Falling for His Best Friend

Rate this book
Avery Yeung’s biological clock just went off early. Thanks to her family’s medical history, she’s running out of time to get knocked up. And the only guy within donating distance? Her overprotective—and irritatingly hot—best friend. So clearly she needs an anonymous donor…

Anonymous donor? Over Sheriff Drew Flannery’s dead body. While daddyhood will never be in the cards for a man with his past, Drew won’t let Avery shop for a “popsicle pop.” He’ll do what’s right for his best friend by doing his best friend. But only if they do it properly.

But there’s nothing “proper” about it. Between the bed, the kitchen counter, and against his squad car, Avery and Drew are having the hottest sex ever. They can’t get enough of it—or each other. And without knowing it, they’ve crossed the one line that could ruin their friendship forever…

Holy shit. Whatever he'd expected when he'd agreed to this thing, it wasn't THIS. He'd just had sexy with Avery. His best friend and partner in crime, the one person in this world who knew all his secrets.
And worst of all, he wanted to do it again.

Ever since Drew and Avery were first introduced in In Bed with Mr. Wrong I just knew they'd be one of my favorites in the series. And you know what? I wasn't even a little bit wrong. I love a good friends to lovers romance, and this one delivered it in spades.
Avery, shut up and listen to me. If we're going to do this- and we are- we're going to do this RIGHT."
And then he kissed her.

Avery and Drew have been best friends for twenty years. There's nothing that they haven't experienced together, especially being the fun loving troublemakers that they are. But there's one thing that always stayed hands off, especially for Drew, and that's anything even remotely romantic or sexual. Drew attempted to kiss her once and was turned down flat. He doesn't want to ruin their friendship, so even though his attraction for Avery hasn't lessened any through the years, he won't act on it. Until he has no choice but not to...

Avery has always known Drew for the player that he is. His hit it then quit it ways date back all the way to high school. He's also been the one solid presence in her life that has been there for her through everything. Especially that terrible day that she got the test results back saying that she has the same genetic markers for cancer that killed her mother. Now her biological clock is ticking and it has a very quick expiration date with her health risk looming over her. Avery is desperate to have the one thing she longs for; a child of her own. After watching her sister that had the same genetic markers go through an emergency hysterectomy, she knows she doesn't have time to waste. And with no potential men in the plan for her, since Drew seems to scare all of them off with the guise that they're not good enough, she gets desperate. And what's a girl to do? Go to a sperm bank, of course.

When the idea of Avery getting pregnant by any man that's not him hits Drew over the head like a two-by-four, he knows what HE has to do. Why go to the sperm bank when he can get the job done right...the old fashioned way.

Avery may not be too keen on the idea at first, but it's not long before all that pent up sexual chemistry from the years crackles and sizzles out of control. Let's just say there's a certain scene that involves Drew's sheriff's uniform, handcuffs, and the side of a road. Holy melting panties!

Avery may know what she wants, but Drew struggles with it. The last thing he wants is to give his heart to a woman only to waste away like his drunk of a father when he looses her. Watching him fall harder and harder for Avery was all the more satisfying to watch because of this. Sure he screws up, but he more than makes up for it.
The irony was that while he'd been trying to ruin her for any other man, she'd gone and done the same for him and any future woman he might meet.

I really loved this latest installment in the series. It's everything that I love in contemporary romance. It was light, sweet, with the perfect amount of sexy and fantastic characters. If you loved the previous books in this series, you're definitely going to love this one. And if you haven't yet read those, then you can easily read this one as a standalone. The operative word here being READ it.

Well this was quite enjoyable. It’s no secret that I love this trope and Falling For His Best Friend delivered on the steam and the storyline between best friends Avery and Drew.

Avery found out that she has the genetic marker for the cancer that killed her mother and rendered her sister unable to bear children. So before taking preemptive measures against cancer that might render her unable to have children, Avery sets out to get pregnant. All she needs is a donor.

Drew Flannery has always been there for Avery and despite the attraction that he felt for her, he and Avery have always been just friends. But when Avery announced her intention, Drew can’t imagine anyone else providing that for Avery but him. So he volunteered to become his stud. Literary.

