Sabal Palms and the Southern Squall

Rate this book
Elaine Smith lived in the small coastal town of Sabal Palms long enough to know when to worry about a squall and when to simply close the windows and wait for it to pass. This one would be significant. It would be significant in terms of damage, but that was to be expected. What no one expected was the profound effect it would have on the lives of people from the Texas coast to New York City. Positive qualities of humanity are often displayed during times of natural disaster.
But a supernatural power had attached to this storm and subsequently worked within the hearts of the most needy, the most lonely, and the most sinister. The lives of four delightful women, a homeless teen, a rebellious son, a grieving lover who is at the bottom, a son who lost his faith, and a hired murderer, are all intertwined in the aftereffects of a Category 3 hurricane thanks to a few passages written by one determined woman.

This is a great beach read or a book to read when you wish you lived at the beach in a small coastal community.

“Sabal Palms and the Southern Squall” is the first book in the Sabal Palms Series by Terry Overton. Elaine Smith is a widow who lives in a beautiful seaside town. She has always had a gift for writing, but even her friends doubt that the Christian devotional content Elaine prefers will ever earn her any money or recognition. As Elaine and her friends hunker down for a category three hurricane, they have no idea just how much this storm is about to supernaturally impact their lives and the lives of people all across the United States. As unforeseen connections, spiritual healing, and miracles take place in the wake of the storm, so too does the peace and encouragement that one can only find in the midst of such devastation.

I found this book to be simply enchanting. If you’ve ever had any bizarre coincidences happen to you that can only be explained as pertaining to God, then you will enjoy this book as much as I did. Elaine and her friends are retirees that each have distinct personalities and challenges to overcome. I enjoyed the realistic banter between the women and the ways they came together to help each other alongside others in their community. It was a very positive picture of the goodness that can come from humanity when faced with the challenges of overcoming a bad storm.

I also really enjoyed the preparations for the hurricane and what it was described like to go through a category three storm. It was scary and interesting to experience the aftermath with the characters, especially since I’ve never been through a hurricane myself. As the storm system moves through different states, it was fun to meet new characters like Cara, a runaway teen, and Billy, a struggling musician, among others, and see how the storm impacted their lives as well. In the end, this book manages to bring a realistic spin to the supernatural in ways that I’ve certainly experienced, and that I’m sure other believers can say they’ve experienced as well. The story left me with a lot of inspiration and positive feelings.

I’d also like to say I just loved the ending. It was surprising and fun and changed my perspective on the entire book. Although the book is supposed to be Christian Fiction, the ending had me wondering just how much of it might actually be based on truth.

If you enjoy a good story that flows from one page to the next, has no offensive content, and will touch you deep in your soul, then “Sabal Palms and the Southern Squall” is a great book for you. The characters and the scenery will charm you and leave you wanting more. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem like this book with be Terry Overton’s last, which is a blessing in itself.

This was the first book I’ve read from this author. What a great story. I love how the story had multiple characters in multiple settings and how the author had them all interconnect until they were all connected at the end. The four ladies, the main characters were hilarious and I grew to love their individual personalities so much throughout the book. They kept me turning the pages. I loved how I saw God working throughout the book in all the characters – main and secondary. And I loved little Bella, maybe moreso because that was the name of the sweet puppy we adopted.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was under no obligation to review it. All opinions are mine.

The story is one where I enjoyed getting to know the four main women and how they each faced a hurricane together. I thought the author did a good job of describing the hurricane and the damage it leaves behind. I have been through several and each one is different. The most devastating one for my town of Houston, Texas was Hurricane Harvey. In its path was destruction, lost lives, and a community that worked together. It was so inspiring to see people reaching out and lending a hand. This story has a similar feel to it and I loved how the author brings people together in a time of crisis.

There was one statement that really stood out to me that was said by a character. They uttered the words, “I’m tired in my faith.” I stopped reading and really thought about those words. I do feel tired at times in my faith. Like the character, I wonder if I am doing enough to help others. Am I spending time with God or speeding through those moments in my daily life? What I realized was I was tired because my faith has been tested a lot in the last few months. What I needed was encouragement, His Word and to know that He has never left me.

