Six years ago, a single text changed my world irrevocably. The life I never thought possible, the one I hadn’t even dared to dream of, was gone in an instant—snatched away by the monster who would stop at nothing to own me.
The Barones always get what they want, though, no matter the cost—and the price of my two best friends, the men I loved, is one I’ll never pay … and he knows that.
He thinks he can break me, but he’s wrong. With every blow, I just come back stronger.
He thinks he can tame me, but the devil doesn’t play by anyone else’s rules.
When this devil reunites with her demons, there won’t be a soul alive that can stand against us. I’ve tasted darkness, and it only left my mind and body craving more.
Once I escape, there’ll be hell to pay … and the devil always collects.
(Thank you Peachy Keen and the author Rachel Callahan for the eARC in exchange for a spoiler free review)
3.5 stars!
Please check trigger warnings before reading.
Reverse harem reads have been gaining more popularity and this is a book you’d want to read! It is also my first from Rachel.
This book focuses on Giana who tries to leave the abusive relationship she is in. With her best friends by her side, she plots to retaliate back against the villain of her story.
It was exciting to read because I liked the attitude that Giana had to ruin whoever who hurts her, a FMC taking matters into her hands is always nice to see. As stated by Rachel, her character development was good. I also liked the harem, how there was each kind of MMC you’d see in RHs to balance out the harem. I also liked that it ended on a cliff hanger, especially if it is on an interesting note because it leaves the readers curious and I think this book achieved that.
Personally, I couldn’t stand the slow burn as with every other 1st book of RH, I wanted things to speed up a little more. I also could not appreciate the time jumps because it was way too frequent and it didn’t allow me as the reader to absorb either POV more. I do know that the purpose of the time jumps was to provide background and clarity which it did.
I went into this book blind and I think it was a good choice because that made me anticipate more!
This book came out of no where. It was an unexpected surprise. I found myself rooting for Gianna. I loved the mix between the past and present. It was written seamlessly. Then it all ended right when I was hanging on to every turn of the page!! I can't wait for the next book.
I’m blown away by how good this book was. It’s up there with my top reads of the year! An absolute pleasure to read.
Devil’s Escape is a bit of a second chance romance, as the FMC, Giana, returns to her hometown and the boys she has always loved but could never have. She may have been under the thumb of a bad man for six years, but she was not broken. This is her redemption cycle as she regains control over her own life and rediscovers the power she holds. The little devil inside.
The writing style is one of the key features that made this book so gripping. The story is told in what I like to call a “fractured” timeline, where the POV jumps from the present time to different periods in the past. This device allowed us to see the results of Giana’s actions before we saw the cause – We know that she left the boys six years ago before we find out why. It was brilliant! We find out the true reason why she left at the same time as the MMCs. We also get to see multiple character POVs, which helps to flesh out the story.
I love that Giana is not a damsel in distress but a self-rescuing princess. Once she reclaims her inner devil, she is self-reliant and determined. A bit of a villain and ready to make people pay for their slights. Absolute perfection.
The book ends with a cliffhanger. It is the kind that makes you crave the next book, and I will be a fiend along with you until that next book is released. Enjoy!
