Kaye is no stranger to danger, nor is she afraid to roll up her sleeves and let her magic fly. Battling warlocks, goblins, and vampires is nothing new, but when she returns to her beautiful magic world of Alfheim, all hell breaks loose. Literally.
Add to that the fact that she’s in love with Darius, a dragon shifter, who is solely responsible for leading his clan of fierce dragon shifters, so her life is anything but simple.
And things are about to get a lot more complicated.
When the powerful duo faces a legion of darkness that threatens to destroy both worlds, it’ll take all their magic and skill to survive, especially when they learn there’s more to the strange attacks than meets the eye. Such as the kidnapping of a certain fae by ruthless hybrid hunters who will stop at nothing to steal her powers.
Kaye has a target on her back, and she’s about to walk into their trap.
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!! This is on my to-buy list!
The cover is awesome! I love how they all go together, and it definitely grabs my attention!
This is the 3rd book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the steamy content and violence. While it isn’t mandatory to read them in order, I highly suggest it because the parts are greater when read in order because the world and characters are much more in depth. This book does touch on kidnapping a child, and the kidnapper threatening the life of the child for any who may be sensitive towards this subject.
Kaye and Darius are an awesome duo! Both of their personalities are pretty amazing. Kaye doesn’t let anyone stand in the way of what she thinks is right even if it places her life in danger. Darius thinks the same thing only that Kaye shouldn’t do it! There is tons of action in this book. There is mystery and intrigue surrounding the hybrids, and there is an old foe come to cause more trouble. There are amazing things happening in this book, but I don’t want to ruin it for anyone. There is a ton going on in this book, and there is new information that you want to know.
Catherine does a fantastic job keeping you gripped in the story, and I didn’t want to put it down though being sick slowed me down! I definitely love this series, and I can’t wait to see where it goes next!
I highly recommend to paranormal fans who love shifters, witches, magic, hybrids, and more because you will find something you enjoy!
Magic Blaze by Catherine Vale is book 3 in her Shifting Magic series. In this book things pick right up where they left off. The fight is still on going and the threat is ever present for Kaye and her friends. But right now they are going to mourn the passing of Darius's father. Now, he must take his place as the Alpha and all that it stands for and that comes with it. It won't be an easy task but Kaye is determined to stand with him. The thing is is that she's not 100% sure she's ready to take on everything that would come with her becoming his mate should she choose. Kaye soon finds herself in a dangerous situation when she is poisoned and abducted. She quickly learns that it's not just her life that is in danger though. All those she loves are in real danger and she must help find an artifact if she hopes to save herself and them as well. I love how this book flows so smoothly and that it picks right up where the other ends. Kaye is such a strong character but apparently when her inner voice is warning her when she's in danger she picks and chooses when to listen. She's learning the traditions and other things concerning the dragons with the help of her father and her siblings that she has been reunited with. There are a few surprises that she is faced with but all in all she takes them in stride. For the most part I really do like her personality and her snarky attitude. It brings light and humor to the story. I love that she cares so much about Darius and that she is willing to seriously consider being his mate and helping to take on all the challenges that will entail. It's no easy job but if it was then it wouldn't be such a daunting task. This book definitely has several surprises in it but that is what just adds to it for me. I found it a bit annoying when she is abducted that she wants to act like the one who takes her is supposed to just let her flounce off to see her brother. She's been a part of the human world most of her life! She knows that's not how a kidnapping works! I found some humor in it but then I found it really ridiculous. lol That is probably one of my few complaints concerning this story was that. Because I was just like...honestly?! You know better! All in all I really enjoyed this book. Once I started reading I didn't want to put it down because it really gets so interesting and I love the dynamics between her and the other characters in this story. If you've read the other books in this series I highly recommend you grab this book, too. I know you'll enjoy it and devour it just like me. I am giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. Job very well done and another success from this author.
Kaye and Darius are back and they are fantastic! I have enjoyed all of Catherine Vale’s stories, but this, Magic Blaze, soars! Catherine Vale’s writing absolutely shines in this story.
Magic Blaze is full of energy, emotions, and heart. Kaye is put through so many trials in this story and watching her growth is beautiful. Her strength and will and selflessness give you a new appreciation for her. Seeing her and Darius’ relationship evolve is heartwarming and I could feel their connection every step of the way. This story was so energized and full of feelings. And the ending was just magical. I truly enjoyed this story and didn’t want it to end.
An epic conclusion to a soaring action-packed series. I absolutely loved the adventure and growth each of the characters experienced. The book had a satisfying and lasting conclusion that leaves to book open to endless possibilities. I voluntarily reviewed an arc from the author.