In this story we find characters that are looking for answers and before they realize it, a slip of paper finds them with words that they needed. How nice would it be if we left little notes for people to find? They could have scriptures on them or little snippets of words that talk about never giving up. We all wonder sometimes if we have made a difference in someone’s life. We may never see the seeds that we planted but God will see the changed lives as we continue to share His word.

The book has a wonderful cast of characters that see changes in their life through faith. Who knew that a woman who desired to be a writer would someday find her words spread throughout the states. Those pieces of paper she thought were not good enough, was just what was needed at the right time for those who were looking for answers. I loved the book and how the author illustrated that God has a plan for each of us. As we look for answers when we are struggling, there may be a message through someone we know or perhaps on a slip of paper that found it’s way to us as God ordained it to be.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

This is a soothing read. The author’s style is simple and understated, but the novel works on many levels. The novel is originally structured in a way that there are four different levels of protagonists, whether human, natural, or spiritual.
First, there are the four protagonists: Elaine, an aspiring writer who craves to put her literary skills to good use, even though she insists on using a typewriter; sharp-tongued Mary who speaks before she thinks; cynical Bonnie. (Most of the subtle humour derives from the interaction between the impatience of the latter two characters and Elaine’s forbearance); finally, there is Adriana, the youngest. What they all have in common is that they are widows, and they all have problems of their own—grieving, loneliness, estranged children, etc.
Then, there are other secondary characters from different walks of life, who are introduced in stages. These too, have their own unique problems any reader can relate to.
Thirdly, there is the main protagonist: Hurricane Jada, and the floods, that bring all these characters together. Natural disasters can break or make mankind. Their trail of destruction is followed by reparation of the damage, not only infrastructural , but as this novel shows even personal and spiritual. The storm is symbolic, here, of the plight of all the characters, both seen and unseen.
On a personal level, this is a testament to the faith, hope, and charity practiced by the virtuous duo Elaine and Adriana between whom there is a poignant relationship, despite the anti-Catholic prejudices of Elaine’s two close friends. The author also introduces a mystery subplot concerning Adriana’s past, as she longs for closure.
But, the main protagonist in this novel is unseen. The novel is a paean to the workings of the Holy Spirit unleashed by the cravings, efforts, and supplications of both Elaine and Adriana.
This is a moving story as, everything comes together in a satisfying manner, and the author hints that elements of this story are actually autobiographical. This will probably become more evident in the sequel.

I really have to admit that at first I didn't like "Sabal Palms and the Southern Squall" by Terry Overton. I thought it was really hard to get into the story line and really was bored and thinking " Why do I have to read this book but let me tell you now that I finish the book I am glad that I read it. The message of the book is God will use anything to get his message to those who needs to hear, or in the instances in this book "read". I don't know if the author meant to show that even when we feel like what we do or "write as in the book" is any good God can use it if we do our best.

Yes, there was a few times I even wanted to quit reading because the book has death and murder in it and to be quit honestly I wanted to throw my hands up in the air and say "I quit reading" because all authors want to write about anymore is death and car wrecks, both of which I had enough of in "real Life" but again I say I am glad I didn't. A few pages later the book talks about Tamar, " a Biblical character that was the sermon topic on Sunday, of course the two had different things pointed out but I was thinking "Wow" I really like it when the books I read talk about what we heard church, ISN'T GOD GOOD!!!!!!

What does four delightful women, a homeless teen, a rebellious son, a grieving lover who is at the bottom, a son who lost his faith, and a hired murderer have in common? To find out the answer read "Sabal Palms and the Southern Squall" by Terry Overton. I am anxiously waiting for the next book in this series.

I received a contemporary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.

I have read several of Terry Overton's books and always enjoy them. I was very much looking forward to reading her newest book. Sabal Palms and the Southern Squall is Book 1 in her newest series, Sabal Palms.

Elaine Smith has lived through many Coastal Squalls throughout her life, living on the Coast. The upcoming Squall is tending to be different from any other that she has experienced. The thing no one was expecting was how profound the Squall will change the lives of so many due to the writings of Elaine Smith. What do four delightful women, a homeless teen, a rebellious son, a grieving lover who is at the bottom, a son who lost his faith, and a hired murderer all have in common? What are the profound changes that happen during and after the storm?

