Unfrozen Four #2

Eight Weeks

Rate this book
Sofia Carlsen has been living the majority of her life running away from her past. Unfortunately that also meant running away from her childhood best friends.
After having moved to a whole different country at the age of seven, and being promised to be back four years later, something traumatic happened, messing up the original plans.
While a promise made shortly before her departure kept her heart in New City, she was still an ocean apart from him.

Aaron Marsh is good at making promises, determined to never break one. He has big dreams but an even bigger mouth when it comes to Sofia. When he heard she would move away, Aaron couldn’t help himself but to promise Sofia to be together again. Given that she was only supposed to stay away for four years, an easy promise to hold on to, right?

But what if four years turn into thirteen?

After thirteen years apart, childhood sweethearts meet again. Soon Aaron finds out that Sofia needs someone to spend the holidays with. Naturally, Aaron is her guy; making yet another promise to her.
Being in a forced proximity for weeks, they get closer again and are quick to learn that neither of them ever stopped holding on to the promises Aaron made. Now only one question remains;

Will they make it?

Will Aaron have to break his promises, or is he able to make the ones made at the age of eight come true?

Again, questionable choices at the end by the author.

I literally had to force myself to try to care about them. I didn’t.

Also will not be back for the next book. Her twin?!?! No Miles, NOPE. I’m out

This book is the reason people say they hate reading. This book gave me 2nd hand embarrassment the entire time. This book made me want to puke.
1. You can’t be in love with someone at 8 years old
2. They can’t move away and you still be in love with them at 22
3. If I ever hear the phrase “lick his muscles” again I’m going to lose it

First thing first, not only did the author write an Epilogue but an EXTENDED EPILOGUE TOO!! We shall thank you for your service!

This book took me a while to finish but honestly I really liked it, the writing was good and the plot line was really interesting. I loved Sophia and Aaron so much!
The fact they were childhood best friends and had a crush on each-others is SO cute. Plus they fake dated and they traveled from USA to GERMANY for it!

And then he traveled all the way to Germany again, for her just like he promised eight weeks after her leaving.

Aaron is THE fictional boyfriend we all need, he is affectionate and did nothing but LOVE Sophia.
Don’t get me wrong I love my toxic, walking red flags hot asf Man but we do need from time to time an affectionate, caring loving, walking green flag guy. Especially if he plays hockey!!

A very cute Rom-Com I would definitely recommend it to everyone!!

I don´t know why I read this book truly. I didn´t like the first book cause in my opinion it didn´t represent mental health in the best way and the plotwas weird. But I still read this book, why? maybe I wanted to punish myself, in that case I succeeded.

I didn´t like Aaron, didnt like him from the first book and this book didnt help. The way he spoke about and with Winter was condescending truly. I get that she is a bitch but he basically said that she was only good for fu*king and just called her when he wanted his d*ck sucked knowing she was obsessed and wanted a relationship with him. That was cruel of him. Sofia bored me. not much more to say.

Eight weeks, eight WEEKS, not eight years. it´s two months. it´s less than a summer break. eight weeks while being in school feels like eight seconds so I don´t get the problem. Yeah a shit book truly.

This book? Oh my god, amazing, like man, Aaron Marsh, you got me in love to an Aaron again. Anyway, this book was so incredible cute that I was smiling like an idiot every time I was reading it. Sofia and Aaron’s relationship was just perfect, the main reason? THE CHILDHOOD CRUSH AND FAKE DATING TROPE. Like how do you want me to not be into this book?? Like the childhood crush trope is good, but the fake dating one? Amazing.

This book is definitely the representation of soulmates. Sofia and Aaron deserved their happy ending since childhood and they got oh my god. And we didn’t get one, but TWO epilogues about them.

Im definitely going to buy this book when it comes out and put a million of tabs on it like I did for Nine Days.

If you hesitate to read this book, don’t, buy it right now.

The concept and overall plot for the book was good, but overall it wasn’t that great to me. The pacing was confusing, I was unclear on the whole timeline, and there were grammar mistakes that made this a hard read.

Okay Joelina just knows how to write
Her first book “nine days” was better I have to admit that but the stories were so different from eachother. This one was more childhood friends —> soulmates meet again🫶🏼

the overall concept of this book was good and for me it was so fun to read..and it had good follow on from the book nine days as i was missing colin and lily, their appearance in this book as a couple was just cuteeeee and it ofc had nice side characters as well..
as the first book for me was a roller coaster ride of emotions this one just gave me butterflies..
this book felt like a slowburn and it's plot twists and their relationship was just beautiful, knowing more about Aaron, his personality, his nature..ilovehim 🥹🫶 (bppburs, iykyk 🤭)
and the end of this book?? i was so happy for sofia and aaron they got what they deserved ❤️‍🩹

After having been blown away by Lily and Colin, I thought I might give this book a try as well.
And it did not disappoint!

I love the way the author doesn't degrade their leads for having problems unlike other authors do. And the love interest doesn't degrade the mc either!

Aaron and Sofia are the definition of soulmates. I ate up their chemistry. Their banter was on point. The moments of bottled-up feelings coming to surface. Everything.
The way I swooned over Aaron asking that one very question or when he renewed the promises. Oh, boy.

