A swoony small town holiday romance from USA Today Bestselling Author J.H. Croix!
✔️ Two broken hearts ✔️ One holiday week ✔️ Swoony second chance ✔️ Holiday hotness ✔️ Small town shenanigans
The forbidden bad boy. The rich good girl. High school sweethearts.
The last person I expect to see when my car breaks down is Joe Martinelli. I broke my own heart when I moved away after high school. Joe is my first and only love, and my father refused to let us see each other.
That was all before my father blew our family up and landed in jail for fraud. I meant to escape to Maine for the week before Christmas, except it turns out my brother is holed up at the house with my friend. I have a broken down car and nowhere to go.
Of course, it’s also snowing so heavily I can only see a few feet in front of me. When Joe offers to let me stay at his place, it seems like the smart plan. It has nothing to do with how hot he is, absolutely nothing to do with how much I missed him, and definitely nothing to do with my latest bad luck in romance.
One night turns into two, one kiss turns into three and even more.
Joe & Thea’s story is perfect for readers who love: swoony second chances, broken hearts mended, small town gossip, emotional romance with a dash of angst, plenty of swoon and all the feels, and a protective hero who’ll do anything to win back the only girl he ever loved.

All We Are is a second chance story wrapped up with fate and tied with a Christmas Magic bow, soI finished it in one sitting & was left with a filled up heart. Joe & Thea were high school sweethearts but since she was the wealthy good girl, and he wasn't of that world, well, her father forced her to stop seeing him. That was very ironic since he now is in jail for fraud, but karma is a b*t*h. Thea is trying to get a break & spend time in Maine right before Christmas, but when her car breaks down, Joe, and she stays with him since her brother is holed up in the house with her friend. The close proximity makes it very clear that they never lost what they had so the sparks are flying, but there's also a big emotional component that hit me hard in the feels. Every last bit of this story was certainly fantastic, and it's perfect for this time of year so don't pass it up! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Saved the best for last, Joe and Thea’s story. They have a history, a love story torn apart by Thea’s father, and we all know his story by now. Thea needs some alone time and it is off to the house in Haven’s Bay. But her brother is there, in an attempt to leave, the snow wins. Joe is on call that night and comes to her rescue with a tow.
After the time has passed the chemistry is still there. Is it finally their time? But things have happened in their time apart, neither is the same person, he now has a son he co-parents and she has a career in the city.
I loved this holiday series and Haven’s Bay; this reader would eagerly read another visit to this town.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Thea needs to distance herself from reason that her last relationship ended so she heads to her hometown. The last person she expected to see was Joe, the boy she gave her heart to until her father tore them apart. The feelings between them haven’t diminished over time but is it enough to overcome their different lifestyles?
Joe is trying to balance being a single father to his six-year-old son Joey and his business. When he reunites with Thea the love between them is stronger than ever and now they just have to overcome all the other challenges that life brings.
Thea and Joe have always belonged together, and I enjoyed seeing them find their way back to each other as they dealt with all the changes that happened while they were apart
Oh my! Thea and Joe are wonderful together, even though it took years for them to get back what they had in high school. All We Are brings to full circle, the HEA romance of the last Tate sibling of Haven’s Bay. This final book in the holiday series is full of life-altering emotions. As always, JH Croix handles some sensitive issues very delicately, but also realistically. I absolutely LOVED this book and look forward to the possibility that we’ll hear more about Haven’s Bay in the future.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
With readers caught up in holiday preparations, here comes a book that pushes all of their emotional buttons, bringing together joy and bits of steam in a story full of warmth and holiday cheer. The teenage love between Thea and Joe brought together two people from opposite sides of the tracks...at least that's how her father saw Joe...before he saw to the end of their burgeoning romance. It was a devastating break-up that's never been forgotten by either of them and when fate steps in to help them cross paths one snowy night these two will make the most of their second chance.