WOW, this book certainly isn't what I thought it would be about. I thought I was reading more of a Christian Women's Fiction book, but it turned out to be so much more. I really LOVE the 4 main characters in the book, the 4 women taking shelter from the storm together. The conversations during the storm really show a wonderful side of people. The message in this book is amazing. I feel the message is "God's Plan is larger than our Plans." The entire book is encouraging and a nice sway from the "Traditional Women's Fiction" books. FANTASTIC BOOK!

In Sabal Palms and the Southern Squall by Terry Overton the lives of four delightful women (Elaine, Bonnie Taylor, Mary Sage, and Adriana Mantle), a homeless teen, a rebellious son, a grieving lover who is at the bottom, a son who lost his faith, and a hired murderer, are all intertwined in the aftereffects of a Category 3 hurricane Jada thanks to a few passages written by one determined woman (Elaine).

As a retired woman, I could relate with Elaine and her friends. We might be old, BUT we aren't antiques. A favorite Elaine quote: I don't write for money. I hope to change people's lives. Help people to feel better about life, struggles and faith.

Yes, it was Divine intervention. Nothing else could explain it. God didn't need a hurricane to assure delivery to the people who needed the message. I read Sabal Palms and the Southern Squall in April - USA Coastal Around the World in 50 (minus 1) Reading Challenge. Terry Overton is a new author to this reader.

Sabal Palms and the Southern Squall is the first book I have read by Terry Overton. It will not be the last.

When 4 widowed friends decide to ride out a hurricane together, little do they know what impact it will have on their small community. The storm is worse than anticipated and the damage is widespread. But, with emotional support from each other and the efforts of a friend, these women are eventually able to return to their individual homes. Having each other to lean on makes their burdens easier to bear.

The reader is drawn into the life of each one. We learn about their families and their dreams.
These widows are senior citizens, but the bonds of true friendship have nothing to do with age.

This is a perfect choice for anyone who enjoys reading about mature adults and appreciates a beautifully written book of inspirational fiction.

A hurricane is coming and Elaine and Bonnie need to leave their beach front cottages and head inland to the safety of Mary’s house. They’re joined by Adriana, a woman whose husband died in mysterious circumstances decades ago. As the four women wait out the storm friendships deepen. But the storm doesn’t just impact these friendships. Elaine’s house is damaged in the storm and pages of her devotional writing, writing she has deemed as worthy only of the rubbish bin, are blown across Texas and beyond, reaching out to people who desperately need to hear her words of Jesus’ love and forgiveness. Sabal Palms is a wonderful story with relatable characters and a message of hope.

Elaine and her dear friends weather a cat 3 hurricane on Texas southern Gulf coast. Elaine’s beachside house is damaged and the trash can with her discarded devotional writing attempts is lost. Somehow, several of the pages end up with people who need the encouragement Elaine wrote, even though she had not felt the writing was any good. The friends’ recoveries from the storm and the lives of the people with the writings weave together a story of resilience and hope. A lot of humor is sprinkled in as well. It is good to have friendship like these Sabal Palms women.

I picked up this book at a little bookstore on South Padre Island, just looking for a beachy read and thought it would be interesting to read a local author. This book was such a pleasant, sweet read! I didn’t realize when I bought it that it was Christian fiction and that was just icing on the cake. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and loved the characters. It left me daydreaming of having a little beach cottage next door to Elaine for my retirement years!

When Hurricane Jada is headed to Sabal Palms Elaine , Bonnie are forced to leave their beach front houses. They stay at Mary's house along with Adriana. Elaine likes to write scriptures . She had a trash can of crumpled up scriptures. When the women went to access the damage of their houses, Elaine noticed her trash can and crumpled up scriptures gone. Her scriptures reached different people and changed their lives. God has a plan for each of us.

Amazing Story

This has to be one of the best books I've read this year. Just enough mystery to keep one engaged, fun and real characters, and above all real Truth about Christ. The writing is well done, with real world events. Just a real feel good story that shows God's hand over our lives and how He answers prayers.

