Alpha born, I was meant to rule ... But Fate has other plans for me.

Heir to the Shadow Walker pack, and my father's only child -- I was born to lead -- or so I thought.

I've spent my whole life preparing for a future I thought was certain. For a mate I believed was mine.

The Mating Games are coming up in just a few days, and this time I'm old enough to join.

To finally be fated to my forever mate, Felix.

When the eligible sons and daughters of the other packs arrive to join the games, I soon find out that Fate has other plans in store for me.

Plans that could ruin my future.

Plans that threaten the fragile alliances between our packs.

Plans that involve them . . .

Avery, Felix's younger twin.

Liam, a hardened leader.

And Ryuk, the psycho playboy.

The Alpha sons.

"Alpha Forsaken" is the first book in the Fated to the Alphas series. This is a dark upper YA/NA fated mate and rejected mate wolf shifter romance with multiple love interests. Think arena-style survival games meets Werewolf mating season.

CW: This series has darker themes and includes some adult scenes (slow burn) and violence, please read at your own discretion.

Painful to read

This book was very obviously missing an editor, given that the misused homophones and flat out wrong words started from chapter one. There was no real world building, it was so poor that I went hunting to make sure this wasn't a spinoff since the author assumed that the reader would know all about how werewolves function. Verity was a caricature of a Mary Sue and I wanted to smack her senseless the entire time. The only relationship building took place before the book, so I really had no reason to emotionally invest in any of the characters. I don't feel the need to read anything else by this author, honestly.

Annoying

Verity is clueless. She honestly thinks Natalija is her friend? I know the point is that she is sheltered but she is also supposed to be an Alpha’s daughter so she should not be completely and utterly oblivious to social cues. And the snide comments weren’t subtle. So it makes no sense. So much made no sense. Like how did Ryuk really notice Verity hadn’t had anything to eat or drink in days? He had her! And no one thought the Alpha Daughter who was covered completely from head to toe should be checked for tattoos at the end of the games? But no one bothered. So much of the horrible ending could have been avoided if they had. Maybe the next part of the story would have been set up better. As it stands it has the makings to be extremely disappointing.

DNF. I just couldn't get into the book, the FMC was too insecure and whiny for a 24 yr old alpha.

needs proofreading

Needs proofreading/editing. You have a lot of comma splices and word choice changes that need to be fixed. Also, the book was pretty slow to start.

☾⋆⁺₊🎧✩°。 0:58 ──♡───── 1:47 ☾⋆⁺₊🎧✩°。

🎶 Ooh, didn't it all seem new and exciting? I felt your arms twistin' around me. I should have slept with one eye open at night 🎶

Verity doesn't find her mate and instead spends almost 3 days as a captive of an alpha she despises and her world is crumbling as Felix was the one she was destined to be with. Now, he’s gone and she feels like she let her father down. But maybe, he wasn’t the one for her.

─── ・ 。゚☆: THOUGHTS*.☽ .*:☆゚. ───

OKAY. I RARELY give books a one-star, and this means it was BAD. Giving a book two stars usually means it wasn’t good but still enough to finish it, and the romance was a bit convincing. No, each person in this book was terrible, except for maybe one person, but that wasn’t enough to make me give it a higher rating. If I could go back and never pick this book up, I would do that. There was nothing GOOD or interesting about this. It made zero sense. The dialogue was bad; she had no common sense, and I am having difficulty believing that she is the Alpha’s daughter because she sure does not act like it and is a doormat. Sometimes, FMCs need to do better, and she is at the top of the list.

“It’s good to see you, Verity,” Felix says, his voice soft and his lopsided grin sending my heart fluttering once again.”

Felix is supposed to be her mate, and each person knows that it's always been THEM. They were destined as the two alphas, but he is so bland. He was boring, and this man had nothing going on for him. Keep in mind she was drowning and didn’t even realize it and was probably going to let her die if one of the other guys hadn’t shown up. He is not a good MMC. Kick him out of the harem; well. Someone else got rid of him, so-.

“Ladies,” comes Ryuk’s low purr, “what a pleasant surprise finding you out here … and all alone?”

“What are you doing here?” I ask, my voice shaking ever so slightly with nerves.”

HE IS A CREEP. I know what the author was attempting to do with his character but it did not come off right. He would lurk in the halls, follow her around, and try to force her into mating with him and basically terrorize her the entire night. In what world is this man also her mate. NO.
“I won’t force you to remain by my side, little one,” he says with a sigh, glancing out over the treetops. “I simply hoped to help you out of that spot of trouble you found yourself in. I wouldn’t wish him on anyone.”

He is OLDER, he wants her and he calls her little one. The age gap wouldn’t have been an issue, but the little one IS. Considering he is constantly reminding me of the age difference that he is so clearly aware of, but he still wants her. I’m telling you all the men sucked, Liam included.