* Aaron Marsh
* This was a great second book in the series, it felt like a feel good read and didn’t try too hard
* The writing style makes my heart warm, the writer does well at creating a great picture and staying true to the story at hand without swaying
* I loved the depth it provides about each character, Sophie and Aaron have their own complexities and although the story was kind of mundane, it didn’t need much to be a great read

This was so disappointing, which makes me sad because I did enjoy the first book in the series. However, I have never made so many notes in a book, and that's not a good thing…

For starters, the childhood love thing would have been far more believable if they were at least over the age of 10. 13 would have been believable, but 15 would have made sense and would have made the story so much better. It was really hard to resonate with these characters being in love with someone since they were 7 years old, going no contact for more than a decade, then still being in love after all this time. I mean, Sofia even says she was too young to grasp prices at that age, but somehow she could grasp being out of her mind in love and believing promises to get together years later with someone? If they were just a bit older it would make so much more sense.

Then, there were a ridiculous amount of weird plot lines. We have Sofia's ex-boyfriend who's now dating her sister. We have Aaron who's mom Parent-Trapped him and sent him to live with his dad, only for Aaron to show up and have a single chapter at the beginning of the book to get his closure and it's never mentioned again. We have girls disappearing in Sofia's small town in Germany and she feels guilty because she could've been one of them. We have Sofia thinking she killed her Grandpa when she was 12 so she refused to live in the US again (except for in college?) even though she actually didn't kill him and he had a heart attack. Finally, we have Sofia's sister confessing that she was only with Leon to prevent Sofia from getting back with a shitty guy. Can you see why this is a bit much? They were all so disconnected and it was beyond strange. Like, pick one storyline that Sofia struggles with and intertwine it with the entire story.

The bad communication trope is also one of my least favourite things in the world. Sofia wanting to be with Aaron but can't and not explaining why for half the book? She kept saying how much she dreams of him and how much she wants him and she knows he wants her but they just can't be together. Why not??? Then finding out that the big reason they can't be together is because she thought she killed her Grandpa so now she refuses to live in the state of New York and has been ghosting her grandma ever since? Then we find out she actually didn't kill her grandpa so her begging her parents to move back to Germany and her keeping her distance from Aaron was for nothing? She was just a very unlikable character that did not resonate with me at all.

Finally, Aaron was romantic, but the way he talked about Winter (essentially uses her for sex until he could be with Sofia) and his lack of action when he found out his sister was suicidal was not a good look. I also didn't really resonate with him.

In the end, they loved each other for what exactly? It seemed like they just loved each other because of the nostalgia, they never really said what they love about each other.

Also - Sofia becomes an author? She mentions reading like twice in the book and occasionally writing, but never serious enough that you think she is actually passionate about it.

This book feels like something written on Wattpad by a teenager with the way it's structured. There are so many random plot points that are SOOOOOOOOOOOO underdeveloped and completely not foreshadowed. Honestly, most of the book feels like it's just plot points being shoved together. What happened to show not tell? The entire plot of the book was literally explained in the first 100 pages, but not expanded on or developed in an interesting way. That phone call with her brother laid everything out, so the rest of the book was a bore.
Any other 'interesting' point felt rushed and completely forced. There was barely any foreshadowing for the 'traumatic event', her relationship with her father, and the crazy ending with her sister.
The thing with her sister was so weird. She completely changed personalities in 1 page and apparently fucked Leon to help her sister (wtf?), and she never hated Sofia at all and did everything for her.

Even the tropes were underdeveloped. The 'fake dating' was such a bore, and the only good part of the childhood crushes came from Aaron. Aaron was basically the only good thing in this book, but he had no personality at all. Also, what was with the random alcoholism when Sofia left for Germany in the end? Not only was it tasteless because he's a COLLEGIATE ATHLETE who would be kicked off the team if he was getting shitfaced at 5 pm, but it was also useless because it was, you guessed it, UNDERDEVELOPED.

This whole book was just telling, not showing.

This book… oh my. I read the first one a few months ago and I loved it but it was also difficult to go throw because of the topics that are talked. Also, for me it was a slower read, like I read it but it was so long that sometimes I just had to pause and go back a few hours later.

But not with this book, Eight weeks is a really, really, really amazing book. The whole plot is so much more enjoyable and it was so fun reading it. I loved Sofia and Aaron so much. In Nine days, when we get to know Aaron, you don’t imagine he’s going to be like this, but then you read this book and discover that he has an amazing personality, he’s a good friend and loves Sofia with everything he has and more.

When the set up changed to Germany, I actually loved the change of scenery, it was a really good twist to the plot. Everything they experienced in Europe was so easy to read, so enjoyable. Since the first time Aaron and Sofia saw each other after 13 years, you could tell it was not over, it would never be over.
The whole book makes you love all the characters, even Sofia’s sister Julia, that doesn’t treat her that well, in the end you understand that she’s not bad.

What I loved most about the book was the epilogue that’s 3 years later and also the extended epilogue where you see everything that Aaron and Sofia have built. It totally was a book to fall in love with 😍.