What followed was a series of very hot encounters between two people who, for all intents and purposes, are very suited for each other. But their newfound intimacy are not without issues. Drew has lost his mother at a very young age, which greatly affected his father and in turn Drew and Ryan. He has never allowed himself to fall in love because he saw what his mother’s death did to his father.

Avery has issues of her own. Her family is very traditional Chinese and her grandparents despaired how much Avery and her sister Alexis are rebelling. Not only that, Avery had to deal with the fear of getting the same disease that killed her mother.

This book is the perfect book to read in between heavier stuff. It’s hot and light and there isn’t a lot of angst. I loved that despite its length, the characters were well developed. I would have loved a more substantial conflict but I felt that it’s just perfect for the book.

The story begins with us meeting Avery. Her family has a history of cervical cancer and she carries the gene. After seeing her mother die, her sister undergo a hysterectomy at a young age, Avery decides to take matters into her own hands. She is aware her time is running out and decides to find a sperm donor to father her child. She isn’t married, but desperately wants to be a mother.

When she announces this to her best friend, Drew, he freaks out. He doesn’t want another man in Avery’s life and volunteers to help Avery father a child.

Whatever he’d expected when he’d agreed to this thing, it wasn’t this. He’d just had sex with Avery. His best friend, his partner in crime, the only person in the world who knew all his secrets. And worst of all, he wanted to do it again.

This story is lots of fun and definitely sexy. I enjoyed reading watching their relationship unfold and them learning how to be a couple. There were moments of frustration, but I had to keep in mind Drew has never been in a real relationship. Overall, this is a very enjoyable read, but I really wanted more. The ending felt open and incomplete. While the story is done, I am still curious about what’s to come and feel a lot of questions were left unanswered.

However, this is a very fast, sexy read. The characters are likeable and the story engaging. I definitely recommend if you are looking for this type of read.

Katee Robert knows how to write some pretty sweet and totally steamy moments.

This is a really good friends turned lovers romance. The approach to this one is a bit out of the ordinary & I appreciated that a lot.

Of course there was a ton of angst thrown in for good measure. And some cheesy, yet perfectly suited moments as well. And one totally hot scene involving a cop in uniform and handcuffs. Wow!

Overall, a nice way to spend a few hours. Perfect for any Brazen fan.

Calling all romance addicts, if you are a big fan of friends to lovers stories like myself, then Katee Robert's newest release, Falling For His Best Friend is the book for you. And what is refreshing about this new book is that Ms. Robert was able to add romantic diversity into the story. In this day in age, I love when authors showcases interracial romance. It proves and reminds us all love has no bounds and sees no color. And to have a leading heroine that is of Asian descent, I applaud Ms. Robert for not doing the typical blonde or brunette leading ladies.

#@1

Falling For His Best Friend chronicles the story of Avery Yeung and her best friend, Drew Flannery. Avery knows her time is running out to have a baby since she carries the same cancerous genes that affected her sister and killed her mother. She knows if she wants to have her own biological child, she has to do it now. So when Avery tells her friends, her dad and sister, they were all supportive of her decision to get in vitro fertilization except for Drew.

For Drew Flannery, there is only woman who truly understands him. His best friend, Avery Yeung. So when she drops this surprising news that she wants a baby, it bothered him to know that she plans to carry another man's baby and so he decides that he will be the one to be the sperm donor. And Drew plans to make a baby with Avery the good old fashion way. And so begins, Avery and Drew's adventures in sex. Sex in the kitchen, car, outside, and the bedroom. As they cross the lines of friendship, deeper feelings begins to develop and has them questioning maybe there is something more between them. Not friendship love but TRUE LOVE. So will Drew be able to finally admit to Avery that he wants more and is madly in love with her? Or will his fears destroy any chance of happily ever after with Avery?

So if you love hot, sexy, sizzling and fun romance with a little angst then I suggest you to read Falling For His Best Friend. Katee never fails to deliver a romance that has you smiling. My only hope is that Katee plans to write Avery's sister, Alexis a book because after that epilogue it has me wanting Alexis's story.

