Tommy
It’s the classic your best friend has a beautiful little sister, you’re bound to fall for her.
It’s the classic trope, but we thought we were past that because Emory had always been a kid sister to me, albeit ridiculously beautiful.
Then she comes home after four years away and I catch myself fantasizing about some very unbrotherly things I’d like to do to her. And I can’t do anything about it because Darius is my best friend and I can’t break his trust by falling for his sister, no matter how much I want to. She’s mine though, my baby girl, my Baby.
Emory
I thought coming home meant I’d be moving in with my two brothers because although he’d always been googly-eye hot, I’d never seen him as anything more than Darius’s best friend, and by extension another big brother.
That was before landing at the house he shares with my big brother after studying in London for years and finding myself stupefied. My heart’s flipping and I swear hearts explode in my eyes because all I can think about is how much I want my Buttercup.
Buttercup is a sweet and steamy small-town, feel good romance with a HEA and all the giggles!
This book was not a really well written book. It was passable but it was not a great book. It was like reading an early Wattpad era book. Super sappy, a lot of love-struck inner monologs and cringy dialog.
That being said, because of the Wattpad-esq feeling of the book it also carried a bit of nostalgia for the younger me who loved her sickly sweet stories.
If you want a solid romance book, this one isn't for you. I say this with no hate. I personally enjoyed this book. It's a very simple, sappy, easy to read romance in the very best way if this is what your into. I swear this is not a bad review. I just suck with words right now.
This was a fun childhood best friends to lovers! Very fluffy and sweet, with just a smidge of angst. If you're looking for a light read with a happy ending, this is one for your tbr. I did love the "private but not secret" way the relationship built between Emory and Tommy. They were both all in very quickly, an easy decision after knowing each other for a lifetime. Also, no third act breakup which is always a bonus.
Super sweet story line. Cute the whole way through. Easy read, so it's a good option if you're looking to take a break from your normal. It gave me the vibe of a lazy Sunday read that you can finish in one day but don't want to tire your brain while doing it.
I understand why this book is not super highly rated but I think it deserves a little more. Overall I did enjoy this book. It was a quick read that made me happy and left all the unnecessary drama out.
Things I loved: -Brothers best friend trope - Found familyish trope - HEA - No unnecessary drama - No 3rd act break up, or any kind of break up for that matter. - MCs don't sleep around before they are together - Great Spice once they do get together. - Insta love - This is very debatable, which I understand. But I am okay with it and personally in this story I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure it was super insta love considering they have been best friends basically their entire lives and they finally realize after they hang out a few times that there is actually something more there.
Things that I didn't love: - yes, the plot was lacking some but I think I got enough out of the story that I didn't mind - The writing was a little lackluster. - I think the nickname "Buttercup" was a little over used.
Flipped between wanting to give this 3 or 4 stars. I did enjoy this book, but it’s a little too “insta-lovey” for me. Like, page 3 insta-love. I prefer a little more longing and angst in my stories. Build up the tension with longing, heated looks from across the room! Spice was on point though!
Tropes: 📌 brother’s best friend 📌 friends to lovers 📌 close proximity
𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 • ʙʀᴏᴛʜᴇʀ’s ʙᴇsᴛ ғʀɪᴇɴᴅ • ʜɪᴅᴅᴇɴ ʀᴇʟᴀᴛɪᴏɴsʜɪᴘ • ɪɴsᴛᴀ ʟᴜsᴛ 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 • {ᴏᴠᴇʀᴀʟʟ ᴛʜᴏᴜɢʜᴛs} Stop this was such an adorable read, the brothers best friend trope honeslty has my heart. This book had me on my toes the whole time, I could not put this book down I literally had to know what was going to happen next. The plot of going home after 4 years and suddenly being attracted to your brother best friend turned into a lovely story was just chefs kiss. I definitely want to get this book in paperback!! I will also definitely be reading more books by this author!! • {ᴄʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀs} In this book we are introduced to Tommy & Emory, and I actually really enjoyed these characters!! Tommy is a very hard working man, who works with his hands ;) in which Emory really likes.. hehe… Tommy was literally so cute, like he literally deserves the world. He would do anything for his family, and hates to see them hurt so when the brother finds out their is a big battle in his head but he makes sure to know that everything is okay and nothing would change between anyone. I can say that I really loved his character!!! I want the confidence Emory has, like she goes for what she wants even if she’s scared what the outcome might be. Her love and connection with her family is what I inspire to have. Every character in this book I absolutely loved and I can’t wait for future releases!! • {sᴘɪᴄᴇ} ohohohooh man was this spice spicy….. literally the amount of confidence they had when they were together just made everything so much better. I really enjoyed the way the spice scenes were written!! Loved loved loved!!!
