My Kinky Housemate #4

Keep Me on Edge

Rate this book
Stefan’s unique skills make him perfect for me, but can they lead to a lasting relationship?
A sleeping disorder means I keep odd hours. During a late-night conversation, Stefan and I discover we’ve got more in common than we thought: a love of chess, family members who have cast us aside, and a mutual attraction.

For the first time in my life, I’m with someone who sees me. I know I could help Stefan let go of the emotional hurt he’s kept trapped inside for years. At the same time, I need him to empower me through pain.

Stefan is used to being strong for everyone. Will he let me in so I can help him navigate a long-awaited reunion, or will he keep his hurt locked inside?

Keep Me On Edge is an mm romance with housemates who become lovers, edging, pain-play, opinionated housemates, absent family members, and dates as eccentric as Stefan’s clothing. It’s the fourth book in the My Kinky Housemate series, and while it can be enjoyed as a standalone, it’s better to read it as part of the series.

Trigger warnings: mentions of alcoholism and drug use by minor characters, absent parents, and the loss of a parent in the past.

I have been looking forward to Quinn and Stefan’s story since this series started. I just didn’t expect it to be SO SWEET. It’s so so sweet. Quinn has just had a tough run of things, dealing with his narcolepsy and cataplexy. Colette is SO GOOD at research for unique and/or sensitive things. It will always be something I appreciate in her books. And Stefan’s story started in book two with his twin Beau, who had a tough upbringing with a criminal father and an absent mom. Despite the pain of both characters situations, the ease of their relationship was frankly a breath of fresh air. I am one who doesn’t mind angst free as long as it’s done right and it is here. And Quinn’s narcolepsy brought a unique dynamic to their kink which also just adds to the fact that Colette writes about things and situations most authors don’t. Or if they do, it’s riddled with pain and angst I sometimes can’t handle.

I loved this book. I love the ease of their connection. I love how they have both overcome so much. I also appreciate how the mom was dealt with. I can’t say more than that without spoiling.

I am REALLY looking forward to Rory’s story, who we really didn’t know much about until this book.

Not bad, but my least favourite from this series so far.

It’s the story of Quinn, who has a sleeping disorder and who’s working from home drawing illustrations for books. And Stefan, Beau‘s twin, who’s a pro Dom at The Library.

What I missed here was the push and pull, they’re basically starting to date right from the start, and in a rather casual way (paraphrasing here: “You want to go out on a date?” “Yes, sounds good.”)

Anyway. The main issue is, ofc, Quinn’s sleeping disorder and the way they worked around it. I can’t even count how many times it’s been mentioned that his head grows heavy, his legs fall asleep or that he starts slurring. I mean - I didn’t know anything about this disorder before, and I can imagine it’s tough to manage. But it really pains me to say it - and I don’t want to offend anyone - it gets boring to read about it in a romance book when it happens every other page.

Also, this book’s “kink” was pain and being marked - not something that pushes my “kinky buttons”, if you know what I mean.

Then there’s a little bit of family drama about Beau’s and Stefan’s mother who abandoned them as children - again, it felt like a completely unnecessary side plot that didn’t resolve anything.

I’ll still rate it with 3 stars because I loved seeing the other couples again, and because Quinn and Stefan were sweet together. It was ok, but I skimmed quite a bit .

Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to Rory’s book now 🙂

i didn’t like this nowhere near as much as the first three books in this series.

minor spoilers ahead.

i absolutely felt zero chemistry between the MCs. maybe it’s because they basically jump into the relationship without any reservations, questions or even just second guessing. “want to go on a date?” “yes” that’s it. and this happens at the beginning of the book. it obviously didn’t thrill me but i thought that maybe the author just wanted to start the relationship very quickly to move on the best part: kinky sex. i mean, stefan is a pro dom, i had high expectations in the kink department.
well i was wrong.
we have the absolutely disappointing number of two (2) kinky sex scenes that were also pretty tame and that’s it.

i did enjoy how sweet and supportive the MCs were with each other and i’ll give an extra star for that.

i will read the next book and i really hope that it will be like the first three (which i loved) and not at all like this one.

