Varsity Dads #3

The Baby Blitz

Rate this book
A sexy, enemies-to-lovers, brother’s best friend romance from USA Today bestselling author Lex Martin.

Two pink lines won’t change the bad blood between us.

I haven’t always hated my brother’s best friend, but Michael Oliver gets under my skin and brings out the worst in me. He knows how to push my buttons, and I relish pushing all of his. He betrayed my trust years ago, so I’ve made it my mission in life to aggravate him until he admits he was wrong.

When his sister’s wedding brings us together, Michael suggests a truce for one night. If only he weren’t so handsome and smart, maybe I could resist the allure, but I’ve always been a little impulsive, and this man is my ultimate temptation. After years of pent-up frustration and unrequited lust, I finally let down my guard, and that’s all it takes for us to combust.

But like all bad decisions, the morning after brings a reckoning, and I leave his hotel room swearing to never waste another moment of my time pining after him. Who needs that grumpy jerk warming her bed? Not me.

I don’t let myself think about that steamy night together, or how it pained me to hear about his football injury, or how much I know he wants to get drafted so he can help his family. Because I’m cutting Michael out of my life for good.

Only the two little pink lines mean I can’t forget him. Even if I desperately want to.

The Baby Blitz features a college football player and the feisty girl next door, the one he swore he’d never make a move on. One-click if you enjoy steamy enemies-to-lovers romances with lots of angst and humor. This is a companion standalone to The Varsity Dad Dilemma and Tight Ends & Tiaras.

Terrific new adult sports romance with a twist!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😔😃😤🥰😘

The heroine: Magnolia Morales (a.k.a. Maggie) - she had a crush on her brother, Sebastian’s best friend Olly since she was young. Though when she was a junior in high school, she got over it, by falling for their other friend Luke. But when Luke broke up with her, Maggie overheard them talking and found out that Olly told Luke she was cheating on him. She also found out that Olly has a pretty low opinion of her, and she vowed to get back at him no matter what. And she did get back at him in so many ways. The two haven’t gotten along since.

The Hero: Michael Oliver (a.k.a. Olly) - he is now a senior in college, and he injured his ACL while playing football, damaging his chances for being drafted to the NFL. Though he does have one more season of eligibility to show he can be back to full strength it means playing since he didn’t play football his freshman year. He is not quite sure what to do since his family could really use the money he would get from being drafted.

The Story: Maggie is now a junior in college, and she is struggling to pay all of her bills. She helps pay her mom’s rent and for the special diet her autistic sister eats. Her brother Bash is a senior in college who is going on to law school afterwards, so she figure’s he can help out once he is a lawyer. She also inherited an old victorian house from her uncle. She loves that house and wouldn’t sell it, she is trying to renovate it, though she isn’t very good at it, and it is much more expensive than she expected, and the property taxes are as well.

I have to admit, sometimes when I read books like this, I can really see the benefit of those billionaire romance books. It is a bit depressing when the main characters are as poor as I sometimes am. I get enough of that kind of depression every time I look at my credit card and student loan balances. I almost put this book down because of that especially knowing from the blurb and title that this heroine gets pregnant, and their situation gets even worse.

The characters are definitely likable. I was afraid after reading the blurb and the initial quote at the start of the book, from Taming of a Shrew that Maggie might be a bit of a shrew herself. However, she wasn’t at all. I do also love the “wedding hook-up” trope and the “pregnant from a one-night stand” trope. I was never too fond of the “brother’s best friend” trope. Though, that doesn’t play all that big of a part in this book. I ended up really liking this one and staying up nearly all night on a work night to finish it.

Ah Lex Martin! This series just keeps getting sweeter and more charming. Who would have thought that a surprise baby-themed college sports series would be so deliciously addictive- but each book has gotten better and better! The Baby Blitz is so sweet and charming, a sublime blend of angst, a little drama, feeling, and the right dash of tension. I gobbled it up like candy!