This is the first time I read from this author that i have to give it a four stars and not five. Usually five though🥺 I have my reasons…. But it was a great book. I enjoyed it so much and read till the end😍
So this is the first book from the author that is not paranormal or fantasy. It usually paranormal, shifters and gods like that but this one is not. So it was a huge surprise for me. Cause I thought it was going to be like that😂 This book the characters is normal human beings without any powers lol. The only same thing about this book from the authors is that is a REVERSE HAREM. DO NOT WORRY. THE RH FROM THIS AUTHOR IS ALWAYS SAFE AND NOOOO UNNECESSARY CHILDISH THINGS HAPPENING BETWEEN THE RH! 😍
Cause many times I read other books with RH, it was not safe and the slow-burn was so freakin slow it made me want to delete the book cause it was too long and too annoying with other people involved 🤣 But not from this author… Rachel always writes a safe one. So you’re good🤩🤩🤩
This book is very complicated but yet mysterious to read at first. It will for sure going to make you more curious than ever about what’s happening… The drama, the whole truth about what’s actually happening is so freakin thrilling but yet a great one. NO unnecessary childish drama going on…
In a small town, the heroine is best friends with two amazing guys. She said they grow up together and they always protected her at school. They always spend time together… The two heroes who is the heroine’s best friend for many years is in love with the heroine but they didn’t actually say it to her yet because she was too young at the time. They wanted to be perfect. The heroine is also in love with the heroes but don’t want it to say it first, she wanted them to say it first to her. Respectfully i think that’s a great thing lol. And one day when the heroine turns eighteenth years old, everything change….
‼️‼️‼️MANY FLASHBACKS ABOUT THE PAST AND FUTURE GOING ON HERE. (One of the reasons why I give this book a four stars because I don’t like reading scenes like that, it made me understand tho but its exhausting for my mind to try to keep up lol) but hey this is just me, if you like that then go for it. I do say the past and future in this book is not boring tho…
‼️‼️‼️TRIGGERS: kidnapping, drugs, alcohol, abusing, reverse harem, alcohol, high on violence, killing, bad parents (only bad with verbally abuse), stealing, mafia and jail.
‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING
‼️‼️‼️NO VIRGINS.
‼️‼️‼️DUAL POV
‼️‼️‼️THE HEROES IS OVER THE TOP POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE BADASS ALPHA MALE.
Not a manwhor3….
THE HEROES NAME IS MERRICK, KELLAN, SPADE. Spade is unique though cause he has violet eyes🤣🤩🤩
It also didn’t actually say much about the heroes personality considering this is the first book. And it’s more about the heroine anyway and not the heroes so I can’t pretty much write about the heroes personality.
‼️‼️‼️THE HEROES ARE SOOOOO FREAKING OBSESSED AND ADDICTED TO THE HEROINE.
They always say it nonstop and always praise her and always so gentle to her… Always say soft words to her and touching her…. SO HOT 🥵
Spade: “Because you’re like candy, delectable and addictive. Even from the first moment I saw you, I craved having you, tasting you to see if you’re as sweet as you look.”
Kellan: “It’s how you feel about yourself that makes you beautiful, this smile is the most breathtaking thing I’ve ever seen in my life,”
“Some say he’s a psycho.” “He might be a psycho, but he’s my psycho.” “Fuck,” Spade groaned, before his hand gently tugged my chin toward him and his lips devoured mine. His gratitude for my claiming words was evident with each stroke of his tongue as he delved between my lips. 🥺🥺🥺🥺
‼️‼️‼️NO DRAMA WITH OW. ONLY WITH OM….
It was a little too much but thankfully it was not too annoying….
‼️‼️‼️MANY JEALOUS SCENES FROM THE HEROES AND LITTLE FROM THE HEROINE. And also many jealous scenes from her fiancée 😂
‼️‼️‼️IT HAD SEPARATION FOR SIX YEARS.
But this separation is from when they weren’t actually exclusively date though. Not even s3x either. And while they were separated, two of the heroes said they were busy with motorcycles club stuff and drugs and alcohol. Not say about woman though… They didn’t actually say and also the heroine didn’t asked. BUT THE HEROINE… she was with another man at that time for six years for what the heroine thinks is a good reason. The reality is that the heroine was with this guy who is also her fiancé because this guy is a mafia boss and famous for his cruelty in the city, so he can leave the heroes alone and safe. So she stay with him and have a relationship with him because the guy is also obsessed with her, so the guy can leave them alone. The heroine sacrifice her love for the heroes to be with the guy… Idk but that just so annoying to me😒😒
The heroes stated they never stopped loving her even when she’s with someone else….
