Lauren Helms is a romance author her nerdy and flirty contemporary words. Lauren has forever been an avid reader from the beginning. After starting a book review website, that catapulted her fully into the book world, she knew that something was missing. While working for a video game strategy guide publisher, she decided to mix what she knew best--video games and romance. She decided to take the plunge and write her first novel, Level Me Up. Several published novels later, Lauren, with her book bestie, also formed PR company, Forever Write PR, to help other authors promote their books.

Lauren lives in Indianapolis, Indiana sharing her love of books and video games with her own Gamer Boy husband and three little kid nerds who will hopefully grow up to share the love of things that united Lauren and her husband on their own happily ever after.

Win My Heart by Lauren Helms was an absolute delight to read. As soon as I finished Cocky Gamer, I begged Lauren to write Bernie’s story, and let me tell you, Bernie’s story did not disappoint. Bernie and Wade’s story had all the ingredients for a perfect read and I couldn’t get enough.

Win My Heart was a terrific read from beginning to end. The moment I dove into Bernie’s story, I knew I was going to be hooked. Bernie and Wade’s story pulled me in instantly, their chemistry and banter left me salivating for more. I loved all of the will they/won’t they moments, the frustrating moments where I just wanted to shake Wade, and the swoon-worthy ones that left me with a big smile on my face. Yes, this story delivered in more ways than one.

Win My Heart hit all the marks this reader was hoping for. From an entertaining plot to meddling friends to a swoon-worthy romance filled with mystery and intrigue, this book had it all. Lauren Helms does not disappoint with this latest addition to her Gamer Boy series.

When I started reading this book, I did it with high hopes, as I am a fan of several streamers and I see a lot of Twitch content. And I must say I was not disappointed.

This book takes on one of the least explored worlds in the romantic nivel genre: gaming. Although I thought for the average person, it would be a bit difficult to understand what Twitch or Discord is, I thought it was very easy to understand in that aspect. What I loved the most about it is how respectful it was to the community. Our main character, Bernie (or Bernadette for Wade ) is a professional gamer who is part of a gaming team that compete across the country. She is fierce and loyal but at the same time a bit of an outsider, even in her own group of friends. She has always had a crush on Wade, one of her friends' brother. Wade, in return, has always had a thing for Bernie so it only took another person saying they were interested in Bernie for Wade to realise that maybe he wanted to explore a little bit more of Bernadette.

This is also a book in a series but you'll have no problem to check it out as a standalone (although it contains mild spoilers from the previous ones). It's a fun and light read if you feel like having a good time.

Gamer girl who has a major crush on her friends brother but nothing can happen because she’s off limits right???Bernie and Wade met years ago and while they both feel the pull, Wade is cautioned about the consequences of dating their friend/coworker/teammates. So the crush is a crush and out of sight, out of mind kinda scenario….

Wade and Bernie are back in each other’s orbit, a little older, settled in, and fighting their feelings for one another. Fighting those feelings get old and when they get together, you’re like, FINALLLLY!!!!! But there are complications of them being together, so they embark on a “secret relationship “.

This was a cute, sexy, fun with a little bit of suspense. You don’t have to read the other books prior to this one, it was easy to catch on without any “missing pieces”. What a fun and sweet group of friends too. I really liked these two together, Wade just is falling in love with his girl. I liked that she somewhat of a popular Gamer in the gaming world and dominating it!

I have to say that I never really got into gamer girls until Lauren Helms, as I LOVE them so much & wish they were my friends in real life. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with them, but I've never been very big on gaming to be honest (it's probably my age LOL). Anyway, Bernie has had a secret thing for her best friend's older brother, Wade, but while they do have a connection, he put her firmly in the friend zone & both went on with their life. These days, they're some years older when they end up being around each other again, and now the sparks are really flying, but still, he's a real pain in the behind about it all (I'm totally #TEAMBERNIEALLTHEWAY). However, the sparks are more intense, and that chemistry isn't going to be denied any long so they act on them but on the down low so what could possibly go wrong?! Like previous books that I've read by this talented lady, the moment I opened the book, I couldn't put it down until every last page was devoured since I was fully engaged from the jump. There's a lot of fun, sexy times, a great supporting case, and even a dash of suspense to keep me very entertained! You can't go wrong with any book by Lauren Helms, and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Win My Heart by Lauren Helms is a cute and fun, secret romance story in the Gamer Boy series. Even though I haven't read the first 3 books in the series, I followed along just fine. In fact, it gave me enough of a teaser that now I want to go back and catch up on the earlier books.