Thea Tate's the youngest of the Tate siblings, someone who loved and lost (courtesy of outside forces), which has left her teeming with cynicism regarding matters of the heart. Through the previous books in this series she's been fundamental in helping her brothers find love and now it feels like it's her turn to find a HEA. From the moment Joe Martinelli comes to Thea's rescue the sparks reignite, along with hard-truths and painful realities, that these two work through quickly in a true test of their second chance. Theirs was an emotionally engaging journey, one that brought on a few tears while warming my heart as their time together saw them form a family.
Through it all, Thea's a likable heroine with a big heart. Life's not been kind to her as medical issues have taken away some of her life choices, but being with Joe again brings out strong motherly instincts in her that had me cheering her on as she bonded with his son Joey. Joe too is a delicious hero, a loving single dad who's never loved another woman but Thea. From the moment he offers her a place to stay it's clear that he's her knight in shining armor in a romance always meant to be. As these two grow closer, readers are introduced to Joe's son Joey, an endearing little boy going through issues of his own that puts Thea and Joe's commitment to the test. The small town of Haven's Bay is a charming locale, one beautifully depicted by the author to immerse you wholeheartedly into this angsty story. With each turn of the page readers grow closer to this couple, cheering them on as they finally make choices THEY want to make in a heartwarming story that's perfect for the holidays. Though the ending of this book is wrapped up in a satisfyingly realistic bow, I'm left hoping we see this couple again as this family has brought a lot of joy to reader's lives and I'm not ready to let go of them just yet.
It's finally time for Thea Tate to get her happily ever after. All We Are is the 4th book in the Haven's Bay Holiday series by J.H. Croix and while it can certainly be enjoyed as a stand alone, I personally think that it is best when read in order with the rest of the series.
This book does include a storyline with a cancer survivor, infertility and substance abuse/rehab- so just be aware if these are topics that you are sensitive to.
I've been waiting for Thea's book- especially after each of her 3 brothers had fallen for one of Thea's friends when they returned to Haven's Bay. Thea's book kind of overlaps time wise with Ian and Jane's (Book 3- All We Have). In fact, her not wanting to get in the way of them possibly getting together is what landed her back in the arms of her off-limits high school boyfriend, Joe- reigniting the flame of all that could have been between them.
Thea had always interested me- she was the youngest of the Tate siblings and eager to help her brothers settle down but she also had this cynicism toward relationships for herself. Finally learning the reasons why broke my heart a little for her. I love her reconnection with Joe- not only is he super sweet and reassuring for her worries- but these two had some fabulous chemistry and they did not skip a beat in testing it out. I just genuinely liked Joe's character- he's a kind boss, a caring friend, son and neighbor and I loved his love and concern in raising his son, Joey, while navigating the co-parenting world with someone he really didn't know all that well.
I will admit that I never saw the storyline between these two coming. They fell back into their relationship rather easily despite the distance between Haven's Bay and Boston but their story had a much more emotional and heart tugging thread than I was expecting. All We Are is a shorter story- not quite a novella but also on the shorter side for a full novel, so the storyline moves along pretty quickly and there was a moment or two that the shift felt a bit abrupt to me. Personally, I would have loved another few chapters because I loved these two together and I'd love to continue their HEA!
