An Obsessed Killer Watches Her Every Move When the estranged wife of a high-powered pharmaceutical CEO witnesses the brutal slaying of her husband’s latest mistress, the prime suspect in the homicide claims that FBI profiler and criminal psychologist Bridget Bishop is his unlikely alibi.
After the savage murder is linked to two similar homicides, the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit is drawn into the hunt for a suspected serial killer, and Bridget must join forces with a rival profiler in a desperate bid to find the diabolic killer’s hiding place before another innocent life is lost.
Book Three in the chilling new thriller series by Melinda Woodhall, author of the Mercy Harbor Thriller Series and the Veronica Lee Thriller Series.
Bridget never means to get involved and reeled back into the world of profiling and the FBI's unit of the BAU. Every time she says this is the last time, she finds herself being pulled back into the limelight and drama of the FBI. In her current workload, she was writing a report about the Montclairs and their daughter Cassidy. Monty Montclair and his second wife Scarlet are getting a divorce and with a child in the mix, Bridget must write a report to see who gets custody. Unfortunately for Bridget - the dad has NPD and the mum has BPD. What happens though when Monty's latest mistress Harmony is found murdered and it looks like Monty is the main suspect? The thing though is he has an alibi, as he was in a session with Bridget Bishop. Her involvement with the family will have Bridget reeled back in and profiling who the real killer is. This was quite a twisted read as I have never read and experienced so many selfish people in one book. In Where Evil Hides, it is every man and woman for themselves and shows the evils that having lots of money can cause. I enjoyed this book and I am now looking forward to seeing whether Melinda writes any more in this series or turns her focus towards Frankie Dawson's series which I can't wait to read. If you love mysteries and authors like Melinda Leigh, Tess Gerritsen, and Kendra Elliot, then Melinda Woodhall is the author for you and once you read one of hers, you will be like me and read everything as I am now up-to-date with this author's works.
I’ve read nearly everything that this author has written and never been disappointed. This book is the third of the Brigit Bishop series, and it feels like meeting up with friends again, or at least people you’d like to be friends with.
This book carries on very nicely from the last, with more background and more depth to various relationships coming in. I like the will they/won’t they feel with Charlie and Hale, and Bridget and Santino get to know each other better too. Add to that a really well written Murder/mystery, all in all it’s a very good read. My only quibble, I read them too quickly. Highly recommended.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is at the core a story of a family, and the horrible wrongs that can be committed when one member has no concern for anyone but themselves. That description fits more than one person in this story but it’s true all the same. While murders were committed that had no connection to the family it all started with a hurt child. Hurt that festered and grew until it spiraled out of control and became something dark and deadly. This also chronicles Bridget Bishop and her continuing involvement in serial cases no matter how hard she struggles to stay a civilian and out of the killer catching business. This book is disturbing in the best way that thrillers are in that it’s so easy to see how a safe “normal” life can be turned into a horror filled nightmare. Definitely one of the best thriller books and series I’ve read! I received an advance review copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Love this series! Have enjoyed all the books I have read by Melinda. She twists a tale so good, it has you keep guessing who the culprits are, one minute you think you have it solved and the next minute something new is introduced and you have a totally different suspect. This is a book you won't want to put down, it is so full of suspense. An excellent psychological thriller about a serial killer. Can't wait for the next book in this series. This book can be read as a standalone but you don't want to miss reading all the books in this series. Recommend. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary honest review.
Some stuff didn't connect. I liked all the characters and there were a lot. Bridget is the main character but I actually liked Charlie Day better. In the end I liked her more but I don't remember reading about her. She has an Irish setter and I would totally remember that. Her boyfriend, santino, is still mourning his dead wife and I see trouble in that relationship going forward. there are so many people I suspected about the crimes and none were the dragon blade killer but you have to read it to figure out who it was. Quite interesting. I am going to go back and see if I read this series before or if I need to go back and reread. All because of the dog! I like them the best!
