Bilongo is a tale of romantic obsession that weaves its way from an American merchant ship plying Oriental waters onto a string of beaches in Central and South America in which the central character, Rawley Aimes, is torn between his love for his wife and his consuming desire for another woman. This book blends the themes of love, betrayal, redemption and the use and the abuse of occult power in a surrealistic form of writing which restricts the reader to an objective view like that of a hidden camera.

Bilongo is a tale of romantic obsession. The central character of the story is an American merchant seaman who loved his wife but during his time on the American merchant ship, he developed a desire for another woman. Rawley Aimes' responsibility on the ship was to plot the positions from the chartroom. In his free time, we find him in a sexual relationship with Lil.
At home, Rawley's wife had a beach across the avenue from their condo. Still, she didn't get out more when Rawley was shipping. Silvia wishes to have a life of Marina where her husband would be off to Japan. She thinks a husband away and a good money is what makes life good. However, it's Marina who knows the reality. She is no stranger to the loneliness she feels in bed every night when Rawley was shipping.
I loved this book wholeheartedly. Rawley is a character that totally has the reader's attention throughout the book. The story unwraps beautifully. One should definitely add this book to their reading list. I loved the way all the characters were crafted. The flow of the story is set well and readers won't find themselves getting confused in understanding the storyline.

Marina is a loving wife who coops herself up when her husband is away at the sea. She was reminded by others that she should get out more often. This time Rawley was at the ship for four months. He was in Japan and miles away from his wife.
Rawley was intimate with Lil, a woman on the ship. He was enjoying his life with her and didn't realize the consequences he might suffer later. Rawley got so crazy for Lil that he asked his wife for a divorce. Marina on the other hand doesn't want her marriage to be over. She wanted her husband to suggest anything so she could fix it. Rawley didn't listen to his wife and went after the woman Lil who didn't prove to be loyal. Will his wife forgive him?
This is a riveting tale and readers would love everything about this story. The backdrop setting is done nicely by the author. This is the first book that I have read by Brian and I am sure that it won't be the last one. The author has totally impressed me with his writing style. I strongly recommend this one to my friends.

This is the first time that I have read the book written by the author Brian Ray Brewer and I must say I loved it. The plot of the story is so unique that I couldn't put this book aside.
This book highlights the life of a merchant navy officer. His life on the sea is so unpredictable. When Rawley was away from home for months, he got distracted towards a woman named Lil. He enjoyed pleasurable moments with her and that made him forget about his life in Brazil. Rawley's wife Marina was waiting for her husband to return home.
When Rawley returned home, she updated him about all that happened with her. She told him about her crucifix that was stolen. Will Rawley face the deeds of his karma? He had done wrong with his wife. Will someone do wrong with him too?
This story made me realize that we do get the fruits of our karma. The author has used lucid language in this book and I was able to follow this story easily. The storyline is so interesting that I binge read this book during this holiday season.

Bilongo is a worth reading story full of domestic family drama that would keep you on the edge of your seat. The backdrop setting of the story is amazing and I enjoyed reading this book.
The center of the story is Rawley Aimes. His wife Marina is a church going woman. Also, she is a woman who is loyal to her husband. When her husband stays away on the ship, she doesn't socialize much. She doesn't even enjoy the beach life much in the absence of her husband.
On the other hand, her husband isn't a loyal man at all. He got involved with a woman on a ship and made physical relations with her. He even asked for divorce from his wife because of the other woman. When the other woman would betray Rawley, will he have the courage to go back to his wife and ask for forgiveness?
This is a fantastic story that I cherished reading. I have seen many couples around me who are involved in infidelity because they aren't happy with their current partners. It would be amazing to watch this story as a movie. The story has the perfect amount of drama thereby making it a must read book.

This book is written in five chapters that are long enough but won't feel long as the book is captivating. I loved the story from the beginning itself. The author knows very well how to keep the audience hooked to the story.
Rawley is a character on whom you would get angry because of what he has done with his wife Marina. He was responsible for all her tears. I could relate to the loneliness that Marina felt with her husband away on the ship. In the outside world, it's so easy to get distracted by other women and Rawley didn't have the loyalty that one should have.
You would find yourself feeling sorry for Marina. Marina questioned her husband when he returned home. He wasn't wearing his wedding band and was behaving strangely. When he opened his mouth, he asked for a divorce and Marina's world fell apart.
The plot of the story is unique. Trust me, this book is worth reading. I will definitely recommend it. At times, it did scare me thinking about what if this would happen with someone in reality. The characters feel real.

When Rawley returned home, Marina filled him in with whatever happened to her in his absence. She also told him about her crucifix that was snatched from her. All these stories were quite small as compared to the one she heard from Rawley. He wanted a divorce from his perfect marriage. Even though there was no fault of Marina, she was punished.

Bilongo is a thrilling addition to the books I have read this year. With its fast paced plot, intriguing world and diverse cast, it offers an escape into a world of infidelity and merchant navy life.
The author, who was a merchant seaman himself, is well aware of life at the sea and his experience is reflected well within the pages of this story. Marina, Rawley's wife is a character for whom you would feel bad. After reading what Rawley did, I am kinda scared to marry a merchant seaman 😁.
As I finished reading this book, I was left craving for more plot details. If you are looking for a story with infidelity, an extra-marital affair, a loving wife, adventures of sea life, etc then this is a book worth diving into. I have not read many stories written around the merchant navy life but after reading this one, I have developed a taste for it.

The story starts off simple but it becomes more complex as you read on. As an eager reader, I anticipated the forthcoming chapters but whatever happened in the story was a twist. I didn't think that Lil would leave Rawley making him regret his past actions and the injustice he had done with his wife.
Sometimes the plot felt a bit crowded and I had to pause to understand what was happening. The prayers that Marina said went above my head. What I appreciate about the author's writing is the attention to detail and this story felt like a movie. The backdrop setting of the ship and the way challenges were coming on the sea journey gave me the feel of the story set on the sea.
Overall if you enjoy stories of redemption then this book is the one for you.

Personally I am not a fan of stories of redemption. However, I thought I would give this book a read as it looked quite interesting and I honestly have to say it was a captivating read. This book consists of five chapters, and in my opinion, has an incredible storyline. As an avid reader, I found this story to be very detailed where it was easy to paint a picture in my mind of what was going on and each character that there was. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves seeing characters being betrayed. The only critique I would have is a wish that the plot would have been a bit longer as the story is interesting and thought-provoking. I look forward to seeing future books published by this author. 100% recommended!
