Dante Braylon is a highly trained sniper, one of the Army’s best. He wakes up in a psychiatric ward, drugged and confused. As months pass him by in his drugged state, the world outside the VA hospital begins to crumble with the mysterious virus, ERV-Fc-001. His forced admittance to the hospital is suspect, his doctor uncooperative. As Dante tries to figure out who put him in the hospital, his fellow sniper and best friend, Omar, might just have the answers he needs. The two begin a long perilous journey with a Lucy, woman who believes she is an archangel and Violet, the nurse who helped Dante through his long incarceration at the hospital. The search for answers to his involuntary confinement is tempered by the extinction level virus. His world has changed and he must adapt. He will have his questions answered.
Ancient Death by S.A. Ison is a shocking tale of a U.S. sniper who is swept away from relaxing at the beach and finds himself in a VA hospital psychiatric ward. Dante would be in a hell of a lot more trouble if it wasn't for Violet his nurse at the hospital when a virus is unleashed on the world leaving the infected walking dead. The two band together to head to Violet's uncle's home with Dante's friend and fellow sniper Omar.
Genevieve and Litzy battle the hardships of the zombie apocalypse only to face deranged thugs and religious fanatics trying to get to her uncle Dean's farm in Missouri.
All this is brought on by a group of chosen extremely rich self-entitled-rich pricks that believe wiping out 99.9% of the population by releasing a 500,000-year-old virus found in Russia, an EPM released over numerous cities worldwide would cause society to turn on itself killing each other over the scare of becoming infected.
In planning the fall of society worldwide for seventeen years with death and destruction part of their plan ever just short of burning the world down to ashes to turn around global warming and overpopulation. Of course, part of their plan was to ensure they had all the supplies and a safe place to ride out the death and chaos they unleashed on the planet. Oh, and let's not forget their hired staff to make sure they were waited on hand and foot and every need taken care of.
This fast paced tell is well written, action-packed, and thrilling throughout. The characters are clearly someone you can easily relate to and you'll find yourself rooting for Dante, Violet, Omar, Genevieve, and Litzy to reach a safe place to weather out the end of the world as we know it.
I really enjoyed this book and hope you too will find yourself enjoying it.
Quotes:
"I surprised the cashier didn't have his phone out filming it to post. That's how most assholes do these days. They stand by and watch bad shit happen, film it, like they're producing a juicy move."
The author is a mighty fine story teller. And that is about the highest praise I know. She tells a story of a PAW without being bogged down by Mutant Zombie Bikers, or becoming too wrapped up in politics. Without spoilers, Lucy make the book. But I loved the tale, and good people moving forward to do what needs to be done.