The heroes immediately got her back when they were strong and powerful enough to beat the heroine’s fiancé….
‼️‼️‼️NO EX FVCK BUDDY OR EX GIRLFRIEND FROM THE HEROES EVER SHOWS UP. ONLY FROM THE HEROINE AND IT WAS JUST ONE AND IT WAS HER FIANCÉE THAT SHE HATED.
‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE personality is she sassy but also nice good person. She is sassy when she needed to be and she knows how to handle the heroes…
‼️‼️‼️IT HAS PUSHING AWAY FROM THE HEROINE BUT NOT TOO MUCH AND NOT TOO ANNOYING…. THE HEROES NEVER PUSH THE HEROINE AWAY….
‼️‼️‼️VERY HOT SMUT SCENES LIKE OMG😍😍😍😍 MANY SMUTS AND MANY TOUCHINGS 😋😋😋
‼️‼️‼️VERY STRONG CHEMISTRY. You can feel it🔥
‼️‼️‼️This is the first book. It ends with a cliffhanger but not a huge crazy one lol. I can’t wait for the second book😍😍
‼️‼️‼️WHAT I DON’T LIKE ABOUT THE BOOK:
1. The book started with the heroine is being engaged with someone else and that someone else was so vicious to her.
2. Separation for six years is annoying lol.
3. It took a long time for the heroes to take the heroine back.
Just that though🙏🏼🙏🏼
👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽Thank you so much for reading my review❤️❤️ For you who loves my review and follow it, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I did not get paid or be told to do a review on a book. I’m here just to write review about a book so i can remember it. Its my honest opinion😚 I didn’t know at first people will find me and follow me and trust me to be honest, I was surprised myself to look at the notifications from people who reach out to me😆 So everything i write down here on a review is based on my personal opinion and based on my true writing. I DID NOT COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW OR WRITING SKILL because at first when i was using this app for one year i didn’t know how to scroll down on a book and see the reviews from others😂😅🤣 I know, silly me but hey I finally learned my lesson 😛😛😛 Thats why when people assume i copy someone’s review i was like what? Because at first i didn’t know how to use this app properly and i didn’t know how to open someone’s review because for a year i never follow someone or add friends or someone😂😂😂🤣 (I’m laughing so hard) 🤪 AND I NEVER COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW EVER. IF I WRITE SOMETHING WRONG OR DOESN’T MAKE SENSE PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND BE NICE OKAY. 👈🏽👈🏽👈🏽✋🏽✋🏽 IF YOU'RE BEING MEAN AND NEGATIVE ALREADY WITH A WARNING AND NOT BEING WISE TO ME, I WILL NOT ENTIRELY READ YOUR COMMENT AND REMOVE YOU EASILY AND FAST. I DO NOT TOLERATE NEGATIVE COMMENT SO KNOW YOUR PLACE, THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I’m writing my disclaimer again here cause many negative people still don't get it or still be stupid enough not to understand my POV when I already write it so many times before. So here I am writing it again to you beautifuls human being😁😁 WHEN YOU READ MY LONG OR SHORT REVIEW, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT WHAT I LIKE ABOUT A STORY AND CHARACTERS RIGHT... IF YOU DON'T KNOW THEN HERE IT IS: I LIKE A BOOK WITH VERY POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE, NO CHEATING, AND PLEASE NO MANWHOR3, NO MANY PUSHING AWAY, NO DOORMAT HEROINES, NO MANY OW DRAMA, NO S3X SCENE WITH SOMEONE ELSE. AND SAFE ALL THE WAY AND A HAPPY ENDING. Something that I don't like it very much if the hero or heroine have a crazy fvcked up personality and likes. Example: killing someone and let the heroine watch it all and push the heroine to lick all the blood of his victim and made her have to eat the meat of humans. and fvcks many woman in front of the heroine while telling her he loves her. I DON'T LIKE THAT TYPE OF SH*T AT ALL. That's just who I am, that's what I like and I don't like on a book. Maybe you love that, but I don't. We humans are different, we think very