I've taken a few months to start reading from this author again, and once I restarted it, oh boy… It was one book after the other. JH Croix has this unique writing that will hook you up in a sec and you won't be able to stop. Her writing is not only sweet and hot but also heartfelt and intense. Just give her a chance and you'll see… All We Are is her latest release and it's the fourth book from the Haven's Bay series… And what series this was. I advise you to read it from the beginning. This new book explores the lives of Joe and Thea. This two were sweethearts. A love so intense they thought it would last forever until it didn't. Thea was almost obligated to end her relationship with Joe because daddy dearest forbade it… Do, she just left without looking back, breaking her and Joe's hearts in the process. Now, years later, after a scandal, she sees herself back in her hometown, stuck in her car, with snow all around her. And who appears to rescue her… This story just warmed my heart. These two were made for each other and no one can break that bond. Not even time. Spectacular plot, well written, super engaging, and sweet as well as hot… Yep… Hot… These two shared great chemistry and you can feel it. Despite all the suffering, it's amazing when you can overcome it and find your soulmate again. I loved every single chapter and once I started to read it, guys, it was impossible to stop. One minute I was starting it and the next… Bamm, it was over. It was awesome to have glimpses of the other characters from the previous books. I'm sad that this was the last book from this series because I wanted more. Yep. Greedy girl right here. JH, you nailed it once again girl. What a fantastic book this was. What's next? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
It's finally Thea's time to get her own happy ending after all of her brothers matched up with her old friends. I thought Thea's story is going to be second chance romance while I was reading "All We Have" and I was right. Thea and Joe was high school sweethearts but Thea broke up with him because of her father. Life went on and Thea came back to visit her family's house on occasions. But this time when she visits her house, she finds out that her brother and her friend are still there and she doesn't want to intrude. When Joe finds out that Thea needs a place to stay, he offers her to stay at his house. They still have feelings for each other so Thea asks Joe for one night but Joe has his plan. The story is very swooning because Joe wants forever but also a little bit angsty because Joe is a single dad with a son and while his son seems to be smitten with Thea at first, they still have a few problems to solve. I like Thea. She may hesitate about their relationship but when she finally makes her decision, she goes all in and she has the best interest when it comes to Joe's son.
This book is well written and I feel heartwarming after I finished reading it. Second chance is my most favorite romance tropes and J.H. Croix is still one of authors who can write the best small town romance.
Another good love story about a second chance. I enjoy reading books with high school couples having a second chance years later; they remind me that I got a second chance with my high school sweetheart.
This story is about Thea and Joe. Thea was forced to break-up with Joe in high school because her dad did not approve of him or his family. She has spent the last couple of years watching her brothers fall in love. But she has become cynical about finding love for herself. The last couple of guys were not honest with her or faithful.
When she decides to take a vacation to her family home, she is hoping for some alone time but finds that her final brother is there along with one of her friends who she knows is a good match for him. She decides she will just stay somewhere else until a dog runs in front of her car on the snowy night.
Needless to say she ends up stranding on the side of the road and the tow truck that shows up just happens to have her high school boyfriend inside. He insists that she stay with him for the night since the weather is bad and she refuses to go to her family home.
This is just the start of their sweet story of rekindled love and the hardship of navigating a relationship with a child involved.
Thea broke up with her cheater boyfriend and came back to her home town to lick her wound before Christmas. She didn’t expect her brother and one of her best friends Jane hooked up in their family home. She didn’t want to explain to them why she was there. So she drove away. When her car ran off the road to avoid a dog in the snow, her high school ex-boyfriend Joe came to her rescue riding a tow truck. They broke up in high school because Thea’s father forbid them to see each other. They were both heartbroken back then. Now they find each other again. Fate gives them a second chance. But now they have different challenges. They live in different city, Joe has a son, and Thea can’t have children. They have to trust and help each other to hold on to their love. This story places a lot of focus on Joe’s son’s psyche and how they try everything to make the child understand their relationship. It is a little let down for me. I was expecting to see more development in the relationship between Thea and Joe. I love Joe’s sensitivity and steady fast love for Thea, no matter what Thea’s doubts are.
All We Are is Book #4 in the Haven’s Bay Holiday Series and probably my favourite. Up to now we have paired off all of Thea’s High School girlfriends with her brothers, so this time it’s Thea’s turn! After a soul destroying encounter with a recent ex, Thea heads to Haven Bay to lick her wounds only problem is Ian & Jane are at the house and she’s reluctant to disturb them. Heading into town she swerves to miss a dog on the snow covered road and puts the car into a ditch. On call to save is Joe, the high school sweetheart her father forbade her to see. This second chance romance gets hot and heavy early in the story, but the feelings of betrayal and love lost from all those years ago for both of them and mistrust from his family are issues that need to be dealt with. Added to that is Joe’s young son Joey and the extra complications that brings to their rekindled relationship. His adds depth and complexity to the story as they work through these issues to strive for a future together. Ms Croix has crafted a well written story with lots of emotion, a little bit of angst and plenty of steam.