This was a great story. Slight quirky at times but a true sense of God working behind the scenes. I’ve never lived through a hurricane, but have lived through earthquakes and can resonate with that sense of community as people come together after the event to help each other.

Imagine the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico on the Texas- Louisiana coast slowly walking the soft sands over a lovely strip of beach, lined by dunes. Elaine Smith’s house is just over the dunes in Sabal Palms,Texas. A big storm is coming she needs to go inland to her friends home. She's packing, her bible, typewriter & paper, she is a christian writer, every day writing even if she just tosses it in her garbage can. Across the way is her friend Bonnie, sshhh dear thing has no filter, if she thinks it-she speaks it. It can provide for fun times. She is a smart dresser, packing matching outfits very stylish, plus plenty of makeup kits & lotions.

Good friend Mary Sage lives, 5 miles inland on Oleander st, an older street with mature trees, sturdy brick & wood structure. 3,000 sq ft, 4 bedrooms, 5 bath,15 ft tall ceilings. In Flawless Southern tradition, on a foundation 8ft above street level. Details are all important for friends of over 20 yrs. All widowed. This is where they gather at Mary’s when waiting out storms-hurricanes. Mary is welcoming & gracious well supplied. Oh yes, Adriana Manale will be coming. Her husband died when ‘a fish ate him’, She says.  I think it will be fabulous.

On this particular day a big storm has been brewing. Most of us have been through a hurricane, tornado or bad storm. This story really details- the how to prepare before, what goes on during & after. I have lived on the East coast & in the South 30 yrs-I learned new fascinating things!

This story is wonderfully written. I am constantly in awe of this writer, she weaves a story with large as life characters that have clearly unique identities, you come to love them & understand them. Then a curve comes ~bam~ suddenly surprises the reader, out of the blue with a new characters. By golly, you think What?  The turns it takes are amazing. Surprises, refreshing, warm fun friends, community, spiritual journeys, Christian writer who struggles with herself, outreach, music.

THE Most intriguing fabulous fluid surprising spiritual journey... It takes your breath away. Stunning.

Prayer happens to spread to those all around you when you least expect it.

I don’t want to give anything away because it it such a delightful page-turning read.

I am excited for the next Sabal Palms and the next. These women are delightful. I am eager to spend more time with them.

Terry Overton is an accomplished Author you will want to read & enjoy.

It was fun, quirky, serious, and so much else. Sometimes it felt like going down a rabbit trail and not being sure where one would end up. This added so much to the story.
Four older widowed women come together as friends despite they're differences and become closer due to a hurricane. One women is a writer who just wants to up lift be people bit isn't totally sure how to do it. The hurricane & God's intervention shows how far reaching things can be, and that God does have a bit if a sense of humor sometimes.

When I read the back cover copy for Sebal Palms and the Southern Squall, I was immediately drawn to the unique concept. There was intrigue in the notion that a force (the Lord) would use a disastrous storm to change the lives of several people. I wanted to see how this would play out.

The main character (Elaine) desires more than anything to glorify the Lord with her written words, but nothing seems good enough to her. In the trash they go. Then along comes a category three hurricane and somehow the devotionals she’d discarded end up in the hands of those struggling with grief, loss, forgiveness, and deep sin. Each person receives the one he/she most desperately needs.

The main focus of the story is on four retired female friends who have a close bond. Then it weaves the lives of these other individuals into it. I truly love the concept. And as a writer myself, I can appreciate Elaine’s struggle to make a difference with what she writes. Elaine and Adriana have their own personalities, so it was easy to follow their part in the book. Bonnie and Mary were so similar, I had a hard time telling them apart.

There were some areas of struggle for me. First off, the scenes with the four friends often did not add to the story—in other words, the action and dialogue didn’t move it forward. It was a narrative about what they ate, the games they played, and personality differences. The dialogue was unrealistic and too on-the-nose. Another issue I had was understanding what point of view the author was employing. I would have to guess she was using omniscient, which separates the reader from the characters, making it difficult to connect with them. I say this because there is one scene where Elaine (main character) is on the phone, but the reader only hears her side of the conversation. If it was from her point of view, the reader would hear whatever Elaine heard. Most authors write this way to allow the reader to truly feel the depth of what the character feels. This wasn’t the case with this book.