Bernie was awkward, quirky and a bit nerdy. I could totally relate to her character. Wade is the hunky brother to one of her gaming friends. These two had chemistry years before but Wade was told to back off. Now he's back in Bernie's life and the sparks are again flying.

Great story with some laugh out loud moments and some drama and angst mixed in. Highly recommend!

Bernie has a close group of friends that she games with…and they are good! She has a crush on one of her friends brothers, but it hasn’t gone anywhere. Wade needs a temporary place to stay and he moves in with his brother. He decides he is going to make a move on his Friend Bernie. These two have a great connection and fall pretty fast for each other. They juggle keeping it a secret for awhile. This was a cute read and I enjoyed this group of friends. The banter was cute and the story was entertaining. I would Definitely read another book by this author.

It’s always 5 stars for Lauren Helms! I love her writing and her characters are my favorite people. Bernadette is probably the most like me, so she’s my favorite character in this story. I’m not a gamer but something about hearing them playing for a “career” makes my giddy and want to read more. You definitely need to read the books in order since all the characters are in this one and it’s worth it!

I usually do not read books unless they are found in Good Reads so I can keep track of my reading
however the prequel for this was given through author's newsletter and even though it's not listed I went ahead and read it and OMG
So the prequel - Play with my Heart is the start of Bennie and Wade's story . It got me hyped up for their story. It was so good it had me immediately looking into the series. I was mad that book 1 was not their story though, I had to jump all the way to book 4. If it had been book 1, I probably would've read the whole series after their story. You don't have to read in order and we all know that the MC for each story will end up together but still

The way Wade shut her down I knew he would regret especially since she decided to go on that date with the guy on the train, Hugh? That apparently lasted 2 years tho
I mean - Fuck Wade. The way he ended it before it started was super messed up. I get the bro code and trying to do right - but he would prefer to be a playboy. Well okay - I get his side too - but still the way he told her was messed up lol


Their story picks up 5 years after the prequel
I was so invested in their story and I was really excited for their sex scene - I kept thinking it was going to be so damn good but the scene was glossed over!!! :( I loved their story but man I wish it had the detailed smut scene. That would've made it a 5 star for me.

It pissed me off how Wade left her and ignored her as well as his feeling for her. She obviously struggled with it for the full 5 years but he stayed mostly unaffected. It took someone else wanting to get with her for him to decide to say screw it- although not really. He did her dirty in the beginning. His brother basically admitted that they never thought about that pact after that. So they all got to move on and get their girlfriends while Wade just stuck up by that promise. Years wasted and feelings hurt for nothing.
I understand before he realized that, he had felt bad about breaking the promise to his brother, but he was still super hot and cold with her. Like he wanted her and was all over her then next time she saw him he was super cold to her - especially out with their friends. I wish this girl would've told him off and said eff you buddy. But hey - it worked out lol

Its split p.o.v. which is my fav. but around like 40% for a while it's just chapters from Bernie's p.o.v. and while nothing really major happens, it would've been nice to get Wade's p.o.v. so we could know where his head was at with everything. Especially during the sex scene lmao I just wanting his side to provide more info.

That stalker ish was crazay! I think I was more upset about the Twitch account and loss of 4 mil subscribers than anything. And I am not really about that stuff in real life lmao. That musta hurt bad. no way to recover that.

All in all I loved the stories. I wish the story picked up after the prequel instead of the 5 years and I was hoping for some smut, but even as it is, I still really enjoyed their story. They finally got their HEA :)

She and her fellow gamers Link, Dex, Simon, Matt all lived in the same building owned by Dex and they had made two apartments into one huge gaming headquarters where all their sponsored equipment was set up.

Tonight was Morgan's bachelorette party and Ruby had signed them up for a pole dancing class. Morgan was engaged to fellow gamer Dex and loved all of the team's girlfriends like family, but sometimes being the 7th wheel was kind of depressing.

After the pole dancing class, which she found she was more coordinated that she had expected, Ruby's next surprise was a sex toy store which had been a huge eye-opener. They were now finishing up the night at Bernie's, but when she went to turn on the music, she realized that her new speaker was in Link's room upstairs so Ruby threw her the key and she headed upstairs.