differently from one another. You have your likes and I have mine, you have your opinions and I have mine of my own. You think it's stupid of me to love such a book or to not love a book or to hate it whatever lol, I think it's bad you think that way cause I respect people's opinions cause I know for a fact we have our differences. YOU AND ME ARE DIFFERENT FOR PETE'S SAKE. I even have my own friends or people I follow here that shows how much they don't like the book I like, I never even give them a long comment or short Comment. Cause I respect their opinions. I don't like to give people I hard time here cause life itself is already hard enough. I do respect your opinion if you say my review is bad or whatever negative things about it, but in the end of the day I will not changed my mind about what book I dislike and how my thoughts about it. You can't tell me what to do. You can give me advice but it's me who decided to know what's right for me, this is my life and not yours. Read that again. Don’t assume things about me that is not even real, just don’t. cause when you do you’re more small minded for sure. You're thinking why I'm telling you all of this when you already know? Is because you still hating on my opinions and don't understand my POV and don't respect my POV. You think i like writing this disclaimer when obviously you're an adult already? no i personally think this is unnecessary... but because there are people out there who still don't get it *rolling my eyes*. Hopefully they or the people who read this disclaimer can use a beautiful thing called a brain:) AND WHEN YOU READ MY REVIEW, READ IT VERY CLEARLY TO SEE IF I FINISHED THE BOOK OR NOT. KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. AND YES ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE. BUT IF YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M WRITING, THEN IT MEANS YOU UNDERSTAND IT ENOUGH. I DO NOT TOLERATE BULLYING, NEGATIVE COMMENTS AND MEAN WORDS. PLEASE USE A WISE WORDS SO WE DON'T ATTACK EACH OTHER. SIMPLY, I DON’T LIKE TO HAVE AN ARGUMENT WITH STRANGERS LIKE YOU CAUSE I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO😚 BUT IF YOU STILL WANT TO BE AMBER HEARD KARENS THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND MY DISCLAIMER AFTER I JUST WRITE IT DOWN, THEN GO ENJOY YOUR DAY AND GO AWAY. IT'S VERY EASY FOR A HUMAN COULD DO YA KNOW. IF YOU STILL HERE HATING ME OR ANNOYED WITH ME, THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM. NOT ME PROBLEM. HASHTAGS BURN😂😂 DON'T TAKE THINGS TOO PERSONALLY ON ONLINE CAUSE WE ALL A STRANGERS, WE NEVER EVER MEET. WE'RE ADULTS HERE SO LETS BE WISER. LAST, I BLOCK NEGATIVE PEOPLE! SO GET WELL SOON TO THE HATERS. HOPEFULLY YOUR HEART AND MIND WILL BE MORE POSITIVE 🙏🙏🙏 AND THIS DISCLAIMER MAY SEEMS LIKE TOO HARSH ON YOU BUT HEY I DON'T LIKE TO SUGAR COATED THINGS. I LIKE TO SAY TO THE POINT WITH MY UNDERSTANDING AND MY OWN THOUGHTS, CAUSE THAT'S HOW HUMANS ARE. WE ARE DIFFERENT REMEMBER👍 HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!
Giana ends up back in her hometown after a failed attempt to escape from her abusive fiancé. The past comes back in the form of the two boys she had to leave behind 6 years ago, Merrick and Kellan, adding complications to her next plan to escape, along with Spade who saves her from a creep outside a bar.
Giana is a badass who forgot who she is, but my god does she figure it out. This really is her villain era. The guys are all some level of sexy psycho but Spade really takes that title. Kellan is the artist who is so sweet but very protective, and Merrick is the stubborn, broody one who has a lot of hidden feelings. It has multiple POVs but its mainly Giana, and there are flashbacks to before she left as well. The answers to why she left and what happened to the guys in that time do gat answered too. I 100% recommend this to anyone who likes why choose dark romance.