“Avery?” I gasp, my heart skipping a beat in my chest.”

“Care to come out?” he asks, holding out a hand in offering. “You’re safe, now.”

AVERY. I only liked him. He is Felix’s younger twin and already a better candidate than the other three. While she never noticed him because it was always Felix for her, the one time they interacted made her see him differently. He is very sweet and protective and doesn’t pressure her into anything, the bare minimum, but that’s where the bar is between these guys. Plus, he reads romance books? It’s like the author wanted me to love him more than the rest. This book shouldn’t be a harem.

─── ・ 。゚☆: OVERALL *.☽ .*:☆゚. ───

Avery is the reason why I gave it one star; he had a few scenes and his impact. Verity just listened to her best friend, who was clearly out to get her, but she was so oblivious, and now she stole her man and is on the run. If she had noticed the signs there the entire time, events would be different. I don’t like clueless FMCs.

This book was a little slow to start but I am glad that I stuck it out and continued to read it. I like the premise of this series so far and I can't wait to see what happens. The cliffhanger was done well I feel and I am glad that it wasn't just glossed over.

There were some grammar issues for sure and the real story didn’t start till like 55-70ish percent. Before the mating games that occurred at 60% there was a huge build up towards it but once it finally came there wasn’t a lot of context and there were a bunch of time skips.

There were gaps in the story line but maybe they’ll be reviled later on. We never found out what happened to Luke. (Kind of random but I wanted to know 😅)

The fmc often whined a lot and stated the same things over and over for example during the mating games I have to find Felix was repeated back to back it was really redundant

The ending had me gagged and a bit confused. Felix and Natalija was something I didn’t see coming at all!! Honestly how did Natalija convince Felix that they were mates when he was so enraptured by Verity. Even so why would he engage in anything with her best friend when he was so hung up on her. If he was into Verity as much as Ryuk was and even more so he would’ve had some doubts or self restraint. I am aware that Ryuk did engage with other women, but it came to a point where he couldn’t anymore because of his obsession with Verity. He also had no prior relationship with her, but Felix was childhood friends with her. If I recall correctly Felix had many doubts about Natalija so I’m confused as to how they progressed that far. Maybe I skimmed over the explanation of this if I did, I apologize :)

However if I did miss the explanation of how Felix and Natalija came to be and it is true then I believe Felix meant to kill Verity in that lake. It wasnt some accident and his intentions weren’t as pure as his pov made him out to be. However if his pov is true then his actions contradict his thoughts vastly.
( I mainly don’t understand the Felix and Natalija thing at all both of their actions are quite sketchy and confusing)

A lot of things are left unanswered in this book, but it’s only book one. There’s like three or four in the series. Anyways don’t let my review discourage you from reading, it has potential it is different it just needs more development there was barely any world development. Which makes it tough to immerse and connect with the characters. I was so detached that I didn’t really care that Felix died I’m just confused that he ended up with Natalija. Like forget the death how did they come together 😂

This book was okay I’d give it a 2.5⭐️

3,5 stars.
The story was too short for me. I expected from the reviews and the blurb that this book would be about the mating game. The entire book was 250 pages.
At 60%, the mating game hadn't started yet. It was still kind of an introduction, but the 60% introduction was really necessary and wasn't actually really that long. The mating game part was really to short though.

There is a lot of mystery in this book. The FMC's father is really overprotective (she's not really allowed to go outside), but it feels like her father had ulterior motives. Her mother is mute, and seems like she sometimes isn't really there mentally. She also has a "best" friend, but from the first time you meet her you kind of notice that she isn't a nice person and it just gets worse throughout the book.
The mating game is another mystery that I'm not going to say something about because it is meant to be a mystery. I do have to say that it does really have a hunger games feel to it.

I did miss some world building. Our FMC is an alpha, but what is so special about that. Who (what) are beta's. I've read a lot of shifter books so I can kind of guess.
What I also don't really get is what hunters are? What do they hunt? Who is their "employer"? I think they might hunt the vampires that are sometimes mentioned. And I at first thought hunters work for the alpha but when the mating game started it seemed like the hunters were there to prevent the alpha from saying something to our FMC.

Overall: I’ll read the next and only because the ending was interesting.

There are a lot of spelling and grammatical mistakes. I chose to read over them but I know that’s a DNF for a lot of people, just be warned before starting this.

I liked the storyline but I did find it lacking with creating history and world building. There wasn’t a lot to go on outside of the main characters that we meet. I’m someone who gets obsessed with the past in a book it helps me latch onto characters. Verity was extremely naïve but that’s just her fatal flaw bestowed upon her by her father. But to not see something so obvious like betrayal from Natalia was her being blind. RIP Felix but he was an idiot too.

