Those noises in the attic, The shadow you think you saw, They’re not your imagination.
Kade
I’m a patient man, I’ll bide my time, Watching, waiting, ready to devour you.
You won’t see me coming, But when I do, You’ll never be the same again. Once I have you, I’ll never let you go…
USA Today Bestselling Author, Felicity Brandon brings you her signature dark and captivating dark romance. Captor In The Attic is the first book in a new enthralling series.
DNF - personally, I can’t stand dark romance books where the fmc just goes with whatever depravity the mmc throws at her.
“Oh he’s so hot, I’m so wet even though he’s so evil!” Like, come on. A man breaks into your home, holds you hostage, and forces you to do terrible things, you could at least try a little harder to not fall in love with the depravity right off the bat.
I know I love my dark romance to end with the main characters falling in love, but there’s got to be some build up to it. I just couldn’t get into this, I’m sorry.

I’m going to be honest; the plot twist initially drew me in—it sounded wild and intriguing, which is why I picked up the book in the first place.
However, after finishing it, I have to say it fell flat for me. The story revolves around a serial killer who targets women but suddenly discovers a woman he deems special, the so-called "chosen one." This premise reminded me a lot of the show *You*, featuring a protagonist who becomes obsessively fixated on the object of his desires.
In a particularly unsettling turn of events, the killer hides in her attic, spying on her and invading her privacy, which gives off major “love and obsession” vibes—but in the most disturbing way possible. I went into this book hoping to enjoy it, but unfortunately, it didn't grip me like I hoped it would. It lacked the depth and tension I was looking for, leaving me disappointed overall.
Captor in the Attic by Felicity Brandon is the first story in the Beautiful Deceit trilogy. It is the story of Kade and Tiffany. He has a deadly history and sees her from afar. She is completely oblivious and continues to work on her cases as though there’s nothing wrong. But, she is about to completely lose all control….and he’s the cause.
Whew!!! This story was creepy and absorbing at the same time! You wanted to hate Kade, but couldn’t. You wanted to root for Tiffany but, couldn’t. This was an excruciating cycle that seemed to never end!! This story ends in a cliffhanger. Can't wait for more!! What an all-engrossing story!!
I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Be warned this is an intense read. The beginning reads like a horror story. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to finish it it was so creepy. Tiffany keeps hearing noises in her house but is convinced that it’s nothing to worry about despite not checking it out herself. Big surprise but it was something to be worried about. Kade moved in to the attic without her knowledge and was surveilling her in his hopes to make her his own personal toy. It quickly turns in to a kidnapping type book though they never leave Tiffany’s house. There are multiple non consent and dub con in this book. Eventually it seems to evolve into something more as is typical for a dark romance from Felicity Brandon. There is obvious attraction and chemistry between kade and Tiffany despite their less than normal way of meeting. That helps more the story along and keep it from getting to dark. This book is written in both Tiffany and kades point of view. For the most part it is a continuous flow but towards the end there was a lot of overlapping with having to go back and see how they saw an event that had already been portrayed from the others point of view. I felt that took me out of the story and would of preferred it to be the same style all the way through the book.
Now…Miss Felicity…I’m going to hold your hand when I say this…
Not every idea we have deserves to be written out. Actually, this idea SPECIFICALLY should have NEVER been written. Coming from someone who had the highest of hopes for this book based off the synopsis…this was like reading fifty shades of grey on steroids and NOT in the good way.
Kade is a psychopath..and maybe I’m used to all the psychopaths I read about being morally grey, murdery, super sexy, etc. but Kade just gave basic BDSM psychopath which was not sexy at all. And the FMC?? I’ve already forgotten her name but she was quite possibly the worst FMC I’ve ever read about. She’s a lawyer ffs and you’re telling me she’s just going to submit to the weirdo Christian Grey wannabe from her attic?? Where was her spunk? Her attitude? And when she finally did have the balls to fight back SHE PURPOSELY DIDNT KILL HIM AND THEN FORGOT TO BRING THE KNIFE WITH HER WHILE SHE WAS TRYING TO LEAVE. I don’t care how many consecutive orgasms he gave you, he’s a psychopath who made you lick cum off his feet and suck his toes…no man will ever have me that down bad.
This is typical Felicity Brandon. It’s dark, it’s non-consensual, the MMC is narcissistic and cruel, and the FMC is both horrified and highly aroused by the way he degrades and demeans her. She longs for and fights for her freedom but is drawn towards the man who has captured her. This book is the first of 4, and while it doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, it certainly doesn’t end on resolution. There is so much more to come.