Thank you to BookSirens for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily. Melinda Woodhall has another winner with this one! She is a master storyteller and really knows how to weave a tangled web of deceit and twists. Bridget Bishop is the star of this book. She has hung up her career working with the FBI as a Profiler and has gone into private practice. So, when one of her patients witnesses a brutal murder, she is called to the scene. Bear in mind her former boss is still begging her to return to the BAU which means he is delighted to have her on board for this investigation. This book is full of action, suspense and intrigue. Melinda Woodhall always provides plenty of "suspects" in each of her mysteries, and the suspect pool was varied in this one. I really like the characters in this series, and you will learn more about each of them in this book. She makes the characters come alive off of the page, and you will feel some of their emotions as she describes them. As per her usual style, the pace of the book and plot is pulse-pounding. You have corporate greed, fractured relationships and a maniac bent on causing chaos and death. Her storytelling is almost addictive to the reader as you will not be able to put the book down once you start it! This one deserves 10 stars! I anxiously await the next book by Melinda Woodhall!
I often wonder where authors get their subject and spin a tale that is unique, exciting and captivating each time the story is published. Well, fertile imagination may be it, an asset that Ms. Woodhall definitely has she does spin a wicket tale hard to put down.
In this latest, Bridget is drawn into the hunt for a suspected serial killer and joins forces with a profiler. This come after the estranged wife of a high-powered CEO witness the brutal slaying of her husband’s latest squeeze. A savage murder linked to two similar homicides.
What an exciting story filled with twists and turns, tension and suspense galore. No doubts “Where Evil Hides” is action-packed and yes a winner in my books. I like how the author draws us into the world of crime and how her players solve the mystery. The character development in Bridget is progressing nicely both professionally as well as personally not forgetting the supporting cast adds smarts to the experience. There is a lot going on, not a dull moment from the opening page till you hate seeing the ending. Trying to guess the whodunit is futile.....the she or he will surprise you....
Kudos to you Melinda another excellent read
I received a free copy of this book and I leave a voluntary review, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
I found this story interesting. I haven't read any of this author's previous work but I am interested. I think I would read the other books in the series and then come back to this one to see if I feel the same. The author has an engaging writing style.

This the the third book in this series I have read and the 11th book overall by this author I've read. I'm so in love with the writing style I can't wait to read what she writes next.
This series has wonderful characters to follow. I love that there always seems to be a dog attached to one or more of the characters, they are such a comfort.

Where Evil Hides A Bridget Bishop FBI Mystery Thriller, Book Three is a well written actioned-packed winner! Melinda Woodhall is a talented writer who emotionally draws her reader into the world of crime solving. I love her character development where she exposes their strengths, likes and vulnerabilities. As a psychologist, Bridget Bishop is involve behavior analysis. No longer with the FBI BAU, she finds herself consulting on a case that involves her private practice.this is a fast paced book!

With her boss still trying to persuade Bridget to return full time to the team, this story finds that her private practice clients are also caught up in a local murder and as such, she becomes involved. Great book and this series is developing nicely as we see the main characters juxtaposition themselves with their private and professional lives. We also see Bridget becoming mentally stronger thus able to help her clients even more so. I look forward to the next one in the series.
Where Evil Hides by Melinda Woodhall is the third book in the Bridget Bishop FBI Mystery Thriller series. There’s a serial killer on the loose and FBI profiler and criminal psychologist Bridget Bishop is trying to find him before he kills again. Full of suspense, this book is a page turner that I couldn’t put down. Lots of twists and turns keep you guessing till the very end. I love Bridget and her coworkers and can’t wait to see what happens with them in the next book.
I think that I have read every book that Melinda Woodhall has written and thoroughly enjoyed all of them, this one is no exception. This is the third book in the Bridget Bishop FBI Mystery Thriller series and although it is a standalone I would urge reading the series in sequence to get the most enjoyment.
Bridget Bishop, a very successful criminal profiler, had left the FBIs Behavioural Analysis Unit for a reason, the nightmares from the sights that she had seen and the serial killers she had interviews were still there, her health had suffered, she was not going back despite the persuasive pleas from her ex boss Terrance Gage. Another serial killer was on the loose and the main suspect was the billionaire head of Montclair Biotech who also happened to be one of Bridget's clients at Wisteria Falls Forensic Psychology………..Bridget had no choice, but could she work with Gage's newest recruit Argus Murphy ? they had crossed swords before, they had totally different views on profiling, she was more for gut instinct but he was more data and numbers, Gage was sure that they would make a good team, Bridget wasn't sure.
