All I ever wanted was to keep her safe, the last thing I expected was to fall in love.
Offering myself to The Reapers in my sister's place was borderline suicidal, But I strolled into the lion’s den anyway.
And while the guys lived up to their reputation, I found out they did have a weakness after all- me.
But being theirs puts an immediate target on my back, And now I can't trust anyone's intentions.
But in their chaotic, dangerous world, I’ve never felt more at home.
People may think I’m just their little pet But they’ll soon find out…
I am their Queen, and damn was I born to wear this crown.
Queen of The Reapers is book two in a Dark Mafia Trilogy set in the Lovesick Villains World where our heroine will end up with multiple love interests. This book ends on a CLIFFHANGER and their story will end with a HEA in Book Three.
TW: This book features graphic violence, past traumas, dark romance, and dangerously possessive anti-heroes. Please visit author's website for a more detailed list of triggers.
Jessa Halliwell is a Dark Romance author who writes about angsty, torturous love, that's a little fucked up and utterly consuming. Her characters are raw and flawed but they always find salvation in each other.
She loves writing romance only slightly more than she loves reading it. She’s been known to binge read novels then spend the rest of the day sulking over the massive book hangover.
Jessa resides in Northern California with her boyfriend and her feisty Chihuahua. When she isn’t pouring her heart out in her writing, you can find her obsessing over her skincare routine, drinking an unhealthy amount of boba tea and probably crying over a really good romance book
Reading this book after finishing thick and meaty books felt frustrating because of how short this one was!!
Stevie was just damn annoying in this book. She kept thinking one thing and doing something else. Like there's a scene where she knows that she had to force Atlas to take her to some meeting, but she isn't allowed to sit in. And she actually tells Atlas, "Why did you bring me here..am I just a showpiece?!" Like bitch please. And her constant need to find Alex was grating on my nerves because it's evident that the guys are doing everything to find her but they also have their professional lives to take care of. So we have 200 pages of Stevie complaining about how no one is helping her and her acting crazy reckless with anyone whom she believes is a suspect for kidnapping her sister! And for her to believe shit about Ezra and jump to conclusions because of random shit..that makes zero sense! I'd much rather have the stone cold emotionless heroine that was *described* in the *prologue of book one* because after that, I've only seen a reckless woman with constantly changing emotions. Ugh.
And the weird non-con situation with this random ass man got me confused. This guy is like the enemy and he randomly sees Stevie and fingers her. Like what?! And after she orgasms, he says that it's not like she said no..it's just a really weird scene to add. It got me scratching my head wondering what the author's intention was in the first place?!!!
DNF @79% p166/204 Chapter 19(Stevie) Im just not feeling it. The FMC was really getting annoying with the way she was always running off on her own and keeping a ton of shit from the guys. She never once in the two books I read made an effort to trust the guys to help her.
I’m just over it. I really liked the first book. She did this same shit there. But it made more sense since she hadn’t made the decision to stay yet, she was still a prisoner there essentially. But the second book is almost over and she hasn’t changed her behavior at all.
I want to like this so badly, because the story is one of my favourites it's just done so poorly. There was so many mistakes on the ebook Kindle version. Heaps of paragraphs or sentences were repeated and at one time a whole page was the same 3 sentences over and over and it just ruined the flow. The main character Stevie is also really frustrating. She just does the same bullcrap mistakes over and over and never learns. And I just feel no connection between any of the guys and Stevie except for maybe Atlis.. Overall it needs to get proofed more and then it would be better, less mistakes and maybe more thought within the dialog and actions
I loved book 1 and have been dying for book 2 but I'm heavily disappointed. The entire book is Stevie just complaining and not using her head and plot holes.
The guys do everything they can possibly think of to help her find her sister but it's not enough.
Mitiri randomly shows up to the house and just basically starts fingering her and is like you never said stop so you obviously like it. And it feels like she starts having a small thing for him as it goes but he's supposed to be the bad guy. The characters never discuss anything so she gets pissed at them just fucks them and isn't mad anymore instead of them actually talking about it. Stevie just does things without thinking about anything continuously just to be a bitch it seems like. It was a really weird book all and all.