The book was okay a little boring by the end I just wanted it to be over I feel like it was drawn out by the end to me but it was a good book if you like these I say go for it what took me out of it was why she keeps things to her self I get it was sad what happened when she was younger but to use that as an excuse to lie to everyone I including her brother almost running his friendship wasn’t the best reason to me and wasn’t worth it but it would be a plot if they did tell the truth if they kept it a secret just cause that would be different but that reasoning wasn’t it to me and it was really slow paced and the spice wasn’t spicey to me I could skip and not even miss anything maybe because it took me a minute to finish it but it’s a good like romance to read especially if you have kindle unlimited
Cute and sweet without much plot or substance. Characters are good and have some steamy encounters. Side characters add life and interest to the story. But this older brothers best friend story is one noted, as it all is about his reaction to them. Nothin else is going on.
Tommy grows up with Emory and Darius. His parents abandon him and they become family. When Emory comes home from college he suddenly sees her as more than a sister. Each is worried about Darius finding out.
That's kind of it. There are tender moments, some swoom but lots of cheese and some cringe as well. I gave it three stars for potential, steam and characters. Needed to beef up plot and dialogue, lots of internal monologues.
2.5⭐️ Should have Dnfed at 50%. Grew up together and it was basically a brother-sister relationship, but the minute they see each other after 4 years, it’s love and attraction? Weird that this college graduate is still going on fake dates/excursions to teach her what to accept from a man in the future with her brother and his best friend, ‘his brother’. She also doesn’t want to tell anyone that they’re in a relationship because she ‘keeps importante things close to her’, ugh that sure sounds a lot like hiding the relationship which the MMC doesn’t want to do.
Also we get it, then FMC’s brother/MMC’s best friend is a manwhore and sleeps around…
I loved the relationship dynamics between the characters and the pacing of the story. Nothing too dramatic happened which made it a really perfect book for a relaxing read, usually books are too drama and it can be exhausting. This book is the perfect book to read after reading very heavy books. I honestly enjoyed the plot and relationship itself the characters are so cute and the writing style of the author is what made this book so enjoyable.
I enjoyed this book and this couple. I also loved that it was childhood besties to lovers. I loved how they weren't affected by a crazy amount of trauma and they just loved each other. I also love that it didn't follow the general romance structure and they didn't break up at all. I think Darius was a bit of an idiot though and didn't really enjoy his character. 5/5 stars for me because I had a good time reading it.
This book was really good. It has some drama but not too much and was a good sweet read. I was a little irritated of course because the girl should have just obviously just told her brothers but that’s expected. I really enjoyed the couple and wish we got a peak of them with kids and more in the future but the ending was good. I would recommend this book. It was pretty and a quick read. 3.5/5
So fast It was a great late night read but I would never re read it and definitely not in broad daylight I was just tired enough to not wanna sleep but also not read smthn challenging and this was it It was so fast and honestly a bit boring But the first scene with the whole eating thing was very cute And I liked the brothers bsf trope It was good just nothing special by any means
This wasn't ground breaking, but I had a good time reading it and would read more books by this author. I think my favorite thing is that even though it was a brother's best friend romance, there wasn't too much angst because they hadn't been pining for each other their whole lives. It was super sweet but kind of sappy.
A nice spicy palate cleanser to read between some of the full on series’s I’ve been reading. Parts of it were a bit cringe, there were still some typos, and it was a bit jumpy/could’ve flowed better but overall pretty good. Would recommend if you like small town romance, and the older brother’s best friend trope.
Brother's best friend romance. After four years away at school Emory is home and for some reason now that she's back - her brother's best friend is no longer just his best friend, he's someone Emory can't stay away from. Tommy has always had a special bond with Emory but now that she's back, there's something about her that keeps drawing him to her.
The way I couldn’t finish this book until I had to skip to the end. If you’re into sweet, cheesy romances then this is for you. I was ok with all of that but i don’t know i felt like it was dragging on.
I’m sorry but it was just not my cup of tea, the whole time of her not wanting to fucking work and love a man with a real job was so fucking annoying and the way she hid it from her brother for no fucking reason she’s so shitty

This book is so sweet! It has me swooning, loving, laughing and crying as the pages turned. I love the love in this story. It’s a perfect wholesome weekend (or beach) read!
I loved this book so much that I ordered it in a paperback so that I could highlight it and never lose this book. It is a great brother's best friend love story. There are bumps along the way, but what love story does not have it.
I DNF’d this book at 60% of the way through. You will find more entertaining, more exciting reads on wattpad. Some books are all plot, no spice. Some books are all spice, no plot. This book was no plot, no spice.
Love the brothers best friend tropes so happy the brother and his best friend didn't mind expressing there love for each other without them feeling emasculated Really good read if you like a little spice and have a sense of humor very funny moments
This was cute and sweet. There were a couple plot holes and the misspellings and grammar were distracting. It’s definitely predictable and with not a lot of tension, but it was cute.
I love a brothers best friend love story and this one definitely hit the nail on the head I love Tommy and Emory 💚 they are so cute and he’s the perfect mix of dirty talker and golden retriever
