Awww this book was brilliant. My heart broke for both of them at the start for two different reasons. I love Maxim and how he treats Emma, she's his everything. Emma finally realised her worth and they go from strength to strength. I'd love to have another book to see where the future goes. Definitely worth a read.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
This was quite the fun read. We meet Emma just as she finds out that her fiance is breaking up with her and has been cheating on her for months with his ex (who cheated on him all the time so it's rather fitting/funny). With no where to really go she flees to her BFF's place. Maxim has been her friend for a very long time now. What neither of them knows is that they each have fallen in love with the other but they are scared to ruin the friendship so they hide it. This why they jump at the chance to do some friends with benefits type thing. Each has their own hidden agenda though so just as things start getting good between the two of them she runs scared. Quite a few ups and downs as they figure things out to make it to their HEA making for quite the enjoyable read. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
I chose this book based on the blurb. Knowing this was a roommates romance was all it took for me to want to read it.
Give me a chance is a best friends-to-lovers, roommates romance story that brings you into the lives of two people that have been given a chance to right the wrong. The chance being Emma's fiancé leaving her days before their wedding. Having nowhere to go, she ends up living at her best friends place. Maxim has always wanted Emma, but was afraid to act on it. Having Emma in his live, in his space, is a battle he both loves and fears.
There are many obstacles standing in their way, things that tests the bounds of their relationship, the biggest obstacle being the two of them.
Give Me a Chance was tough on the feels, but wound up being so good for my heart. I loved it!
I wasn't prepared for this book!, I mean Maxim's story?! When I started reading the Full Moon series I loved Jonathan, Camille and their kids, especially Maxim, of course, so what an amazing surprise to get the whole gang together again.
I won't lie, I even cried with this book, it's a beautiful friends to lovers story with a very unique twist and full of nostalgia about the Full Moon family.
I really enjoyed this one and it's probably one of my favorite books this year. Beautiful story.
I highly recommend you to read the Full Moon series, even when this one is a standalone, you will enjoy it 10 times more!
I loved Max and Emma story so much. The chemistry between them as friends and then as lovers was perfect. I can understand Emma insecurities because of the way she was raised. It didn't help any that her ext fiance cheated on her. So glad that Max was patient with her. I also appreciated that the author Ms. Stone didn't draw their relationship from friends to lovers out too long. I had a chance to enjoy their sexy relationship and not wait until the end of the book for the transition. Hopefully there is a book about Max Brother Vince in the future.
I need a Maxim in my life! What a diamond he was. I loved the closeness between him and Emma. Their friendship means everything to them and as soon as Emma needs him he's there no questions asked. This book shows that the path to true love is never easy but it was so worth it. A good romance with plenty of angst and lots of steam. These 2 had chemistry in spades. I enjoyed this 2nd generation friends to lovers. It's definitely piqued my interest to go back and read the previous series.
He is the son of a drummer she has been his best friend forever. He is in love with her but she is engaged until her fiancé cheats on her and she moves in with him. They start a friends with benefit situation
2.5 Stars. This started out to be a promising book, the set up was interesting, as was seeing the way he treated her after her horrible ex. The sex and dirty talk between them is pretty good. Unfortunately, that's about it. For one thing, considering they're "best friends" they have absolutely TERRIBLE communication, to the point it shoots a hole into the connection between them. I feel like we spend more time with both of their fears and doubts as opposed to their actual camaraderie and rapport. Plus, considering how love sick the H is it's hard to understand how he A) Kept it from her for so long B) why she was so completely sure he could never be in to her. Which brings me to another point, Emma was a complete insecure, mouse of a person and always jumped to the most ludicrous conclusions and made the dumbest contradictory decisions. She doesn't want to go with him on tour because she thinks that she doesn't want to be so wrapped up in a guy, yet she is constantly insecure about what he's doing on tour, she wants a relationship with him, but when he's practically mapping out their entire future together she cuts him off because she "knows she can never have it" which at that point makes zero sense. I am super glad however that there was no 3rd act break-up, just a ridiculous misunderstanding, which was one of the few times that I thought Maxim was being pretty unreasonable. He was hurt and mad at her because she believed he was cheating on her when she DID walk into a situation where it looked like he was having sex with someone else. There was no reason for her to know it wasn't him. He looked enough like his brother and it WAS his room, so why would she even think it was his brother? It seemed like a means to just drag it all out longer. Yet another gripe is that we didn't get to see the ex get any comeuppance! He got back together with his cheating ex and MARRIED her a month after he broke their engagement. We needed to see closure there, see Lindi cheat on him again and their marriage implode or Nic trying to get her back or SOMETHING. Overall, the characters and relationships in this book were pretty flat and a lot of the book dragged on. Probably won't read this author again.
