What in the Tyler Perry movie is this? I can’t believe I read this. Last week I was blissfully unaware of this book’s existence until I saw it on Twitter. Even knowing that it would be awful I still decided to read it because I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
The book itself is a mess. Very little makes sense and it reads like an R rated Tyler Perry movie or something from Tubi. There is no working plot. What we have instead is our main character Nunu, and the unfortunate events that happen to her. She jumps from the pan to the fire. From the fire to hell. The title tells you all you need to know. She is the stripper who is having the pastor’s baby.
She is a caricature of a woman. She is a character made up of all the stereotypes that have ever existed about black women. She is loud, vulgar, rude, irresponsible and abrasive. She sees herself as a “bad bitch” unlike other women but in truth she is foolish, naive, and too full of herself. I don’t have a problem with the fact that she’s an unlikable character but with how badly this was done.
You can tell she was written by a man and not in a good way. This is because there are large chunks of this book that are off. It reads like the author is projecting and at one point I couldn’t even tell if Nunu’s stereotyping and racism was all her or the author. I could however tell that this author doesn’t know how to write women.
Nunu has no real friends. Her relationships with other women involve threats, slut shaming, backstabbing, and being bitchy to each other. Everyone in this book especially the women are portrayed as awful people. Everything is written to generate drama and maximum shock value. There are racist & sexist stereotypes, slurs, and curse words.
Towards the end there is a brief thing about HIV (hello Tyler Perry) which didn’t even have to be there. There is also a tampon scene à la Fifty Shades of Grey which was gross. This was an annoying and predictable little book. The only saving grace is that it was mercifully short. *Would not recommend.
I only read this book to finish it, it was stupid. I wasn't impressed with this book at all. Readers don't waste your time. I only gave it one star 🌟cause i had no chose. Ten thumbs down for me. Trust me when I say I won't bother reading part 2.
I can’t believe how crazy but realistic this story was. Nashawna reminds me of so many younger people I know who feel everything wrong in their life is someone else’s fault. I’m guessing her mom may have told her the pastor was her dad. But with Quan Millz it could be something more bizarre. I couldn’t put the story down.
I NEVER rate anything under 3 stars or I just won’t rate it. I was recommended this book and I saw some decent reviews but what just happened? I almost DNFed on every page. I only pushed through as it was so short. I am speechless and not in a good way.
The story was interesting, especially coming off the social media flurry that the real Pastor Wilson caused recently. I read it to see what the author would do with it. A young misguided woman who thought extortion was the way to go ended up in a situation she could not have predicted. The heavily accented dialect didn't make this a smooth read. But the author did what he does best and that is to describe people/situations in a sickening way that you can't turn away from as much as you want. He does ratchet like no other.
Finding out that Quan Millz might actually be white recently made this book a bit less enjoyable for me, given all the negative stereotypical and racial slurs that are used throughout his novels against black people. That being said this is still one of the best books of his I’ve read, the storyline follows some legal issues and extortion and leaves on a cliff hanger so he’s getting better as a writer in comparison to his first books.
LAUGH MY BUTT OFF!!! This book was hilarious. I can see the author has a vivid imagination. The beginning of the book was quite cringey and I couldn’t get through the first scene without envisioning an old, toothless, decrepit man that no woman would want giving oral to make up for his unattractiveness and impotence. The dialogue was over the top, and not how flesh and blood humans really speak to each other. The sex scenes were unrealistic, accompanied by the overuse of church talk that rarely occurs when holy rollers get down and dirty. I love this author’s quirky titles, but the opening chapter made my skin crawl and wasn’t worth the time trying to force myself to finish it.
definitely less polished or well thought out than e.g. "Old THOT Next Door", but still entertaining and shocking. Me and my girls had fun doing our book club reading with another Quan Millz book. 🫶🏻
It’s me again, international best selling author quan millz.
No, but I did read this book, and I have to say it was awful. The kind of awful that haunts you at night, the kind of awful that could truly be a monster under your bed. The story was confusing, the main character was a stripper who made decent money, then she lived in section 8, then she was a hooker, and she lived with her best friend who had 5 kids, 4 baby daddies, and no one paid child support, but the kids were never mentioned in the home.
I’m not dumb, this book is obviously a parody of some of the insane erotica that exists, however I think parody is only good when it isn’t so blatant, when it teeters towards satirical rather than parody. I’ve always found satire to be a much more compelling humorous critique than parody, however that is neither here nor there.
I also feel as though there is a misogynistic undertone in his writing and his choice to parody a female dominated genre, but that could be my “friend that is too woke” moment.
Will I ever pick up a quan millz book again? Unlikely.
Also did not appreciate the slur usage in the book, come on now was the r word really needed🤨

What can I say about this book other than my mouth was agape the entire time. And I will say Nunu as the MC was good and she provides an interesting narration. What I enjoy is that she isn’t a good person but she’s doing her best. Did she do all that shit yeah…but she’s just trying to live her life…like damn. The ending left me confused and…horrified?? Anyway it was a blast for my long car ride!!!
This book was garbage. 😂 I just wanted it to be over. I thought I was going to enjoy it more, but it was raunchy in the wrong kind of ways. Prostitution, suicide, extortion, STDs, lock up and incest: this book has it all! The recipe to make even ME extremely uncomfortable. And that’s saying a lot because I voluntarily saw a midget KISS tribute band last night. Wouldn’t recommend this book.