It is similar to Tate James’ books (especially Madison Kate), Grimm Brothers’ Tattoo, Deadly Seven series and the WITSEC series. Also kind of like Hannaford prep but not in high school.
TW: Domestic Violence, Abusive Partner, Abusive Parents (flashbacks), Violence, Murder Thank you so much to Peachy Keen and the author for an E-ARC of this book
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for this book and this was the first time reading a book by this author. I will definitely be finishing this series AND be reading more of her books! This is the first time that I've read an RH where I loved all the dudes. I usually only love 1 or 2 of them and add them to my book boyfriend list, but this time it was all 3 of them! Check the TWs though my dudes, the FMC is in the abusive relationship for half of the book AND he doesn't want to let her go. There might not be tons of spicy scenes because of the relationship she's trying to escape from, but what you DO get is hot. This book goes back and forth between the past and the present and that just keeps you flipping through the pages and on the edge of your seat wondering when she's going to escape and when she gets busy with her men. I can't wait to see her and her men bring the Barones' world down in flames.
This book had way too much inner monologue and not enough action. It didn't make sense if Giana was so much of a bada$$ why did she not fight back at all? Seriously?
She finally puts up one at the end of the book. I understand she was protecting people as she says. But again, makes no sense because now she puts up a fight and they are in danger again? Why wait 6 years?
Won't be reading the next book as I'm sure it will be a lot of the same. I'm also not big on books that jump from now to past, back and forth.
This was good! I haven’t read anything by this author but I was intrigued. The story was interesting how it went from the present to the past, so you could get some clarity on things! My favorite guy was kellan, I love a sweet guy with a dark side. Absolute fave. I love heroines become bad ass fighters as well, Rachel did a wonderful job displaying that!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Devil's Escape is an amazing story about Giana. An 18 year old that gave up her life with her two best friends, Merrick and Kellan, to protect them from Tommaso. Tommaso Barone is from a wealthy family that pretty much owns the small town they live in. He forces her into an unwanted relationship by threatening harm upon her friends, their families and her own. Six years later, Giana has had enough after one night he raises his hand to her and so she starts to plan her escape.
After reading only the blurb, for some reason I was expecting the abuser to be one of the love interests, some sort of stockholm syndrome story. I'm glad I was wrong. This is a friends to enemies to lovers story. The guys are very much a 'touch her and I'll unalive you' type. People may be wary or afraid of them, but not the FMC. They're actually over the top sweet with her.
I truly enjoyed reading this. It's my first book from Rachel Callahan and I'm so glad I got the opportunity to read it. (Also excited to read from a fellow Canadian!) Her writing was stellar. The characters felt well fleshed out, each character feeling different from the others. You get to follow the relationships with Kellan and Merrick via flashback chapters from when they were 18 and the tension is high! There is also a multi POV setup on the chapters, with majority of them being from Giana's POV, but knowing what the guys feel or think is such a nice addition to any book.
One thing I truly thought was a great change that I haven't seen before was
The cliffhanger wasn't at all what I was expecting. Even while reading it, I thought it was going to end differently than it did. I'm truly shocked, but it doesn't detract from wanting to... no, needing to read the next book.
Very intense book! This is RH at it's best following Gianna's life over 6 years, flitting back from past to present in a very easy manner, building on her story to get an understanding of how she's in the position she is. It highlights obsessive behaviour, what lengths some will go through to control the person of their obsession and how the abused one's self esteem and confidence is slowly eroded. When the abuser is a member of a crime family with a long reach, it's easy to imagine why Giana allowed this to happen, all those she loves are at risk. When she can take no more, the events turn unexpected and boy are there explosive moments and events! I loved seeing how Giana climbs out of the rut she's in, how she regains her inner strength and how she fights to escape the shackles forced upon her. The shock encounter with her previous loves leads to some really steamy scenes, and the addition of Spade was just yummy. Both Kellen and Merrick are yummy too, I loved how they pulled out all the stops to help Giana, how they set a plan in motion to rescue her. But she finds the strength within herself and together with the guys, sets off a chain reaction of events. No matter how desperate, how hopeless a situation is, there IS a way out, one only needs to find it. A real story about what happens to real people in the real world and how one can overcome even the most dire of situations. Well done to the author for the sensitive manner she approached this subject and adding in the spice along the way, to make one feel absolutely everything!