How did I not realise this was a Full Moon gen 2 story before reading. My heart melted when I realised this was Jonathan's Maxim and this story was interwoven with the band and their families. Reading the Full Moon series isn't essential to love Maxim and Emma, but I thoroughly recommend the series for the added depth it gives the characters.
Maxim has taken over the management of Rock band Full Moon. His days are filled with working and missing his best friend Emma who is busy planning her wedding to his friend Nic. The book starts with arrival of his invite and the knock on impact for him in repressing his feelings for her.
This is a perfect best friends turned lovers, fakish relationship with rules type romance. Both think that they boundary their emotions in a friends with benefits arrangements. But what neither is able to realise is that when it comes to their best friendship, their hearts were already in play.
I loved this journey with them and their growing love for each other. These two were adorable together and I loved the man Maxim has become. This also sets up the potential for future love matches for the 2nd generation so beautifully.
Emma is excited about her upcoming wedding—until her fiancé drops a bombshell: he’s sleeping with his ex and has no intention of stopping. With nowhere else to go, she calls her best friend, Maxim, who immediately comes to her rescue. They’ve been inseparable since high school, but while Maxim has secretly loved Emma for years, she only sees him as her handsome, well-off best friend. As the son of a rock star and the manager of his father’s band, Maxim seems to have everything… except the courage to confess his feelings.
This story dragged so much that I just wanted to give up. Emma and Maxim are in their twenties, yet neither can be honest about their feelings? Boring! The internal monologues stretched on for pages, making the pacing unbearably slow. Emma wasn’t likable, and while Maxim was slightly more tolerable, he had zero game for someone who’s supposedly hot and successful.
By the time the ending rolled around, I just didn’t care anymore. It was okay, but not enough to redeem the rest of the book. The only reason I’m giving this two stars is that I managed to finish it.
Prepare yourself for all the feels and the most wonderfully written story you will ever read because once you meet both Emma and Jaxon I can 100% guarantee you are going to find yourself falling in love with their characters and tumbling head first into their emotional rollercoaster of a love story . Friends to lovers , roommates, heartbreaking and heartwarming moments , angst , off the charts chemistry, humor , witty banter , family , friendships, unexpected surprises , obstacles and ups and downs , love , passion , second chances, unforgettable and unputdownable. . Give Me A Chance is the perfect blend of all of the above , it’s the type of storyline that grabs onto all your emotions so completely and has you literally sitting on the edge of your seat the entire time . Settle In and prepare yourself for a very long night of reading because once you start it’s pretty much impossible to stop
Ok here we go. This book was really good. I'll be honest though, it seemed to drag. I found myself just flipping through to get to the end. I get she needed time to get use to being by herself & not wanting her whole world being around him, but couldn't it been done faster? Like do the whole "three months later" or something like that? It's kinda boring reading over & over how they miss each other & want to be with them. Now if I missed it, I take full responsibility, but why wasn't there something about Nic? Couldn't they have thrown in how she was still cheating on him? Maybe she's pregnant & don't know who's the baby daddy? Something to show he messed up. If you're able to make it through let me know if I missed it, yea? Read only if you like long drawn out stories. On to the next.
Ugh 39% I tried to finish. Emma and Maxim are already in a relationship without sex. They are just calling it best friends. Then they have sex. Now they are definitely in a relationship. Maxim is there for her every step of the way, he protects her, he beats up his friend who broke her heart. Emma isn’t even In love with Nic, I don’t understand why she continues to get angry and sad that he’s moved on. She loves Maxim. She’s in Iove with Maxim. What kind of best friends can’t communicate and tell each other they are inlove with each other. Actions speaker louder than words and the actions were very loud. The plot is ridiculously stupid. This is why I hate reading BF to lovers. The best friends are usually already in an untitled intimate relationship. Then by the end…they give it a title. BF and GF. Come on seriously! That’s what you guys were all ALONG!
I absolutely loved this book!! I could not put it down. This is a really good friends to lovers /roommate trope with all the angst, passion, and love! A new series, 2nd generation, about Full Moon's drummer's son, Maxim and his best friend, Emma.
Emma and Maxim have been best friends for the past 10 years. After Emma's fiancé calls it quits on her, she is devastated. Maxim swoops in and offers her a place to stay until she's back on her feet. That's when things start to unravel and their "true" feelings start to come out. Lines between friendship and something more begin to blur! Plenty of spice and chemistry!!
I loved how Full Moon is incorporated into their book. There's definitely some funny interactions from their friends and family.
I really enjoyed this book and I can NOT wait until more in this new series!! I definitely recommend!!
