madison’s with Zeus and seeing more glimpses of Athanasios in a couple of the books.
Athanasios is an arrogant brain surgeon, who happens to be the one to bring Brooklyn out of a longtime coma. The relationship between the two slowly builds - their dynamic has a lot of push and pull. I loved seeing the determination from Athanasios; Brooklyn is the woman for him and he will stop at nothing to have her. Brooklyn has lost many years from her children due to an accident which rendered her in a coma. She is just doing the best she can and navigating her life in the “now”, so it was incredible to see her achieve the love and adoration she truly deserved for not just herself but her children too.
This book really has it all. There is spice, suspense, intrigue and heart warming moments galore. It will suck you right in. The characters are so well developed and the plot has a few twists and turns to keep you engaged.
I’m a huge, HUGE fan of D.A. Lemoyne and am obsessed with the stories she creates! No one writes grumpy, broody Greeks quite like her. On top of that each heroine perfectly matches their Greek counterpart. I can’t recommend this book enough, and if you love it and haven’t read about the Kostandis men you should read those too!
Thank you so much to D.A. Lemoyne and the author agency for the early copy! I have enjoyed being a part of several opportunities to read these first and have enjoyed every single one!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Arrogant’s Surrender. D. A. Lemoyne once again demonstrates her mastery of storytelling, weaving a captivating narrative filled with unexpected plot twists, jaw-dropping revelations, and remarkable characters. I loved both the main characters - Athanasios and Brooklyn. I liked how straightforward, honest and truthful Athanasios is towards Brooklyn. He doesn’t treat her with kid gloves, respects her for surviving a horrible situation and doesn’t try to hide things from her in the name of protecting her. He is protective of both Brooklyn and her kids. He genuinely makes an effort to get to know and interact with her children, and he loves them unconditionally. Brooklyn has been through a lot and the accident changed her in many ways but she doesn’t let that keep her down for long. She works on recovery physically, mentally and emotionally and it’s good to see that she has a strong support system in form of her family, kids and Athanasios. Brooklyn and Athanasios are perfect for each other in all the ways that matters and definitely deserve the beautiful family they built together. Despite the increased heart rates and biting nails, the plot twists, suspense, and revelations surrounding Athanasios’ past and Brooklyn’s accident are certainly worth it. If you enjoy romantic suspense stories, I highly recommend adding this book to your TBR list.
This is book one in the God’s in white series from D. A. Lemony. If you have read previous books from D.A. Lemony you may recognize Brooklyn as the sister of Madison (wife of Zeus Kostanidis from Book 1 of the Kostanidis Family books). Brooklyn spent most of that book in a coma while her sister fought take care of her twin babies and help Brooklyn recover. When Zeus makes a call to get the best neurosurgeon to look into Brooklyn’s case, in comes Athanasios. He is drawn to Brooklyn and quickly works to bring Brooklyn out of her coma. As he works with Brooklyn he is drawn to her and decides Brooklyn would be the perfect wife and first imagines her as his wife in a sort of marriage of convenience. What Athanasios doesn’t count on is developing true feelings for Brooklyn.
I have been waiting to get Brooklyn and Athanasios’ story for a while and I was so curious about the circumstances around Brooklyn’s ordeal. This book definitely delivered on both the steam and the mystery. The love story between the stoic and practical Athanasios and the cautious and hopeful Brooklyn is a true opposites attack tale. Brooklyn wakes from her coma determined to reclaim her life and wants to explore her feelings toward Athanasios. Athanasios is drawn to Brooklyn and decides she is the only person who can be his wife. He claims her before he realizes she is claiming him right back. Loved so much about this book. Definitely worth adding to your TBR.
Wow, the stories I've started reading from D.A. Lemoyne are quickly making her one of my favorite storytellers. I love that she has a thing for Greek men and sticks to what she knows, weaving the lives of characters from her other books. This book featured Odin and Christos, along with new characters like Zeus, Dionysus, Ares, and Hades—the Kostanidis brothers. Clearly, their parents had a thing for Greek mythology. Dr. Athanasios Pappakouris is a talented but emotionally stunted surgeon who always knew he would have a contract marriage. What he didn’t expect was to fall in love with his patient. When he meets Brooklyn Foster, she’s in a coma after a horrific life event, and he spends a lot of time willing her to wake up. When she finally does, they share an instant connection. He knows he wants her as his contracted wife but never imagined he’d find so much more. She teaches him how to feel emotions—at least as much as a controlling man like him can. Her children help him embrace his softer side, and his interactions with them are so sweet. He knew they were a package deal and treated them like they were special to him. Over time, they fell in love, but the journey in between is full of angst, mystery, romance, and excitement. I highly recommend this book—it can be read as a standalone and gives a great sense of how amazing this author is.
