Mount Blanc Rescue #0.5

Mountain Countdown

Rate this book
The mountains are his life.

Whether it's climbing, off-piste skiing, or paragliding, Rémy's always been happiest in the mountains. That's why living in Mont Blanc suits him, and why he's never needed more. Until he meets Sierra, who comes from a different world. Their love of the mountains may bring them together, but too much keeps them apart.

She's ready to stand on her own two feet.

Sierra's had a privileged upbringing, but not one that prepared her for real life. Now, she's feeling stronger than she's ever felt before, and ready to make her own way forward. Then she meets Rémy, a one-night stand who becomes a lot more, and who makes her wish for a forever that might not be theirs to choose.

Action, adventure, romance … in the heart of the Alps.

Guaranteed HEA. 33,000 words.

Note to readers: This prequel novella in the Mont Blanc Rescue world is intended for adult readers and contains adult language and scenes. Although it's part of a series, it can also be read as a standalone romance.

So, a health nut and a chocoholic walk into a bar…

This novella is the prequel to the Mont Blank series by J.R. Pace. It is an introduction of sorts to the Peloton de Gendarmerie de Haute Montagne, the search and rescue service for the Mont Blanc (France?) area of mountains.

We get to see the PGHM team through the eyes and experiences of Remy, a mountain guide and expert climber. He is not a part of the PGHM, but is sometimes called to help. He meets Sierra for the first time at a bar. The story turns into a pretty fast-paced roller-coaster ride from there. The steamy scenes got as hot as chili peppers in this story. The detailed descriptions of the dangerous situations Remy and Sierra kept having to get out of were original and thrilling. I really liked their HEA.

There was one detail about the story that caught my attention. Remy was a health nut and always carried almonds as a snack when he was doing his thing on the mountains. Sierra liked to carry chocolate. So, Remy in an attempt to lure her from the Dark Side, started bringing chocolate covered almonds for her, which she loved. In my book, Remy is a certifiable sweetheart and this novella is definitely worth a read.

This was a fantastic story. I loved Sierra wanting to be a certified mountain guide and I loved when she found out that Remy was to be her instructor. She did so well her first day of the test so when the second day came and her getting injured saving their client was so scary. Rely made sure her saving the man’s life was recognized. When she won her certification was so rewarding. I loved how her and Remy had taken their relationship further. When they heard the disturbance in the house it was so scary for me for their safety. They went through a lot before Remy took out the one burglar even after he was shot. It was so scary when the other burglar caught Sierra and how even though in distress Remy was able to take out the second burglar and save Sierra. It was so great and provided the happily ever after when Remy asked Sierra to move in with him. I really loved this book and would recommend that everyone read it. I received a free copy but I am leaving this review of my own free will.

Remy Remy Remy, sigh. What you do for Sierra in every way - chocolate covered almonds, sizzling scenes, coming down the mountain, and oh so much more. Be still my large lard cover heart. Sierra you are more than woman enough for Remy, your integrity, your passion, your effort to do the right thing as you try to complete your certificate. Sigh. When Remy meets Sierra's mom.....or see's Sierra's house..... I shudder thinking this was going to be stereotypical, I should have known better. This is a prequel to an exhilarating steamy series of the Mont Blanc Rescue Team, Peloton de Gendarmerie de Haute Montagne. You get a nod to each of the players but this Remys story. He is not on the rescue team but a good friend of one of the members and assists where needed. I have never had an urge to climb a mountain, to challenge nature but Remy can make me dream. Thank you for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #Hiddengems #Jrpace #Mont Blanc

Remy is an experienced climber, happiest in the mountains and loves living in Mont Blanc. He thinks his life is complete and has never wanted more until he meets Sierra. Sierra is trying to break away from her privileged upbringing and make it on her own. When she meets Remy, she wants even more, but it seems like there's a lot in the way. Can they overcome the obstacles and make a life together?

I've really enjoyed this series and this novella is no exception. I absolutely loved Remy and Sierra's story. It was well-written and it drew me in from the beginning, keeping me hooked as I read it in one sitting. The combination of romance and suspense made this a beautiful and unforgettable story. Mont Blanc Rescue has become a favorite series and I'm very eager for the next book. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest reading in order for the most enjoyment and benefit.

Exciting:
This was a great book; it drew me in from the very beginning and I loved every moment of it. Even though it was on the shorter side, it nevertheless felt like a full novel in that there was a complete story arc, plenty of action plus emotional and steamy times too. Rémy and Sierra made a great couple and you could really feel their connection.
This novella is a prequel to the Mont Blanc Rescue series however it is not necessary to read it first. All of the book in this series have been amazing and I highly recommend them if you enjoy heart stopping romantic suspense.