And, for the first in the series, we have an actual on-page pregnancy and all the fun that comes from watching two enemies-to-lovers former friends figure out how to be together AND do all the pregnancy milestones. I just loved Olly and Maggie! OLLY. My goodness what a lovable book boyfriend. This guy is just all heart -he’s so sincere. He’s sweet and devoted and just so damn earnest- he’s trying his best, and even though sometimes he can’t juggle it all, his heart is so damn pure. He’s irresistibly charming and incredibly lovable- a total swoony dreamboat. And that dirty mouth! And Maggie- I related to her so fiercely. She’s got a lot on her plate- trying to help her family, pursue her dream, all while trying to make that hard life transition from college student to full fledge adult. But she’s already so responsible and independent. She struggles to ask for help from others, to speak up when she’s drowning, and oh my, did I feel that so hard. She’s the kind of altruistic hard worker who will literally be suffocating from all that is weighing on her but smiling on the surface, and I loved that she found a hero that respected her autonomy and independence while also gently and respectfully getting her to lean on others, to accept help and support. And I loved how Olly and their friends show up for her even when she didn't ask for it. She’s both lovable and likable as a heroine, and while I wanted her to be more demanding about her needs, I really understood how she was so hesitant to demand or even ask for others to sacrifice for her when she’s so used to taking care of others.

What I loved about BOTH of these characters and their chemistry is how it’s tinged with a real maturity. Yes, they have some silly past juvenile drama, but in the present, they are level-headed, ambitious, and responsible adults. Both are hard workers, understanding, rationale and thoughtful, basically the antithesis of the “college romance” character trope. They deeply care about each other, openly acknowledge their mistakes, take responsibility for the actions they take, and even when they have angst or tense moments, they are both quick to redirect themselves and see it from the other’s viewpoint. It was so refreshing to not have them spiral in the drama, and it made watching their relationship evolve all the more rich and enjoyable. Not to mention, HOLY HELL do these two have some sexual chemistry.

Fair warning, if you aren’t a fan of the miscommunication trope with some OW drama (she’s not real threat and that’s clear, but she does cause issues for her characters), just know those tropes play out a bit here. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve liked these tropes less and less, but I found them to work here because of these characters’ core issue- that they have to figure out how to trust each other and communicate. First friends, then enemies, and now unexpected partners and blossoming lovers, they have to somehow figure out how to be partners in this crazy parenting journey in the present while also overcoming their past insecurities and distrust about each other. Both of them have made some real mistakes, and again, open communication and trust ARE their core issue- but they both know it. They both are working on it, getting better at sharing their needs or concerns, and even better, getting better at nudging the other when they’re shut down. And their challenges are to be expected- like SO much is throwing them off. Both struggling financially, are supporting their families, have careers at risk by their accidental pregnancy, are overcoming recent life or athletic setbacks…and now they are going to be parents to a baby with their former enemy and ALL the life change and family tensions that’s going to create. So, miscommunication is the core of their journey, but in a more realistic and relatable way and not so much in the silly tween drama way. And, both characters are so likable and normally any tensions are resolved so quickly and so sweetly, that even if these aren’t your fav plot conventions, this story might still be for you.

I’ve loved our prior characters, and we get some nice snippets with them, but I also love how Lex doesn’t focus TOO hard on the ensemble and keeps the focus on our couple….isolating them is key to them working through their issues and figuring out how to redefine their relationship after years of animosity. And we have some newer side characters I enjoyed. And if you’ve not read the first two, this one (which is my favorite of the three) will be super easy to fall into without any context.

Loving this series and SO excited for the story that’s next!

3.5 ✨ The way the miscommunication trope was used not once but 3 times really had me ready to dnf this. But I’m a sucker for the surprise pregnancy trope and for some reason I like this cheesy series so it is what it is. 🥹

In love.. That’s me with the story and the characters after every book by Lex Martin, and it wasn’t any different with The Baby Blitz. I started it as soon as it landed on my kindle and it was so difficult to put down, because I was hooked. The Baby Blitz was addicted, hot, sporty, adorable and emotional. It’s so, so, so good. I went through all the emotions. This book had me grinning like a fool and laughing out loud so many times that I lost count, but it also broke my heart at times. The Baby Blitz had everything I wanted in a book, but also what I needed at the time.

Maggie and Olly are lovable and adorable characters. I was already in love with them in the previous books, but I fell even harder for them in this book. Maggie is strong, reliable, kindhearted, hardworking, creative, friendly, busy, determined and funny. She loves her family and friends, and she’s close to them. She would do anything for them, even though she is struggling herself. Maggie is going to college, working in a company and renovating her house, so a baby wasn’t on her mind nor wasn’t the plan. And definitely not a baby with Olly.

