During the busy festive period, the head of a terrorist cell is found dead outside his apartment in the early hours of Christmas Eve, his body still warm.
Jake Tanner and the Counter Terrorism Command team are called in to investigate.
Why was he there? Who killed him? And what does the note in his sock have to do with his death?
The answers are as unsettling as they are surprising.
I’m Jack Probyn, and I write murder mysteries and crime thrillers set in England. I studied Creative Writing at the University of Surrey and have always been fascinated by storytelling, particularly the dark and twisty kind.
I’m the author of the DC Jake Tanner series and the DS Tomek Bowen series, both packed with suspense, mystery, and unexpected twists. When I’m not writing, I enjoy building LEGO, solving sudoku puzzles, and occasionally going snowboarding. I live in England with my partner and our British Shorthair cat, Tommy.
Christmas in July and this time it’s an investigation into the dead body of a terrorist is found on Christmas Eve and it’s down to Jake and the team to find the answers. Secrets discovered and there’s a few surprises and twists along the way and this fast paced and action packed novella is a fantastic and thrilling read!
You need your 'ears on' for this one! I had to reread many passages to make sure I had absorbed what was going on. A complicated and dangerous plan with an ending you won't predict. I can't say this is my favorite 'Probyn' novella. I tend to like to a read more action style. That said, the events care still replaying in my mind....
Another very enjoyable Jake Tanner story in which Jake leaves nothing to chance when he gets a bee in his bonnet....called intuition. Jake notices things that others don't see or don't want to act on. I am an ARC member and very grateful.
A terrorist is found dead with a bomb strapped to his body. A note in Arabic was found on him that was translated and found the site and time of an attack. A page turning thriller with a mole in the police department.
Life is never dull for Jake Tanner. A murder on Christmas Eve has Jake and the team searching for reasons why. An action packed novella that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. ..recommend. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
The second in a series of 9 novellas featuring DC Jake Tanner’s time in SO15 Counter terrorism unit. Jake has to investigate a terrorist cell which may include a bent cop. Fast moving - complex plot - you need to concentrate on the book more than normal - but a great read.
Jake and his team are called in to investigate a dead terrorist. How and why did this happen. Full of intrigue and suspense to keep you drawn in to this well written book.
