Mama Vee finally feels like she has met her soulmate, and he doesn’t belong to another woman. When she thinks she has finally found happiness and is ready to pursue this new and fresh love – her past comes knocking at her door. With Owen being the man she had always prayed for, Vee isn’t willing to let this relationship go. Will she be honest and tell him about her past? Or will she and her ‘past’ decide to take this secret to the grave? After all, Mama Vee is known to keep a secret or two.
Roddy is stuck between a rock and a hard place. After finding out about Juleena’s secret abortion, he’s brought to a time when he lost his wife. Trying not to mentally lose it and remain strong, he distances himself from everyone. What happens when he finds out that Yves knew about Juleena’s plans before she went through with them?
Yves has stuck by Roddy’s side, even playing second to his selfish fiancée. When Pooh decides he’s done playing small, and decides to apply more pressure behind Yves, will she take the bait? Or will she continue to follow behind Roddy with hopes that he’d finally choose her?
Jia is tired of everyone coming at her behind Juleena’s abortion. She did what any mother would have – or at least that’s what she keeps telling herself. With a reality show in the works, she’s trying even harder to make her relationship work with Roddy. After all, Jia Love has an image to portray, and that includes Roddy and their ‘perfect’ relationship.

Back again with the drama this book has so much twists and turns I didn’t know which way they were going to go ! This book was good ! I am glad some people were given exactly what they deserved in the end. Although there were some casualties but this book was still a good read. Definitely my favorite book series! Can’t wait until book 4 comes out.

It was just ok 🤷🏾‍♀️

I get Jah didn't want anyone to feel like this was rushed but whay can I say...it wasn't the best with all the anticipation waiting for book 3. Too much time was spent on Jia's useless ass and Roddy had me ready to jump through the pages and strangle him at times. Also, I get that she's hinting to another character getting a book and maybe that's why she left Juleesa's story about her time in New York so incomplete. It would have been a better story if she ended Roddy and Jia's horrible relationship in the beginning and we got to see Roddy and Yves relationship develop more. I feel cheated because this is not what I expected. Is she didn't want it to feel rushed she should have done a better job about dragging this out and spending so much time on what I consider useless parts of the storyline (i.e Pooh and Jia) I was over both characters a few chapters into reading the book.

So Disappointing

Unfortunately, the author Jahquel J’s idea of love is very warp. First and foremost, Roddy was the worse. He dogged Yves out up until the last chapter. You cannot convince me that he loved Yves at all by the way he treated her and talk to her. He was extremely disrespectful, emotionally and verbally abusive towards her. Also, he had no problems with sleeping with both Jia and Yves back to back throughout the whole series. It was hard to read because one chapter he’s declaring his love for Jia and how she had him wrapped around her finger while steadily trying to get in Yves pants. Then it was definitely no secret that Yves was going to fall off the wagon because she wouldn’t even do the little stuff like attend a meeting to make sure she didn’t lose her sobriety. Also, she wasn’t an Angel, because she had no problem sleeping with Pooh and Roddy at the same time. All of it was just toxic and dysfunctional to me. Lastly, why introduce the whole Juleena and Mooski guy storyline for it not go anywhere. If there is a spin-off, I will not be reading it. This author has no idea of what love truly looks like and cannot be trusted.

Not what I was expecting

Too much back & forth & repetitiveness. This book was mostly about the same stuff we read in part 2. The back n forth between Roddy & Jia. Very boring. I skipped a lot of parts. I would have rather read more about Yves & Roddy. Disappointed.

I am hoping there will be another part to this.. Why introduce those other Characters & not give us The Tea on The? Also, What happened to Roddy's Wife? Yeah, Yeah.. we know His 'Friend' Killed her, but WHAT HAPPENED? Also, Pooh? what's his deal? Why was there No Convo between Yves & Her Mother & that Cousin that Hired her to wash hair?(She HAD TO KNOW HOW DIRT THEY ALL DID YVES). I just got the feeling the Author got tired & just dropped the Pen.All that even about RJ & Juleena's Grandparents selling that house.. and let's not forget about the Trash Aunt.. Keisha & Oblique? We all knew that was crap..Khalif got No Holla Back from Yves?? SHEESH.. anyways.. Where's the rest? I would read the next part..if there is a next part, hopefully it WRAPS IT ALL UP. COME ON JAHQUEL.. We need this wrapped right.

