A super romantic, guitar playing tattoo artist who believes in true love. An emotionally and physically scarred photographer who spends her days documenting the kind of love she believes she doesn’t deserve. If he wants forever, and she refuses to give anyone more than one night, can friendship ever be enough for either of them?
Johnny meets Becca after a Sleeping Dogs show that they've hired her to photograph, and he’s positive he’s finally found ‘the one’. Becca has other ideas, though, and hers are of the less permanent variety.
For reasons she prefers to keep in the past, Becca doesn’t get intimate with a guy more than once.
Johnny wants a fairytale true love like his parents have, and he’s gone through dozens of women trying to find it.
When Becca’s mother gets it into her head that she’s going to find Becca a man, Johnny steps in with the perfect plan. He’ll pose as Becca’s boyfriend to get her mother off her back.
Pretty soon, what’s supposed to be one friend helping another turns into more than just a fake relationship.
Can Becca face her trauma and find the strength to trust Johnny with a real chance? Or will the childhood accident that left her scarred in more ways than one leave her settling for less love than she deserves?
I’m a Canadian spicy rom-com author, lifelong book lover, coffee addict, and nap aficionado who’s lived in four provinces (BC, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and my current home, Alberta). My writing journey started just five years ago, and my debut novel, Second Chance, was the first book I had the courage to publish. You can grab it for free at your favourite digital retailer!
My passion lies in writing spicy, feel-good romantic comedies filled with swoon-worthy cinnamon roll heroes and strong, relatable female heroines, with the odd cameo from other characters in the same world. I want my books to make you swoon, sigh, and laugh until you cry (and maybe pee your pants a little).
That was something... 😱 This book had me in a chokehold the whole time 🙈 Yes, I would say 50% of the book wasn't new, because its timeline is parallel with the previous books. Starting right with book 1. But it's of course from the POV of Johnny and Becca. I didn't expect what happened to them during all this time. It was obvious that Johnny was head over heels for Becca. He is such a HUGE romantic. For a member of a rock band who is also tattooed from head to toe, you wouldn't expect that. Even though I'm aware now that these guys are special, Johnny still surprised me in so many ways. To the positive.
But all these plot twists. First because of the switched POVs, but WOW about Becca's mom. I can't find words for what I think about her. Even using the word mom makes me 😖 She has been gaslighting Becca her whole life 🤬 Even though Becca is independent and not weak, but when it comes to her mom... Oh I wanted to shack her multiple times to wake her up 🙈 Luckily Becca has Alex as her best friend, so at least one person is by her side and supports her.
I'm now looking forward to reading the last book in this series. The last member of the band. I'm curious when this book will start in the timeline 😁
I can't think of anything nice to say about this book.
Maybe because it's the fourth book in the series and I wasn't familiar with any of the (side) characters, but when the pairing from the first book should be engaged and parents of twins, why did it feel like the author erased their entire storyline from the first book's epilogue by breaking up the pairing?
The book had an awful start, because in the first chapter it already felt too rushed with the instant attraction Johnny and Becca felt for each other. I'm getting certain the "insta-love" or "insta-attraction" trope just isn't for me.
Personally I couldn't care less about either Johnny or Becca. Also, Becca should break contact with her mother right away, if she keeps treating her daughter like Becca's the ugliest woman you've ever come across.
Johnny was refreshing change. He was a man who wanted a HEA. In fact, he read romance novels. Despite being a rock star, he dated to find his soul mate not just to live the rock star lifestyle. Becca was a woman who portrayed herself as strong, but she was really a mess. This story had way too many "coincidences", far fetched ones. Becca was constantly vague with people and then got upset when they misinterpreted what she meant. Her lack of openness and communication caused a lot of friction. Becca's self-pity got old fast. Her constantly saying she knew her mother was toxic, but still listening to the evil things she said was annoying. Beware the triggers.
