A bullet stole her husband. A medical breakthrough just might bring him back.
Andrea Cole’s life shattered the night her husband was shot. The bullet didn’t kill him, but it left him unable to retain new memories. Essentially, he became stuck in time—at least until a medical breakthrough offers her a glimpse of hope.
Preston Morgan wakes in the hospital with a ten-year gap in his memory. His kid sister is now grown and married, and he has no clue why, Andrea Cole, a soldier he’d trained with in the Army, is at his hospital bedside. Andi no longer seems like the cold, no-nonsense soldier he’d served with on the battlefield. She makes him laugh, and heaven help him, she makes him want.
Andi promises the doctor she won’t force Preston’s recovery by telling him of their past—but she only agrees to wait one month. Yet as the pair grow close again, keeping their marriage a secret eats at her. How can she keep the truth from him, especially knowing there’s a snaggletooth little boy at home desperate to meet a father he’s never truly known?
This is book 2 in Staci Warren's Texas Hearts series. While Warren gives enough information that this can stand on it's own - I'd encourage you to read book 1, Legal Trouble first. Operation Remember Us and my review for it contain spoilers to book 1.
I loved this one just as much as the first. Warren is great at balancing romance, mystery, and drama together in what could almost be called a second-chance romance. After a devastating injury six years ago, Preston is missing the past 10 years of his life. That includes his entire romantic relationship with his wife, Andi and even their adorable son PJ.
Warren put these two through the wringer. Preston desperately seeking answers and Andi having to hold back under strict doctor's orders. While most of the book alternates between Andi and Preston's perspectives, there are a few chapters from PJ's. And oh my heart! Sweet PJ who knows Preston is his father but also knows he can't admit it yet. It was as devastating as what his parents are going through.
Preston falls in love with Andi again and it's at turns adorable and sexy and heartbreaking and hilarious. His assumptions juxtaposed against Andi's evasiveness create misunderstandings that both struggle to overcome. I loved how Preston's sister Em, Noah, Noah's family, and Preston's fellow army buddies come together to support this fledgling family.
I don't want to spoil what a beautiful story this is because I want others to experience it for themselves. I love how Warren brings them together and the precious epilogue. I enjoy her writing (and of course, the Texas setting) can't wait for Ethan's story, Sins of the Father.

Audiobook Review: Imagine suddenly waking up and realizing that ten years have passed, but you have no memory of them. That's what happened to the hero. He suffered a traumatic brain injury while saving his sister from their violent father. Some pretty cool nanobot technology exists in this slightly altered version of our reality, and these nanobots are slowly repairing his brain. For these past years, he hasn't been able to hold a memory for longer than a day. But as the book opens, the nanobots have done enough repair so that he can retain current memories and is starting to rebuild old ones. So he has no idea that he ever fell in love with and married one of his fellow soldiers and that they have a young son.
As you might imagine, much of the story is heart-wrenching. You can't help but feel for everyone in this story as they try to get their lives back on track. The doctors ask his wife and family to hold back on details about his prior life for a month so that he can get acclimated to his new reality without being overwhelmed. It's very hard for his wife, as you might imagine, not to be able to reveal they are married and have a child. (For most of the book, the hero incorrectly believes that she was married to an old Army buddy of theirs and that this now-deceased friend is the father of her son.) Early on, she determines to seduce him anew so that they can start to build their relationship even before he knows everything. There's a secondary plot involving an imperiled young girl who's very reminiscent of the hero’s sister and the danger they went through as children because of their father. I found the entire story compelling, and the characters extremely sympathetic. It was a satisfying, if sometimes heartbreaking, listen.
I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.
This is book two in The Texas Hearts series and it is Andrea and Preston’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Andrea and Preston were in the military together and now married and so much in love so you can just imagine when everything around them collapsed. Preston is shot by his evil father and now he has lost ten years of his memories and life so he doesn’t remember being married to Andrea or that they have a son but they are hoping in time that his memories will come back but in the mean time Andrea is devastated as she has been told not to reveal there life as it is better for Preston to recall them on his own but they don’t know how long it will take and Andrea and Preston’s sister Emma are not only in shock but also they don’t know what the future holds for them all. This book had me hooked right from the first page and I read it in one sitting as I couldn’t put it down and it was so emotional that it had me in tears many times but still I had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next and what the outcome would be for them all. I definitely recommend that you read this book and series and you will not be disappointed and I can’t wait to read more books in the future.
Operation Remember Me is a sweet, heartfelt story. It pulls you in, your heart aching for the pain Andi is going through and for everything Preston has faced.
This couple came together as team-mates and became so much more. We all face tragedy in our lives and deal with it the best we can, but watching Preston and Andi go through their own personal hell broke my heart. I wanted to reach out and hold them close, giving them my unwavering support as they all fought through the pain.
The addition of Ems and PJ just added a gentle roundness to its depth. Staci did admirably in showing these side characters emotions and feelings. Bringing them alive with flare and compassion.
Staci Warren is a new author to me but definitely an author I would read again. She portrayed depth and understanding throughout the book, her characters coming to life with ease.
Staci writes with an obvious love for her art and would definitely recommend this to be read as a stand-alone or as part of her Texas Heart series. Definitely a 5 star recommendation
This is Book Two in the Texas Hearts series really tugged at my heart strings. Which in writing this I really just got the visual of “heart strings” for the first time 🤔💔 Anyways, I enjoyed it. The military aspect of it made the sense of family feel so deep and beautiful and the techy-medical part of it all gave this story an edge that made it different. AndI is an amazing FMC and was so strong throughout all her hardships and trying times.
The only thing that threw me for a bit of a loop was the continuation of Book 1 into Book 2. I loved Book 1, “Legal Trouble” but I still had a hard time recalling all the details that mattered and pertained to this storyline… and that made it a bit difficult to full sink into right away. I would HIGHLY recommend reading the first one before this one. It’s definitely worth reading anyways!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was heart felt and emotionally involving. Andi and Preston met in the army, but when Preston's father shot at him and his Sister Emma, He was shot in the head and in a coma losing his memory. Dramatic and very intense this book really took hold from the very first page. I loved the relationships this author created not just with Andi and Preston, but also with his sister, brother in law and most of all his son. This book really was excellent and the first I've read from Staci Warren and definitely not the last. Just wonderful!!! This was an ARC through Hidden Gems and this is my honest review.
This was a fun twist on a military romance. Preston has no memories of his life together with his wife Andi and it’s easy to see how stressful that makes their relationship. What I think that I loved most about this book though, is that they get to start over and Preston gets to fall in love with Andi all over again, which seems like a miracle and was really precious to watch unfold. I really enjoyed the book.