I have really been looking forward to this book. Brooklyn has been a side character in several previous books although she has been in a coma most of the time. Now this is the first book in the Gods in White series which I believe will be following several doctors. The first doctor is Athanasios who is a neurosurgeon called in to help his Greek friend’s wife’s sister Brooklyn. Brooklyn is the mother of twins who had several intruders enter her home and shoot her. Athanasios discovered that Brooklyn had a tumor and that the removal would help her regain consciousness. Athanasios is a very arrogant, withdrawn, aloof Greek man who goes by the nickname of God. He is thinking of getting married to a nice, pleasant, mild mannered woman who will bear his children. Brooklyn is not that woman if you have read previous books you know that Brooklyn and her sister are quite feisty and independent women. The romance between these two is so good. The falling of the God and the acceptance that he can be strong but allow his mate to be his equal was great. There was also so many other plot twists and secrets. Such a great book on so many levels. I’m eager to read the second book in this series.
Happy release day @lemoynebooks! If you love mafia romance, I need you to pick this up ASAP!
The Arrogant’s Surrender is a billionaire, age gap, he falls first, single mom romance between Brooklyn and Athanasios.
I really felt for Brooklyn. She wants nothing more than to take care of her kids and keep them safe, when there’s so much to protect them from. I loved seeing her open up to Athanasios and trust him with her secrets and their lives. She really finds herself again with him, and I loved watching their story unfold.
I completely fell for Athanasios. I loved how he refused to move his relationship with Brooklyn past professional boundaries until they were both on equal footing. And I really related to how he always questioned himself about what he could offer her when he felt like he had nothing to give her. He would do anything to make sure Brooklyn and her kids are safe and happy, and it was so endearing watching him open up to them.
There’s so much that I think everyone would love about this book, please go grab it in KU now💗

The Arrogant’s Surrender is book one of the Gods in White series. We are introduced to some new characters while still getting glimpses of the Kostanidis Family. Brooklyn Foster is the sister of Madison Foster, wife of Zeus Kostanidis. She suffered a brain injury and has been in a coma so Zeus asks friend and renowned neurosurgeon, Athanasios for his help. Brooklyn is a mother of baby twins and has spent months in this coma missing time with her babies. He saves her life and in doing so becomes attracted to her. When she finally wakes up he has claimed her as his. Athanasios is cold and emotionless due to past trauma but Brooklyn and her children are breaking down his walls. He planned on having a loveless marriage of convenience but he cannot deny he is falling for Brooklyn. These two have such amazing chemistry. He’s grumpy she’s all sunshine. Athanasios is a morally grey possessive alpha male that will do anything he can to keep his new family safe.
This is the first book of a new series from this author. Athanasios and Brooklyn's story had many twists and turns and a unique plot which I was drawn too. Neurosurgeon extraordinaire Athanasios is asked to help a coma patient i.e., Brooklyn. What takes part after that is a well written story that delves into to so many aspects of this couple's past and present. Their attraction to one another is immediate even though they don't act upon it until a bit later in the story, but the sex and the submissive/dominance tango they do is very interesting. I usually don't enjoy 19 year age gap scenarios, but Brooklyn is not your normal 21 year old. Her character is an old soul in her actions as well as her thoughts and words. She has made mistakes but based upon she and her sister's Madison's childhood it could have been far worse.
Both characters are faced with trust issues, manipulation by family members, revelations that forge their relationship from one of "convenience" to one of "love". Initially I considered Athanasios' character as being robotic who didn't experience feelings other than those that brought him pleasure, such as sex. Eventually as the book continues he not only finds that he is more than just a machine, but one that possess' real feelings because of what is awakened when he meets Brooklyn. He has to eventually concede that he loves a woman not only for sex, but who she is as a person. There sexual escapades initially are identified as "fu......king, but changes later in the book when "making love' replaces the basic sexual act of getting pleasure.
The story has plenty of suspense, action, mystery and character involvement from the prior Greek series that keeps the story interesting, but also adds balance to a story frought with revelations and admissions. Nothing is as it seems taking the reader on an roller coaster ride of emotions, character growth, and a love story that sizzles off the pages.

This is book one in the Gods in White series, and Brooklyn and Athanasios’ story was truly a whirlwind. Their journey is intense, emotional, and packed with unexpected turns that keep you hooked from start to finish.
Brooklyn has been in a coma ever since a home invasion left her shot and broken. Athanasios, one of the best neurosurgeons in the world, takes on her case as a personal favor. When she wakes up, he immediately makes his intentions clear—he wants her as his own. But with all the trauma and pain Brooklyn has endured, will she be able to open her heart again?
From the beginning, Athanasios is unapologetically arrogant. He chooses Brooklyn because she fits neatly into his life plan. He knows he has a heart of stone, but as he spends time with Brooklyn and her family, you start to wonder—can even the hardest heart soften?
Honestly, I didn’t like Athanasios at first. But as his true character unfolded, I couldn't help but fall for him. When he sets his sights on something—or someone—he goes all in, and who doesn't love that kind of dedication in a man? Brooklyn is such a strong and vibrant woman, and when their chemistry finally ignites, it’s pure fire.
There were also a few twists I didn’t see coming, and they made the story even better.
If you're in the mood for a billionaire, age-gap, grumpy hero romance with a lot of heart and passion, The Arrogant’s Surrender is the book for you!