My favourite books to read in the entire world are the super cute low angst books (that still have a little conflict but not much) that have some of the sweetest romances I have ever read. It's just my preferred genre and I always go back to this genre when I need to be comforted. And this book did the job perfectly for me.

This book was just the sweetest thing I have read in ages. I just loved the romance, so so much. It was just so cute and full of so much love, romance and understanding. I just adored how the characters were always there for each other and how perfectly they complimented each other.

I just don't have enough words to say how much I loved the romance in this book, it was just one of the cutest romances I have ever read.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion.

This book is called Keep Me On Edge and it certainly lived up to its name! I tore through this book but any time I had to stop for some mundane task I would be completely on edge wondering what was going to happen next.

I’ve been waiting for this story ever since Quinn stepped onto the page in a previous book! I loved him from the first moment. Quinn is a work-from-home illustrator who has narcolepsy with cataplexy. His conditions are not the point of the story, they are just part of Quinn and part of the difficulties that arise in his new relationship with Stefan, a pro-Dom.

They have to do some adjusting to their thinking. Mistakes are certainly made, not everything goes smoothly, but they learn the best way for their unique relationship to thrive. Their story is incredibly sweet and super sexy, especially with Stefan being a pro-Dom. I thought it was especially sweet and showed Quinn’s trust in Stefan when Quinn revealed his kinks to Stefan--something more than one housemate has tried to discover. Though I’m sure some of those kinks became apparent to other housemates as their relationship grew.

I have loved getting to know every single one of these guys. I desperately want to know what is in store for the last few housemates.

I really enjoy this series simply because the found family dynamics are beautiful and the couples always suit each other in the best ways. I also love learning about the different kinks and the steam level is always to the max. Stefan and Quinn hit all the feels—they were super sweet together and it was nice getting to know Stefan a little more and learn more about Quinn’s condition. We also get some fun moments with the housemates which is always a highlight.

All that being said, I was disappointed in the level of kink in this book. I thought for sure we would get a lot due to Stefan being a pro Dom. I was looking forward to exploring that with him—professionally and in his relationship with you Quinn. But we only get two scenes and the other steamy parts are very sweet and lovey. This was just a bit too sweet for me.

As much as I’m looking forward to learning more about Rory, I cannot wait to get Hendrix’s book. He had become my favorite and I really want him to meet his match—or two.

Each book I read in this series becomes my new favorite! Stefan has intrigued me from the very beginning, and I knew I'd end up with a soft spot for Quinn once I got to know him. On the surface, they don't seem like an obvious couple, but Davison weaves them into a perfect fit. Stefan's training and natural inclinations make him the perfect partner for Quinn, but even aside from the physical, their personalities and shared interests make this relationship arc sweet enough for the most vanilla romance.

After Beau's issues with their father in a previous book, I worried that Stefan's search for their mother would feel like retreading old ground with both twins. However, the circumstances are entirely different on all accounts, and I loved the closure we get for the brothers and the way Quinn (and Fraser) support both of them through it.

As usual, Davison teases the next book in the series through events in the main story and a separate epilogue. I already can't wait.

Finally this is the book that I’ve read this whole series for! I recently read another book about an MC with narcolepsy and cataplexy and found it really interesting so I was keen to read this purely for that reason. I think the author did a great job researching this medical condition and including it throughout the book. It features A LOT and isn’t brushed over. I feel like the kink aspect really worked with the medical issue here and I enjoyed the hurt/comfort vibes throughout this. It was VERY SWEET and low angst but I’ve gotten used to the writing style of this author now so this didn’t grate on me too much, I’ll just need to read something súper murdery after this series. Now I’m hooked on finding out what happens with the last 2 housemates.

Keep me on edge is another great book from Colette Davison in the Kinky Housemate series.