Thea has traveled to Haven's Bay to stay at the family home but turns around when she sees her brother and one of her friends are already there. Thea ends up needing a tow truck and is surprised when her high school sweetheart shows up. Joe offers Thea a place to stay with him when he learns she cannot stay at the Tate family home. Thea's feelings towards Joe resurface as she spends time with Joe. Joe refuses to let Thea get away from him a second time. Thea is surprised to learn Joe has a son who was conceived in a one night stand. When Joe walk away like Thea thinks he will when she tells him her most painful secret? Can Joe and Thea make their relationship work with her living in Boston and Joe in Haven's Bay? Can Joe and Thea stand strong when Joe's son starts acting out? Can Joe and Thea finally find their happily ever after? I loved Joe and Thea! They were torn apart by Thea's father and find each other again years later. I would highly recommend getting All We Are and the other books in the Haven's Bay Holiday series by J H Croix. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Love this book. Great second chance, single dad romance. Thea and Joe were high school sweethearts until her dad said they couldn't date anymore. It broke both their hearts. Now many years later with her dad in prison, Joe is the tow truck driver that shows up when she ends up in the ditch. She was going to the family home but her brother and one of her friends are staying there. So now besides being in the ditch, she has nowhere to stay and no way to get anywhere. Joe offers to let her stay at his place. They catch up and she tells Joe why part of the reason she was coming to the family home without telling anyone in heavy snow. They realize that they never stopped loving each other but have to take it slow because of his son who he has part-time. When he gets his son full-time for three months while his mom is dealing with some medical issues, his son suddenly starts to have an attitude problem with Thea being there. Will their relationship weather this storm? Why is Joey acting out all of a sudden? How does Joe react to Thea telling him she can't have kids and why?
4 star Review All We Are (Haven’s Bay #4) by J H Croix
All We Are was an entertaining read that ticked a number of boxes for me. It was well written with characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in.
I enjoyed single dad Joe and Thea’s second chance at love story. Having been together when they were in high school they were torn apart by circumstances. Ow they have a chance to re kindle the love and passion they once shared. When Thea’s car breaks down, Joe is they last person who she expects to stop and help and when he offers her a place to stay she finds herself agreeing.
All We Are had some angst, romance and miss-understanding that had me shaking my head at times. I love the sound of Haven Harbor, Maine and could easily visualize it whilst reading. As they both realize that the love they once shared still burns bright complications will arise as Joe’s son struggles with their new found love.
Will they take another chance at love or will fear hold them back?
Oh what a feeling to be back in Havens Bay and amongst old friends and family ❣️
Thea is heading to Haven’s Bay to heal and just recoup but then she serves out for a dog , bless her heart ❤️ and ends up on a ditch 🙈thank goodness she’s unharmed but her car needs a little care and the Knight in shining armour that comes to her aid is none other than Joe , her high school sweetheart that her dad forbid her to see !
With nowhere to go Joe offers his home but we all know it’s because despite the years that past they’re still sweet on each other 😉🥰
Joe and Thea deserve the HEA and despite their hurdles they get there ❣️ Joey is just the sweetest little boy and while he gave Thea a hard time for a hit I felt for his little 6 year old heart and it aches for Thea for reasons you’ll understand if you read this , if I tell you it could be classed as a spoiler 🙊
The ending frustrated me a little but not in a bad way if that makes sense I just had a few unanswered questions but I’m sure with a little patience I’ll be rewarded ❣️😉
Thea and Joe were high school sweethearts but weren't allowed to date by Thea's father since Joe's family wasn't as rich as theirs. Now Thea comes back to Haven's Bay to get away from Boston for a while. She sees that the family vacation home is occupied so she continues driving in the storm. She ends up needing a tow truck and Joe is the one who shows up. There are still sparks between them. Joe is a single father trying to co-parent with his son's mother who he only had a one night stand. There isn't any place for Thea to stay so Joe offers his home. They start to get close again and get over the misunderstandings that happened because of her father. I liked how Thea and Joe tried to keep his son involved even when he started acting out. Now they have their current problems to work through but they try to work through them. I enjoyed this series. I received an early copy to read and review and I'm leaving my honest review.