I wanted more spice and a little less predator vibes. Although we are reading wolf shifters I just didn’t vibe with Ryuk. Avery is my type and I think that was something the author intended as she kept him in the background and left us wanting more of him. Liam is precious and I’d totally runaway with him after he saved me 😂 bring it on, ya old wolf 🔥 This book had the potential to be 5⭐️ but could’ve used more depth. I DO NOT feel as though I wasted my time but I did need more from this book. I hope this helps others!

I have mixed feelings about this one. I didn't read the reviews for the book before getting into it. I just needed something to boost my dopamin levels while having to study for exams and I came across this book on TikTok.

This book does have potential. It is a dark-ish shifter romance, with a great plot. But there are so many spelling mistakes and the writting style is a bit confusing. I don't understand why we had to wait about 60% of the book to get to the mating games only for it to be filled with time skips and not much action at all.

The FMC is naive, which is okay, but there were moments when she really did come off as stupid. Her character does get better in the last third of the book though.

Overall, I felt like the book was a bit superficial and could have been so amazing if it was written differently. I will be reading the second book because I just want to know how the story unfolds.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Highly recommend!
Alpha Forsaken opens the Fated to the Alphas series with a dark and gritty twist on the werewolf shifter romance genre. The story follows a young woman destined to rule the Shadow Walker pack, only to have her future shattered by unexpected events during the Mating Games. As she contemplates her fate, she finds herself drawn to not one, but three very different alpha sons—each of them bringing their own set of challenges and dangers.
This book blends the tension of the arena-style survival games with an intricate romance involving multiple love interests. The dark themes are apparent throughout, with violence and betrayal shaping the story’s pacing. The slow burn romance and emotional turmoil add depth, but the book's darker elements, including the slow reveal of the main character’s challenges, may feel a bit heavy at times. It sets the stage for the rest of the series with intriguing character dynamics and an intense world-building atmosphere.

Verity (FMC) being the first born of her Alpha father pretty much means her life is mapped out for her. To either find her fated mate or be mated to someone that would have connections to help her pack. So Verity ends up in the wolf equivalent of the Hunger Games hoping to gain a mate. Only to be caught up in a complicated dynamic of 4 men - Felix, Avery, Liam and Ryuk. All with their own agendas and reasonings behind taking part in these games. Lots of full on action, secrets, lies and plenty of slow burn steaminess. Oh and one hell of a cliffhanger ending. This was such a good start to this series and a great read too

This book needs a good editor. The premise is interesting, but the execution is lacking.
While so much that should have been made clear from the start is unexplained (not plot points, but basic lore), the story itself drags on for unnecessary periods of time, with nothing much happening.

The heroine is clueless (HOW does she think thank girl is her friend ?!) but resourceful. The dialogues are not really engaging, and 2 out of the 4 MMCs of the harem are either lackluster or straight up problematic.

I will say tho, the final plot twists were nice, but not enough for me to continue the series after having read reviews of the next 3 books.

Apesar disto, gostei bastante do livro e recomendo

I think it's a personal preference but I can't read naive and sheltered and weak characters.

She spends this entire book at the mercy of one of the males in her life and doesn't really have any real fight in her.

I also tried to get invested in the characters that were presented and fell short....even tried to start reading the next book in hopes of it progressing quicker and it didn't.

Just not for me.

not sure how I feel.

I’m going to give book 2 a try because there’s something I like about the story. I wish the rules for the mating games were more clear. I hated Nataljia from the start. I don’t like best friends who are that fucking rude to someone they claim to be friends with. I wish she’d had just a bit more interaction with the guys before hand and that the like 3 days prior to the games didn’t take 70% of the story while the 3 days of the games took like 10%.

Lots of editing errors throughout the book and a very weak FMC. I felt she never actually came into her own she didn’t really show any character development; she just continued to be naive and meek. I really was hopeful for this book because I think the general idea of it was great but it wasn’t executed well.

My biggest gripe overall is that this book really needed a good editor. There are many grammatical errors, incorrect words, etc. It was very jarring to have to halt mid-sentence multiple times and re-read a sentence or two trying to sometimes decipher what had been meant to be written vs what was there.

I really thought this book had potential but the writing fell really flat. It felt like it was written and pushed out within a day (sorry 🫣) if this was rewritten and and characters were tweaked then this has the potential to be five stars. I’m kind of gutted. I won’t be carrying on this series sadly

A Unique take on an over done genre

I liked the story but it was not proofread very well, especially in the first half of the book. But I read it on Kindle Unlimited so it was free. I’m happy as the read was worth my time. I will read the continued story in the next book.

Not too bad

I did struggle to finish this book. Lots of great potential, decent enough plot line with good characters. The writing/editing was a bit rough, but manageable.
Fingers crossed the 2nd book is a stronger outcome.