I've been so looking forward to Quinn and Stefan's book and this didn't disappoint. It's full of the sweetness and lovely friendships that the other books are, as well as complicated family relationships.

Quinn's kinks are mild in comparison to some and they don't take the focus of the book, which I appreciated.

More goes on the plot about the twin's mum and Quinn's medical conditions which kept it grounded.

The end was really sweet but I want more of that scene (you'll know what I mean when you read it 😉)

Yay for the next book's characters!

I was sooooo looking forward to Quinn and Stefan's story! It was obvious to everyone that they liked each other, I was pleasantly surprised that Quinn made the first move finally. His kinks fit perfectly with Stefan's experience, and the smexy scenes are smokin hot!!! The romance between these two is so sweet in comparison. I will always be your pillow - SWOON <3 I'm glad that we got closure on Stefan and Beau's mother, but I think I really hate her character. Colette does an excellent job giving just enough detail and insight into Quinn's illness. These two deserve each other after all their heartbreak and struggles. I'm excited for Rory's story next!

Stefan and Quinn

We finally get to see Quinn reveal his kinks but only to Stefan. We saw a glimpse of their connection in previous books and it only grows in this story.

Quinn and is sleep disorder, was interesting and I believe dealt with perfectly.

I enjoyed this read and enjoy reading this whole series.

Keep Me On Edge of the fourth book in the Kinky Housemate series by Colette Davison. This book is about Stefan and Quinn. Stefan is a pro-Dom and Quinn an illustrater and has narcolepsy with cataplexy.

I loved their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written. I loved seeing everyone again and can't wait for the next book. I really recommend this book..... this whole series.

Stefan and Quinn FTW

I’d like to acknowledge that my expectations for Quinn and Stefan were…quite high AND THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT. As this book is heavily intertwined with the previous books — would highly recommend reading the first three books first. Stefan’s background really starts to get interesting in book 2, Plaything, which features Stefan’s twin Beau and their kinky housemate Fraser. Stefan and Beau have a complex family dynamic and Beau’s story focuses on their relationship with their father, whereas Stefan’s is more about their relationship with their mother. Like all her books, Davison’s portrayal of complex family dynamics is realistic, which can be gritty and painful, yet even when things don’t turn out like candy coated perfection (which I wouldn’t buy anyway), I’m still left satisfied and soothed by the relationship between the MCs. Here again, Davison consistently manages to portray unique aspects of characters (in this case Quinn’s narcolepsy), in an engaging and realistic manner. I don’t know much about narcolepsy, but I was swept away by Stefan’s first date efforts, which were managed to be both painfully awkward at times and adorably sweet and swoon-worthy. Davison allows Stefan and Quinn to be imperfectly adorable in navigating a relationship with a chronic medical condition—while still going full stop on the heat. I mean, Stefan is a pro dom so expectation for heat was high - and these two were scorching. But more than that, Stefan is Quinn’s knight in black armor, and Quinn is Stefan’s support while he explores old wounds (metaphorically speaking). I’m not going to lie, I 100% stan Stefan and Quinn and I’m so glad I got to go along on the ride to their HEA.