Olly is the best! He is sporty, sweet, determined, friendly, hot, kindhearted, strong and hardworking. Football is his world and he’s working super hard to go pro after he had a knee injury. He wants the money to help his family. His family means everything to him and he helps them wherever, whenever he can, but it never feels enough. His priorities start shifting when Maggie tells him some big news and secrets. Olly loves spending time with Maggie and he likes what he finds out about her.

Maggie and Olly are amazing together. Olly is so sweet and patient with Maggie. He is what she needs. Maggie understands Olly’s love for football and his need to go pro. She supports him. Maggie and Olly will be a solid, beautiful and hot couple. Sparks fly between them, but their past holds them back sometimes. They do their best to make it work and to trust each other, so there isn’t much drama in their relationship and I loved that.

The Baby Blitz is an amazing addition to the (standalone) series. I really liked seeing the previous couples and how they are right now. All the friendships are beautiful, solid and funny. I met a new character whom I like very much. I’m over the moon that this series isn’t stopping with this book. I can’t wait for the next Lex Martin novel to fall in love with!

Varsity Dads series
The Varsity Dad Dilemma — 3.5 stars
Tight Ends & Tiaras — 4 stars
>>The Baby Blitz — 3.5? stars

Okay…

Olly has been an early favorite of mine since tVDD/Varsity Dads #1. A little nerdy & sweet, yet fits right in at the Stallion Station (Lone Star State football team’s off campus house).

Magnolia was teased just enough to where she definitely had my curiosity in TE&T/Varsity Dads #2. I liked her feisty spirit & she was a good new friend to Sienna. But what really grabbed my curiosity wondering how someone could dislike Olly of all the LSS boys.

Unfortunately, like most romances marketed as ETL as of late, the ETL was pretty much over before it started. They still had their spats as the cards were ever stacking up against them, but that’s stressful situations, not actual ETL animosity & reluctant chemistry.

I liked both Olly & Magnolia pretty well & never wavered in wanting them together. Sure, I could’ve done w/o some of the hair-triggered temper tantrums, but they’re young & really were under so much pressure in their own ways & together. It wasn’t outlandish they wouldn’t be able to keep their cool ALL the time. It was human. Although one late instance crossed over to a bit too plot-driven for me, aka angst only for the sake of angst. Or at least I’d like to think Olly’s character established by this point would have had a better sense of the situation considered 🤷🏻‍♀️. So I’m choosing not to give that moment too much weight in my overall opinion of Olly. I just could’ve done without that situation or rather have Olly catch himself before it escalated so much.

Honestly, neither of those were too significant as negatives go for me. Tbh the hitch here with The Baby Blitz/Varsity Dads #3 that has me stuck at a 3.5 star read probably has more to do with having read the previous 2 books. True, TBB deviates from the previous installments somewhat as Olly falls for his baby mama & gets to experience her pregnancy, but TBB still seems to feel like we did this dance before, just with different names. So my previously expressed concerns over the series trope theme(surprise baby) have proved to be founded, unfortunately. It’s not that I have a particular dislike of the trope, but more so SB is too specific of a trope for my taste to repeat over & over again in one series.

TBB could’ve also used a little tightening up editing-wise. It felt a tad long winded in a few places, causing a some lulls. Had 40 pages(-ish, give or take a few) been nixed, it would flow better for me.

Had it not been for those two hangups(the repetitiveness of a quite specific trope especially imho), I think certain moments in Olly & Magnolia’s romance would’ve hit me differently. More impactful. I would’ve felt more fully invested. So honestly, if you REALLY love the surprise baby trope & can’t get enough or haven’t read the previous two books in the series or don’t find this trope too specific as I do to repeat in a single series, I think there’s a very good chance you will get more enjoyment out of it than I was able to. Cause the nutshell of this long winded(🫣) review is that The Baby Blitz probably is at least a little bit better(maybe a lot better 🤷🏻‍♀️) book than where my opinion ended up being & I just wish my hangups would’ve gotten out of my way a little more.

“Can I lick this pretty pussy?” A gentleman always asks.

Michael Oliver... I swear, each guy Lex gives us sets the swoon factor just a little higher than the one before. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders but strives to do everything he can for his family...

Which now includes his best friend’s younger sister. Who he accidentally knocks up after their years long animosity with each other turns into a night of lust-fueled orgasms... Oops.

Miscommunication is definitely a running theme. I was tempted to put a tuna fish sandwich in both of their cars a time or two. For the love of football, just talk to each other!

