As women, we are allowed to ask for more. We are allowed to ask for different. We are allowed to ask for better. And yet many women struggle to make requests that would help them, whether in their personal or professional lives, for fear that they’ll seem greedy, selfish or undeserving. In The Gift of Asking, executive and personal coach Kemi Nekvapil breaks down our cultural myths around asking, and – How to own your wants and needs, without guilt or apology– Step-by-step processes to ask confidently for what you want or need, even if your knees are shaking– What to do when the answer is ‘no’.We are always worthy of the ask, and getting comfortable with it is a sure step towards feeling empowered and valued in all aspects of life. Are you ready to start asking?
I bought and listened to this book on Spotify. It's narrated by the author who has an Australian accent. This book really got me thinking about how to ask for what I need. It made me rethink my past and why it was so difficult to ask. I made some progress with asking after reading this book. Now, I have a bunch of tools under my belt.
I got interested in Kemi's work after I did a meditation that really made think about life. This book impressed me. Kemi goes in depth as to why we do not ask and why we should, in an honest and kind way. I don't have the words to express why this book moved me to my core.
This was a great read and really made me think back on life and some of the reasons as to why I didn’t ask. I loved the chapter where it went through the right way to ask. I noticed that sometimes I don’t ask if the right way and need to work on it