Not Even Close

I still read the book, even though there were some pretty bad reviews. I’d already read books 1 & 2, so I had to know how it ended. Especially after waiting for months, longer than what the author promised. So many dislikes about this book beginning with it being all about Jia and reality tv stars, multiple Kim Kardashian references. No character growth for anyone except the baby. Then it felt rushed when it came to details in key moments. A lot of thought & backstory pages, which were already thought of in books 1 & 2. Wasn’t worth the wait or the read. Highly disappointed.

it’s a no for me dawg

She could have kept this last book. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but I just had to! At one point in the book I completely stopped reading for almost 2 weeks. Yves was sooooo weak and Roddy was an idiot. I honestly didn’t like ANY of the characters except RJ and Kingsley. My only reason for finishing it was to leave this review

Highly Irritated

Whew I’m so glad this book is complete because these characters irritated tf outta me. I hate an indecisive man who can’t come correct the first time. Yves also got on my nerves at times. Honestly nobody in this book (except Vee and Owen) has any business being in a relationship.

not what I expected

It was good but it felt rushed! I was expecting it to focus more on the 2 main characters. There was too many filler chapters in the book. I just wish it had better direction like book 1 and 2. I was really excited about the release but this book didn’t live up to the others.

3 Book Review (Long)

Overall I would give this series a 3,the story and the direction I think the author was trying to go in was great. But it ends of being very long, repetitive and drawn out for no reason. Which makes you skip a bunch. (Should have been like a housekeepers diary entries)
It’s amazing that a book was written with no likeable characters! Everybody was a pain….but RODDY was the absolute worse and weakest link!! Nobody had anything redeeming about them just bad people all the around. All the women characters were male identified and the men were misogynistic. Jia was the closet thing to a feminist and well…yeah *eye roll*
Roddy acted like he was a damn grandpa, you’re barely mid thirties. Have fun!
Yves to get better, you do better!
Vicky:excuse maker for everybody!
And those children…chyle!
Ugh I just felt like the author tried to make everybody more of villain to make roddy and yves not look so bad but it became so unbelievable. Example Khalif, he was already a villain adding him to be a serial cheater with an outside family pleeease! The timelines ran all over the place. I could go on and on. Read it for fun and support this author, she actually a very good one!

I’m bout to get aggravated…. first of all i wouldn’t be in this situation because what i look like engaging with an engaged man…idc if the relationship is hanging by the pinky toe nail. but if i did find myself in this situation, the minute he called me a b*tch and to get out the house i would have been half way around the world so fast it would have made the ancestors dizzy. i would be off the grid so fast you would question if i even existed in the first place. THEN why are we taking advice from a grown woman who still making dumb decisions when it comes to men. Ever saying that Jia has the ring but you Yevs has his heart pissed me off so mad i think smoke came out my ears. like am i suppose to get on my knees and kiss his feet bc im soooooo special? like gtfo my face. Jia is a mess. imma finish the review when i finish the book.

P.S my reviews may seem critical but they are not bc im not criticizing the authors writing, besides some grammatical errors, if the writing is good enough to have characters so fleshed out and well written that i want to get in the ring and fight them. then the book is great in my eyes. i just hate everybody except the baby and RJ. our quiet nonchalant king period.

How you let a man like Rodrick make you relapse…..imma get pissed off like what bro

We readers know, that authors can take their characters any way they want, that’s a given but I was a little disappointed with this book. I don’t know how the focus switched to Jia, she did the same stuff for 3 books. The boring mess of a relationship with her and Roddy was repetitive and I found myself skimming through her stuff. Jia, who is the most shallow person in the book, including the kids, ended up on top and making Roddy and Yves look like fools. I wish more of a focus could have been on Yves and Roddy but that’s how it goes sometimes.

Jahquel comes to the front!!!!! GIRL they better get their shit together in this finale. Cousin at right as of right now the only people who have not pissed me off is this book is Mom Vee,
RJ, Dr. Owens and baby Kinsley. I’m going to give my review at the end.

The three quotes I will give you about self love…..