Oh, and remember Olly's ex Amelia from Tight Ends & Tiaras?? She's back and just as unpleasant as ever, though she does have her uses sometimes.

I admire Magnolia for being so strong and independent, regarding everything from her house to the pregnancy, but Olly fighting for her is straight up a book boyfriend wet dream. Even with everything he's worked so hard for on the line, he wants to be the man Maggie needs. They are just so damn good for each other.

This is the most emotional book so far. I love that we get to go through the pregnancy this time, and experience the fear and worry and joy along with them. It's really a beautiful story of love and never giving up.

Spice, drama, banter... Lex is 3 for 3 with 5 star reviews for this series and I can't wait for the next Varsity Dad!

In case I ever forget, this talented writer reminds me of what I love about a good college sports romance, and this series is one of my all-time favorites. Her new adult romances have plenty of drama and emotion, but the characters – while young – are strong, compassionate, and admirable. I have yet to find any of the selfish immaturity I’ve seen in other romances of this kind.

Maggie and Olly spent some of their growing up years together since Olly was Maggie's brother's best friend. Somewhere along the way, their relationship developed into one long series of pranks on each other. So much so that the reader either sees they truly hate each other or suspects there’s something more simmering just below the surface.

At Olly's sister’s wedding, he and Maggie agree to a truce of sorts which ends up with them spending some unexpected quality alone time together. Just when it looks like the tide may be changing between them, a misunderstanding sends Maggie running back to their college town alone. But eventually, she'll have to face Olly and tell him that their one night together resulted in a lifetime commitment.

Oh my heart, I love these two and their story so much! They’re both authentic and relatable, with just enough vulnerability to steal your heart forever. They both have a strong sense of family and have no problem expanding that concept to include friends and football mates who love and support them. I really adore Maggie, but Olly is the one who had me falling helmet over cleats without even realizing it.

Sweet, steamy, humorous and charming, this one hits all the right notes to make it an evocative, heartwarming, satisfying read. Sports romance fan or not, I dare you to read this one and not fall for these amazing characters!

.
I was really looking forward to this book as it is the first one in the series where we were going to get to see the main couple actually go through the pregnancy... yet a lot of the moments I was really looking forward to were missing or skimmed over.
.
For alot of this book the couple weren't around each other and when they were it felt very sex focused, which there is nothing wrong with, and i love me some spice in a book, but there wasn't really much focus on relationship building between the MCs or the pregnancy when they were together within the story.
.
Some of what I feel is necessary for a pregnancy trope book was missing, we were told about the scan revealing the babies' genders AFTER the fact and weren't taken on that journey with the MCs and that seemed to happen alot throughout the story. For a pregnancy story, there wasn't a lot of actually SEEING the couple go through the pregnancy together, which is kinda the entire point of a pregnancy trope story, in my opinion.
.
So because of that I just didn't feel as connected to the story or characters as I have with the previous books in this series, which is such a shame because this had the potential to be more than it was

This is the third book in the Varsity Dads series and it a enemies to lovers, brothers best friend romance that will have you gripped. This is an emotional read that you will love. I love all the tropes inside this book and the way that this authors writes really pulls you in, EPIC.

Olly and Maggie have known each other for a long time but now after so long the communication between them both is not good. They were frenemies at one point and they have both got so much going on but they now have something huge to deal with and they both need to put any old worries behind them and finally get along.

This hot and steamy read is a great read and this author has brought these characters to life on the page perfectly. There is a lot of drama but there is also a lot of banter between these two which I loved. I really enjoyed reading about these characters and the chemistry they have is intense. I really rooted for them both to work things out because their lives are about to change forever. I love the way that this author writes and she did not disappoint with this hot one. This book will have your emotions all over the place and once you start turning the pages you wont be able to stop, I highly recommend this series.

By Lex Martin

Rating: ⭐️5/5

I love Maggie & Olly

More than worth the wait. I anticipated this book for what feels like forever. Simply because I love her books. Her stories. The story of Magnolia and Michael, or Rather known as Mags and Olly promised to be an interesting one.

And indeed it is. Formerly childhood friends turned enemies turned lovers.

Their history never was easy. Through lots and lots of misunderstandings, hurt feelings and the lack of communication they didn't get along for years.

That changes at a wedding both attend, and suddenly both give in to their attraction to one another.

What turns into two pink lines and the beginning of something that could be incredible, but is not at first.