As this story unfolds the gruesome murders escalate, all beautiful young women all with a common denominator, all the clues led to Monty Montclair…… except for Bridget's profile.
As with all Melinda Woodhall stories this one is full of intrigue, suspense and action, it is a roller coaster of twists, turns and red herrings, the suspects are many as are the surprises along the way. It was lovely to meet up again with FBI Special Agents Charlie Day and Tristram Hale and see what is happening with their attraction to each other despite Charlie fighting against it and of course the slow burning romance between Bridget and US Deputy Marshal Vic Santino, could Bridget compete with his dead wife ? I really look forward to the next book in the series.
I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
Where Evil Hides is the third book in the Bridget Bishop FBI Mystery Thriller series. This story begins with Bridget helping the court with a custody case and divorcing parents. While recapping her notes from the days appointments, Bridget receives a call from a detective and asks her to confirm the alibi of a suspect they have which happens to be the father in the custody case. A woman has been murdered and also is the mistress of the man in the same custody case. Everything suggests Monty is the suspect but he is also the CEO of a pharmaceutical company. Interestingly Monty's wife was witness to the murder. She escaped before the killer could get her and she went to the police to report it.
Meanwhile, the FBI is working the murder since it has found a similar pattern to two other unsolved murders. Bridget gets involved with the case because of Cassidy the couples daughter.
Because of the similarity of the previous cases and the connection with Monty, he is arrested but released with a monitoring device. Monty turns up missing and soon after Cassidy as well. Bridget and the FBI partners have to work the crime in order to bring everyone back to safety.
Bridget and her FBI partners are extremely likeable with their own problems that help keep them sympathetic but determined to do their job. The villains, however are not likeable at all. They didn't have any redeeming qualities at all. I didn't care whether they were found at all.
This was a another wonderful addition to the series. I really enjoy everything Melinda Woodhall writes. The books are quick easy reads that entertain with twists and turns until the end of the story.
I received an ARC from BookSirens for an unbiased review.
This book caught my attention from the moment I started reading the first page until the last page. I didn't want to put the book down because I wanted to find out what was going to happen between Bridget & Santino, and the other wonderful characters.
For those who haven't read one of Bridget Bishop's books, you will meet the same wonderful characters from the previous two books with Bridget, who has spent most of her life studying and trying to understand why a person becomes a serial killer, and Hank, her dog & trusty companion, along with some new characters introduced.
While the plot is rolled out, several relationship developments are occuring as you read about, Hale & Charlie and Gale & Russel. You'll want to keep track of these characters and relationships. At the same time don't take your eyes off the plot because you may think you have figured out how the plot is going to end. Surprise! What, not the way you thought?
I am presently pleased it happened, again! The book is unpredictable, realistic, informative, has twists and turns, lots of action, entertaining, easy to read and finally, Bridget & Santino romance has progressed. I can hardly wait for the next book!
I received a free copy of this book for an honest review. I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys FBI Mystery Thrillers, Women Sleuths, Police Procedures, Serial Killers, and Crime Fictions books. I look forward to reading the third book in the Series. This book is easy to read, a page-turner, and very entertaining so grab yourself a copy, find a quiet place to read, then have yourself a great read!

The story has Bridget helping the courtd on a custody case. While she is in her office updating her findings, she receives a call from a detective and asks her to confirm the alibi of a suspect they have. The individual who was killed is the mistress of the suspect who is currently in the process of being divorced. All signs point to the suspect, the CEO of a pharhacutical company. It seems that nthere was a witness to the nurder aand it so happened to be the suspect's wife.
Meanwhile, this murder, has come to the attention of the FBI because the M.O. is similar to that that of two other victims where the killer hasn't been found. Bridhet eventually gets pulled into the case working with the FBI. She hs been requested by her old boss at the BAU to assist a new analysis that has been brought onboard. This analyst and Bridget have previously worked on an earlier case.