I'm so happy that Quinn and Stefan finally have their story with hints of something ever since Quinn moved into the shared house. Quinn stole my heart since we first read of him living with narcolepsy and cataplexy, and this book enables us to read just how much it affects his life on a daily basis. I think, out of everyone, Stefan is the perfect person to love and care for Quinn. Always checking in but not taking over, strong both mentally and physically to offer his support to Quinn but then Quinn also turns that around, offering a safe space for Stefan to feel vulnerable enough to open up about the family drama going on in his life right now.
Stefan goes to wonderful detail to try and ensure whatever they do can be the best possible date/outing for the two of them. Quinn has been made to feel bad about himself by previous boyfriends so apologises a lot but Stefan sets out to change his way of thinking. Their relationship does move pretty quickly but it feels so natural between them that you don't notice. It's funny because Stefan joked with his brother, Beau, that his relationship with Frazer went "nought to sixty at the speed of a Ferrari".
This is such a lovely read. Very little angst in the romance department but Stefan has some family stuff to deal with that has come up in a previous book and they learn together how Quinn's conditions will be impacted by their interactions. I can't wait for the next book after the teaser that we get at the end of this one.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Keep Me on Edge is the fourth book in Colette Davison’s My Kinky Housemate series. The books center around a group of kinky men who share a house, and the various roommates appear in one another’s stories. The books generally stand alone from a relationship viewpoint, but often some of the storylines cross over a bit. In this case, we learned in Plaything, which features Stefan’s twin brother, Beau, that the men were abandoned by their mother as young teens. We see that storyline just beginning in that first book, and here we get some resolution. I think it comes together well, allowing us to see the different ways the two brothers approach the situation, as well as answering the questions of what happened to their mother and why. It also gives a chance for Quinn to step up and support Stefan, a man who is used to having to shoulder a lot of responsibility, both in his home and professional life.

What can I say but Quinn is my new hero and Stefan is one amazing empathetic man. For all the trials that Quinn faces he is also one of the most understanding and loving people. Stefan sees Quinn for who he is and what's more allows Quinn to see him. These to just shine with love and curtness. Not to mention enough heat to melt your eReader!
I love Colette's stories as I'm sure anyone who has read my reviews knows they almost all hit the mark for a fully developed world with very human characters. I have found that each of the roommates are unique and whole in their own right will making a complex tapestry of interweaving stories that just melt your heart and make you smile. If you have read the first 3 books in the series, please don't miss this one, and if you haven't read them, I full recommend you do as all the characters stories continue to develop and are a part of the narrative.

The kinky housemates series is one of my favourites and Colette reminded me why. Keep me on edge is the 4th book of the series and I’d recommend reading them in order. Honestly I fell in love with all these boys even more.

Stefan honestly surprised me, he was so much sweeter than I was expecting. I loved how understanding Stefan was towards Quinn’s narcolepsy and cataplexy. Seeing this caring and loving side of Stefan really made me swoon.

Hendrix has teased these two since Quinn moved in. Their chemistry is obvious and when they decide to get to know each other better their connection is undeniable.

Quinn is just the cutest. The way these two support each other is so sweet, I love them so much. I liked that Stefan and his twin beau got the answers that they have wanted for years and got some closure.

As always I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

I received an arc in return for my honest review

Another awesome installment to the Kinky Housemate series. There was so much I loved about this book.
-Stefan’s patience and understanding when it came to Quinn’s narcolepsy.
-Quinn’s words of comfort and wisdom.
-Their natural comfort with each other and their banter.
-That love confession scene. Can you say swoony!
-The sweet, tender moment between Quinn and Hendrix; getting to see Hendrix with his guard down for the moment has me even more intrigued by him.
-The subplot with the twin’s mom was very engaging.
-Seeing more of the twin’s relationship.
-More housemate interactions.
-Them getting answers about their past and deciding to move forward.
-Chem.Is.Try.
I am beyond stoked for Rory’s and Hendrix’s stories. I want them to be out already, but I don’t want this series to end. I want it to keep going and going!

This series keeps getting better and better! I was so curious about Quinn's kink, and in hindsight it really fits him. His and Stefan's story is one of the most complicated at first glance, mostly because Quinn's condition, but they manage to figure it out pretty quickly and in a way that is good for both of them. Yes, they make mistakes, and I really appreciate it, because it makes me feel like they're real people, not just characters. And that, precisely that, is what makes an author a wonderful author, to me.
Of course with a pro-Dom the sexy scenes couldn't be more hot 🔥🔥🔥🔥, but they're also sweet, swoony and sometimes funny.
I can't wait to read the next installment.

This is book 4 in the My Kinky Housemate Series and I do suggest reading in order so you know the housemates and a little about the house. However you could get by with just reading book 2 Beau, Stefan’s twin brother’s story so you know some of their family history.

