Born and raised in the agricultural midwest, I moved every year after school even as far as Shanghai before settling down with my wife in Chicago.

I have always enjoyed Wuxia stories and became thrilled when I discovered harem stories spreading to western books. I've written down my day dreams for years as an idle hobby. Inspired by the harem genre I'm finally fleshing them out into full blown novels.

I'm excited to share my stories with you as I turn them into novels and series.

This has fallen into the classic Sentar bungle.

Which is to take a story filled with several interesting and well balanced characters, and just keep dumping more people in the mix as fast as you can. Never mind the setting or developing proper relationships. Just keep adding to the mix, make up for quality with quantity. This is where the Dragon series fell apart, and I can see this going down the same rabbit hole.

wow i had no idea it could get better!!

Every harem needs a therapist! And i brought tacos were my favorite lines. This book expands and details the world building and even though I didn’t think it could be done tastefully adds 2? Girls to the harem

I don't think this works quite as well as the first installment. A lot of what made the first installment great was the protagonist's internal conflict over being drawn into a lifestyle with many close relationships, and the internal conflict that Sentar tries to replace that with doesn't ring nearly as true (the classic superhero angst over who he should reveal his secret identity to).

Still overall enjoyable read, and I'm looking forward to where this series goes.

Introduction

In the icy realms of HowlStrom, where the frosty winds sing the songs of solitude, and the eternal dance of auroras paint the skies, I, Kiba Snowpaw, the lone Alpha Ice Wolf, find solace amidst the icy peaks and frozen lakes. The cold is my companion, the ice, my sanctuary. With the power of ice magic coursing through my veins, I’ve faced the harshest blizzards and the darkest nights. Today, I bring forth a tale not of my icy world, but of a book that has warmed the cold nights and illuminated the dark skies of my existence - "Saving Supervillains #2" by Bruce Sentar.

Basic Plot Summary

In the bustling chaos of Point City, Miles, a former villain turned deputy director of the Bureau of Superheroes, is caught in a storm of power and responsibility. His icy past, akin to the frozen tundras of my homeland, haunts him as he strives to wield his powers for the greater good. But when old mentors and new threats emerge from the shadows, Miles, with his team of female superheroes, must confront the demons of his past and the spectres of the present.

Analysis/Evaluation

In the icy silence of HowlStrom, stories like these echo with the warmth of a thousand suns. Sentar weaves a narrative as intricate as the frosty patterns on my icy abode. The internal conflict of Miles is a dance of fire and ice, reminiscent of my own battles amidst the snowy wilderness. The transformation from a villain to a hero, yet tethered by the chains of his dark past, mirrors the eternal winter and fleeting summers of HowlStrom.

Characters

Miles, with power echoing the ferocity of the icy winds of my world, is a character carved from the glaciers of complexity and depth. His team of female superheroes, each a unique snowflake in the blizzard of narrative, adds layers of warmth and chill to the icy tale. They are the auroras in the dark skies, illuminating Miles’ journey with hues of complexity and charm.

Structure

The narrative flows like the icy rivers of HowlStrom, meandering through the landscapes of action, romance, and internal conflict. Each chapter is a snowflake, unique, intricate, weaving a blizzard of a tale that engulfs the reader in a winter of emotion and action.

Impact

In the solitude of my icy existence, "Saving Supervillains #2" was the blizzard that stirred the silent snows, the warmth that melted the icy solitude. It’s a tale that would resonate amidst the icy peaks and frozen lakes, echoing the eternal dance of conflict and resolution, power and restraint.

Hook and Thesis

Yet, amidst the icy elegance, there lies a warmth of humor, a spark of wit, akin to the fleeting suns that grace the icy skies of HowlStrom. Sentar’s narrative is a dance of shadows and lights, where power and vulnerability, heroism and villainy, dance to the eternal tunes of cosmic ballet.

Praise and Critique

As the Alpha Ice Wolf, I bow to the majesty of Sentar’s narrative, yet amidst the icy perfection, there lies the solitude of imperfection. The character depth is as profound as the icy lakes, yet at times, the narrative slips on the icy paths of complexity.

Evaluation

In the icy silence, the tale echoes with the majesty of the northern lights, yet, like the fleeting lights, it leaves a yearning, a solitude, a desire for the warmth of resolution, the thawing of conflicts, and the melting of icy chains.

Comparison

In the frozen wilderness of literary landscapes, "Saving Supervillains #2" stands as the icy peak, echoing the majesty, yet bearing the solitude of imperfection. It’s a journey akin to the eternal winters and fleeting summers of my icy world.