Distracted and ready to get her speaker and get back to the girls she didn't see anyone until she ran into a hard wet body. Shocked to find anyone in the guys' apartment since they were all out for Dex's bachelor party she looks in shock at the naked man before her....well, almost since there was only a towel hanging low on his hips.

Wade Roberts. Dex's older brother. The brother she has had a crush on for years.

I loved this book. It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. I haven't read books 1-3, but all of the characters are an active part of Bernie and Wade's story giving even more depth to the story.

Unknown to Bernie she has been put in the no-dating zone by her fellow teammates and Dex made sure that Wade knew that he was included. Which wasn't a problem until he moved back to town...and into their building.

This book is action-packed from page one. It is full of suspense, danger and off the charts sexual chemistry. Highly recommend this book and can't wait to backtrack to read Dex, Link and Simon's stories.

Bernie is adorable, a little awkward but also spunky and fun. She’s had a crush on Wade for years but never thought he would feel the same. With him moving into the same apartment building, though, things change. And bring with it complications.

Wade felt something for Bernie since their first meeting but his brother asked him not to ruin their team dynamic by pursuing her. Years later, and living just down the hall, he finds himself reevaluating that promise. He just has to figure out how to tell his brother …

The lying and hiding of their relationship isn’t something I usually go for (and there were a few times I wanted to smack Wade), but I think that Helms actually handles things pretty well. Their relationship felt organic and I could definitely understand how they found themselves in such a situation so I didn’t mind it so much. Overall she does a good job of balancing heat with humor, adding in a ton of sweetness and drama, and just a little bit of suspense to keep things hopping. I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for what else Helms brings readers.

Wade and Bernie (Bernadette), the lead characters, have a crush on each other for years but Wade friend zoned her because his brother was her gaming teammate and insisted that no one and nothing risk their gaming relationship. Now, years later, that crush is still there and Wade is willing to act on it - but maybe not tell his brother…Then there’s the issue of the guy telling Bernie that he’s looking forward to catching up with her…

This story is dual POV, and an interesting female gamer story. I picked it up because there aren’t that many professional female gamers and even fewer as lead characters in romance stories. I appreciated the secondary stalker plot, dealing with an issue that gamers deal with in real life. I found Wade’s hesitance to deal with his brother frustrating, especially with how much it hurt Bernie. The ending was cute but wasn’t quite what I wanted it to be. My ARC copy had a LOT of typos but I imagine the final version has been edited. The story had a lot of promise that wasn’t quite delivered on. It does genuinely stand alone - I haven’t read any others in the series but didn’t feel I was missing out.

Win My Heart is a friend older brother romance between gamer girl Bernie and her gaming teammate's brother Wade.

I have read the other books in this series and was looking forward to Bernie's book. She is the only girl on her team and I was curious how her relationship with Wade would develop. I liked Bernie. She's smart, loves all things gaming and pop culture, and she seems like a good friend.

This is a nice, easy read but there were a couple things that didn't work well for me. All of the characters felt really young. Based on some of their actions, mannerisms, and how they spoke it felt like they were teenagers instead of in their mid-twenties. Also, while the story was interesting, the pacing didn't always work for me. There was some telling vs showing and I wished we could have seen more of their time together after their first kiss to help build up the connection/chemistry.

Overall, though, I did like reading Bernie and Wade's story and a few of my thoughts are really personal preference. I have enjoyed a number of Lauren's other books and I am looking forward to seeing what she writes next!

Bernie has been crushing on Wade for years but she’d never act on it since she thinks he’s out of her league. Wade feels the same but he made a promise long ago to his brother that Bernie is off-limits for the good of the team. They’re friends but they both want more and have different reasons for holding back. But when they can’t fight the pull between them anymore and finally give in, they keep their relationship a secret.

At first the secrecy adds extra heat but as it drags on, Bernie starts questioning if they’re hiding for the wrong reasons but Wade still feels guilty about breaking his promise. This struggle puts them at odds but when they realize Bernie may be in danger, nothing else is really important. This is a light and sweet friends to lovers with laughs and a nice touch of suspense.

Bernadette is an awkward, a little nerdy, but also an adorable professional gamer girl. Wade is a workaholic nice guy with a panty melting’ smile.

Bernie always had a crush on her best friend’s older brother, Wade. She thought he friendzoned her, but is it correct? The answer is no. Wade wanted to make a move immediately after he met her, but his brother and the other gamer guys made it clear to him: Bernadette is off limits! This rule have been followed easily when they lived separately, but one day Wade moved in with Bernie’s friends, in the same building where she lives.
After this they always ended up together, a secret lunch, a wall-climbing, etc. We can see with each passing day they are falling for each other, but will the group accept they as a couple?