A good read of best friend to lovers. Maxim and Emma became friends from the first day they met in high school. Although they were in love with each other, their friendship was more important than any feelings they could have as both were worried about losing their friendship. Fast forward ten year later after a heartache, they decided to sort of take a chance on each other. An emotional, exciting and lovely read of friendship, family and romance. I find the characters to be well written and the storyline was great although towards the end I was kinda losing it as I felt it was stretched out and the extra bits I didn’t think was necessary. I would definitely love to read the next as I think it would be an interesting read.
Omg when I found out we were now getting second generation of the Full Moon series I was excited. What better way to start off then the oldest Maxim. Emma meet Maxim when she was having a vending machine crisis and became best friends. When Emma's world crumble with her fiancé dumps her days before the wedding she goes to Maxim. Both are finally giving into their feelings but it a bumb road. This book was amazing I couldn't put it down. I'm excited to see who is next.
This book is an amazing read that will keep you reading from the very beginning all the way till the last page. You will have a very hard time putting it down. It moves along at a pace which is perfect for the flow of the story. The characters are amazing and you cannot help but love them and the story will grab you keeping you interested until the end. This book needs to be read, no doubt about it.
I love me a good romance and then you throw in the whole friends to lovers situation and it makes it even better. This is Emma and Maxim’s story. They are best friends and when Emma is left days before her wedding Maxim steps in to pick up the pieces. The connection between them was so hot and palpable. It was such an easy book to read and hard to stop reading once I began. Great read highly recommend.
It took Maxim and Emma a while to go from BFFs to lovers and it was a bumpy ride but they finally got there! I thought Maxim was great, his loyalty to Emma was admirable. Emma had endured a lot and it’s understandable that she didn’t want to risk losing Maxim but I’m glad that Maxim didn’t let it go and pushed when she needed to be pushed. Plenty of steam and angst in this one!
Reasons: The story is very bland. I feel like they are already in a relationship from the very beginning. The conversation between the band and main MC just felt icky. They idea that women are only in two categories. Women you fuck and Women you marry is such an outdated ideal. I don’t like either the heroine and hero.
4.5 stars I really enjoyed this book. It's a friends to lovers story and a 2nd generation spin off from the Full Moon series (which I have not read). Emma and Maxim met in high school and have been best friends since. When Emma is dumped days before her wedding, she talks Maxim into helping her 'up her game'. The only rule is not to catch feelings.... opps, too late! I loved Maxim, he was so sweet, protective, understanding and so perfect for Emma. He was juggling many things but always had time for her. Emma was independant, but her history didn't allow her to believe she deserve Maxim. I wanted to bang their heads together for not seeing what was right in front of them. This story was a complete roller coaster of emotions whilst these two got to know each other on a completely different level. They had so many obstacles to overcome, even after they'd started to admit their true feelings. I loved how these guys talked through everything, no big arguments, or storming off just telling each other the truth. The story really does delve into all the details of their relationship, the good and the bad. This story really had me hooked from the beginning and really makes me want to go and read the Full Moon series.
I love the best friends to lovers trope and really liked Maxim, but found Emma to be incredibly annoying. The book also seemed longer than it needed to be.
Love getting the 2nd generation and love Maxim! This is a sweet and spicey best friends to lovers story with great characters. Enjoyed and eager for more.
I am a sucker for best friend romance and holyguacamole my heart was signed sealed delivered to Maxim.
*𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐬, 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞.*
Instantly from meeting Maxim i knew i was going to fall effortlessly in love with him. He's caring attentive nature and a back bone for those he cares for screams through the pages.
Emma's heart was broken and torn into pieces, every girls worst nightmare. But with a best friend like Maxim he's all your ever going to need.
LOVE that Full moon are still so evident in this book and it's amazing how Stacy has interlinked them, it enables you to feel connected to Full Moon series whilst exploring a new series.
Vincent and Olive - damn i hope there story cones for sure as they are intriguing and the chemistry is off the charts!
This without a shadow of a doubt is my fav read this year!
I am and always have been a sucker for friends to lovers stories. This one was so incredibly well written and I absolutely fell in love with it from the moment that I started reading it.
I loved the characters and the plot, loved them chemistry between Maxim and Emma. I loved how everything developed between them and just how much they both loved each other.
I could not put this down once I started reading it and am looking forward to checking out more from this amazing author.
Love a Friends to Lovers romance and this is gonna be one of my favs x
The angst 🖤 and chemistry between them - such a treat.
Loved having Full Moon play a part. This will have you swooning HARD for Maxim, and falling for Emma. Their denial had me laughing and the friends/family input was funny.
Really enjoyed this and looking forward to more 2nd Gen books x
