Rate this book
Practical Magic meets BewitchedFirst Book in the House Witches Mystery SeriesCharli Quinn and her sister Brielle own House Witches Cleaning and promise to clean like magic. They may not be your everyday, run-of-the-mill witches, but they are... something.

When Charli finds the husband of one of their clients dead, the wind warns her to beware the man with eyes of green. As the sisters search for the ominous man, they find themselves in danger and rely on their real magic to outsmart the killer.

Along the way, Charli and Brielle have help from a group of fairies, and even a talking cow. And Charli falls head over broomstick for a tall, sexy deputy with dreamy blue eyes who saves her from being hijacked by a water sprite.

Of course, it wouldn't be Texas without tacos.

This is my first time reading anything from this author, and I’m sad that I haven’t stumbled upon her before. I was searching for a good Cozy to help clear my ‘book pallet’ as I had read multiple fantasy books and need a break. The title just grabbed my attention - and I do like the ‘happy’ paranormal stories. This book (and the next in the series “Here… Hold My Broom” were both really quick reads, and now I’m ready again for dark fantasy. I do want to ‘thank’ the author and her staff for providing a nearly ‘error free’ read, there were a few wrong words used, but it was minimal and didn’t cause me any grief. I hope that Brielle and Charli will be back in the very near future, as I’m ready to continue their stories!!!

Cute cozy mystery starring two sisters who have inherited magical gifts that they use to help their community. The plot was tight and logical, the characters likeable, and the mystery solved by story's end. There were very few editorial issues.

The only thing that bugged me was Charli constantly drooling/lusting after the cop she just met. I would have preferred their relationship to build around a solid basis of friendship and trust over the course of several stories.

I look forward to Charli and Brielle's next adventure!

A Wickedly Fun Ride Full of Magic, Mystery, and Tacos!

“Witches and Fairies and Tacos... Oh My” is the kind of book that makes you wish you lived in a world where talking cows give warnings, fairies drop by unannounced, and sisters can clean like literal magic.

Charli and Brielle are not only delightful characters sassy, smart, and spellbinding but they also feel like the kind of best friends you’d want in your corner when things get weird (and trust me, things do get weird in the best way possible). The mystery was engaging with just the right amount of suspense, and I loved how the magical elements were woven naturally into the plot. The wind whispering warnings? Yes, please. A water sprite hijacking? Unexpected and hilarious.

And then there's the swoon-worthy deputy... I mean, who doesn’t want a blue-eyed, badge-wearing hero showing up just in time?

Carol Kilgore balances the quirky and the mysterious perfectly. Her Texas setting adds flavor both literally and figuratively (the taco references are A+). It’s cozy, fun, and absolutely enchanting from start to finish.

If you love stories that blend humor, heart, mystery, and a dash of witchcraft, this book will absolutely charm you. I can't wait to see what magical mayhem Charli and Brielle stir up next!

The Quinn sisters own a cleaning service in which they not only clean their clients' houses but also the negative energy in their lives. Charli and Brielle each have their own powers, and they work together well. When one of their clients' husbands are found murdered, the sisters work together with a handsome deputy and some magical friends to unravel the mystery before someone else is hurt. Yet have they gotten themselves into a situation that not even their magic can save them from?

This is the first book in the fun and light-hearted paranormal mystery series, the House Witches Mystery. This is pure clean fun and whimsy. While we get narratives from both of the Quinn sisters, the story mostly focuses on Charli. She's the younger of the two and has a huge heart. She learns more about herself and her powers, and falls for a gorgeous deputy. There are a lot of layers to the mystery in the small Texas town, and I had no idea where the plot was going to take me. I loved the wonderful magical moments like with the fairies in the boy's garden and talking to the cows.

E-book

I like cozy witch stories. Like Samantha on Bewitched. She twitched her nose and the kitchen was clean. That is my type of witch. But these twin sisters are stronger than that. They pray, weave amulets, and can physically cause magic to happen. This all happens at the beginning of the book. I decided if the book stayed at this level, I could enjoy the story. I’m not into black magic stuff. Ick!

This is a good little murder mystery story. It held my interest on every page. The characters were great. There is a little bit of closed-door romance that was fun to imagine. The only evil in the story was a murderous non-witch. Recommend.

I enjoyed the way the author had the two sister interacting with each other. Brielle & Charli Quinn the two sister have a great relationship with each other and also with their family and friends. The girls seem to know what the other is thinking all the time. If you enjoy a great cozy mystery this series is just great. I have already read the second book in the series and can't wait for the third book to come out.

Oh My Goodness, What a Great Story

I love the magical premise of this series. It was also very easy to fall in love with Brielle and Charli. The love story of Charli and Doug did not detract from the mystery. And the mystery was interesting. I am definitely looking forward to more.

Witches and house cleaning

Charli and her sister run a house cleaning service. It’s not like any house cleaning you’ve ever seen they clean the house of bad energy but I do clean the house also. And this one one of their clients husband is murdered and they have to figure out who did it before it’s too late. It’s pretty good book for a first book looking forward to the second.

Do you believe in witches or wise women?

Good for teen or adult. No harsh language or sex. Two sisters who aren't supposed to be witches use their talent to quietly help others. They clean, cleanse, assess and harmonize homes. Along the way to solving a murder you're introduced to family and friends, maybe a fairy or four as well.

Charli and Brielle are fabulous characters. They. come from a family where 'normal' isn't your usual type of normal at all. They both have extra senses that help them in their business and their personal lives.
The story is full of mystery, intrigue, and smiles - I had a hard time putting it down!

Pure Entertainment

I wasn't sure about this book at first but so glad I got it. For a cozy mystery, it has all the bases covered; quirky sisters, new romance, murder mystery, an innocent child, and danger.

Witches or not

I love the relationship between Charli and Brielle. It was fun learning about herbs and crystals. The story moves smoothly and ticks every box for me. Doug is the perfect match and I hope Brielle finds her soon. Where can I sign up to be a client?

Tacos?

This was a fun read. The story was interesting and the sisters have a different way of looking at their magic. I was a bit surprised by the love at first sight move, but it’s a story not meant to be real.