Because of the similarity of the previous cases and the interaction that happened between the CEO and the victims, the CEO was arrested and charged with their murders. As the hunt for the last killing continued, the daughter of the CEO and the wife who is suing for device ran away. At the same time this occurred, the CEO was released on bail and eventually went into hiding. While searching for the missing CEO, both the CEO and wife wound up dead. They eventually received a lead from the CEO's son and began hunting for the CEO's yacht and daughter.
To learn who was responsible for the serial killings, why they happened and what happened once they arrived at the location the son gave, you must read this book.

Melinda Woodhall is the author of the new Veronica Lee Thriller series, as well as the page-turning Mercy Harbor Thriller series. In addition to writing romantic thrillers and police procedurals, Melinda also writes women’s contemporary fiction as M.M. Arvin.
“Time to give the devil his due.”
Bridget has been assigned a high-profile case of a wealthy couple divorcing and fighting for custody of their teenage daughter. The couple both want to win and are not holding back. When her case becomes intertwined with a murder investigation, the last thing Bridget expects is a partner. The twists keep coming, and if Bridget and the team aren’t careful- the tide will take them all out.
I enjoyed how so many of the characters were a focus in this book. We got to spend quite a bit of time seeing this through Charlie’s view, which was great.
I like how this story was told and how the pacing was controlled. I also enjoyed the story within a story, focusing on our team. We got glimpses into Gage, Tate, and Santino that we hadn’t seen before.
This was an intense ride, with motives and suspects everywhere. I loved the team aspect that involved figuring out what happened.
This series gets better with each new book, and I hope Charlie Day gets a spin-off because she is fantastic.
Bridget is enjoying just doing her regular job away from profiling for the FBI but some jobs, especially if you are good at it, will not let you leave them behind which is the case in Woodhall's 3rd installment for the Bridget Bishop series. Bridget is working on a report for the custody case of Cassidy Montclair. Her father, Monty Montclair, is a multibillionaire who owns a pharmaceutical company and Scarlet Montclair is his second wife. Unfortunately Bridget is fighting a lost cause with these 2 because the father is dealing with NPD (narcissistic personality disorder) and the mom has BPD (borderline personality disorder). Who would be the best parent for this child is the question Bridget is struggling with when Monty's mistress is found dead at the family's summer house. Now Bridget is brought in again as an expert profiler to help figure out if Monty was behind the woman's killing or someone else. I love how Woodhall has a way of showing how real life and work mix together or not at all. We get to see the characters interacting on personal and work related platforms in a real time atmosphere. The characters are very likeable and relatable to people you could interact with anywhere. These stories do continue on from the last installment (on social levels) and I do suggest you read them in order to follow the growing relationships with the main characters but you don't necessarily have to. I have been enjoying reading these stories and look forward to the next one. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Mystery and suspense combined with nuanced interpersonal relationships, and some romantic elements on the periphery of the plot, made Where Evil Hides an enthralling thriller.
Walking into the third book in the series without having read the first two books, it took me a few chapters to catch on to the connections between this cast of characters. This book can act as a stand-alone, it just may be a tad more confusing until you catch onto the dynamics between everyone. We also get multiple points of view, which I found engaging and conducive to a nice pace that had me not wanting to put the book down.
The namesake of the series, Bridget Bishop, was an enjoyable character. She listens to her gut instincts and has a big heart. I was hoping for a bit more in regards to her romance with the widowed Santino. There was some built in angst, but nothing was addressed in an outright manner. I am curious as to whether the romantic aspects of this thriller series have an overarching development over the entire series? I guess I will just have to read the entire series and find out for myself!
If you are a reader looking for a fast-paced thriller with a mid-sized cast of characters and some light romance, then this may be a book you would like to pick up and read.
4.5 ✨'s
I read and reviewed an advanced eARC of this book thanks to the author via BookSirens. All honest opinions are my own.
