The Lost Treasure of Drakon

Rate this book
When you’re Maggie Edwards, trouble follows you everywhere.

Thrilled to leave behind the pressures of her government position and her boutique, Maggie Edwards packs her bags for a quiet vacation in the Scottish countryside. She quickly becomes disillusioned when she finds her entire team at the airport and then experiences a series of disasters that sidetrack her plans and sends her to the supposedly haunted Clydescolm Castle.

But when Maggie stumbles upon a Norse dragon carving, delayed flights and phantom bagpipers will be the least of their problems. The intrepid team becomes tangled in an investigation of a lost Viking treasure horde. One large enough to save Clydescolm from financial ruin. And large enough to have attracted the attention of some very dangerous people.

It will prove to be another exciting discovery. If they can stay alive long enough to find it…

This is the third installment of the Maggie Edwards Adventure Series and it proves to be just as exciting, adventurous, dangerous, and humorous as her preceding exploits.
Maggie decides to take off on a much-needed vacation, away from the chaos of her government position and her boutique responsibilities, with her boyfriend Henry and chooses Scotland as their destination. Maggie's plans soon turn into chaos when she finds her entire team of misfits at the airport and then she experiences a series of disasters that sidetrack her plans and send her to Clydescolm Castle, home of the notorious Bagpiper Ghost. When the team reaches the castle, she is soon drawn into an exploration to find the long-lost Norse Viking Treasure of the Drakon.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this installment of Maggie's adventure. Nellie H Steele did a wonderful job of establishing a premise to interject other characters from her other series books to make the journey that much more interesting. The characters were comparable to her other Maggie Edwards book, making the feel of reading familiar to Maggie Edwards fans. The plot was well developed, fast-paced, and action-packed. The world-building was remarkable and of course, Nellie makes you feel like you would follow Maggie anywhere. I highly recommend this new Maggie Edward's adventure to all the Indian Jones-type fans. (I received a free ARC copy of this book for an honest review).

This time its finding the four keys to find the Lost Treasure of Drakon. This book and series is so much fun! Lots of Indiana Jones references as well as a few reveals! 🖍️ “Can’t wait to tell you, chicky!” “No, no, chicky, not dating.” He flashed his left hand. “Married.” “I know it’s a terrible blow, chicky.”

Thirty-six mentions of "chicky" throughout. Henry was much too fem for my liking. This novel was not for me, chicky. And yes, there is a yellow feathery chicky on the cover. Ha. Ha.

🗑 Other readers may find this story their lost treasure of tea and crumpet. It wasn't mine.