Preston is shot and loses 10 years of memories. Andi is devastated because he doesn't remember their relationship, only their time in the military before they were together. Andi promised his doctor not to tell him anything for one month. How can she handle it without breaking her own heart.
This story took my breath away and I'm still trying to get it back. This is heartbreaking and beautiful all at the same time. I cannot recommend this book enough if you want all the feels in one book. ♥️♥️♥️.

This is the second book in this incredible series, and this is Andrea and Preston’s story. When Preston is shot he looses ten years of memories, and Andi is told not to tell him they are married, and Preston only remembers their time in the military. Andi is determined to help Preston regain his memories, even if it means keeping their marriage a secret. This is a well written emotional roller coaster, with romance, tragedy, and love, which leads to a sweet and heartbreakingly beautiful page turner. This is a sweet love story. When Preston loses his memories, Andrea and Preston get a chance to fall in love again. The heart knows the other, even when the mind does not. Wonderful story of facing their own life obstacles, and coming out the other side stronger than ever. I am looking forward to the next book. Narration was well done.

It was my 1st time reading anything by this author, and I was not disappointed the story line is about a man who After being assaulted by his father in protecting his sister had 10 years wiped out from him and And that time did know he had become a father Himself. Andi fought for her love, husband and son's father with passion and resilience and this author caught that beautifully in this story
This is book 2 in Warren's Texas Hearts. This is Andrea and Preston’s story and one that is well written and beautifully narrated. I loved this story - it was sweet and heartbreaking but also full of hope and love. I definitely recommend this read / listen!

“Okay wow, first this story isn’t for the faint heart it a whirlwind of emotions and you easily get lost in the raw emotions and all feelings. Tbh this type of trope always amaze me but also scare me because losing your memory is itself scary like part of you is lost and then there’s the people who are part of your present that can understand it easily. Navigate through all that trauma isn’t easy. A beautiful story that melted my heart!”
I loved this book. It was a great combination of new romance and rekindling an old flame. The emotions of the characters reached right from the page into me and I found myself trying to read this as quickly as I could to see if everything went the way it should. I am looking forward to reading more books from this author.

Excellent military romance book that is a must for anyone who enjoys reading about wounded war heroes. It has a different approach to normal military romances and I loved every minute of it. The narration is god-tier along with the story.

First time reading anything from this author and overall I really enjoyed it. It was different in a good way and made you want all of them to heal and get their HEA. I also enjoyed the 3rd person point of view, it added an extra dimension.

Great story! First the title grabbed me, then the first page grabbed me. There was never a time I was bored reading Andi and Preston's story. You could feel their love flowing from the pages. I have to admit, I usually like a sexy love scene or two, but this story flowed so well I didn't mind its absence. This is my first book by Staci Warren, but it won't be my last.
Such a sweet love story filled with inner term oil within all the characters for all the secrets they have to keep. Preston’s emotions are so raw and real it was easy to love him as a MC.
This is a military romance that will grab your ❤️ heart! Andi's life is turned upside down when her husband Preston gets shot by his father! He can't remember anything for the last 10 years! Because of the nano bots the doctors put in him to help regain his memory, they don't want him to be told about the missing years. They grow close again, and it's getting harder not to tell him the truth, especially when he doesn't know the child is his! Grab this quick read! You'll love it!
I loved the representation of the veteran experience in this book. Andi & Preston’s story did not flinch when portraying the emotional wounds combat situations leave on the soul.
The evolution of the relationship between the two main characters was engaging and the love felt realistic and unstated.
There was some switching between first person and omniscient 3rd narration that jarred- especially when it happened in the middle of a chapter or seemed incongruent to the flow of the story at the time.
I also felt the plot sometimes relied too heavily on events unrelated to the love story to move it forward. I would have preferred a deeper exploration of the turmoil felt beneath the surface.
Although there was open door intimacy, it lacked detailed descriptions of the physicality accompanying the emotional connection.
This was a solid book and very competently written. I’ll be reading the previous book in the series as well as the author’s upcoming works.