First thing I will say is please make sure to read the trigger warnings before reading this book! This is the first book that i’ve read by this author and ill be honest - starting a book by an author i’ve never read makes me nervous but it was 100% worth it! I could not put this book down from the moment I started it to the moment I finished it, while leaving me craving more. It definitely gave you a whirl of emotions and there were moments you held your breath before releasing that breath. It does start off a bit slow but there is so much detail into whats written that you feel like your actually there in the story. I cannot wait for the second book (which I’m impatiently awaiting since this book ends on a cliffhanger). While I hate cliffhangers this one is acceptable.
Spade, Merrick and Kellan are total vibes and they each have their own personalities that make you fall in love with all three of them. There’s definitely a touch of psycho to each of them however Spade is definitely top dog in that aspect, Merrick does give off some dominant vibes while Kellan is a sweetheart. They all three make you fall in love with them while Tommaso makes you just want to murder him yourself.
While you feel for Giana and pray that she does get her escape, she is in no means a damsel in distress - she is a bad ass queen who forgets just who she is. Her story grasps you and holds you captive.
Rachel Callahan is 100% an amazingly talented writer and her books deserve to be read. Thank you for creating your stories and I cannot wait to read more!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I hadn't read anything from this author before this book but let me tell you this book was fire. i didn't really know what i was getting myself into but i was pleasantly suprised. you get bits and pieces in the beginning of the story so that you get more and more curious as to what happenend in the past, it keeps you wanting for more. it was amazingly written, with flashbacks in between so you get to know her story better of who she is and why she is the way she is and how she reacts now. do check your trigger warnings because it does get dark sometimes.
i have a preference for why choose romance, something about different personalities of men falling in love with the same woman and having to share her, just hits different i feel and this book didn't disappoint in that regard. you have different men with different personalities who will do anything for her. i loved all three of them because all three of them do have that possessive side, that who did this to you and touch her and you die vibes and that is just so good to read about, makes me feel a certain type of way.
it does end on a cliffhanger and i am very excited to see where their story ends. i will definitely buy the physical copy and the other ones. because this is one of my favorites i have read so far this year.
i am really thankful for Peachy Keen and the author that i received this E-Arc because it got my out of a reading slump.
Giana is a strong woman facing a difficult set of circumstances. She desperately wants to escape from an abu$ive relationship but also seeks to protects those she cares about. How do you flee the clutches of an obsessive man who vows you will only ever belong to him? She tries safeguarding her heart against the possibility of new love to spare others the v!olence she has been subjected to.
The heart wants what it wants, though. Giana craves three men who are also obsessed with her but in the best ways. Two old friends and one new, seek to claim her, love her, and protect her. These men are just as fierce in their attentions and attraction. They’ll make you wish they were real and attainable.
The story and characters in this romance grab you from the very start. There is tension, steam, angst, action, and a great plot.
Giana is stuck in an abusive marriage with Tommaso Barone, one she was forced into to protect her childhood friends, Kellan and Merrick. It’s been 6 years since she had to say goodbye to everything she held dear, but now she’s ready to break free. The problem is, Tommaso is watching her every move and doesn’t hesitate to threaten violence at any sign of resistance from Giana. What can she do next?