It’s written from a dual POV, but getting inside Kade’s head does not make him sympathetic. In so many of these enemies to lovers books, the MMC’s perspective makes him, if not sympathetic, at least understandable, and we’re hoping for his redemption. Felicity Brandon writes men who seem unredeemable. I don’t know, maybe my opinion will change by the end of the series, but as of now, I can’t imagine him being redeemed or redeemable.
The FMC has a history of fantasizing about the very things that Kade does to her, and when she experiences them, she hates her loss of freedom, but a part of her loves what he does, or at least a lot of it. (I find it hard to believe anyone loves having their nipples clamped. It sounds agonizing. But that is probably lack of imagination on my part.)
Read the trigger warnings. This is not BDSM - it’s not safe, same and consensual. It’s dangerous, mad and non consensual. If you don’t enjoy reading about these things, stay away. If you do, you’re in for a ride. Brandon writes amazing stories, and this one is no exception.
Be forewarned. Be prepared for a story that starts like a light fog of goosebumps: of the heroine trying to explain then ignore things that go bump, noises that shouldn't be. And then, with increasing speed the light fog swirls around the reader, thickens & traps you irrevocably in an ever-escalating tale of shock, terror & erotic excess & punishment. As always, Ms. Brandon's writing skills manage to shock, titillate & mesmerize the reader all at the same time. Once the main male character, Kade, enters the story the pace & tenor of this story becomes frantic as well as emotionally agitating, placing the reader on tenterhooks for what IS & possibly WILL transpire to the helpless heroine. I found this one to be superb, luring me into a whirlpool of fierce emotions that ranged from creepy to shock to a sense of being a voyeur while Kade played his increasingly frenetic & erotic scenarios with his prisoner Tiffany. And believe me, I found it impossible to put this one down once I started it & I was practically out of breath when I finished it. Superb. Shocking. And I need the next one ASAP because I need to know how Tiffany fares under Kade's control.
Tiffany is an overworked lawyer. Kade was once a murderer, but now is determined to become a knowledgeable abductor! He has chosen Tiffany to be his next target. First he will furtively observe her from her attic. He will learn her secrets. Then he will visualize and encourage his imagination until the time is right for him to seize her.
How will she react as Kade reveals his knowledge of all her hidden fantasies? What will she do when he takes over her life and insists he is her master? Will Kade be able to dominate her, use her, punish her, debase and humiliate her and help her to willingly accept his/her sexual fantasies? How will he accomplish his goals? Can he coerce Tiffany into obedience? Will she learn to enjoy her new found ability to surrender?
This is the first book in a series created by Felicity Brandon. OMG! It is an exciting, intense, erotically humiliating and diabolically dark story of one woman’s need to accommodate the demands issued by her master. How far will this series take us? I cannot wait to find out!!!
Felicity has a style of writing which suits some readers. If you cannot accept degradation, humiliation, sexual abuse etc. this may not be for you. The sexual acts do consist of Master/slave-submissive. An act where the female character here dreams about, yet doesn't expect the outcome.
Kane & Tiffany are the characters present. Kane has a vey sinister past. Will this continue with Tiffany? No spoiling - the storyline is very detailed. Compared to Felicity’s Daddy series, for me at this stage I’m questioning the level presented. Started vey strong but almost appeared soft near the end. There is a continuation of Kade & Tiffany. Will Tiffany survive Kade’s demands?
Graphic, BDSM, captive, ??? Stockholm Syndrome 3 1/2 ⭐️star rating
Wow! Intense is the first word that pops in my head. The characters in this book are so actually attracted to each other, you might not see the good or bad in them. It’s very dark that’s a given with the wonderful Felicity Brandon at the pen. To say you get a lot of feels in this book is not an understatement. If you have any triggers with dubious consent or non consent this isn’t for you. Now then, for us that like the dark and deviant, this is a toe curler!! I can’t wait to see where this story goes! This does end on a cliffhanger. By the way, totally worth the wait. I want to see more into both characters psycho’s..I mean behaviors. There are just some spine tingling suspense that leaves a person on the edge. Onwards to the next one. I’m eagerly awaiting!
WOW WOW and an OMG !!! This was so intense and creepy not knowing what was coming for Tiffany, she had no clue so hold on tight for the ride of your life because this one is shocking and with triggers with dubious consent or non consent that I love so prepare yourself.