4 - "It was a good five percent." Stars!

Another absolutely stellar addition to Katee Robert’s Out of Uniform series, Drew and Avery have been present through the first two books as the couples that have eventually got together in them have all been friends.

”Say what you need to say, Flannery, or shut it.”

The synopsis pretty much gives you the rundown of this story, but as you can expect being best friends and stepping into the ‘hot and heavy’ zone, for any reason is going to come with its pitfalls. And Drew and Avery together working thorugh them were an absolute pleasure to read.

Katee excelled herself with the sexy-times in the book, the sexual tension between the two of them has been sizzling on the back burner for years, the importance of their friendship and not wanting to ruin that has been the motivation for them both to not pursue their feelings further. But with Avery’s potential fertility issues looming on the horizon, and Drew’s reluctance to see her have a child with anyone else, all bets are off, as well as all items of clothing, no surface is left un-fucked, and no vehicle for that matter!

”Is that a baton in your pocket, officer, or are you just happy to see me.”

Great book, it was good to see this couple finally get their own happily ever after. I hope for more books in this series, at some point soon in the future.

I’m not usually a fan of a friends-to-lovers romance, but this one had fun and steamy baby making scheme shenanigans and was such an easy audiobook to listen to.

Avery wants to get pregnant asap, due to a family history of (ovarian?) cancer, and her best friend Drew volunteers to help her - the old fashioned way, obviously.

It was a predictable story, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Well-paced, likeable characters, lots of sweet and steamy moments.

I think the next time I’m looking for a snack size romance, I’ll go for something like this from the Entangled/Brazen line instead of an instalove novella.

I admit, I'm confused every time I read one of Katee's books. While they end up mostly just right of middle of the road for me, I can't help but keep coming back for more. I suppose while the execution is not always stellar in my mind, there is something in her story lines that always pulls me in, all the time.

This trope, the childhood friends to lovers, while not new, appears to be a fave flavour among writers recently, along with the stepbrother one, not sure why... Avery and Drew have been friends since childhood. They've always been there for each other, esp during times of crisis. Drew, being the "good friend" he is, stepped up to the plate and offered to be the sperm donor, which moved their friendship to unknown territory.

Avery was facing issues that no woman should in my ideal world, and for her to take charge of her life the way she did, despite personal, medical and cultural challenges, shows a lot of courage. It is commendable. Drew had a rough upbringing who was forced to grow up really fast. Luckily for both of them, they had each other. And as the story moved along, not only can you see how good a friends they were, but you can also feel their connection. I thought so anyway. It was nice to see a touch of multiculturalism and the interracial aspect with those 2, which really, to me, is more reflective of today's society.

I did wonder how Katee will move those 2 from childhood BFFs to lovers. To a degree, she made it work. Where it might not have worked successfully in my mind was the indecisions and inner struggles of those 2, especially Drew, which probably could've have been prevented if there were more dialogues between them. Drew with his waffling tired me out a bit. In my mind, I was ready to bop him in his head and the way I saw it, only "the" grand gesture would've saved him/story itself. In the end, I suppose he did sorta do that. Let's just say Avery was more forgiving and understanding of the whole thing,

And hey, this is Entangled Brazen after all, so just like I've come to expect at all times, there is always scorching scenes, just saying... teehee...

Trigger Warnings:

This book was so damn boring, I literally skimmed through the whole thing. I was close to DNFing multiple times but continued because it was recommended to me on Reddit. Here's the thing, I didn't even hate the characters, but I didn't like them either. I felt nothing for them, I didn't care about the story or what was going on. There were parts where I could relate but other than that it's your typical friends with benefits storyline, nothing unique, it's all just cliché. I was bored out of my mind I'm surprised I finished so quickly, then again I did skim most of it. So if I get anything wrong, that's probably why.

This follows Avery and Drew, two best friends who have known each other for 20 years. Due to her family's medical history, Avery thinks now is the best time for her to try and get pregnant because she doesn't want to lose the chance of conceiving. The only problem is, she doesn't have a partner. She decides to use a donor but once her best friend Drew finds out, he throws hands. The guy got so bothered he's like I'll be the donor, but if I'm the donor, we're gonna make the baby the right way. Oooooh la la, please kill me.