This was a fun jump into a why-choose romance, and I loved when the third leg (arm? Dick? Member?) of the harem was introduced, Spade. He made everything infinitely better with his chaotic goodness, and he’s livened up every scene he was in. 🔥🥵
Overall, this felt like a slow-burn start to what should be an exciting and steamy reverse harem. I can’t wait to see Giana unleash her fury and vengeance on Tommaso!
Thank you, Peachy Keen and Rachel Callahan for the chance to receive and review this story! I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was interesting. Ginna is in a horrible marriage when she tries to escape she caught and taken back to her hometown. This book is written in the past and present. The twist that come with Merrick, Kellen and Spade. this book does end on a cliffhanger can’t wait to see where this story goes.
This book was AMAZING!! From the very beginning, I was hooked and so invested in the story. My eyes were flying down the page because I was dying to know what would happen next! I NEED MORE!
Please be aware of trigger warning before reading this book. I went into this blind. Didn’t even read a blurb. When the story first started out, I was sure it was going to be about a woman escaping an abusive relationship and starting a new life in a new town. I was so wrong. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster, but in a good way, almost as though I felt whatever Giana felt in the moment. The storyline flashed from present day to 6 yrs prior pretty frequently, but I enjoyed reading how past events tied into what she was going through present day. Without giving too much away, Tommaso can f%!k off and die. The other three are meant for her. Spade gives me Diesel vibes (from Den of Vipers), which is so fun to read. Merrick gives me quick to action, dom vibes and Kellan is the sweet, intuitive one. The three of them have been up to a lot since Giana left, but the reasons for their actions ultimately revolved around her (Spade was mostly along for the ride, but became invested immediately after meeting Giana). There’s a super hot mall scene involving TVs. Props to the author for that creative scene. I really enjoyed reading about Giana. How she never let the fire in her die out, how she gained confidence and determination back with her 3 guys, and how she handled herself at the end of this book. I can’t wait to see what kind of destruction they unleash in the next book. The Barones have the Devil after them now.
Giana has had a hard life. Her parents were abusive both physically and mentally. All she had going for her where her 2 best friends. Merrick and Kellan, the boys she grew up with and had fallen in love with. She wouldn't dare show it, afraid it would ruin the friendship dynamic between the 3 of them. But on her 18th birthday the boys took her out to celebrate, where they confessed they all had feelings for each other. Unfortunately when she came back home, tomasso Barone was outside waiting for her, she had made a deal with him to save her friends and he was finally coming to collect. What she thought was to be one date turned into 6 years of torture and abuse that she strived to get herself out of. This was a Rollercoaster of emotions, told in past and present pov, with one chapter each in the both the boys povs. This is not for the faint of heart and does leave off on a cliffhanger
After the lives of her two best friends are threatened, Giana is forced to make an impossible decision. Six years later she’s back in her hometown facing the past she was forced to leave behind. With her plan of escape so close at hand, the past is a complication she can’t afford.
The book goes back and forth between the past and the present, with multiple POVs. Absolutely love the vibes it gives the story. Once she finds her inner bada$$, Giana really shines. Kellan, Merrick, and Spade fit Giana perfectly. I love a good psycho and Spade takes the cake. The chemistry and tension between Giana and the guys is down right hot.
The Devil’s Escape is quite an interesting read. Definitely a slow burn romance that will hook you and have you reeling for more.
Devil's Escape is the first book in the The Devil's Demons series. I have to say that this is my first time ever reading Rachel's books and Holy crap did she blow me away. I went in blind, without reading the blurb or warnings, and did judge by the cover.
Devil's Escape is a fast paced, slow burn, contemporary why choose romance, that'll have you hooked from the very beginning. While this is mostly in Giana's POV, you get a glimpse of Merrick and Kellen's POV. Giana, poor poor Giana. She has been through hell. PLEASE MIND YOUR TRIGGERS, there are many!! Definitely anticipating the next one.