Kade is hot and very demanding he knows exactly what he's doing dangerous well we will see, he is committed to her now and there's no going back, I can't wait to see what he comes up with next cause this guy right here is the whole package.
So well written I couldn't stop they captured my undivided attention with their sexy ways so read alone is all I'm saying. So good.
This was my first book by Felicity Brandon, and I was pleasantly surprised.
I was pretty psyched that there was a main character named Kade. I don't see a lot of characters with the same name as me. haha.
Kade was... intriguing. He obviously is a bad guy, but Felicity Brandon did a great job at making him just likeable enough that you didn't hate him and almost wanted to root for him in some ways... Which isn't a great thing to say.
I love that she worked in that this was pretty much Tiffany's fantasy happening in real life, whether she realized it initially or not, haha.
Shivers up your spine. Dread arriving home to an empty house. Unexplained noises in the attic. My hair stood up in the back of my neck. I couldn't put the book down for fear of missing something. Ms. Brandon has to be one of the top non con writers who loop you in and make you almost think this is acceptable behavior. You know, as twisted as the story is, it eventually turns consensual. The fun in reading is the journey the characters go through to get there.
Tiffany is a solicitor and over worked but at home she keeps hearing noises from the attic. So she gets people in to look but no one can find the cause. At one point she thinks she must be losing it as no one else can hear anything. Kade has been there for a while and on a night goes down to her bedroom and gentle touches her and if she wakes up hides in a dark corner. This book is spooky but Felicity has pulled all of in waiting to see what kade does next I can’t wait for the next book. I received an ARC for an honest review which I have given
Sometimes I just need a quality, short, smut-filled story. Felicity Brandon is my go to for these types of stories. I would say this is your standard captive/captor fantasy story. Creepy-hot dude hides out in the attic of a successful 30 something year old lady's home. Lady is into captive/captor bondage fantasies. Creepy-hot dude makes her fantasy a reality by coming out of her attic and becoming her master. Bondage- non/dub con scenes ensue. This book is apart of a 3 book mini-series with each book being about 150-200 pages.
this is a good read honestly but it just wasn't for me.
I hated the mmc, everytime he spoke (which was a lot) I wanted to skip through it, and if I did that then I wouldn't have read anything because he talks that's fucking much. I was close to dnfing this but chose not to, I'm glad I didn't, I think their dynamic is interesting and I'm still very curious where this story is going to go but this fell flat for me. the first few chapters were good though! they were creepy and kept me intrigued in the story which I why I continued to read the whole book.
WOW! This book sucked me in and kept me up all night because I couldn't out it down. I'm a fan of Felicity Brandon, and I love her dark reads, so when she said she was going even darker I was all in. She wasn't kidding when she said this pen name would have darker reads. This one is DARK. It's intense from the very first page, and has a creepy horror vibe to it that I loved. The characters are amazing, as expected, and the writing is superb. Kade may just be my new favorite bad guy.
It’s a creepy story that drags you in. One man is hiding in the attic at a house that belongs to a woman. He has been following her every moment from about through cameras and going through her stuff when she’s at work. Now he’s decided that he will be her Master…. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
I really enjoyed reading Felicity Brandon’s new Beautiful Deceit series. I found book one Captor In The Attic and enthralling read, I couldn’t stop reading it once I started. Everything about the book pulled me in, the storyline was captivating and the characters were compelling. I can’t wait to read more about Kade and Tiffany.
23% in and Couldn’t finish it. I didn’t like the characters, writing or story. The first 3. Chapters were okay and I thought it was interesting but after those chapters the writing got weird and kinda rushed. Kade said he planned for months when and how to approach Tiffany, but when he did it was really anti-climatic. This just wasn’t for me.
Okay then. Not even sure where to start with this one. Definitely dark and intense. Do you love Kade or hate him or both? Do you root for them or not? This one will keep you...for good or bad...it will just keep you.
Not my cup of tea. It is also the first in a series, so while the story kind of resolves—no super cliffhanger, really—it is a personal peeve of mine that a book was already made not very long just to have the reader purchase more.
I found this a captivating and dark story to read full of twists and turns and hot steamy scenes. I can't wait to read what happens next. This is my honest opinion.
What can I say? Yet another fantastically written book from Felicity. The balance is perfect, the dub con that is really wanted but the doubt is there really kept me hooked.