You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection. — Buddha

How you love yourself is how you teach others to love you. — Rupi Kaur

The relationship with yourself sets the tone for every other relationship you have. — Robert Holden

If you don’t love yourself, you’ll always be chasing after people who don’t love you either. — Mandy Hale

CLASSIC - You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.

SIDENOTE (aka “Don’t come for my stars!”):
Just a quick heads-up my ratings are based on whether I’d reread the book or add it to my personal collection, not the quality of the story itself. So here’s how I roll:

5 🤩 = I’m obsessed with everything the storyline, the author, and the narrators! I read it yearly and own ALL the copies: physical, digital, and Audible. I can basically recite this book. It lives in my private library.
4 🌟 = Loved the story, the author, and the narrator (if it’s audio). I’d happily reread it when I need a solid comfort read.
3 ✨ = Enjoyed the story, the author, and definitely the narrators. A great addition to my yearly reading challenge likely to revisit if it’s part of a series I need to refresh.

This book took me through the wringer. I was on the train reading my book in peace when it was casually mentioned that bourbon was ingested. I quickly turned my Kindle off and put it away. The tears followed as I thought about everything that has happened to Yves and what could happen after that drink. I had hope that Yves would get herself back together quickly. Unfortunately she took a while to get back to healthy. Actually she wasn’t healthy she was surviving. Because she wasn’t drinking I thought she had figured out a way to be good. She was hanging on by the skin of teeth. She was living with grief and guilt and she wasn’t getting help. That is real life, but it still hurt.
I was always on Yves’ side. I like her as a character. Even when I was angry at her for driving after drinking and being in that car accident that took the life of her daughter. Jahquel J writes women who are not easy to forget. I love that. Yves is flawed, but she is a good woman. I can’t even get my thoughts together well because I am tearing up just thinking about this woman’s pain.
I must say that I was yelling at Jahquel J when Yves went to visit Vee and had clearly been drinking. Yves got into her car and drove home with alcohol in her system. I was begging for this character not to die(this is not my first Jahquel J book). Of course Jahquel J had to put us through something even worse than Yves driving home that day.
I’m glad Yves got herself HEA. I am even more grateful that there was a fourth book because this book was supposed to end the series.

The Heart Wants What The Heart Wants!!

Roddy wore his heart on his sleeve, didn't nobody know that any better than Jai. All she had to do is drop a few tears and suckem and f***em. Jai is selfish spoiled brat and everything must go her way. She even missed her own daughter's first birthday and didn't even visit Juleena in tthe hospital an she's always throwing around our family to anyand everybody who would listen. Yves knew her and Pooh were two different people from when he got locked up and her disastrous marriage and drinking. She accepted his proposal because she tired of waiting on Roddy. Khalif, Tara, and her mammy ain't ish. He pulled the plug on their daughter to be spiteful and hurt Yves. Mama Vee got her man. Allie, Mama Vee and the kids loves Yves. Jai is trying live Kim Kardashian lifestyle. Jai didn't even want Kingsley. She had her keep Roddy in her pocket. Keisha told Roddy everything. You would have thought after she took Juleena to get the abortion, everybody thought he would have left. Juleena is just doing want to typical teenager would do. It took Yves trying to kill herself for her and Roddy to be together.

I'm straight on this

Yves, Roddy, Jia, & Mama Vee are all for the fu***** STREETS!!!

Mama Vee seems to give great advice on everybody else's problems, but can't seem to fix her own s***!

Jia is the most selfish, toxic, entitled, female that ever walked the planet.

Yves is a great caretaker, no one can deny that, but the way she allowed Roddy to treat her is disgusting. The minute she let him in between her legs I was done with her. Then she had the nerve to get mad at Pooh when he called her out on her s*** after Kingsley birthday party. The thing is, he was right.

Roddy is the guy you either have fun with or learn a lesson from. You don't settle down with a man like him. He's emotionally immature, and the worst kind of person when he doesn't get his way.

I only kept reading for RJ, Juleena, & Owen.

Now that It seems like the author will be giving a bull**** HEA for Roddy & Yves, I'm done. Those two bafoons don't deserve anything, they're horrible people.

This will go in the DNF pile.