Confronted with a reality that contains struggles to make ends meet, achieve their goals and help their families. Life lays hurdle after hurdle in their path.

Determined to do the right thing, and right by the other Magge and Olly load even more on their plates.

Him, first goal to go pro and her, not being in the way of making that happen.

So while in doing so, setting the other at first position and trying not to be a burden but a supporter, they overdue sometimes.

Of course they got it right in the end and despite having a hard way to the happy end, for me they did it great.

I was a little annoyed with a few people, family members mostly, but it shows only how real this story was.

Not always is it only sunshine and rainbows, we struggle, we fight and have to find a way through the thing called life and love. That, I loved. Not every problem gets resolved with a finger snip. We have to work for our solutions, and can be proud to make it happen.

I truly love Olly. He is caring, loving and determined to always do the right thing. Perfect book boyfriend material. Magnolia too, is a caring and responsible person. I love her sassy way.

When we first got to see glimpses of Olly and Maggie I just knew that their story would be one that would not only be fun to watch but intriguing to see how these two enemies at each other’s throats would come together. Maggie started despising Olly in high school when he got in her business and ruined her relationship, so over the years they always butted heads and Maggie came up with som epic pranks. One night when everything is laid on the table and these two finally let their guards down things start to change for them and Maggie realizes her crush on Olly never truly went away, but with so much history between them could anything ever come of it? The way these two went around each other fighting one second to looks of adoration the next and with the twist of the twins thrown in the mix this story took us on such a realistic emotional ride of becoming parents, the struggles, the other people getting in their way, and so on. Once Maggie and Olly finally got themselves together both had a lot on their plates, but watching as they struggled together and handled everything made my heart happy. This series is one that has stole my heart and I can’t wait to see where we go from here.

This series keeps getting better and better. I love enemies to lovers and add in sports and I’m sold!

Olly and Maggie have know each other for quite awhile and every time they are together, sparks fly. Too bad the sparks aren’t in a heated passion kind of way. These two can’t get along to save their lives. But when they both are part of a wedding they decide to call a truce. And well… those sparks turn to passion quick! They are left with two pink lines and trying to navigate this new way of life.

I loved how Lex wrote this story and I couldn’t put it down waiting to see what was to come. This is a great series and I hope we get more.

I think my favorite thing about this one was how real it felt. This was two college kids struggling with an unplanned pregnancy. That isn't all sunshine and roses and fairy dust. I really respected that aspect of Olly and Maggie's story. But on top of that they communicated (well now they do there was that one time when they didn't that led them to the enemies portion of their story, lol), they were fun and they were hot. This was such an amazing read. I am obsessed with this series.

There is so much that I absolutely love about The Baby Blitz. Magnolia and Michael, aka Olly, are friends-to-enemies-to-lovers....and oops we're having a baby. Throw in the fact that Olly is a football player, Lex Martin has incorporated some of my favorite tropes.

I feel in love with these two characters. Maggie, so strong and independent, is trying to balance classes, a part time job, and renovating a house she inherited. She is loath to ask for any help, especially from Olly. Their story begins for us while they're in their enemy phase. It's not long before they find themselves sharing a common attraction, and let me tell you their chemistry is off the charts.

Something that really connected me to this book, is that these two and theirs families, are everyday people. People who face the same struggles that many readers face daily. It's like an escape from reality, but it's also something you understand and maybe, just maybe gives you a little hope that Hey! Things maybe aren't as bad as you think and we'll get through this. That's a little deep maybe but that's how I felt reading this book.

The Baby Blitz was incredibly cute. Maggie and Olly go back and forth so much but you still root for them and hope their relationship can survive all of the roadblocks.

Maggie and Olly have never really gotten along but at Olly’s sister’s wedding they call a truce and one thing leads to another. Maggie gets pregnant and they work to make their relationship into something real. They go through so much miscommunication and between pregnancy hormones and Olly’s football schedule it really puts a strain on their relationship. They need to be able to overcome a lot of roadblocks to have a relationship even to just co-parent.

I loved how hard Olly fights for Maggie. They both really try to get past all of the outside drama to be able to have a successful relationship. I appreciated how independent Maggie is and wants to continue to be but that can also lead to her being so stubborn. You really see the love between the two and how they have been in love for longer than they know.

Absolutely LOVED it, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! The spice was just perfect, not over the top but also not non-existent. 🌶🌶🌶

Nothing smarts like a broken heart, right? Well, like she says in the book, revenge is a dish best served cold and she got him back... a few times, lol.