I'm really hoping book 3 as strong as I think it should be because this one just falls flat
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I took a chance on book 2, and it didn't pay off. Every word is forced and there is ZERO natural flow to the story. Still inconsistencies, zero development, and a whole lot of telling how strong she is or how they love one another with absolutely NO showing of either. It's not that they're monsters and love looks different in that kind of book or that she's broken and strength looks different... It's not. I LOVE those kinds of books, love enemies to lovers, bully, mafia, gang, and MC dark romances. This isn't one of them. The MC is weak and kind of stupid, and it's basically an excuse to throw a bunch of poorly written hate sex and rape or almost rape at the reader at every turn. And (*possible mini spoiler, so look away for a line*) not only that, but the MC decided to side with her rapist over the men she supposedly loves at one point, and just... WTF?! Rape trauma shouldn't be treated lightly, and by the end it was like, oh look, she's going to be forced into slavery and probably raped again... How shocking. You can't use the same trauma, or the threat of the same trauma, over and over and over again. It stops mattering, and turning rape into a trauma that gets closer over and doesn't matter or affect the victim is pretty freaking disrespectful. It's treated frivolously in this book, and I hated that. The entire book is filled with immature choices and an immature mindset, and it's kind of chaotic, like the author couldn't quite translate her ideas to the page in a clear way. The FMC is written in an equally immature fashion. A girl who's lived that hard of a life would have been forced to grow up quickly and become MORE mature, not less, but the FMC makes decisions like a 13YO who's naive to the world and the awfulness of the people in it. I've refrained from finishing maybe two series ever, and I'm going to add this to that very exclusive list. Won't be bothering with book 3.
I liked the story but I disliked the guys in this book. They all broke Stevies heart. I would have pushed like Stevie was to find out any information too. I did like the scene at the club and the claiming that they did. I hate Dimitri. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Hur kommer det sig att de kvinnliga huvudkaraktärerna i såna här böcker alltid tappar greppet? Glömmer bort sig själva. Blir lika mycket ett monster som männen de hatade från början?
Honestly the first book wasn’t that bad and I quite enjoyed it - but this? Bad. The writing was inconsistent, the plot didn’t make sense and I ended up hating the main character. I was going to DNF but I don’t like doing that but finishing this book was agony. Stevie got so whiny and there was not any development with her relationships with the reapers - even atlas who I think we saw the most of. The mafia plot was awful this time around with unnecessary new characters (Dmitri) that didn’t make sense.
As far as the whole Alex plot line it had potential but literally fell flat. It was hard to follow and I was so confused the entire time. Literally nothing happened except Stevie fucking complaining all of the time. She didn’t even try to do anything. I’m just upset because there was a really good set up for a plot that could’ve been SO interesting and instead I was just badly executed which made it feel worse.
Jessa is doing an amazing job with keeping us on our toes. At this point, I have more questions than answers.
BUT I absolutely love the chemistry between Stevie and her men. And I hated how short this book was. I flew through this book so quickly. and I feel like we’re left with so many questions.
But the steam between Stevie and her men got hotter and hotter in this book. Each character continues to stand out strongly against each other. And I’m here for it.
I really liked the first book in this series, but the FMC in this one was really getting on my nerves like homegirl was so stupid and kept making the same mistakes over and over again. It made me want to scream, but I’m still going to finish the series bc of course I am.
This book was AMAZING. Starting with a prolonged that sums up the first book in such a great way. From the first word to the last, we are immersed back in the reaper world, and it is frustrating, incredible, spicy and heart breaking all in one.
I didnt know what to expect from book two, but any expectations were blown out of the water with the authors talent for writing. Everything flowed seamlessly and the only downfall is now we're stuck waiting for the next book!
OMG I hate when a book ends in a cliffhanger but it worth each minute reading this book.
the FMC is annoying and imature but I think it's acceptable due to the fact that she's the one who gave her up and switch roles with her sister since the beginning... now it's understandable that she will be doing everything she needs to know what happened to her . I can't wait to read/ listen to the next book.
the only other person who pissed me off this much was aria vitiello both characters would do the same shit expecting their partner/s to react differently or different end results just stop repeating your mistakes honestly dont want to read the next book but theres only another 250 pages so heres to hoping it wont be a waste of my time 🙄
Stevie is starting to get reaaaally annoying. She can't take any good decisions and I really don't get her relationship with the reapers. She doesn't know anything about them besides the fact that she wants them. She lacks a good fighting spirit as well (and techniques also). I don't really get the reapers' decisions regarding Alex or Stevie. I'll be finishing the series but it's clearly not the series of the year.
This book was way too short and even though I haven't finished the third book yet, I already know I'm going to feel like book 2 and 3 could have been just one book. Stevie was also fairly annoying in this book.
Story was interesting, it went great after the first book, but in epub there was many times when same sentence kept repeating 1-6 times, and it personally made me frustrated