I am an ARC reader and this is my honest opinion. This the third in the Bridget Bishop series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It isn't necessary to read previous books but they're so good it's well worth it! I enjoy Melinda Woodhall's writing. She has the skill to describe just the right details to make a scene and characters easy to visualise. The crimes committed in the books, that the FBI investigate are violent and quite grisly at times so the books are not for the faint hearted. However, the characters are all interesting in their own ways - Bridget Bishop is resisting returning to work permanently at the BAU (Behavioural Analysis Unit) but the cases she works on in private practice, evaluating people for the legal system to help decisions to be made by a judge, overlap with FBI investigations into serial killers. Another behavioural analyst, who relies entirely on data and statistics, is bought in to work with Bridget - and neither are happy about it. I'm sure their relationship will develop in interesting ways in future books. There is burgeoning romance between Bridget and the handsome, enigmatic US Marshal - and a hint of a relationship to come between two FBI agents. The story in this book is an edge of the seat thriller and there are many twists and turns before the culprit (culprits?) is finally identified. Bridget 's dog, Hank is a lovable "extra" who helps make this book a great read.
This is another well-paced, suspenseful entry in the Bridget Bishop series.
Bridget, a forensic psychologist who used to work for the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, is consulting with the BAU on a murder case that is linked to two clients of her private practice who are getting divorced.
A recurring theme in this series is Bridget’s former boss at the BAU trying to get her to return as a regular employee. It would be nice for this to be resolved one way or another.
Many law enforcement characters from earlier books are back for this story, but it can be read as a standalone. A surprising detail about Special Agent Tristan Hale is revealed, and Bridget’s personal relationship with U.S. Deputy Marshal Vic Santino continues. Her professional life is somewhat disrupted when Argus Murphy is hired at the BAU. His and Bridget’s styles clashed when they worked together on an earlier case.
In the advance review copy (ARC) I received, a character from earlier in the story is mentioned in Chapter Forty: “She (Bridget) wasn’t sure why Monty had requested the visit …” By that point, Monty was no longer an active character. Hopefully this has been fixed.
I’m a fan of this series and hope there will be another entry.
I received an ARC for free from BookSirens and leave this review voluntarily.
I absolutely love Melinda Woodhall and I am an avid fan of her books. This is the third installment in The Bridget Bishop FBI series. This book as always pulled me completely back into Bridget’s world without missing a beat. In this installment Bridget is trying to navigate her private practice to distance herself from the stress and turmoil that working at the BAU has caused her in the past. But as usual her brilliant mind and tenacity brings her back to the forefront in a gripping case that revolves around serial murders in the area. As it happens Bridget had been hired by the state to evaluate parents embroiled in nasty divorce proceedings and an ugly custody battle. As the case evolves it becomes clear the cases intermingle as Bridget’s evaluation is disrupted when the wife witness’s a terrifying murder and the husband becomes the prime suspect.
Bridget finds herself again working with the BAU to find a killer before anyone else dies. Deeply well developed with fantastic character growth and development within this book. I love the series and it is filled with high stakes, twists and turns and a gripping storyline. This book ends with an excellent finale and sets the stage nicely for future books. I highly recommend this book and series!
This is the third book in the Bridget Bishop FBI Mystery Thriller series and it reads well as a standalone, although it’s worth reading previous books for context. Well written with a good plotline this is another gripping book in the series. Whilst it’s not technically a police procedural it does follow similar lines to one. Bridget is a former FBI profiler who left the service after a particularly nasty case. Now in private practice she is wanted back by her boss but is still resisting.
Briefly, when Scarlett Montclair witnesses a brutal slaying of her husband’s latest mistress Bridget is the alibi for Monty Montclair. When the killing is linked to other unsolved cases the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, Bridget’s former colleagues, are called in and Bridget is persuaded to help. But this isn’t the last murder and when Cassidy, the Montclair’s daughter goes missing everything ramps up.
With quite a number of suspects it’s hard to guess who the killer is, although I did get it partially right, or the motivation behind the killings. There are some excellent red herrings and great twists and turns with a couple of shocks at the end. A really good exciting read, great characters, great plot, what’s not to enjoy!
I have to be honest, I wasn't sure how I felt about the character of Argus when he was first introduced. He seemed standoffish and know-it-all, with little respect for anyone else's method of approaching a case. But I must admit, by the time I finished Where Evil Hides, I began to see his value. He and Bridget make a great team. They are actually two sides of the same coin. Argus is detail-oriented and only wants the facts. Bridget, on the other hand, wants to know the why and what emotion drives the people they are searching for. Like I said, a great team. As one would come to expect from Ms. Woodhall there is plenty of action, both physical, investigative, and psychological. One of my favorite things about her books is her use of interpersonal relationships with just a touch of romance. She is never heavy-handed with it and in no way graphic. I enjoy the relationships and the care each couple shows to their partner, but I don't want to be a voyeur in anyone's bedroom. Ms. Woodhall handles that very well.
