Alternative cover edition of ASIN B0B51W7XHN

The ruler of the world has stolen me. He wants me by his side as his possession, as his salvation, as his bride. He offers me everything.

I will offer only destruction.

The five men who love me are on the run—fleeing for their lives so they can save mine. Nothing will stop the Emperor from hunting them down, and nothing will stop my lovers from rescuing me.

If I can survive that long. Because in the court of a madman, nothing is real.

I am once again a slave, this time to the whims of a ruler who longs for immortality. He claims I’ll crave him once my lovers are dead, but I will never give in. My Inertia is true, but so is my heart, and it will never belong to him.

There’s one place in this world we might be safe and beyond the Emperor’s reach, but I already know he’ll never stop hunting. Because to a man who wants to be a god? I am the only prize.

4.8 stars.
Still loving everything about this series. Which is a miracle for me.
Love that we got the guys’ POVs in this book, and I’m hoping that continues into the next.

I’m also crossing my fingers and hoping that everything gets fixed by the end of this last book or I’m gonna be so so disappointed…
Ugh. That cliffhanger was gut wrenching.

The first book in this series was one of the most intense books I have ever read. It also had a horrible cliffhanger, so I was incredibly glad when I got an e-mail with an arc so I could continue reading. Although the world in this book is incredibly cruel, it's also incredibly interesting and rich. I was therefore really excited to see more of the world, the characters and of course the impossible situation the characters are in.

The book picks up where the previous book ended and I was quite surprised how long it took for things to get better again for our characters. A lot of romance novels have the tendency to fix cliffhangers and issues as soon as possible, but this book didn't. Everything the characters had to endure in this book really fit the world we have gotten to know in the first book and the characters in positions of power we have met in the first book.

Since the world in this book is cruel and since we are spending a lot of time with the emperor in his castle, this book is quite heavy and intense, but in a good way. However, it's a really good idea to read the trigger warnings in this book and to really make sure you're okay with them. We all know that eventually things will get better for our characters, but it's clear that until then things can get a lot worse and will get worse.

Because once more Sinclair invented a horrible cliffhanger, but also a cliffhanger that made me really curious about the next book and what's waiting for our heroes and our heroine. I also hope that maybe our heroes might get a little plot for themselves. So far they mostly exist as love interests and everything they do is for our heroine, which is amazing and she deserves it, but I'd love her men to become more than that.

I have my fingers crossed!

Captured is the second book in the Inertia series by Devyn Sinclair and it was such a fabulous read. The story has such fantastic characters and at times was so heart-wrenching, I had all the feels.

Safiya has been taken by Malum, the Khasar (king), and is suffering terribly at the madman's hand. She's a slave once again forced to do what the king wants but she's hanging on. Saf is a survivor and has the love of her men, it's what keeps her going. The king can't keep her down, Saf is defiant in every way she can and she does so with dignity and grace.

Meanwhile, Saf isn't the only one suffering. The guys are deeply in with love Safiya, it's the kind of love that's written about (hence this book) and it's even more apparent in this book, they express it with words and actions, in every single breath they take. They are willing to do anything and risk everything to free her. It's the little moments in this book that make my heartache, how much they miss each other, and the memories, and suffering all gets to me in so many ways.

It was really interesting finally seeing the king, the man that conquered a continent and caused devastation, death, and so much grief. He was everything I expected, power-hungry, sadistic, and a whole lot crazy. To see his court and all the nobles who believe all the lies he sprouts was pretty much what I expected. One of my favorite things about this book was that the guys got their own chapters in this book, I loved seeing things from their perspectives, knowing their feelings firsthand, traveling across the land, getting some history, and once again going to these sacred ancient sites.

Of course, Captured was fantastic, the guys are swoon-worthy, Safiya is a strong leading character, and the plot is super good even if it destroyed my emotions. Things go from bad to worse for Safiya and the guys, just went they take a step forward the get pushed ten steps back. They're also gaining more problems along the way because Mallum isn't the only problem they are gonna have to face. Captured ended on a stunning cliffhanger and I can't wait for the next book, I can't wait to get Consumed.

At the end of book one we were left on a cliffhanger, so book two Captured picks right up where we left off.

Safiya has been captured by the Khasar Malum, he is in search of more power. He believes that once Safiya becomes his wife and they are bound to each other that he will be on the path to immortality. He uses Safiya to exhaustion trying to find the Lorem that betrayed him.

This book had multiple POV’s and we get a small glance into the Lorem’s journey to find a way to get Safiya back.

Mor, Roan, Kestrel, Tristan and Adrian eventually rescue Safiya but are devastated that they did not get to her in time because the Khasar Malum has bound himself to Safiya.