And while the side characters fleshed out the story very well, there was no depth to them, either. It was as I was reading an article about an instance rather than living it through the eyes, ears, and heart of the characters.

Even so, if you enjoy a story that employs multiple characters and weaves God’s grace and mercy within its pages to help people overcome difficult odds, you’ll enjoy this book.

“I don’t write for the money, I write hoping to change people’s lives.”

Terry Overton presents a very unique, heartwarming story about four older, widowed women who take refuge together from a hurricane. We see four mismatched persons who are very different, yet work together to form a strong, safe friendship. But that friendship is subject to two dangerous cancers. One is gossip, and the other is not encouraging a friend in her chosen line of work, simply because the results are not obvious.

I enjoyed this in-depth look at a hurricane, something unfamiliar to me. I loved how people rallied around each other to rebuild and restore necessities after the damage of the hurricane.

Poor Elaine. She feels like her writing is making no difference, until she finally writes a small passage for Adrianna. Adrianna is much encouraged, but the other two friends feel Elaine is wasting her time and have no qualms about telling her so.

Then, something begins to change. One by one, we are introduced to several other individuals from various parts of the country, whose lives intersect with the four friends. After finishing the book, I am in awe of what God can accomplish through humble people who are determined to do what He has called them to.

I received a copy of the book through Celebrate Lit. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.
Notable Quotables:

“She wondered, as she did every night at the typewriter, if anything she wrote would make a difference for someone else.”

“Tamar wasn’t loved by God because she did good or bad things. She wasn’t loved by God because she had earned His love.” “I don’t understand what you are trying to say.” “Tamar was loved by God first, no matter what. He called her.”

At first I thought this novel would be your typical women's fiction, following the lives and friendly interactions of four very different women living on the Texas coast. While the calm, steady writing style continued, the methodical pace of the narrative changed when a hurricane appeared on the horizon.

I liked the friendships between the four women, their interactions, and their snappy conversations. But the message that intrigued me became clear in the after effects of the hurricane. We often wonder if what we are doing for the Lord is really benefiting others. Elaine spent hours writing heartfelt devotionals. “She longed to know that she was furthering God's work with her writing.” (2110/3750) It took a hurricane to reveal the truth.

Overton has given us a touching novel of seeing how God moves in mysterious ways to draw people to Himself, to restore relationships, and to craft friendships centered on caring for others. It is an encouraging story for those who are faithful to God's calling but do not get the recognition of those in the limelight. It also reminds us God works circumstances to His end, even if we are not aware of it. This is an encouraging novel for anyone who has ever wondered if they are making a difference in God's kingdom.

I received a complimentary digital edition of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Terry Overton was a new author to me with a different writing style. Getting to know these four widowed ladies, Elaine, Bonnie, Mary and Adriana was a treat. Each one was unique in their outlook on life, clothing styles and difficulties they had been through over the years. But still they were close friends that all lived in a small coastal town in Texas called Sabal Palms. When a category three hurricane hits their community they all come together to help and support each other. Elaine struggles to be a writer. She uses an old electric typewriter but wads up and trashes most of her attempts in her small “office”. When the storm takes off part of her roof, her trash can with all her wadded up paper disappears. In whose possessions they ultimately land seems like to me the work of angels. Elaine only wants what she writes to be meaningful and helpful to whomever reads it but she never quite thinks it’s good enough. Little does she realize the lives she will change. As the story continues so does the friendships between these four widows and their relationships grow closer. What a great ending to such a moving story! I’ll be looking for the next book, Sabal Palms after the Storm, although this one is not a cliffhanger.

The synopsis of this story intrigued me enough to step out of my comfort zone and to read a book I might not normally have picked up. This story focuses on four older women, all retired and all who have lost their husbands, getting ready to hunker down at the main house inland during what will become a category three hurricane. We get to know them and a bit about their lives as they certainly do like sharing their stories. They have lived through several storms and this one is like no other they have experienced.

I was curious how the other characters mentioned on the back of the book were going to fit into these women's lives. How was this storm, a supernatural one as the author calls it, going to affect all of their lives? Well that you will just have to find out for yourself.

