This is the 2nd in the WPC Samantha Barrie series, but easily read as a standalone.
Sam has settled into her job, is liked by her co-workers and her (secret?) loving relationship is still going strong. But when her best friend and co-worker Steve is arrested on the Isle of Man, suspected of smuggling drugs, she vehemently refuses to believe he's guilty and does everything in her power to prove his innocence. Acting mostly alone (breaking a few rules) she invites danger but plunges on nevertheless.
I loved the the 1970's vibe as well as the irrepressible Sam. It's not quite a cozy, but still made me feel warm: no gruesome details, no serial killer - just a bunch of likeable bobbies who do their best and get along, an absorbing story with a extremely engaging protagonist and some parts that make you smile. Definitely recommended!

Blue Bird and Blue Sky by Trish Finnegan
I really enjoyed this book as well as Trish Finnegan's Blue Bird. Both books were well written with good vocabulary and descriptions of places and people. Characters were developed throughout so that I felt interested in who they were and how they grew and interacted with each other I wanted to know more and I enjoyed the plots and the way they were handled. I hope the series continues as I want to know what is in Sam's future! A thoroughly good ,clean addictive read.

Another gripping thriller from Trish Finnegan.
This is the sequel to the excellent Blue Bird and sees WPC Samantha Barrie continuing her career through the police and getting involved in a crime ring centred on an airfield.
All good stuff and the author once agains combines knowing observations of 1970s policing with a classic crime thriller.
Fully recommend