Now for spoilers

Anyway, if you do wanna check this book out, you don't need to read the first book. I didn't read it and I was fine. I noticed the characters from the previous book do appear in this one but it's not a big deal unless you don't want to be spoiled on the first book. I have no plans of picking any other book in this series but you might like it. But that is all folks, stay safe!

3.5 Yes, officer stars

This story follows a familiar line of best friends to lovers, and having met Drew and Avery in In Bed With Mr Wrong, we’re aware of their madcap schemes and the close friendship they share.

Avery Yeung has had a medical shock, which could affect her ability to have children. With that in mind, she makes the big decision to invoke the services of an anonymous donor, and attempt pregnancy and raising a child on her own.

When Sheriff Drew Flannery hears of Avery’s intentions, his possessive instincts kick into overdrive. How could he sit back and watch his best friend be impregnated by a stranger?

Having read quite a few of Katee Robert’s books, I’m well aware that she can deliver on the steam factor. The chemistry, the teasing, the merging, all nicely paced and able to titillate the reader.

Avery was a resilient, courageous character, that bought spunk and spark to this story. She knew exactly what she wanted, but daren’t chance thinking about any future with her best friend, given his philandering ways and obvious aversion to being tied down.

Drew was a little disappointment for me, in that I struggled to gain an image for him whilst reading. I don’t know what it was, but I just couldn’t get into the bones of the character. Because of that, I feel I couldn’t fully wrap myself around the story at this time.

But this would in no way deter me from picking up a Katee Robert book again. She has more than established herself as one of my “must read” authors.

This book was everything I love about friends-to-lovers stories. One of the things I love most about this sub-genre of romance is the connection and history between the characters. All of that was there with this book.

I loved Avery and Drew. I loved their friendship and the fact that Drew was so in love with her, and so much in denial that he didn’t recognize that fact. Well of course, that led to some really funny and touching situations. Not to mention that this book was seriously hot! It all started Avery announced that she was going to have a baby. Drew, being her best friend and extremely protective, wasn’t cool with her having some other guy’s baby. Under the guise of being there to support her and help her if she needs it, he gallantly offers to father said child. From there, things get hot, and complicated between Drew and Avery.

I loved their journey to admitting that they had feelings beyond friendship for each other. My only complaint was the way Drew pulled away when he doubts about himself got the better of him. He just completely let Avery down and became the guy he was trying to protect her from. While his gesture to make up was sweet, I kind of felt like he should have had to work harder for her forgiveness.

Overall, I really did love their story. I can’t wait to read more from the author.

Its embarrassing to admit, but I actually didn't mean to read this book. I meant to read In bed with Mr Wrong, which is the book before this, but in a moment of stupidity I started reading this one instead. I could of stopped when I realised my mistake, but I already liked it , so I decided to carry on and work backwards , wild woman that I am:)

This was an impressive friends to lovers story, that had more depth than I expected. Avery and Drew have been best friends since they were kids. They have been each others shoulder of support through all the good and bad times.
There is an attraction between them, (which I did like, cause I'm never really convinced with sudden lust after a lifetime of friendship)but they don't act on it because there friendship has always mattered to much to them.

I cared about both these characters instantly, which for me is always a great way to start a book.

Due to possible future heath problems, Avery feels she can't wait to have children any longer. She makes the hard decision to have a baby now with some anonymous frozen swimming friends. Drew is less than happy with this decision but if Avery is going to do this he wants to support and help her, so he goes a the step further, offering to provide his swimmers the good old fashioned way.

Considering they have been blocking out their attraction for years, these too have built up some serious heat. As soon as they get physical, neither one of them can think straight and it all adds to the fun of their story.

What happens between them is supposed to be temporary until Avery is pregnant , but they have always loved each other and adding lots of hot sex into the mix is confusing and scary for them both.

There was some nice easily going moments in this but it also pulled at my heartstrings too. Both Avery and Drew have to deal with some heart wrenching stuff before they get their happy ending. Mistakes are definitely made, but I was completely happy with how things were resolved with a lovely happy ending for these sweet soulmate's.