I love small town romances, add in a second chance at love and I knew I just had to read this book. Thea’s story appears to be the last in this series and all the previous books are nothing short of amazing. Right from the start I was rooting for Thea and Joe to make it work this time around. Admittedly their first shot was when they were in high school, but I just loved that Joe was quite open about Thea being the only woman he has ever loved. Their relationship doesn’t have any major conflict, but to say it is smooth sailing would be an outright lie. There is a part that is about Thea that I was hoping would have a miraculous turnaround, but sadly this did not happen. As much as that upset me, in all honesty this just made the whole story more realistic to me. Needless to say, I felt like I experienced every emotion reading this book, and I enjoyed every moment of it. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book
I just love second-chance romances and add in the sexy single dad and you have a winner. J.H. Croix has just that with All We Are and it is a must-read. Being ghosted by your boyfriend after sharing with him some delicate information is exactly what Thea had to endure. Deciding that it was time to go home for the holidays, little did she know that her holidays would end up having her spending time with her high school sweetheart, Joe, that she had to leave. Could this be a second chance for them? Will Joe having a son be something that Thea will be able to deal with? What happens when she shares with him some very personal information?
This book was full of heartache but at the same time happiness and true love. Thea and Joe had such a strong bond before that even over time the love that they once shared was still there. Their story is one of hope and finding that one true love. I highly recommend adding All We Are to your TBR list.
If you love single parent romances look no further than single dad Joe and Thea’s second chance romance in All We Are ( Haven’s Bay Holiday Series). This book has done for everyone and in my opinion it will appeal to all romance lovers. Joe and Thea were high school sweethearts but it wasn’t their time and they were both destroyed by circumstances beyond their control. When Thea’s car breaks down when she is returning to Haven Harbor the last person she expects to see is Joe and when he offers to help with a place to stay she jumps at the chance. So could the timing be right now ……guess you need to one click to find that out. I love my visits to this small town, I adore the characters and J.H. Croix always keeps me captivated with her entertaining and well written journeys. I feel like I personally know Haven Harbor abd irs residents but what made this a special read was the perfect mix of love, passion and drama as a family of two look to become me three.
This is book four in The Haven Bay Holiday Romance series and it is Joe and Thea's story and it is definitely a must read. Joe and Thea have history as they had been so in love with each other in high school only for Thea's father to tear them apart breaking both of there heart's. Thea is driving along only for her car to break down in a storm and it is Joe that comes to her rescue. Joe and Thea still love each other and there chemistry is just as strong as ever but with everything that they had both been through will this be there second chance to connect and eventually get the happy ending that they both deserve after so many year's apart. Even though I have loved every single book in this series I have to say that this one was definitely my favourite and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see what the outcome would be for them and how there story unfolds. I definitely recommend you read this book and series and you will not be disappointed.
I am not the one listing second-chance romance as my favorite, but if J.H. Croix writes them we're talking about really good reading! Joe and Thea have known each other since kindergarten and were going steady for a year in high school when her father demanded she put an end to it. Broke both their hearts. But one snowy night the week before Christmas twelve years later, Thea returns to Haven's Bay from the Boston law firm for a week's vacation to be alone. But when Joe is the one in the tow truck getting her car out of the ditch, she winds up staying in the new home he built on the lot next to her family's historic old three-story home. A couple of months later, he is proposing marriage on the beach below the cliffs of their homes, where he'd carved their names as teenagers! I feel like there is one more story left of Thea and her three girlfriends who are paired with her older brothers. These four stories are a shade short of a perfect ending.
"I love small town romances, add in a second chance at love and I knew I just had to read this book. All We Are by has some of my favorite things in it - dual POV, a funny little kid, and a second chance at love.
One of my favorite things about this book was little Joey, especially when he's telling his dad how to be a good boyfriend. I legit chuckled reading the scene at the pizza play place. I also loved how Joe (the dad) repeatedly talks about going to therapy. There is such a stigma around men seeking out professional help, so I loved that the author threw this in throughout the book.