I enjoyed this final installment of the Shifting Magic trilogy. It wrapped up several overarching issues nicely and left a few windows open for possible spin-offs should Ms. Vale decide to revisit the world of Shifting Magic. That said, the main storyline arc was resolved. No cliffhangers here!
I loved the new character of Aden! He's a bad guy with a heart!
As much as I loved the book, some Kaye's internal monologue became annoying and tiring after a while. She definitely has a healthy ego--which is fine, but at times it was too much. I considered skipping the internal stuff at times. Her possessiveness of Darius (constantly calling him my dragon) became irritating, but I figured it was the dragon side of her personality.
I loved seeing more of Kaye's family on her bio-dad's side. Her interactions with her sister, Leda, were delightful. I also enjoyed hearing James's voice as well.
I loved Darius in this novel. Actually, I can't think of anything about him I haven't liked in all three books. In this book, he has to deal with something extremely painful and he rises to the occasion as expected. I love the relationship he has with both Kaye and his mother, Cynthia.
While I was given a free advance copy to read, I also purchased the book to support a favorite author.
Writing quality: Good Violence: Yes Sexual content: Yes Narration: Third person Plot: Some twists Mood: Romantic and Suspenseful with well-placed comedic moments Pace: Fast for the most part
WOW! What an incredibly engaging, magic filled, battle to the end story that will have you reading straight through to the end.
Kaye the Fae is a hybrid (Fae/Dragon Shifter) who is the target of the hybrid hunters, led by a fae that she thought was a friend while they were growing up. Darius is a Dragon Shifter, and Fae's, although she may not be ready for the whole mate thing, he is hers and she is his. With the death of Darius' father, Darius is the destined Alpha to his families clan. Does Kaye have what it takes to become his mate and the Queen to the clan? She doesn't know if she can do that, but before she can begin to even ponder that thought and make a decision, she is kidnapped by a powerful Djinn who needs her, a hybrid, to find the hidden artifacts created by long ago hybrids.
With a battle heading towards the dragon clan, threatening destruction, Kaye will do whatever it takes to save them, even if that means trusting a Djinn she knows she probably shouldn't trust. But they both want the same thing, right? Stop Jasmine, the Fae leading the hunters that are threatening all shifters and hybrids. Will Kaye find the artifacts, and if so, can she stop the battle and Jasmine before her family and friends are destroyed?
I accepted an advanced copy of this story and am providing my honest review. This is an incredible magical series with a wide variety of supernatural, Fae, dragons, elves, witches, warlocks, demons, and more. If you are looking for a new series that will have you reading until the early morning hours, because you just can't put the book down, this is it. Well done Catherine Vale, I can't wait to se what you write next!
Another fascinating, action-filled fantasy romance from Ms. Vale. Kaye returns home with Darius to the funeral ceremony for his father and to support him as he becomes Alpha. She didn't expect the adventure if you could call it that.
Kaye wants to be there for Darius despite his added responsibilities. He needs her strength. Their love grows stronger. Their enemies grow in number. When a certain Magic character enters the picture her plans elude her. Danger. Distrust. A journey of tests. How will she end the journey? Will she even be alive?
What she learns on her dangerous travels she'll need and so will Darius and his people. An old enemy resurfaces. Who are her friends and who will stand with her?
This one is difficult to discuss without giving away spoilers. Not this reviewer. I can tell you there is never time to relax. The lovers draw ever closer but are tested. There is danger all around. Most of all: if you are a Magic character's fan, a Catherine Vale Fan, or just like a great story this one is for you.
I seem to be saying this about a lot of books of late, I'm coming at this series from the wrong end. This finale is the first book in the series that I've read. And not having read any of the books before, I can say it successfully operates as a standalone title. There are some prior events and context that aren't perfectly understood without the earlier books but the connections between all the characters are there and that's where the most important parts of the story take place. It's filled with action and magic, love and sacrifice. There are intriguing little plot twists around every corner that kept me desperately reading to find out how it would all end. Even knowing how it all turns out, I'm inspired to go back and read what takes place before, that brings them to this point and lands all the drama and strife on their doorstep. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
Darius and Kaye are back as they head back to Darius's village to crown him alpha. With Kaye by his side Darius knows he can do this, when he wakes up to find Kaye missing they look everywhere for her until he hears from Kaye and isn't happy with what she tells him, when Kaye finally gets home the fight has already started.
Kaye can't believe she's been kiddnapped again the djinn tells her the are more people like her, asking her to help him find ancient relic that can help either the war that's coming, but to get it only Kaye can do the challenges they have to face. When they complete everything the djinn poisons Kaye agin and takes off with the relic. When Kaye joins the fight she and Jasmine battle it out when Kaye feels her inner strength coming she doesn't know what happening until she can she things more clearly. To find out what happens will Darius and Kaye finally put an end to all he war?