I can't wait to see what is coming next. And if you haven't started this series I highly recommend that you do.
I received a review copy from the author via BookSirens and this is my honest opinion.
Every single time I read a book by Melinda Woodhall I give thanks to stumbling across her. I found her on Booksirens, I was intrigued by the blurb on book 2. Fortunately I was able to grab book 1 and read in order. That being said, each book can be read as a stand alone. You just know the characters as you see them grow in read. This provides the thrills, the suspense, the mystery and intrigue. It has it all as you rapidly turn the pages. I did have a suspicion of who it was. I was right and I was wrong! How about them apples. My hurt hurt when the little secret with Hale came out. Maybe because it hit close to home several times over. Kudos to our intrepid persistent forensic psychologist Bridgit. She is intelligent, thoughtful and caring too. I don't know that I would be able to deal with Agnus even as we see a little more rounded view of situation. Santino plays a little more roll this time and so does his family. A great twisty read with characters we care about. Thank you for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #whereevilhides #melindawoodhall #booksirens
We’re back for another Bridget Bishop read and I’m loving the ability to catch up with one book right after another.
I received an ARC from BookSirens and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
As Bridget would say, “When will I ever learn to say no?” She’s caught up in another serial killer case. Bridget keeps trying to turn her back on her former employers, the BAU w/ the FBI. I think what we all know or suspect (which seems like a given, so I’m not spoiling anything) is that she will never truly part with the BAU! That’s what I love about these books! Being a profiler is exactly what and who Bridget is, to her core. I also love Melinda’s characters and the fact that we’re seeing some character growth between them! It’s about time! ☺️
This latest book focuses mainly on family and how greed and selfishness can tear one apart. I thought it was a good storyline and the villains were believable, although I did call out one of them.
Yes I would continue to recommend this series and all of Melinda Woodhall’s books.
As always, my fellow Goodreader’s, Happy Reading and or Listening!📚🎧💜
You would think with an author this prolific that the quality of the work would diminish somewhat. This is definitely not the case and here we are with book 3 in this excellent new series featuring Bridget Bishop.
Ths time, Bridget is dragged into a case when she is the alibi for a private client who is arrested for murder. This brings her into another serial killer case, along with dodgy goings-on at a pharmaceutical company and an acrimonious divorce.
I love the flow of the writing. I always get caught up immediately and read these so quickly as I am invested in the characters. There is so much of a human element here and you just root for each character, especially Bridget and Vic, and Charlie and Hale. This is another winner from Melinda and I look forward to the next one.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This has become another fantastic series from the author, I'm loving it. Ms Woodhall has a writing gift, easy to read yet complex enough in substance to keep you guessing right to the end. And of course throw in a great mix of characters! The series focusses around the central character, Bridget Bishop, an ex FBI psychologies and profiler, who keeps getting drawn into cases that take her back to her old roots with the FBI. I like the way the author intersperses the mystery thread with a good dash of developing relationships - you feel as though you are immersed with friends and are invested in solving the crime with them, as an integral part of the team. I am very much looking forward to what comes next in this series. Thank you to BookSirens for an advanced reader copy, which I voluntarily reviewd.
Book Sirens eARC. This third entry in the series is as engaging as the first two, not becoming stale as sometimes happens with ongoing series. Bridget has left the BAU unit of the FBI focusing on building her private counseling practice. However she becomes embroiled in the Devil's Blade case when two of clients become witnesses and possible suspects. Monty and Scarlett Montclair are embroiled in a bitter divorce and Bridget has been doing family counseling to aid the courts determine custody of their teen aged daughter Cassidy. When the ""other woman" is murdered and Cassidy disappears under suspicious circumstances the plot thickens and intensifies. The developing relationship between the returning cast of characters draws the reader in as we learn more about them. Woodhall is an author who can be relied on for tight plotting and a solid crime thriller.