I am quite glad I decided to take a chance on this story. I enjoyed 'meeting' these women, their friendship, and the wisdom of lives well and thoroughly lived. They were an interesting bunch and I liked how the story pulled one and all together.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

Sabal Palms and the Southern Squall is written by Terry Overton. This is book one in the Sabal Palms series. I have read a few other books by this author, and have always liked them. The author did a great job with her descriptions of a hurricane. I live in a hurricane prone area, and the last one we dealt with was Hurricane Michael in 2018. The author did a great job tying it all together.

We see a story of how lives are intertwined when it comes to supernatural disaster. Elaine, has lived in the small coastal town of Sabal Palms for a long time and takes the signs of an impending hurricane seriously. Elaine and a few of her friends have come together to take shelter from the storm. These women have weathered a lot throughout their lives. I really like the way we really got to know these women. You felt like when you read their intereaction and conversations that you were there.

The characters were well written. The storyline is intriguing. I really felt like I was there by the author's descriptions. Perfect read to kick off Hurricane Season!.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book, all thoughts are my own.

I love a good book that makes me forget my own problems. Sometimes though books make me think of my own problems and wonder if it’s just me not giving over to God. This is one of those books that asked me questions about my faith and what I believe about myself while also making me laugh and cry with the characters.

The author did a fantastic job with her characters and their personalities and problems. I felt for them. I wanted to hug them and offer them a casserole. They definitely had my attention from beginning to end and I was sad to see them go.

I highly recommend you give this book a read. You’re going to love the characters. They suffer problems and tragedies with hurricanes or squalls but they rise above and raise each other as well.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.

This story mingles quirky with serious as a quartet of older widows who live on the Gulf of Mexico enliven each other’s lives and survive a serious hurricane, amid the regular trials of life. A thread of suspense permeates the simple plot as these wonderful women help each other and those around them. I enjoyed their camaraderie and selflessness, but not so much their focus on food. They love to eat, and they consume way too many rich desserts, which would lead to poor health. I especially liked Elaine, the writer, who didn’t think her personal pieces were good enough to submit for publication. It was interesting to read about the way God orchestrated these spiritual works reaching those who needed them most. Sometimes, the ladies sounded almost like caricatures with their outdated expressions, which seemed too old-fashioned for modern speech. It did add some humor, though. This novel would make a fun summer read or a nice one for book clubs to discuss. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.

Sabal Palms and the Southern Squall is the first book from Terry Overton’s series, Sabal Palms. I thought it was a pretty good read. I enjoyed getting to know all of the characters and the setting was perfect. There is a lot going on throughout the book that was, at times, hard to keep up but loved how it all came together in the end. A wonderful book in faith and inspiration.

Sabal Palms and the Southern Squall will be getting four stars from me. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean fiction. I look forward to the next installment from the Sabal Palms series, Sabal Palms After the Storm, to see what happens next.

I received a paperback copy of Sabal Palms and the Southern Squall from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Terry Overton brings to life a different style of story that I'm not used to reading.
It seems like a cross between Steel Magnolias and Season of Miracles but with that Jimmy Buffett twist.

Four women wait out a category three hurricane, yet in the process, one woman's writings are whipped away in the storm and miraculously change the lives of five people. Including the sons of two of the women.

It was an enjoyable read. And Terry has a writing style that is easygoing and smooth. This is a definite read for those who want to break away from romances, chick lit, or women's fiction, and read a story of miracles and friendship.

I would consider this Hallmark or Kendrick Brothers worthy!

Four women and a hurricane are the crux of this story. I'm not sure how I decided to pick up this book as I'm not fond of hurricanes having gone through one. Even so, this group of ladies pull together and some amazing things unfold. There's a lot of witty and fun bantering and themes of healing and making it through when you are weary, even in your faith abound in this book. Love, life, and lots of loss, with healing and happiness are included. Elaine as a writer, might be my favorite of the four ladies, but they were all good.

This was a really well written book. I liked the characters and the way the author shaped the story. Shows how a huge storm can change lives and how God can use different things in life to His plan.

I really came to like the characters and their different stories. I like how the author connected them and brought it all together.

4/5