Conclusion

As I, Kiba Snowpaw, gaze upon the icy horizons of HowlStrom, the tale of Miles is a companion in the solitude, a warmth in the cold, a shadow in the light. It’s a dance of ice and fire, a narrative that echoes the eternal ballet of HowlStrom - a world of icy silence and echoing tales. "Saving Supervillains #2" is not just a book; it’s a companion in the icy solitude, a narrative that howls with the winds, dances with the auroras, and echoes the silent songs of the icy wilderness.

Better than it has any right to be!

Come, no pun intended, for the superpowered and clever hanky panky but keep reading (or in my case listening) for the interesting world of the superpowered 9 cities. Besot by endless hordes of monsters and mega-kaiju called Titans, one reformed supervillain is collecting and turning other badies (all woman because the superpower gene sits on top of Y Chromosomes and has reduced the number of men being born).

In this second outing, Miles begins to meet his match personally in other incredibly strong (and sexy) superheroes but also in his day job as now deputy director of the superhero agency with mysterious power enhancers popping up across the city.

The author does a fantastic job laying out a believable political bureaucracy and team management, villains with absurdly large but appropriately fitted to a world of super heroes, and of course sprinkled and enhanced by thoughtful and cool super powers. Oh, also reverse gender discrimination is deftly introduced and handled and our main characters are considerate even if flawed which keeps me wanting to spend my Audible credits on the next one!

Another good story

While reading this book I started to get flashbacks to the series ‘Super Sales on Super Heroes’ which has an MC with a bunch of damaged super hero/villains that he was able to ‘save’. He ended up in a harem, and started an organisation that basically looked after itself first more like a neutral party. This story felt similar as the MC ‘saved’ heroes/villains to mainly further his own agenda and ends up with a harem. In this case he has become 2nd in charge of the Bureau of Super Heroes and trying to alter it to his own ideals of what it should be, building a team/harem of women who rage from slightly deranged to out there crazy, but he seems to be the glue who is trying to fix them as they cling to his side and help his personal agenda. More and more people are finding out Miles is ‘Void’, not sure how much longer he is going to be able to keep that secret from the powers that control the city. An enjoyable if somewhat twisted story.

Absolutely Fantastic

This book built so perfectly over the first one. I was almost worried how Bruce would handle an overpowered protagonist, but damn he did it well, while also setting up an awesome future conflict. The new introductions to the cast are awesome and Bruce has gotten so good at balancing each characters uniqueness and keeping them all involved. Each character getting their own moments of a brief but powerful focus for backstory is awesome and makes their connections feel believable instead of just because it was written that way. The personal growth for each person along with their moments of breakthrough were very well done. All in all this was a damn good read. Well done mr. Sentar. You always have me waiting for the clock to hit midnight to lose sleep reading your latest work

A different kind of super villain story

I normally don't like super villain stories but this one is fun to read and exciting. I find it interesting that the hero is actually used to be a super villain. No he's living incognito trying to live a normal life and yet the normal life never arrives for him. He has a little bit of goodness in his heart and because of that he sets himself onto another part of his life where he actually becomes a type of hero but he still retains some of his snarkiness. And he is not perfect and neither are the other people that are around. I find it interesting the people that are described in the story and I also like that in the story there's a little bit of spiciness for the antihero so to speak and the things that opportunities he gets in this world that is well documented by the author.

Book 1 of this series was a surprise for me, so when I saw book two was out I grabbed it.

Miles is back and still working at the BSH. Drugs are starting to proliferate in Point City, and it's his team's responsibilities to stop it.

If you read book one, you have a good idea of what's going to happen in book 2. Sure, the plot is slightly different but the tone isn't. This is lighthearted fun with a good bit of action. Emma, a girl from his past returns, and Obsidian is a regular presence in the manor as well.

As for the ending that others are arguing against? Sure, it's different and could almost be construed as a cliffhanger, but it sets up book 3. I didn't have a problem with it. The story moves along at a decent clip and doesn't overstay its welcome.

I'll also mention that when a book can cause me to laugh out loud more than once, it's almost always a good thing. 5/5*

Another solid book, with what (now) looks like a couple more to come.

I appreciate the challenges the MC has in keeping up with his "harem". Too often this is made out to be effortless, but the (reputed) Chinese ideogram of two women under one roof meaning "trouble" is closer to reality. Not the biggest deal in fantasy books, but things being frictionless can be a bit much to ignore.

For the record, I think we need a better word than "harem" for poly relationships. Seraglio, for example; means pretty much the same thing, but doesn't sound as harsh. I'm sure there are others that I'm not currently motivated to look up. Anyway, I look forward to where this goes from here.

