I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a review.
LAPD Detective Billy ‘Cool Breeze’ Crouch has spent years trying to find his baby sister. It has haunted his life and his career. Until, one day, he gets a hint that his sister might be alive. But how to find her? That’s when he stumbles into an investigation led by the US Marshall service trying to locate one of their witnesses who’s gone on the run. The witness is his sister. I’ve seen Billy as a minor character in several of Carol Ericson’s books. It’s finally time to see him as the star of the book. Both he and his sister deserve their ‘Happily Ever After’. I enjoyed this book, maybe because I’ve been hoping to discover the whereabouts of Sabrina too. Packed with non-stop action and plenty of suspense, this story has been a long time coming. I love the way the author captured and held my interest as the facts of the case slowly are revealed.
I have been waiting for Billy Crouch's story for quite some time! He's been a character in the Lost Girls series and while a good detective, he's been a playboy & not always likeable! However, he was so intense on finding his missing sister who vanished without a trace and that was understandable! It pretty much cost him his marriage although that was beginning to get rocky before the sister went missing. His nickname is "Cool Breeze" and it fits him - snappy dresser, playboy, etc. This story is about him finding out his sister might be alive after 5 years and he can't believe it. Enter US Marshal, Mia Romano. She keeps showing up and Billy is attracted to her but he doesn't know she's a Marshal, until he follows a lead about his sister and Mia has to declare her true self to stop him from making a mistake! Mia and Billy have sizzling attraction from the beginning! They also work well together in following leads regarding Sabrina (Billy's sister). There is a lot of mob action and trying to figure out who is shooting who! I loved the story and the ending!
Attention grabbing and addictive! If you've been enjoying Carol Ericson's The Lost Girls series, you will recognize the hero of this book Billy Crouch, an LAPD homicide detective who has been searching for his missing sister for years. The jig is up in this book and he finds out the whereabouts of Sabrina finally and it's a race against time with US Marshall Mia Romano to keep his sister safe until they can finally be reunited. I was hooked from start to finish!
Billy has been an attractive character every time that he's interacted on the pages of a book in this series. He's smart and astute at his job and charismatic and friendly to all. I really enjoyed getting up close and personal with his story.
Mia is a good match for him. She is also good at her job and determined to right wrongs, but she has a softer side that interacts well with Billy.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that enjoys intrigue mixed with your romance as danger is always nearby as love conquers all.
I've been waiting for Billy to get his story and it doesn't disappoint. In the first 3 books in the Lost Girls series, Billy Crouch has been in involved the investigations of these missing girls, always dreading getting the call to identify a dead woman who may be his sister. It has been 5 long years, now he gets a lead. Wait until you meet the US Marshall who is also tracking down leads on Billy's sister. This story has action, suspense, and some steamy moments. You won't want to put it down. You'll also get to visit Kyra & Jake's wedding.
This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was suspenseful, steamy and action packed. I didn't want to put it down. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is book 4 in the Lost Girls series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.
Terrific book. Billy "Cool Breeze" Crouch has been a secondary character in the previous series, Kyra and Jake Investigation, and this series, Lost Girls, as Jake McAllister's partner. Billy comes across as a playboy, is known as a sharp dresser, and can be amusing to be around. He is an excellent detective with the LAPD, and for five years, he has also searched for his missing sister, Sabrina. Then he gets a hint that his sister is alive, and it's off to the races! Billy will take any chance to find his sister. Is there a connection to the beautiful woman he keeps running into?
Mia Romano is a US Marshal looking for the witness who walked away from protective custody. Mia has a good idea where she's headed and needs to catch up with her before the criminals pursuing her do. She figures her best bet is to keep an eye on her witness's brother. But when he falls for a red herring, Mia breaks cover to keep him out of trouble.
I loved seeing Billy and Mia together. Their partnership was rough until Billy realized that Mia had a better handle on what was happening and a clearer vision. Though he is an experienced detective, his personal involvement interferes with his usual ability to think objectively. When he stopped thinking like a brother, he and Mia meshed well. The nonstop action and suspense kept me glued to the pages as they dealt with the danger they faced, and the need to find Sabrina intensified. The ending was a nail-biter with a surprising resolution.
I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Mia and Billy develop. Their chemistry was immediate and intense - not just the attraction but also the connection that drew them together. I loved that Mia understood Billy's feelings about Sabrina and her situation and didn't try to cut him out of the investigation. Billy's respect for Mia's abilities and willingness to listen to her was also a plus for their relationship. Seeing "Cool Breeze" flustered by his attraction to her was fun.
I loved the epilogue. There is the sense that everything is working out for Billy and Mia, and we get a glimpse of Mia with Billy's sons. There is a fun interchange with Jake, who is back from his honeymoon with Kyra, and whose wedding opened the book. I laughed out loud at seeing Sabrina with her nephews and then at Billy's reaction to her upcoming date with one of his coworkers.
Finally Billy Crouch gets his place in the spotlight. At Jake and Kyra's wedding, Cool Breeze meets a beautiful and mysterious woman. Their physical attraction is amazing but when he learns the truth about her Billy is shocked. Mia is a US Marshal and she's looking for his sister. Will Billy trust Mia and let her into his life? Billy is an amazing character. He's a hotshot LAPD homicide detective. I've wanted him to get his story forever. He loves his family and never gave up on finding out what happened to his sister. Mia understands his feelings and will do everything possible to make his dream come true. I enjoyed Malice At The Marina. The story is well written and filled with non-stop action. Billy and Mia belong together. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow. Carol Ericson has done an amazing job with Billy's story. I couldn't put this book down.
What a great conclusion to The Lost Girls Series! Each book can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend reading the complete series for your enjoyment. I was waiting for Cool Breeze to get his book and it did not disappoint. I like that he was human, struggling to protect those he loved but willing to listen when he's told he was viewing the situation as a brother, not as a cop. Mia the US Marshall and Billy provided page turning reading with suspense, intrigue and some steam. Thank you for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions! #maliceatthemarina #lostgirls #carolericson #harlequinintrique #paperback
Billy is hot on the trail of a lead in his desperate search for his missing sister, Sabrina. It’s been a long 5 years for this homicide detective. At his partner Jace’s wedding, he meets the beautiful, mysterious Mia. He doesn’t believe in coincidence when they repeatedly meet. Learning that Mia is a US Marshal also looking for Chantel/ Sabrina. They hesitantly work together to uncover what Sabrina is up to and where she is before it’s too late. Exciting conclusion to the Lost Girls series. 4.5*
I grabbed this for a quarter when I was out and needed something to read. I had no idea it was part of a series until I got to the end.
The story is believable and the characters are all well rounded. I was not overly fond of the pacing of the story. It was too slow at times and then just drawn out. Maybe make it around 50 pages less and I would be more entertained the whole way through it.