Whew chile

First, thank you for all you give!!! You are a great author, who some feel you should just write, write and write some more but fail to realize you are a wife, mother, sister and phenomenal woman with a life so when books arent out as fast as they want, you always deliver IN YOUR TIME. I applaud you. Now this here series, i sat on the edge of my seat through many of these chapters. Jia was trash from book 1 and i knew she wasnt what Roddy needed. Momma Vee, so glad she fets her forever. It took Roddy awhile to SEE but im glad those rose colored glasses were finally removed. With Yves, towards the end of the book, i cried for sis. Im truly glad she got the help, love and family she deserved. Bravo Jah, you did that again.

wowww

This my first review after reading all 3 parts and I wannnnnnttttt more!!! All the yves had been through, she deserves her happy ending! I want to see her, Kingsley the new twins cause KK ain’t about to go for that!! Jia annoyed the hell out of me and I still don’t like her. She put them thru all of that when she could have just left in the first place. I still wanna know what type of stuff Pooh, Rafi and Zya are into. I was so mad at Roddy for the things he said to Yves bc she ain’t deserve that and he went too far, she ain’t make him pay like he should have!! I love them both tho, but we want MORE🥰🥰

Jah you definitely went out with a bang on this series I loved it!!!

I truly hate to see Roddy and Yves story come to an but I am happy that they finally got it together and got their happy ending. That damn Jia was a mess and I wanted her to receive a little karma for her part in the drama but oh well we can’t always get what we want lol. Mama Vee was finally found her forever love in Owen and she absolutely deserved it. Jahquel J your penmanship is definitely official you always bring the heat I will definitely be waiting patiently on whatever you drop next!!

good

Nice ending to a nice series. I definitely read it all in one sitting lol. It made me laugh, cry, and at times want to thump Roddy in the head! I was a little disappointed, though, in the amount of errors. There were quite a few instances where words were missing, incorrect, or added. That's frustrating. I know that has less to do with the author than the editor/proofreader though, it does take away from the quality. If Amazon would allow half stars I would have given 3.5 due to the errors because without them this is definitely a solid 4 stars.

Outdone Again!

Whew chileeee! I don’t even know where to begin! I always fall in love with characters from any book that I read, but this series right here has, by far, been the one that I can relate to the most and have the most love for the characters. Alcoholism runs in my family (both sides) and I have seen the damage it can cause. Even though it took Yves and Roddy a good minute to figure their ish out lol, I’m more than happy that they got their happy ending. I cannot wait to get that good good update on them and the kids!

This series was amazing!!

This series will have you on an emotional rollercoaster like no other. Yves, Roddy, Jia, Vee and everyone else will have you in your feelings ranging between sadness and sorrow, love and happiness, and anger and resentment. Juleena definitely shocked me with her actions at times as well but Roddy was to blame for some of that. I'm hoping that we get a story about Julenna and the rest of her time in NY and even more about RJ because he was the one we rarely heard from. This series was so good that I spread the time out of reading it to savor it!!

Loved this story line

This series kept me up at night in the best way possible! The characters are all so animated and Madame Jahquel did an excellent job of showing their individual personalities, trials, and growth. Mama Vee was my favorite, she was just what Yves needed in her life. Baby family isn't always blood and this showed it perfectly. I loved every minute of this series. Sometimes when you have a series the author adds a bunch of unnecessary descriptive narration that drags the story out but not here! GREAT JOB!!!!!!!

Rollercoaster I would ride again

I knew Yves would go down a dark path but didn’t know what direction it would take. I didn’t like how Roddy engaged with the people in his life when he was upset and they just moved past it in the next chapter. I felt like everyone else was held accountable except him. I am not a fan of the age gap relationships especially where minors are involved. I enjoyed the flow of the book and the series as a whole. I would recommend this series with disclaimers.

love this series

Finished the first three books easily, didn’t want to put it down and was so excited to not be left on a cliff hanger lol. Love the theme of family not always being blood, alcoholism, social media influences, motherhood and parenthood, secrets and more. Love this book, fun to read and I found myself relating to almost everybody lol. At the end of the day we all want love, to be loved, to share it and to give it and it looks differently for us all. A must read. 5/5.