Maggie grew up with Olly, her brother was his best friend and her friend too. And after overhearing something in HS, the friendship definitely ended.

Fast forward to college. They both attend the same one and the animosity between them has not ended. But they agree on a truce and the sparks fly. It was a good read between two people who used to be so close, who now are bonded together in a suprising way. (Or not suprising if you read the blurb or the title!)

Theyre both struggling college students with family comittments who are just trying to make things work.

It was very spicy as well. I can't wait for book 4!

I really adored this book and the characters.
This book is a great friends to enemies, enemies to lovers, surprise pregnancy, and brother's best friend all rolled into one!

Olly and Maggie have such a great story and I enjoyed it so much. Their banter is great but you can also feel the love between these two.

Olly has one goal and can't have any distractions. But Maggie is so much more than that...
Maggie is such a tough character that has so much heart and will do anything for you.

Their is some drama but it makes this story so much of what it is.. You get the UPs and downs and all the things in between!

Tropes
-Enemies to Lovers
-Brothers Best Friend
-Collage Football
-Surprise Baby
-Small Town Romance
-Sports Romance

📸Snapshot: Why I Love The Book📸

-Charaters. Both main characters had depth and showed shades of many emotions. Both had qualities I appreciated and related too. And even though they are in college, they are mature adults trying to figure out life.

-Spice. It was so refreshing to see intimacy happening with a pregnant woman. I don't see that very often in romance books. And IT. WAS. STEAMY!

-Humor. On more than one occasion I laughed at something one of the characters did or said. (Example “I swear to God, you heard Wendy and Ted burning up the sheets.”(MMC Parents!! 🤣)

💥The Full Picture💥

Well Lex Martin has has done it again. She managed to make me fall in love with not only Olly and Maggie but college football, home remodeling and small town Texas!

This is the 3rd book in the Varsity Dad series but can be read as a standalone.
Olly and Maggie's romance was so relatable. Olly is Magnolia's brothers best friend growing up, and over the years they also become friends.
Then Magnolia over hears some comments Olly makes about her and she goes about getting back at him (in the best possible pranking way).
But a few years later they set aside there differences at a wedding and sparks fly.

What I loved about Olly and Maggie was the push and pull of their relationship. They both cared and wanted to be together, but communication issues kept happening. Normally miscommunication conflict irks me, but this felt SO real & relatable.
They knew they needed to communicate better and they kept working at it (which is what you have to do in any long term relationship.)

Also, Olly does some seriously amazing pregnancy care taking and emotional reassuring of Maggie. It was so sweet and romantic.
I also loved how supportive Maggie's mom is when she finds out about the pregnancy. It made me want to call my mom and give her a big hug!
I am so excited for when this comes to audio and for the next book in the series!!
I was sent a free ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

I seriously could go on and on but I will wrap this up with a few of my favorite quotes:

“Women cry all the time. I don’t always understand it. When Sienna’s sad, I feed her, snuggle her, and offer a back massage. Makes her feel better every time.”

His thumb brushes my lower lip, and chills rush up and down my arms. “I’m gonna be really honest, whether or not you’re ready to hear this. I want to be with you, Magnolia, however I can have you. You said you want to go slow and work on being friends, and I’m down with that, but I think we could be so much more together."

“Darlin’, you’re fucking magnificent, pregnant or not pregnant. All it takes is one look at you and I go rock hard. You’re luscious all over, and I love it.” Her tits make me drool. Her ass is so perfectly round, I wanna bite it. I take her hand and place it on my eager dick. “That’s all for you.”

****AVAILABLE NOW****

4 STARS

I really enjoyed these characters and their story. It had a great cast of characters, I enjoyed seeing them balance school, pregnancy and football. I loved Maggie’s strength, Olly was completely swoon worthy, and the HEA was beyond sweet!

There was some dialogue I found a bit cringy, but I overall found it to be highly entertaining. I finished it in a day.

I’m already ready for the next standalone.

this was little too slow and boring. Not much was going on until the second half, and I felt like a lot of the scenes added nothing to the story aside from being filler pages. The chemistry was as dull as dishwasher water. Not to mention my absolutely hated trope– the miscommunication trope– was used.

No surprise Lex Martin has done it again, and that’s no lie!
Since the announcement of The Baby Blitz there was no doubt in my mind this book would not only be a 5⭐️ read, but also a TOP FAV READ of the year for me.
And now having read it, it ended up being true!