Only thing that did have me steaming mad was Avery's Grandfather. I don't think I'll ever be able to forgive the awful things he said to either of his Granddaughters, so if Avery's sister does gets her own book, I hope he's either died, mute or disowned by them.

I've really enjoyed reading this. Its a nice paced book to get you through a book hangover or even an actually hangover, if your having fun on your holidays:)

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

When I finally cracked open the pages of Falling for His Best Friend I knew this would become a fast favorite, but I didn’t realize the characters would feel so familiar…until I realized I had met them before! So I went to Goodreads confused and noticed that I had tried to read book one, In Bed with Mr. Wrong in February 2014! Apparently I DNFed it and never tried to pick it up again. So now I am determined to pick it back up and see how it compares to Falling for His Best Friend. But moving on…
He rounded the corner and caught sight of her. Though he recognized that his brother and sister-in-law – and his new niece – were also sitting at the table, all he saw was his best friend

Like most Entangled read, this book began at a fast pace. Right off the bat I could tell this book would be the predictable friends-to-lovers romance novel that the title foretells I don’t go into a Brazen romance looking for that new genre bender that will shake the romance world for years to come, so this wasn’t a shocker or a letdown. So if that is what you are expecting of Falling for His Best Friends , you are looking in the wrong place (and probably the wrong imprint). I did have a blast with these characters and can’t wait to read more!

THE STORY

As you’ve probably gathered by this point, Drew and Avery are best friends…but you probably didn’t know they are the definition of co-dependence. They’ve been friends since they were sixth (if I remember correctly) and have leaned on one another through some extremely rough times. Avery and Drew would not be where they are if they didn’t have such a strong bond with one another.
“Who did you kill?”

“What?”

“Seriously, whose body do you need help hiding a body in the woods?”

The confusion in his eyes cleared. “If I had to bury a body, I wouldn’t call your ass. Your damn jeep would probably break down in the middle of nowhere and we’d get stranded – and caught.”

Avery’s worldview is shifted when she hears news that she only has a short amount of time to have a kid before a scheduled hysterectomy will leave her unable to bear children. Months later she made up her mind: she doesn’t have the time to wait for Mr. Right, so she’ll do it in vitro.

One of the interesting things about  Falling for His Best Friends is the cultural conflict that takes place between Avery’s strictly traditional full-Chinese grandparents and the fact that Avery and her sister had an American mother. I didn’t notice the issue it plays in the book right away, but as the book wore on, I noticed the tension more and more. It took a rather two-dimensional romance and added an interesting layer.

THE CHARACTERS

Drew’s mother died when he was young and his father was never the same again. He decided young that love would turn him into his father, and was determined to never commit to one woman.

Avery’s worldview is shifted when she hears news that she only has a short amount of time to have a kid before a scheduled hysterectomy will leave her unable to bear children. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have the time to wait for Mr. Right to show up, so she decides to take things into her own hands and set up an appointment for in vitro.
“I’m not going to come in a cup and then have some doctor implant you with a turkey baster.”

“Um…that’s not exactly how it works.”

When Drew hears about her plan for single motherhood, he thinks she’s crazy but understands and volunteers to be the sperm donor. Except he has something else in mind when she explains the process of in vitro fertilization.

Because I found this quote hilarious, I talked to my mom (who works at an OB/GYN office) if this is actually possible and apparently, people have actually attempted this and got pregnant (usually lesbian couples who can’t afford a fertility clinic). Unfortunately, this is very unsafe for the baby and usually results in miscarriage and/or deformities. Long story short, best not to go the turkey baster way.

I have to say, I did enjoy Drew and Avery as main characters though they were either seriously misguided when they thought that attempting to have sex for the purpose of conception wouldn’t change the dynamics of their friendship. Personally, I’m thinking they’ve both individually had the hots for each other for so long that they didn’t fully think through how it would affect the future to go thru with it. On the plus side, they were both incredibly sexy and had some wicked fun sexy times. At one point, there are even handcuffs! I love when cops bust out the handcuffs when sexy times occur.