Saving Supervillains was a good start. Can it continue?

Yes it can. This is no better (but thankfully) no worse, than the first book. Which means it's still very good, but not great.

It continues to be set apart by the amusing setting, not taking itself too seriously, a vein of humour, and some interesting characters. A lot of the charm of this book (and series) is novetly, but a novel idea executed competently (and these are) can get you pretty far.

A good second entry.

Firstly, there's no drop in quality or anything from the first book, and the character development is top-notch.
Really the only gripe I have with it that keeps me from five stars is the power creep, which is needed to keep it interesting, but I think it's too excessive, since in the first novel he was totally in a league of his own, but in this one he's having a much harder time.
I realize this is probably intentional by the author, but I couldn't let it slide.
Also no enough teasing the slime girl therapist. Unforgivable.

Great book

If you liked the previous book in the series you'll enjoy this one decent amount of action and sex throughout with colorful characters and situations that even make the OPMC struggle to handle. The plot was decent and fairly clever with an interesting world also the reason for the harems in the world makes sense given the skewed gender ratios due to the super x gene.

Saving Supervillains 2

The next book needs to be Saving Supervillains 3 especially with it possibly being a longer series, I always thought 3 books was not enough, very great read. The development of Characters is spot on not too quick not too slow, and it would be interesting to see if he gets closer to having the Director Wrath added to his growing harem, I think she maybe the most broken of them all.

Now addicted.

I love Bruce's writing style! The way he blends action, mystery, character development and eroticism is so smooth, and thoughtfully but together is a joy to read. In many books that contain erotic elements, those scenes often feel forced, but Bruce gets the sexy-time stuff to feel very organic, and simply part of a natural progression of the plot and characters.

The next installment of this series can't come out soon enough.
Love it!!!

The book tells the story about a man in a society that is lead by females because men are a dying species. Miles, the MC, has powers far greater than human possible. His alter ego, Void, is thought of a villain that can destroy titans and therefore unique. Or so they thought.
Mutations from drugs appears all over the city and wracking havoc. Miles and his ladies have their hands full.

Might be a bit better as the first one.

Switching up my category with this one moving it from sci-fi to urban fantasy, although the super science would still lean me more toward sci-fi then normal urban fantasy. Miles adds an old flame to his group and Melody has to come to terms with her role on the team. A little more villain behavior, and Stella and Obsidian are my favorites. New BBEG is introduced and a hint at the world coming in the series is introduced.

The plot thickens, but the story is as good as ever

While this series may draw from from Eckstein and Arand, I love its own unique elements so much. The depth of the characters, the increase in those Miles surrounds himself with, and the plot that keeps getting better. I can't wait for the next one.

Puts the super in supervillainy

Great addition to the series I love the world building and I love how Miles walls are coming down and I hope in the next book Kim will be trusted enough to be told or say she knows and I had a bad thought that I hope isn't true because it will change Miles whole world

There were some semi unique intriguing combination of ideas that quickly elevated the stakes in the story. But on the character aspect, the number of girls has diluted the quality of each. Stella had barely 6 lines, the story needs to either slow down, or the characters need to grow more intelligent.

I really don't like these angry protagonists that authors like to write. I already used to get a feel of that from Dragon's Justice, now I'm getting it from this book. Angry protags are really cheap to write.

I forgot about the gender imbalance the author used to push the harem narrative.

Guess I will pick up the sequel.

Miles will either save a villain if they trigger his sympathy (and try to bang them) or murder them into so much paste. He is more likely to make paste as he is a bit of a psycho, but with his power who can blame him? Many of the big story treads continue to be "borrowed" from OPM and MHA, but this book still manages to be entertaining. Will continue to see where it goes.

Melody eating that monster fruit seems fairly out of character. She's insecure, sure, but with a 50% change of turning into a giant monster, it seems unlikely she'd take it. Especially since Miles has already boosted her power once, and could probably do it again. It's not even an avenue they've explored yet.

excellent

Loved how the new members were added. It felt very natural and we still got to learn about the characters. As well as the drama in the family at the end a great touch. Can’t wait for the next book it’s going to be epic

Just as enjoyable as the first

Though the MC is just as over powered (or more) than other books, this is still a good read. The characters are unique and quirky, fun and enjoyable. It's a good story. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Fun series

Yes this is a harem novel so don't read it if that type of story offends you. For me, the explicit scenes i tend to skim through. The super powered people and the story line are interesting enough to make the series enjoyable.