Once again Lex delivered in writing a truly amazing story, taking you on a rollercoaster that had you riding through many highs and lows, from the ups and downs that Maggie and Olly were having to navigate their way through.
Whether that be individually or together, it seemed to be endless, particularly when you took in the hurdles and obstacles that were thrown in their paths.
Ultimately leading to an emotionally charged narrative, filled with many elements stemming from the major angsty-ness running through the pages, cases of drama that caused issues from the uproar created.
To a little mystery sprinkled in from not everything being out there in the open, creating suspenseful moments here and there. On top of some surprises thrown in too.
Resulting in a very filling storyline that had you reading from the very beginning, all the way to the very end in the whirlwind that was Maggie and Olly’s life.

Seeing as The Baby Blitz was written in dual POVs, it had Lex openly showcase Maggie and Olly’s characters on many levels.
Being able to dive in deep as can be, opening them up to us, by exposing them on a very real and raw level.
Particularly when you took into account their inner monologue that had Lex baring Maggie and Olly to us on a true inner depth level. The very detailed and real nitty grittiness allowed us to see and hear about their every single thought, view, opinion and feelings, due to the situations and events thrown their way, leading to both dealing with inner turmoil, on top of some inner demons.
Something both Maggie and Olly seemed to deal with in their own different ways.
Honestly with how big the book was, it what’s allowed Lex to not only put her heart and soul into the story.
But also allow her to lay everything out in front of us, so much so that it felt like you were riding on this rollercoaster alongside Maggie and Olly themselves.

The relationship that Maggie and Olly shared was not an easy one, but that’s what made it feel genuine and real.
With their situation and where they started off from to where they were going throughout. It was no surprise they were navigating through major waves with their push and pull and back and forth.
Yet the fact that they never truly gave up or pulled away proved that there was something there between them. And that it couldn’t be ignored.
Even more so when it came to the sexual tension that kept on building between them at times, leading to some explosive steamy moments.

The Baby Blitz ended up being all that and so much more in this emotionally heartfelt, deeply warming, angsty driven, beautiful masterpiece that was Maggie and Olly’s story.
Lex Martin truly came through with delivering yet another successful read from Varsity Dads series.
Truly hats off to Lex with this chefs kiss perfection.

Lots of fun tropes in this one!

1. Brother's best friend
2. Childhood friends
3. Enemies to lovers
4. One night stand
5. surprise baby
6. football romance
7. new adult/college romance

Michael "Olly" Oliver is the hotshot football player, coming off injury to complete his 5th year/senior year to try and make an impressive last season to get drafted to the pros. Magnolia is his best friends younger (by a year) sister who's held a grudge against Olly for years over something she misheard, exacting her revenge on him through the years via a series of anonymous pranks.

Olly and Magnolia are granola type characters; hard workers, salt of the earth, loyal to a fault and you can't help but cheer them on and want what's best for them because of these qualities. They definitely have the hate to love you chemistry and I appreciated how thoughtful Olly tried to be throughout. Unfortunately they both have sharp tongues when they are angry. The conflict that repeatedly occurs throughout is miscommunication. It's this that causes their initial dislike of each other and 95% of their other issues. The other 5% is withholding info to try and protect someone.

The pacing was perfect and the action level kept me wanting to read which makes the book easy to read. Lex Martin books are great in that regard, I never get bored, she always keeps my wanting to read on.

I have to say, one of my favorite characters was the antagonist, Olly's ex, Amelia. LOL! I like to think by the end of the book she had partially redeemed herself but I really wouldn't be opposed to getting her story. Hint, hint, nudge, nudge, Lex :)

***5 Stars***

I knew that this one would be intense. But man, Maggie and Olly were a trip. But I kept turning those pages because even when they made my eyes hurt from all the rolling, I still needed to see how they would end up working everything out and I was not disappointed in anyway.

It was hard to not love and adore Maggie and Olly. Both have a lot on their plates and I’m honestly impressed with how determined they are to reach their goals. They love and adore their families and will do all that is in their power to be there for them.

Their journey to their HEA is a rocky one…and that’s before the “surprise! You’re going to be parents” thing happen. Assumptions, lack of communication and just standard chaotic teenage emotions have plague their relationship and add in pregnancy hormones…well, all bets are off. But I loved watching them deal with their past issues and work at being true friends and adults as they get ready to become parents. The road blocks in their journey, outside of themselves, were many, but in the end, I liked how they worked through them all and got the HEA they deserved.