Rachel Callahan has done it again! She's created another story that sucks you right in and leaves you desperate for more. I managed to devour this book in less than a day and just wow.
Giana is trapped in a loveless abusive relationship in order to protect those she loves. She's finally reached her breaking point and wants to run. Things don't go as planned and she's now forced to return to where it all began. She must face the 2 people she loved and left.
I can't express how captivating this read was. Giana is such a great lead. She made mistakes trying to keep her loved ones safe but refuses to give up. She has her moments where it seems she'll be a damsel in distress and then turns it around.
The guys Kellan, Merrick, and Spade were amazing. There's history and for 2 of them this is their second chance. 1 is a psycho who became captivated by Giana. The chemistry and tension between them is so 🥵.
Clear your schedules and be prepared to dive into this amazing story. I'm going to be rereading this book while anxiously waiting for the next one.
I love me some dark romance with a why choose twist but this was really good the best I’ve read in a while. This isn’t just present time either there is lots of flashbacks to give background and show the severity of what is happening. Gianna is forced into a relationship to protect those she loves. The Barones are known for getting what they want no matter the cost. In a failed attempt to escape Gianna ends up back home and face to face with those she loves and they have to learn and accept what happened all those years ago.
This book was amazing! I love Spade. He was a lot of fun to read. Giana is a force to be reckoned with. I loved seeing her development throughout the book. She was not a damsel in distress at all which I adore in a female character. The mix between past and present was a little jarring at times; however, it completely fit the story and helped the execution. Can’t wait for the next one!
Now anybody who knows me will know how much I am an advocate for Rachel's books and constantly recommend them. Devil's Escape has blown me away. I absolutely devoured this story from cover to cover, it was incredible! I adore the development of our FMC Giana's character which is also helped by chapters from the past being interspersed to give us a fuller picture of the journey she has faced. I also 100% claim Spade. Merrick and Kellan are wonderful too, but Spade is just.....French Kiss perfection. Now I am desperate for the next installment to find out what goes down with our Little Devil, her men and the Barones.
I received this book as an ARC. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author.
I loved all of the characters! I was rooting for Gianna, Merrick and Kellan from the start. The book took me through all of the emotions. Frustration, anger, happiness, sadness.
I was really excited to see Gianna let out her inner psycho or devil as her nickname so accurately describes her.
It took until about 70% in before there was really any spice. Usually I’m a spice up front kind of girl… but I enjoyed the story so much I didn’t really mind.
Wow can i just say how amazing she is with her strength. As a dv survivor i was rooting for her and the fact she gets in rh with two old friends and a new fun male was so good. Bring on the second book 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This one caught me by surprise, As i read the blurb i was like okay But it was so much more and not what i thought it was.
As the story goes on we learn more and more
I can safely say this is one of those books that you will want to re-read atleast 3 times and then stil you will find hidden meanings and gems within its pages.
This book sucked me in from the very first chapter. Giana has definitely not had it easy the past six years and it’s about to get worse. But she makes a bold decision to do whatever she can to get free from the prison she’s been in which means confronting her past. Kellen and Merrick are so much more than what she left behind. Add in Spade and it’s a whole lot of steamy heat! I love that she starts to find herself again. I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes because I know it’s going to be an all out war with Tommaso and the rest of the Barons.
What a great book!!! I loved Devil Escape, a great RH about best friends and a bad ass FMC. Gianna is a strong woman who loves her demons. This book had a great storyline good spice and such a tease!!! Merrick and Kellan are yummy!!! If you like RH a good storyline, soul mates, good banter and steam this is the book for you 🙂
I received an ARC copy of Devil's Escape in return for an honest review - and it was honestly fantastic! This is the first book in The Devil's Demons series, so there was a lot of background, world building and a slow burn. I loved seeing Gianna break free from suppression and turn herself into a powerful woman. And her men....the fighter the artist, and the psycho....and she doesn't have to choose 🙌 I can not wait for book 2!!!!!