WOW! So didn't see this story coming! With Darius's father gone, he and Kaye are heading back to be with his family. After they have the ceremony for his father, then the alpha ceremony, which Kaye wishes someone warned her about, and the start of a talk about being his mate Kaye is kidnapped. Now she has to help the Djinn get this artifact, help him defeat an old enemy and get back to Darius. During this all she finds out there used to be more of those like her, Hybrids.
When you start reading the book you're right back where the last one left off and then it takes off! Old friends are part of this book and a new one, so hope we see him again. Once I started reading it I couldn't stop, there wasn't a place to do so! Can't wait for more! I received a copy under no obligation.
I like Catherine Vale’s writing so I was pleased to be offered an ARC in exchange for a review. Unfortunately, I did not like the voice of Kaye, the main character. Also, and this may have been partially due to the voice, I found the story very slow moving in the beginning. I really had trouble engaging until Aden appeared. He may have been my favorite character.
To me, Kaye was a bit of a know-it-all and a bit too self-satisfied. I got tired of her referring to “my dragon” instead of just saying “Darius.” Her references to her curves and her personality traits bugged me. This could have been rectified easily by switching the narration to 3rd person.
Ultimately, I couldn't see giving this book more than 3 stars (maybe 3.5). It's not a bad book, but it's not one I'll feel compelled to read again.
I absolutely loved this story. It is the continuation of Kaye the fae/dragon hybrid and Darius the dragon. Kaye is a strong woman who deeply loves her dragon man but due to the death of his father Darius is now the king of his clan and she is not sure she is ready for all that being a queen entails. She asks for time when he puts the will you be my mate question to her. She gets drawn out of Darius's cabin by Aden the djinn and so the adventure begins.
I just love how Ms. Vale draws you into the story. This story is rich in action, drama, romance and passion as well as having to defeat the evil villainess Jasmine the niece of Abramelin. I highly recommend this to all those shifter lovers out there.
I voluntarily read an advance copy and was not compensated in any way for this opinion.
An epic showdown is brewing. Kate and Darius are the main targets. Darius is elevated to Alpha after his father passes away. This prompts a decision for Kate. Is she ready to be the new Alphas mate? Does she want to get married and be tied down forever? Just as she is contemplating this important life decision, another obstacle is dropped in Kaye's lap. Kaye is told that an old enemy is still on her trail and determined to wipe out all shifters, especially Kaye and Darius. Kaye is taken on a path that tests her hybrid nature but she can't focus on that for long because the danger is real, and the stakes are extremely high.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book and was not compensated in any way.
Fascinating Finale to this Fae/Dragon/Hybrid story!!
Danger and war escalate as certain factions try to eradicate shifters – Dragons in particular. Dragon-shifter Darius must rise to Alpha status with the death of his father. Kaye our Fae/Dragon hybrid must decide if she is to become his mate with all that entails. She also becomes the target of those who want her gone. One assassin has a better use for her which includes three trials, but he must keep her alive as more than one assassin was dispatched.
A battle for survival, tons of magic, conflicting alliances and an inner dragon who cannot makes its way out all coalesce into a story which will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final page.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
This is an amazing series and the magic blaze is the 3rd book in the series Kaye always thought she was a Fae but she found out she is half Fae half dragon shifter. Darius is a dragon shifter in this book Darius' father dies. He and Kaye head home for the funeral and for Darius to become the clan ruler. You would think after the last epic battle they just had that things would be over but no. Jasmine is up to her dirty tricks and put a hit on kaye and that's as much as I can tell you. Lol I don't want to give the amazing story away. It has mystery, action, drama, magic and betrayal. With great characters. Don't miss it! This one is awesome Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.
I have been really enjoying this series and recommend you read them all in order to get the most enjoyment. I love strong female characters and Kaye is really growing as she learns more about her abilities and her heritage.
The book has a great mix of romance and action and it really keeps your attention. There are some surprises that really change things for her. I really like how the relationship between her and Darius has grown slowly and has not been rushed by the author. They have really grown to respect one another and support each other thru some very deadly situations.
I highly recommend the series to those who enjoy fantasy mixed with romance and action.
Still doubting of her capabilities and not feeling ready for what awaited her with Darius, Kate was immersed in a dangerous adventure where she had to prove herself. The evil one was waiting for her and threating all the hybrids and her friends in what seemed a never-ending war for power. Could Kate overcome her doubts and embrace her destiny? Intriguing new character, action, adventure, exciting fights, suspense, romance, passion and a very interesting and emotional ritual at the beginning of the story that made me felt with the characters. Good detailed descriptions and narrations that made me visualize the scenes.