There are 8 housemates plus Quinn’s brother Rory so plenty of characters. All intriguing with great personality. I love how these men are like a made family and help each other.
Quinn has Narcolepsy and we learn about that and how it can make life difficult.
Again I loved the support the men showed each other through each issue that arises.

The books do have some kink in it this one was Pain play/ edging, and Stefan is a pro Dom
hurt/comfort is a major topic covered.
I can’t wait for Rory’s book!

Another great addition to the My Kinky Housemates series. Stefan and Quinn had me swooning! They are so prefect together, sweet, and really hot! Their scenes were sexy AF! I fell in love with these guys. Stefan was so patient and understanding and caring and Quinn is just a delight! I loved getting to know them better and see them get their HEA. You were introduced to Stefan and Beau's story/issues in Plaything and you get some closure in this book, which was nice. I really enjoyed this book. I'm enjoying the entire series, it's so sweet and sexy. Can't wait for Rory and Hendrix stories!

I'm loving this series and each book becomes my new favourite. Yes, the series is called Kinky housemates but it's about so much more.i had been looking forward to Quinn and Stefan's story and it really didn't disappoint. It was so sweet. They both have their issues. Stefan is messed up because of his parents and Quinn has a sleep condition that affects his every day life. They have both had a crush on each other since Quinn moved in and they finally give it a go. I loved following their relationship develop and it was so sweet how protective and patient Stefan is of Quinn but it goes both ways. Quinn gives Stefan support too. And their chemistry was so hot too.Again, Colette's attention to detail always impresses me. I loved reading this story 💜

DNF at 17%. Feeling no chemistry between the characters. While the illness is intriguing since it’s triggered by emotion, I’m not invested enough to be even mildly curious how they’re supposed to have a spicy kinky (according to the summary) relationship if he falls over and falls asleep just holding the other MC’s hand. Kind of boring tbh, and then I hit a paragraph that made no sense (“Quinn’s voice was back to normal” but he hadn’t said anything??? Plus something like “live in the moment and then let go like with sex” “shouldn’t that phrase be lemonade” something like that where it just made no sense) overall just can’t get into it

I am loving the My Kinky Housemates series, in each of these books we enjoy a new relationship about one or more of the housemates as they experience the ups and downs of dating. Stefan has always held a special place in my heart because his dominant persona makes him not as easy to read as some of the other housemates, and it's these personality traits that make him a perfect match for Quinn. This book was a enjoyably fun fast reading romance about how Stefan and Quinn figure out how to navigate the sometimes bumpy road to their forever after.

Stefan and Quinn finally getting together is so cute and I loved how thoughtful they are together. Colette once again shows her research into the personal quirks of these two characters that makes their lives a little challenging and then proceeds to create a love story that embraces their challenges but doesn't fetishize them. Another excellent addition to the kinky housemate series and love meeting these wonderful men and their fun interactions. ***This is a review of an ARC ***

A much anticipated book in this series and Stefan and Quinn were simply adorable together.
Quinn is a relatively new housemate and is one who intrigues the others as they try to figure out his kink.
Professional Dom, Stefan is drawn to Quinn and when they explore the attraction between them, they find that their kinks align perfectly.

A story that deals with a main character who has a chronic condition thats needs that little bit of extra care and finds a partner that is perfect for him, family issues, scorching kinky scenes and wonderful supporting characters.
Definitely one of the best in the series for me.

Keep Me On Edge, book four in My Kinky Housemates series features Quinn and Stefan. My favorite bit about the series is how all the housemate interact with each other throughout the series. This book hits all the right places, the beginning was sweet with learning all about Quinn and Stefan when they're out on their date, to them sharing their kinks. It was a very enjoyable book, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

In the acknowledgements, the author said she ended up re-writing the opening and ending thanks to her feedback and sensitivity reader team. It was worth the publishing delay for it, because this was beautiful. I had no idea how these two were going to get to their HEA when I started reading, but I loved every step of their journey. Their care with and for each other is amazing. Definitely my favorite of the series so far!
