It’s a children’s book lol/5 Yes I’m not consistent with my rating system wanna fight?? Anyway The metamorphosis by kafka? More like uncle lion becoming a cockroach amiright🤪 This was ok, the stories really developed quickly, a nice break from reality Might have had a problem with it that I don’t remember cause I read it like 2 weeks ago
**life update:** Kinda in a reading slump and that might be bc I currently have 9 books borrowed from the library and it’s daunting lolol. Started a nice ol middle grade to hopefully get me out of it
An uncle visits his relatives once a week, and tells their two kids a nonsensical story about his adventures in Romania. Basically a short story collection, with only five stories. Each following volume seems to deal with the uncle's adventures in other parts of the world. Enjoyment is very much reliant on the quality of the stories, and here there are enough twists to each story to make them more interesting than their initial premise.
Some stories sound familiar - one story almost in its entirety, and two more in certain parts, but it doesn't hurt the book too much. Stories vary between the uncle getting stuck in a cloud while visiting a land of giants, being cursed by a wizard and turned into a cockroach - a story with fairly weird implications, and the time he got stuck in a tree, held there by the four remaining hairs on his head.
It seems he was a circus performer and was fired from a cannon. Too much gun powder caused him to overshoot the mark, and his four hairs got tangled in a tree. To get down he refused to allow people to cut his hair, and simply waited however many months for his hair to grow enough for him to reach the ground. That story is the most Baron Munchausen-esque story in the book. At least the good parts of the Baron Munchausen book, before several other writers put in their contributions, and the book ended up being about a hunter boasting of his kills. Somewhat reminiscent of Jim at the Corner as well. Not as good as those two books, but decent enough. Art style is also decent.
Macera kitaplarını sever misiniz? Çok ilginç maceralar anlatan birini tanıyor musunuz? 🥰
Kesinlikle tavsiye ederim! 💙
A great Israeli children book that should get more exposure globally. We read the entire series a couple of years ago, but are going through it again now that my second child is capable of reading independently.
This is the one that got me hooked on the series. It's a mix of funny and creative stories. These tales felt more off-the-cuff than the ones that I read in the fourth book. But overall enjoyable.
My favorite part was Aryeh's disappearing act at the end of the book. It's a moment where the reader is brought into the fantastical realm of Aryeh's mind where anything is possible.
