Her mother is petrified someone will hang her for the witch's scar on her back, but her mark is far from wicked. Haesel faces uncertainty as evil lurks in the mountain mist. Great story
This was a wonderful story of Haesel and Simeon. Haesel's mom always told her she was a witch. She didn't believe it but the only thought her mark was a birthmark.
A Christmas of nightmares would come upon Haesels family and tragedy would strike.
Thankfully, Simeon was there to save her. Than the next house where they saved the children Jon and Mable.
They had a journey of discovery in this story about finding out who you truly were and coming to grips that an angel could love a half demon. That there was good in him.
This was a sweet story and sounds like there's more to come!

Given is written with a dream-like quality, like all the Marked By Angels stories, and evokes feelings of a dark fairytale. There are angels and demons, love and hope, and good and evil. The words flow in a poetic way that delights and then horrifies with the turn of a phrase. Given is a spell-binding read!

Book Review for Given: A Marked by Angels Novella by KC Bellinger
Haesel lives in the backcountry of Tennessee. One Christmas her life changes drastically as she is informed of what the marking on her back means. Her mother always told her it would keep her from finding a happy life.
But all that changes when she meets Simeon. He comes to the rescue of her and some neighbor children, albeit a little too late. They instantly fall in love and look towards the future and the little family they have gathered around them.
But forces are always working against them.
I found this story to be very rushed. It is a YA telling of Angels and Demons. It is part of a series but they can be read as a stand alone. The characters were not very well developed and the storyline did not flow. It could be an interesting installment in a grander scheme.