This was a fun read. The pacing was good and I just liked how everything played out between Maggie and Olly and there was a good balance of drama, humor, heat and heart. It was great catching up with Sienna and Ben and Kayla was awesome, but I gotta say, I’m all in to read about both Johnny and Sebastian finding that one girl they won’t be able to live without, so toes are crossed for those!

“How much more do you want to be?” Everything, Magnolia. I want to be everything to you.”

The Baby Blitz is an accidental pregnancy, college football romance about Oliver and Maggie. After Maggie overhears Olly messing up her life in high school, it starts her hatred for him and pranks against him. Tensions rise at a wedding and they finally give in, eventually to be shocked to learn they are pregnant- with twins.

Olly and Maggie now have to navigate through a pregnancy after years of not liking each other. They agree to focusing on the pregnancy first and their feelings second, but they eventually realize they like each other too much to ignore. Olly has a lot on his plate and tries to have it all. Maggie of course feels very overwhelmed by her pregnancy and feels a little lost at times. They have to work on plenty of issues both individually and as a couple.

I love accidental pregnancy stories and enemies to lovers is another of my favorite tropes. I thought this was a fun, cute read and I liked the college football element. There was a lot of back and forth between Maggie and Olly has they navigate finances, pregnancy, living situations, family situations, and ex drama. The plot felt a little scattered at times and I would get frustrated over some immature choices they made, but it eventually works out for them at the end. The cute pregnancy moments and their relationship development throughout the story was exciting.

The Baby Blitz is the third book in Lex Martin's incredible Varsity Dads series and is Magnolia and Olly's addictive enemies to lovers, accidental pregnancy romance that has all the feels!
When Olly and Maggie were kids, even though Olly was Maggie's brother's best friend it didn't stop her from developing a massive crush on him but nothing ever happened between them as Olly only saw Maggie as a little sister. Or so she thought! After overhearing a conversation she shouldn't have the friendship between Olly and Maggie and her crush are long forgotten and an all out war has taken it's place.
Several years of pranks, arguments and general dislike of each other later, when it comes time for Olly's sister's wedding where Olly is a groomsman and Maggie is a bridesmaid, it throws them together for the majority of the day and the chemistry that has always been there comes flooding to the surface and they spend an amazing night together. Thinking this is the start of something, Olly and Maggie are both surprised and hurt that after their incredible night together, they could so easily go back to ignoring each other.
A few weeks later and when the truth is revealed about those silent weeks after the wedding and a positive pregnancy test changes everything. Could this be the push Olly and Magnolia need to explore whatever this is between them and become a family?
"no matter how at odds we've been over the years, this baby is special to me because it's a part of you."
Read The Baby Blitz now to find out if Olly and Maggie can make things work!
I LOVED, LOVED The Baby Blitz so much! I could not put it down and when I HAD to I couldn't stop thinking about this book and these amazing characters and I couldn't help but count down the time until I could pick it back up again! Olly and Magnolia have become my favourite Lex Martin couple to date, which I didn't think Lex could knock Rider and Gabby off of my top spot but she did! The Baby Blitz was so full of angst but it had so much love in it too, which made the most perfect story. I cannot wait for the next book in this addictive series which I know without a doubt I'll be rereading soon.
I received an arc of The Baby Blitz and I am voluntarily leaving my review.

I totally forgot that this had cane out. I had read the other two in the series and absolutely loved them. I was waiting for this one's release and then forgot. I adored it. Perfect plot and flow. Loved that it was a long one. The pregnancy, sports romance, friends to enemies to lovers was perfect. The miscommunication was done great and was angst but not annoying as it us in some. It didn't have hardcore groveling well kind of but I was satisfied. The drama was hilarious especially with Vanessa and Amelia but angst. Olly and Maggie are so good together. And the babies were adorable. I just loved this book. I'm looking forward to more releases by this author.

I absolutely cannot get enough of these Varsity Dads!! I was so excited we were getting Olly's story next and it did not disappoint one bit. I loved everything about Magnolia and the tension and push and pull she had with Olly was off the charts! Frenemies to lovers was such a good story and I adored every second I got lost in another Lone Star State book. I can't wait for the next one from Ms. Martin! (5 stars)