As I reached the conclusion of this tale, I couldn't help but think about the old Aesop’s fables as well as Grimm fairy tales. During my childhood reading experiences, these tales had morals to be learned. I read this tale and couldn't help but wonder…in today's world, what would people pick when given the choice of saving their child or saving their mate? It's sad but many would not choose their child. They look to soothe their conscience by debating the definition of life rather than face their own short comings. This book is written as fantasy, yet I wish those that are lacking would learn the value in the lesson contained in these pages! A beautiful tale written by a masterful author!
I enjoyed the latest from Catherine Vale and the Shifting Magic series. Kaye and her dragon are headed to his home after the lose of his father. Darius returns home to his dragon clan to pick up the reigns after his alpha father has passed. What should be a time of mourning for for Darius and Kaye offering support in any way that he needs ends up being another battle with Kaye being at the heart of it all. Yet in the midst of it all Kaye realizes that Darius is the only one for her and she will do whatever it takes to be the mate he needs and deserves. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Darius and Kaye continue the journey in this story. Kaye has returned with Darius to his family dragon holding on an urgent matter.
Love the continuing story line as it evolves around their lives. Darius will be tasked and tried, will he be strong enough to survive? While Kaye will be pulled in many directions with a test of her character. Can she pass and save all that are important to her?
This story is out to test the main character to their limits.
I have read and voluntarily reviewed this book received from the author without obligation to do so
4.5 Stars I love this series and this was another great installment. It starts off really sad which had my eyes tearing up. The way everything was described I could feel the grief. This one had me so hooked I was on the edge of my seat pretty much the whole time because you couldn't tell which way things would go for Kaye and her friends. I liked the twists it took. Great writing by Catherine Vale. I enjoyed the humorous moments because it helped lighten up a serious story with everything that was on the line. If you haven't read this series I highly recommend giving this one a read!
Stunning! The death of the Archmage should have been the end. Unfortunately he has a willing replacement that jumps into the void. Being abducted is also not what she expected? Will she find what she is looking for - a way to stop the evil once and for all? A terrific ending that has you routing for all the characters you have grown to love in the series. Also the romantic angle is played just right. Not overwhelming the story but enhancing it. A really great read that ends just when it should.
This picks up right after book 2. Kaye and Darius are heading back to his home to take care of some business. A very naughty Djinn makes an appearance and things move quickly. Really enjoyed how this book all wrapped up. So much I want to talk about, but don't want to post spoilers. Just go read it, you will enjoy how things go! I would even love a novella or a spin off series letting us know how Quinn and the others are doing after the dust settles.
Entertaining and satisfying conclusion to this series. From Fae to shifters and goblins, these books contain a wide variety of paranormal characters in a wonderful, unique setting. The plot moves at a steady pace that will keep you reading until you have reached the end. We can't forget the romance. These stories have a little bit of everything. A great way to spend an afternoon.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave a truthful review.
What a epic entertaining and satisfying conclusion to this series. I really enjoyed how this book wrapped up this magical series with a wide variety of supernatural will have your attention from beginning to end. It's jammed packed with lots of intrigue, action, and of course steamy romance everything you need for a great read. Overall a enjoyable read. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
In Magic Blaze Kaye really comes into her own. I like that even when she has to go it alone she never forgets Darius, she never leaves him hanging. Their motto "we do it together or not at all" is the way mates should be. Reading this story is like being in this "world". The battle action and mysterious creatures flavor this story but the true meat is these characters and their growth and struggle for right and equality and love.
I have swooned after Darius since the first book. He and Kaye are a force to be reckoned with. Apart, they are tested and tried both from outside forces and from inside doubting themselves. Their journey was magically delicious! While this is not the first in the series, it can be read as a standalone. If you want all of the swooning time you can get, you should start with the first in the series.
This was a well-written, fast-paced, entertaining urban fantasy novel. Kaye is a hybrid, part fae and part dragon shifter. She's become experienced at being hunted by supernatural creatures, but something even more evil is coming after her now. It can be read as a standalone story, though it is the third in the Shifting Magic series. I enjoyed this book very much and will be looking for the first two in the series, as well as the next in the series and others by this author.
This is my favourite book in this series, Kaye and Darius may have won the battle but the war isn't yet over, with jasmine set on revenge and determined to continue what her uncle started she enlists the help of a Djinn, well more like forces the djinn to help by taking something of his ! With their clan once again under attack Kaye is willing to sacrifice herself for those she loves. An action packed read that I didn't want to end.