They are on the run trying to reach the bordering country of Aur Kota to seek asylum but once there the welcome is not what they expected. Again we get left on a very tense cliffhanger.

Let me start by saying the title of the book is very much suitable.
Safiya is incredible and she's even more amazing in this book! Her strength despite the struggles she goes throw and has gone throw is inspiring and even more so in this book.
The world the book is on is amazing and the devotion of the characters to each is unmatched. The guys are also the sweetest to her, despite everything.
The ending though! I DID NOT see that coming!

Captured is the second book in Devyn Sinclair’s Inertia series, and for those who’ve read book one, you’re not going to want to miss out on book two.
Book two picks up where book one left off, Safiya has been taken by Malum. Their greatest fear has just come true in one form, but there are many more to come or that could possibly come true. But the group of lovers has been separated and Malum intends to keep her for himself. He wants the old Lorem hunted down, but since they were the strongest, second only to him, can this feat be accomplished? Safiya lives in fear of what the future holds, but she’s not without help. Only time will tell what Fate holds in store for them.
Captured is engaging from beginning to end. In my opinion, it’s better than book one. This book is more intense as it all becomes a race against time. The men know that any number of things could be happening to Safiya. They also know that Malum is hunting them or will be. So what options do they have? Well, there is one, but it will seem that the guys don’t really think things through all the way. You’ll see what I mean.
This story is engaging from beginning to end, but I would have liked the playing field a bit more interesting. I wanted some stronger adversaries to be dispatched, it would have added more drama. The ending has an interesting twist though and I’m eager to see how it plays out – I’m just hopeful that it’s not for show and transitions into something else in book three.
I’m rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I’m eager for the next book in this series.

Once you have tasted freedom after such a long time of being diminished into nothing, one could only hope to grip their newfound freedom and cherish every moment as it might be your last. Safiya is yet again in the clutches of the Khasar and he is determined that he will own her - body, heart and soul. The separation between her and the Lorem is heartbreaking and the detailed description of their suffering was beautifully done.
I am interested to see where their journey would take them as Safiya is no longer a scared Inert and she will do anything within her power to be with those that mean the world to her.

This is a fab continuation of the story and it really took me on an exciting reading ride. We get to see of this fascinating world, and the mad king, but sadly things get waaaay worse for Saf and it was quite heart-wrenching to read. There is more to come for this intense story (come on October!) and I'm really hoping we start to see some lightening of the plot for these wonderful characters ;D

Darker and captivating

As expected, this book is darker than the first one. Safiya has been captured by the Khasar, Malum. She misses the guys, keeps hoping that they will come saving her but has to deal with Malum psycho behaviour. He uses Safiya to gain more power and dominance on his land, and ever Safiya is an Inert without limit, she slowly began to fade.

The book ends on a cliffhanger and it's clearly not the end of the problem for Safiya and her guys...
To be continued!

a tad slow but building to the end

Spice: 2/5

This book was a tad slow for my liking, but we are building up for the end so I expect it to pick up in the final book

Made it 74% of the way through book 2, and I was like, what am I doing?
Skimming pages upon pages of navel-gazing and longing, apparently.

I’m happy for you though.
Or sorry that happened.

Book 2 significantly less interesting than Book 1.

The ending of the previous book was devastating. To have Safiya in Malum's clutches is the exact thing the Lorem were trying to avoid. I have to admit, I expected a lot more to happen while Safiya was stuck with Malum since she had already gone through so many difficulties with other kaló since she was enslaved. However, in his own messed up way, Malum cherished Safiya…not as a person, of course not, but more like a prize he won. Something to keep shiny and on display. I would have thought for sure he would have tortured her in any way possible but she was relatively safe. Worn down and emotionally dead, yes, but safe. Sinking deeper than she ever did before, she kept herself safe, giving up on herself but not on the Lorem, who she knew would return to rescue her in time.

This book moved a bit slower than the first book, and despite what anyone thinks, great plans take time. It's expected when there is such a powerful opponent, that bringing him down or outwitting him won't be done by just winging it. The Lorem took their time to make sure everything was perfect in order to get Safiya back. The wait was well worth it and things did pick up once that happened. You just have to be patient.

I have a feeling the gods are going to play a major part in the rest of this series, not just in the safety of their temples. They deserve a comeback to get the world balanced back out again because although Safiya and her Lorem are powerful, I'm not sure if it will be enough. There were way too many twists in this book that sort of wrecked future plans. I'm hoping that Safiya's dream world has something to do with the gods. Maybe a way to communicate in a manner only she can. Who knows? It has to be important though.