This is a cute and funny little novel from the Gamer Boy series, but you can read it as a stand alone and don’t have to read the others before, you can easly catch up with the story and get to know the characters. Lovely group of friends.
It’s such a cute, little summer read.

I enjoyed the story of Bernie, a fun and beautiful professional gamer girl and Wade, one of her best friend’s brothers. Clearly they’ve been pining after each other for a good long while but they never made a move, him for good reasons and her because of his reasons.
I liked Bernie right off the bat. She was fun and funny and seemed secure in who she was as a woman. Mostly. And that is perhaps what I liked most about her, she changed over the course of the story, maturing and becoming more confident in herself as a woman, a friend and a romantic partner.
Wade, well he seemed hot as hell so what’s not to like there? Add on top of that the non-profit work and yeah, he’s getting yummier by the page. BUT Wade let a silly pact dictate his life for years. YEARS! He’s a little too old for that but it was a nice and low-key way to introduce drama that didn’t take away from the story.
Together they were good but if I’m being honest many of the side characters made a bigger and more enjoyable impression on me as a reader. It was a good story definitely worth a read.

Having not been into the gamers streaming what started out as a slow read of a new Author soon had me very intrigued. Bernie one of the best female gamers was off limits to her colleagues an family of colleagues so it would not mess the team up if the relationship failed. Bernie however always had a crush on Wade Roberts, her team mates Brother. Wade tried his hardest to fight that attraction until he moved in her building. I really didn’t want to fall in love with a book boyfriend, while no one was available on a Friday night. I’ve never tried pole dancing either however it’s an option. When Wade discovers that a newer member team member has a crush on Bernie all bets are off. Fast paced, great storyline, suspenseful an page turner to the very end. Great read, i’m going to go read the prelude to Win my Heart just to find out more about Gamers.

Bernie's got a crush on her best friend's older brother Wade but is scared to do anything about it. When Wade moves in with his brother he decides the time is right to make a move. They manage to keep their relationship secret for a short while until their secret is out.
I received an arc for my honest review for NNBB. If you love a sweet romance between two gamers with some mystery and intrigue thrown in you will love this read. This is Book four in the Gamer BOy Series but it is able to be read as a stand-alone.

Having read the preceding books in this series I was excited to reach about Bernadette as she's someone I can definitely relate to. Although I really enjoyed this book, I'll admit I was bit sadden there wasn't as much depth into her gaming world and her experiences and in a way i wish there was a bit more drama. Either way, Win My Heart was exactly what I expected a cute, sweet romance and it expanded on the same world established in the preceding books in the "Gamer Boy" Series.

This is a well written story which has secrets, romance, drama, angst, suspense, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to an entertaining and fun page turner. I have enjoyed this whole series since the very beginning, and was so happy to finally read Bernie's book. It did not disappoint. Bernie and Wade have had mutual crushes for several years, but but never progressed beyond that for Reasons. Win My Heart tells their story and it is so much fun. The dialogue is fantastic, the romance is spicy, and I love the way the group interacts with each other. Having read the previous books makes this better, but being a stand alone story it's not required to follow the story.

This is the fourth book of the Gamer Boys series. The books are standalones, but should be read in order.
This book is about the only gamer girl in the group. I really like her, because I'm a gamer girl myself.
This friends to lovers romance is more a crush for five years but being off limits to lovers romance. It is full if suspense, scary moments, but much chemistry too - a really good mix.
I can't give five stars because I don't like at all the lack of communication on both sides. But I understand that that was important for the story.
I can absolutely recommend the whole series.

Game on!

I feel like I’ve read about this group before but I can’t remember.

Bernie and Wade’s story definitely had an HEA and suspenseful edge that made this a great read. However, I must warn that there were quite a few grammatical errors and miss spellings that hopefully only made it to the ARC’s and is the reason I gave 4 stars, I still recommend this book.

I received this book as an ARC for my honest review, and is book 4 in the Gamer Boy series.

She is a gamer who has a crush on her brother friend but it will never happen or will it. He was told never to think of their sister as someone to get involved with. He kept it until he saw just how she looks now. They may start a relationship but it must stay hidden. Will it stay hidden? What if they are found out? See if their relationship is found out and how it all will go.
