Category 5 Hurricane Willard is barreling toward Grand Cayman, but Fin Fleming, acting director at RIO, a world-famous oceanography institute, has everything under control.
Or so she thinks, at least until she realizes she forgot to send her stepbrother Oliver’s new boat to drydock along with the institute’s other boats. She risks her life to move his boat to safety. Then after the storm, while assessing the boat for damage, she makes a horrifying discovery that sets off the disturbing chain of events.

Maddy concentrates on an off-island project while Newton and Dane are still struggling to figure out their relationships with her. Benjamin suffers injuries during the storm, but Doc is around to bring him back to health. Stewie and Chaun work on rebuilding RIO, while Fin and DS Dane Scott go after the bad guys.

And Fin is puzzled by Oliver’s erratic behavior. He’s flipping every few minutes from his usual sunny self to a snarling, angry shark snapping at everyone around him—especially Fin.

The usual fun stuff is happening too. A once in a lifetime chance to pilot a multi-million dollar personal submarine. Rosie, the American Pygmy octopus, and Suzie Q, the Southern Stingray, are back, both doing their things. Plus there’s a crazy free-range rooster named Chico on the hunt for treats and bad guys.

And then there’s Liam. Always Liam.

Not to rush you Ms. Ward or anything…

…. I do realize this latest book was just released…ohhh … in the last week or so.
But - when’s the next book in the series coming out?! ;)
Killer Storm — I believe this Fin Fleming & Company story has been my favorite in the series thus far!
Perhaps because it (finally!!) validated some long-held suspicions I’ve held regarding a character or two. And those moments felt like such a relief, almost like the suspense went on for a touch too long.
I truly loved when Ray Russo was in the picture, actively. But since Book 1 & even Book 2, the story has become so much more complex in this, the 4th book of the series.
The world richer & more detailed.
The characters - with new friends & temporary foes being consistently added - were originally extremely well developed to begin with.
Now they each have so many additional layers & dimensions to their personalities; all that makes up who someone is as a unique individual (outside & inner “stuff”). Just like we find in our friends & family around us. In ourselves.
I just realized that there’s not a lot of diving occurring in this book, this time around. But it’s not missed. There’s too much constant action. Jujjhi
I read Killer Storm in one early afternoon through 11pm sitting. And from page 1 until swiping the very last page Sharon Ward keeps her writing gas pedal floored the entire journey.
There’s a tantalizing mystery to be solved, surprising twists abound, the pace keeps tension maxed in a great way, there’s some creepy scenarios, as always there’s relationship situations to ponder, & the satisfaction I previously mentioned in hunches being proved correct (like a cool drink on a hot day!).
Additionally & as a true bonus, Fin FINALLY shows humongous growth here in this tale. It is honestly a breath of fresh air to read a Fin Fleming story & have her NOT take the blame for “everything” even slightly negative which occurs in her surroundings.
It appears that exhausting (painfully eye rolling, nauseating), compulsive, neurotic tendency of Fin’s to think or say, “it’s all my fault,” 67 times a chapter seems to have somehow miraculously healed itself between this book & the previous one.
However that happened … Hallelujah!
(Thank you, Sharon Ward!! :)
Overall, Killer Storm is an all around slam dunk by the master of her craft, author Sharon Ward.
Absolutely her best Fin Fleming story yet. Don’t miss it!!
(And …. there’s STILL some teensy loose threads in the grand scheme of things! I am holding those threads with my fingertips. Just gonna bide my time, as the tide rolls in & out, in & out …
Until the next Fin story is released. I am sooo looking forward to what adventure(s) await us next time around. AND revelations! …. ;)

Loved the story, but not sure what happened with the continuity. In the last book RIO had about 3,000 tanks. Now they barely have enough for a couple of days. The jet ski was found by searchers in the same location where it was last seen, but then a few pages later, the same searchers reported not finding it.
“…caught site of her…” What?! Editing was a bit sloppy in this ebook. Still, I can’t wait to see what happens next.

A great read full of action, adventure, intrigue, and even a little romance in the world of scuba diving. What happens when a hurricane strikes and someone is trying to take advantage of the chaos? Fin Fleming is out to track down the bad guys. This book, set in the Cayman Islands, will give you hours of escape reading from your real life and into the intriguing world of Fin Fleming and RIO.

Complicated plot but too many leaps of faith to get there.

The unrealistic reactions of the characters is so far off that I was actually annoyed with their stupidity. Leaving doors unlocked and going diving alone when murderers are around.

This one went places I did not expect. Some of it I was fine with while others I thought eh. I got tired of the scapegoat to consistently be the same people or affiliated with them. Otherwise a good story. Its nice to see Liam back and there is personal growth in a lot of the secondary characters.

More adventures for Fin Fleming. I love this character and the vivid underwater descriptions of diving. Anxiously awaiting Hidden Depths!

A good mix of action with a side of romance. Some fun along with trouble that seams to follow the main character Fin everywhere she goes!! Good thing she has great friends and family support!!!