THE END

Even though Avery and Drew were rather unhealthily co-dependent on one another, I loved this book. I know it sounds cheesy to say, but it just says to me how these two are destined to be together forever because nobody else would put up with their weird relationship lmao.   Falling for His Best Friend was at times frustrating, but ultimately too cute (and hilarious, might I add) to hate. I will definitely get back to book one and will be on the lookout for more from Katee Robert!

Avery is facing a difficult decision, she always wanted children but certain factors are against her and unless she has a baby soon she knows she'll miss her chance completely. She had hoped to be in a settled relationship before she reached this point but after several years of being almost permanently single she knows she has to take matters into her own hands and decides to seek the help of a fertility clinic and an anonymous sperm donor. Drew is horrified when he hears about her plans, he worries that if Avery uses a donor then she won't have anyone there to help her when the baby comes along. He knows that he'll always offer her the support she needs but if he's going to end up helping raise another man's baby surely it makes much more sense if he's actually the father? What neither of them are expecting is the scorching hot attraction that builds between them. It was supposed to be simple - get Avery pregnant and then go back to being best friends - but now things are much more complicated. Can they find a way to move their relationship forward or are they going to lose each other forever.

I'm a sucker for friends to lovers stories so I've been looking forward to reading about Avery and Drew ever since they were introduced in In Bed with Mr. Wrong. We've seen them as best friends and fellow trouble makers but it was obvious that the connection between them went much deeper than that and I was really excited to see how they would be able to make things work.

Avery is great, she's independent, a bit of a tomboy and wants to live life on her own terms. She comes from a very strict family and knows that her grandparents won't approve of her plans but she is determined to do things her way. Drew has been her best friend for as long as she can remember, he was her rock when her mother died and has always been the one person she can turn to no matter what. She's always been attracted to him but their friendship is way to important for her to risk it on a fling with someone who has always been a bit of a player. Drew had to grow up early, he pretty much raised himself and his younger brother because their drunk dad wasn't able to care for them. Drew had to be the responsible one at home but Avery was always there to raise hell with him when he needed to let of steam and she means everything to him. He is absolutely terrified of turning into his father though and has always sworn that he would never get married or have children.

Both Avery and Drew have faced really difficult things in their lives but neither of them have ever let it hold them back. They are great together, they have so much in common and enjoy hanging out just playing games or watching movies. Add in the fantastic sex that they've just discovered and they're pretty much a perfect couple, IF they can both get past their fears long enough to give themselves a shot at something permanent. I loved spending time with these two, I also loved catching up with Bri and Ryan and my heart was broken finding out what Avery's sister Alexis has been through. I'm really hoping that Katee Robert is going to give Alexis a book of her own because if anyone deserves a HEA it's her! Once again this author has written a fantastic contemporary romance, her stories are always fun, light hearted and scorching hot and they never fail to hold my full attention. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

Katee Robert is one of those authors you always know you will end her books with a few wet panty moments and a big smile and this one was the perfect companion for a rainy afternoon in.

We met Drew and Avery in the first out of uniform book and I was so glad to see them get their own story.

I was expecting a light and fluffy friends to forever story, what I got instead was a lot more emotion and a story line that had me wondering how it was going to play out while opening the door for a few of our secondary characters to maybe be heading into their own books soon.

But luckily none of the emotions or storyline got in the way of some smoking hot cops and robbers or a few orgasms on the kitchen bench and I had a few moments biting my lip hoping none of the soccer mums around me noticed me squirming.

So if you are looking for a feel good story that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy and damp this is the perfect book.

Happy Release Day!

I like the best friend to lovers trope, and Ms. Robert did an excellent job with it here. Drew and Avery have been close for years. There was that one moment where they almost took their relationship beyond friends, but they were both worried about losing their friendship if it didn't work out. So they let the moment pass.

Now that Avery is taking steps to have a baby, without benefit of a relationship, Drew can't stand the idea. There is no way he's going to let her do this alone. He's also not on board with her finding some random guy to father the child she so desperately wants. He'll do the honors...and scratch that itch that always festered where she's concerned.