While there were things I definitely liked about this book, there were some things that I didn't like as much. One, the wording in some of the 🌶🌶 scenes was just not my cup of tea. And that's totally a personal preference, so I definitely suggest giving this book a chance!
While this is technically part of series, it's written as a standalone romance. I read it in less than three hours, so it definitely held my attention!
Having read the two previous installments in this series i've been looking forward to more! I picked up this fourth installment and headed right back into the Haven's Bay Holiday world! I really liked it!
Thea heads to her family's home in Maine to get away, but things don't according to plan. Certain things happen that lead her face to face with the man her heart never forgot, Joe. Will these go their separate ways? Or will they fight for what's always been between them?
I enjoyed the way Thea and Joe were brought back into each other's lives. From the heartwarming moments to the more blushworthy of ones, Both of them had me feeling many things throughout. I liked the realness to their story and what Joey brought to it. I just struggled a bit at certain points.
With All We Are, Ms.Croix has created a good read that will get your attention!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the author*
JH delivers another great story in the Haven’s Bay Holiday series. This is a great series that’s filled with small town, best friends brother, and snowed in romance. This book has some of my favorite tropes - single dad and second chance romance.
Thea is trying to move on from a surprise breakup and wants to get away. She needs help once she arrives in town and the local car garage owner shows up….it’s a blast from her past, Joe.
The two know each other from high school, had a relationship, tough breakup along with some misunderstandings that led them to not talking for quite some time.
However, they wasted no time getting reacquainted and the sparks flew. They had to figure out how to communicate and were faced a few bumps along the way. But in the end it’s a beautiful holiday love story.
I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.
Oh Thea. I've been waiting for her story since she practically set up her other two brothers with the loves of their lives, and I was not disappointed to see her reconnect with Joe. These two hit it off pretty fast, busy considering they have known each other their whole lives, I'm not surprised in the slightest.
I love how real this book gets. It goes into a lot of heavy subjects that people deal with in a daily basis. And Thea and Joe don't always get it right the first time they talk about it, which is also refreshing. These things take time and seeing that happen over and over really made it realistic.
I'm so glad I got the chance to read this novel, and this series! I really loved getting to know these siblings!
A brilliant single dad second chance romance in the Haven's Bay Holiday Series and I was excited for Thea to get her HEA and for it to be with Joe, her high school sweetheart, was just perfect., but All We are is also a moving story, and I for one had my tissue out a time or two.
This is a story of a couple who as teenagers were very much in love until Thea's dad stepped in, Joe has never gotten over Thea but is still hurt that she let her dad end their relationship, now a dad himself, sharing custardy his life is busy but when he rescues Thea from the snow on one of her rare visits back to town he knows that he still loves her, Thea never got over Joe but, life has not been easy for her and, she has secrets of her own that she wonders how Joe will feel when they are revealed, this is a wonderful heartwarming story.
All we are starts as a Christmas novel, but it goes over a longer period during the book. It’s a second chance romance between Thea and Joe. Thea and Joe were highschool sweethearts, but Thea’s father didn’t approve of Joe. So Thea broke things off, ending up breaking her own heart too. Now, several years later, Thea goes back to her hometown to get back on her feet after her last relationship. When she runs her car of the street, Joe comes to the rescue. And they reconnect… But can they just pick up where they left of? Or do they both have history that could change everything.
I really liked this story, although sometimes it was a little fast paced. But to get to where they are at the end, somethings had to go fast. I love how they easily reconnected and just went with the flow to see how things would turn out.
What a wonderful holiday read. This is the fourth book of the series and I consider it to be the best. Thea and Joe were sweethearts in high school but her father made them breakup because he considered Joe’s family beneath his standards.
Thea needed to get away from Boston and drove up to the family house in Haven Bay and found her brother and best friend there. She didn’t want to interfere so she was going to find a place to stay in the next town. While continuing to drive through the snow, a dog ran out in front of her car and she went into a ditch. She called to get her car towed out of the ditch and Joe was the tow truck driver on duty that night. Will they be able to rekindle their relationship? You need to read this excellent book and find out.