I am voluntarily leaving a review after receiving an ARC from Hidden Gems.

Sierra was training to be a mountain guide. She was running away from her upbringing but found fulfillment in being a guide. She loved being outdoors and skiing. One night while at a bar, she met Remy. They have a one-night stand but Remy shows up as her instructor for the last certification she needs before she can be a guide. Remy fights his attraction while he was her instructor.

It was okay. A little slow with no real antagonist storyline so it made the book a little to insta-love for me. The story switches between Remy and Sierra's point of view. I think the best part of the book is when the two escape criminals break into Sierra’s house because it created a type of drama/action.

I loved reading where it all began with the Mont Blanc Rescue series as I have read a couple of the other books in the series. Rémy and Sierra begin as a one night stand when she decides to throw caution to the wind leading to an awkward situation when they meet again. This is an insta attraction that neither think they want but when the attraction wont stop they have to balance being professional and wanting more, throw in some heart stopping situations you are kept on the edge of your seat to see if not only will they end up together.

Fantastic story based on Remy who is an instructor that also helps with the Mt Blanc rescue teams. It has drama, action, suspense and romance. The story is realistic and keeps the reader turning pages. Sierra is going for her guide certification but first she meets Remy at a bar. This wasn’t as long as other books in this series but Ms Pace made it just as exciting. I received a complimentary copy of the book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms Pace.

I am a big fan of this series and have enjoyed reading the prequel, I thought the characters were developed and likeable and there was a nice mix of romance, family, friends, careers, dreams, danger and survival. Remy and Sierra had good chemistry and connection and I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop. The story flowed well and held my interest throughout. I enjoyed reading Remy and Sierra's story! Sierra can not seem to catch a break trying to finish her certificate. But Remy is there to help her and Sierra is determined. And when danger comes, they work together to save each other; they don't let anything hold them back after that. Not only is this story great for the couple, but it's a good introduction to the team we meet through the series.

*I am leaving an honest and voluntary review after receiving this book as an ARC.

This one is a prequel to the Mont Blanc Rescue series, which I love! Steamy sweet romance with some fun, exciting action and mountain adventure! In this one, Remy and Sierra meet and have an intimate night of passion. Things get interesting when Remy turns out to be Sierra’s instructor to get her mountain guide license. Things heat up in the bedroom and heart department, and of course, there’s danger on the horizon! A fun read!

Excellent Mont Blanc Rescue story. The characters and storyline are wonderful and exciting. This is mostly Sierra and Remy’s story. Remy has been climbing these mountains for years. Sierra is there to finish her certification to take groups up on the mountain as a guide. Disasters happen and they have to rely on themselves and others for rescues. I love these books and look forward to reading more books by Ms Pace.

Another great read by JR Pace. I totally love this Mont Blanc Rescue series. This one is a short novella between Remy and Sierra, but it also introduces the players of the rescue team. There is a little bit of everything in my opinion, action, suspense and steam! I received an ARC and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.

A great prequel to an excellent series. Sierra is trying to finish her training and has just a few more items to complete on the mountain including a guided ski with a customer. Remy is the man she met in a bar and then finds is the reviewing instructor. Lots of action in the mountains plus criminals, humour, friendship, love and romance. A fun short read.

This was a quick enjoyable read for me. I love the setting. The plot was good. I love the characters. Remy and Sierra were great together. Team work got them out of some sticky situations. I loved the sexual buildup. It was great being reunited with the rest of the team too.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.

I’m all for suspense but there were an awful lot of coincidental occurrences for what is a rather short story (to the point it felt a bit contrived). The setting was great (I’m a skier myself) but I didn’t really feel the feelings growing between Remy and Sierra; the conflict was all external rather than internal. 3.5 STARS.

Sweet story.

Interesting subject matter, in the profession of these mountain rescue people. So many abilities, to be certified in. The chemistry between Remi', and Sierra, is slow to build, but catches fire quickly. Danger is coming from nature, and more, but they both survive it. I loved the ending.

I usually read historical romances but wanted a change for a while so tried this contemporary novella and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the two main characters, particularly Remy, who was so kind and caring. The storyline had plenty of twists and turns to keep me interested and I look forward to reading more books in this series.

I thoroughly enjoyed Remy and Sierra's story. A health nut and a chocaholic are about as opposite as can be but they definitely worked as a couple. I am so glad that I discovered this series. I received a copy of this book via Hidden Gems which I am voluntarily reviewing