I do enjoy watching friends turn into lovers, and this one was lots of fun. I also found myself really MAD. Avery's very traditional Grandfather was horrible! Truly awful. I sincerely hope Drew was right and Grandma reads him the riot act. There will be another book in this series, I'm sure, and I hope we get to see him get his behind handed to him.

If you've never read Ms. Robert before, you're in for a treat. I recommend this to those that enjoy contemporary romance.

Thank you, Entangled and Netgalley, for the opportunity to read this book.

This was waiting for me on my kobo app. I apparently had it removed from my kobo because it's in third person pov and not in first.

Still I liked this idea and I started it and it's also a short one so that's a good thing too. First I was a bit confused about the title but now I get it.

So Avery wants to have a baby, but doesn't have a boyfriend or man in her life. Besides her best friend Drew, but they were really best friends without the benefits. Now Drew just can't stand the idea of Avery having a baby with another man. So he takes actions in his own hands..

It was actually pretty fun, even though it was in Third person pov (Something I have trouble with).

It was a brilliant best friend romance story, not mushy like a typical romance. This book had the right amount of sexual content. The only negative I have about this book is that it lacked passion and .. suspense.
To me it was a small bit bland but still an excellent book to bring to bed

Was it the most predictable plot ever? Yes.
Did I still finish the book? Of course.

It was cute and short. Exactly what I was looking for.

I adored Katee's In Bed With Mr. Wrong last year, so I was excited to pick up Drew and Avery's story in Falling For His Best Friend. We got to see their scheming side in the first book and we already knew how well they worked together. In this book, we get to see the two realize their feelings of friendship are developing into something more... something that could complicate everything.

I am such a fan of best friends to lovers stories and I really enjoyed this one. Drew and Avery have been friends for so long, but in recent months have started to feel things for the other they know they shouldn't. It all comes to a head when Avery drops the bomb that she wants to have a baby. With her family's medical history being what it is, she's too afraid of letting the chance slip by. Her friends, Bri and Ryan, are supportive of her, having their own baby at home they love and adore. Drew, on the other hand, isn't so keen on this plan. This irrational jealousy bubbles up in him and suddenly he doesn't want her having this baby on her own and he certainly doesn't want some random donor involved. He tells Avery that if she's going to do this, they're going to do it together. He won't let her be on her own and while he himself doesn't feel like kids and a family are ever in his future, he won't risk letting his best friend fail.

I loved Drew for doing this, but at the same time he was really frustrating because he was so hung up on his own fears that he couldn't admit to Avery that he really had developed true feelings for her. I get the whole not wanting to ruin the friendship aspect. Sometimes friends to lovers stories don't work out (I can attest to that), but these two click on a level on a lot of people don't. And holy chemistry. That cop car scene? Sweet baby Jesus that was hot.

This was a cute, steamy story and I enjoyed where Robert took Avery and Drew's relationship. It worked for them and I enjoyed seeing Drew finally admit to himself and Avery that she was what he wants and he'll be damned if someone else raises this baby with her. I also loved seeing Bri and Ryan again and how happy those two are. I am glad we got to see both of these couples get their happy endings.

This was a great book. I liked the use of Avery's Asian background to help set the tension between the hero and heroine. While I've seen characters with non-good-ol'American backgrounds, this is one of the best uses of such a background I've seen. I really enjoyed Avery.

Sheriff Drew...now why can't I have a hunky sheriff like him to want to make me pregnant (well, other than the fact that I love my actual husband and have three children already, but, besides that point...).

I'm writing this some months after I read the book, and other than the really big influence of Avery's family over her actions, I don't really remember that much of the story, which is why I ended up only being able to give it three stars. This is unusual, because I know I love Ms. Roberts' work most of the time.

So - it's a good story, just not a spectacular one (IMO).

Male BFF decided to help h with her biological clock.
seton decided to pop her Katee cherry.

It was okay. Nothing worth mentioning beyond that the h is Chinese. I could have finished it if I forced myself, but it wouldnt have affected my life whether I did or didn't since I am not planning to read this author again. So, I didn't.