The ending was heart-rending and made me a little worried. I'm not sure what to think about what will happen next. Safety doesn't seem to be working out in their favor at all. Malum might not be the only person this group has to worry about if they can't get people to understand the reasoning behind their actions. Will they be seen as traitors to the Khesere or knights in shining kól?

This book pick up straight where conquered left us !
Malum wants ( and suceeds ) to take Safiya as his Inert.
Safiya shouted for her Men and I really hoped the would hear her and come barreling but alas Malum took her to his Palace and she is once again a slave.
This book new addition: the guys POV !!
That's right we get their thought
Anguish, Love, Worry, Anger the list is long
What was a great plot point was the fact they waited and plan how they would get her back
Even though we all wanted ( them and us reader) to go break the palace door the second she was taken, it was realistically not possible
Malum is way too strong and they had once chance.
The atmosphere is pretty heavy for a good chunk of the book. It lighten a bit but not much when they get Safiya's back
As malum is still a threat and they know one place to go where they could be safe from him for a time.
while the scenes between the guys and Safiya are tainted by the threat of malum above their head
The love and acceptance they have for each other is everything
And I will add the way the : you don't have to be guilty or ashame for something you don't have control on/isn't responsible was really well done it was explained greatly ( in a way better way I am making it in my review )
Meriah removed her pinked lenses glasses and see the Khesere, Malum and the way they treat the Inert for what it's really is.
I was happy to see she was an ally and the only thing she needed was to be help to open her eyes.
Malum is pictured as cruel in conquered and boy he played his role well in Captured. The really really few moments the author manage to make me pity him she destroyed and took them back making the hatred for him point his face.
I like the contrast between the two books
Book 1 Safiya went to no trusting anyone to lobe five of them
And book 2 Safiya while being captive again had finally something to rely on and to held on to keep afloat.

Love over distance 💜
After being captured by Malum, Safiya knows her life is never going to be the same again! Going back to being used for her Inertia and solely seen as a possession she becomes a shell of herself 😢 with the Khasar wanting her for true power and not really giving a care in the world he continually drains her hoping she’ll give in! He has plans for total world domination but Saf is not afraid to give it to him straight and show him another side to what life really is like under his rule 👍🏻
Meanwhile Mor, Roan, Kestrel and the twins Adrian and Tristan are trying to evade the Khasars efforts of trying to find them whilst figuring out ways to disperse of the kol with Safiya and generally survive 😬
Devyn has an amazing way of writing because although Safiya’s Lorem are forced away from her for the majority of this book you still feel the true connection between them and the power of their feelings 🥰
With a somewhat plan that is being helped together by a wing and a prayer can they make it to Safiya in time, but even then can they ever truly escape the Khasar? And even then do they have a long term plan - cause that ending doesn’t look promising 🙈! Looking forward to three and hopefully their well deserved HEA 😃

Ah, this book definitely pull on all your feelings. Safiya is back in the hands of the Emperor, a pure evil person who with all his power feels invincible. Will the guys arrive in time to save her? Or will the Khasar bind her to him forever?

Safiya suffered greatly in the previous years as we learned in the first book, and it's not over yet. I was so concerned over her being back in his grasp after finding her freedom. The Khasar is wanting her true power, and he gives 0 craps that he is draining her thinking she'll give in. I love that we get to see Safiya give it right back to him and show another side.

One thing that Devyn really nails is the way the guys help her with her trauma. It's not magically (pun intended lol), fixed it's a continuous overtime. I love how they're so willing to help her and you can feel the love and how much they care coming off the pages. Since this book is a multi POV we get to see what they guys are going through while they're separated and see how hard they're working to get her back.

I loved reading this book and can't wait to see what Devyn does for book 3! I think this cliff hanger is worse than book 1s, maybe. But regardless it was an amazing read, can't wait to see the group goes through.

Captured, the second book in the Inertia series by Devyn Sinclair was a fabulous continuation of Safiya’s story and all the emotional upheaval and turmoil she has to endure along her journey.

Once lost and alone I’m the world, Saf finally found comfort with her men—until it was ruthlessly torn away from her and she was once again thrown back into a life of enslavement and captivity, helpless at the hands of a power hungry Malum that wishes to rule over her at all costs.

As she struggles to stay true to herself, to keep faith in her men that they’ll soon be reunited and together again and not to succumb ti the pain and tragedy that now surrounds her, it’s not an easy life she’s thrust back into. However her men are dedicated and work tirelessly to find her and save her—the question is, will they be in time?

Overall if you love a good medium burn RH romance full of magic, corruption, faith and love—this is the one for you! Just be warned that Devyn has once again left us with a brilliant cliffhanger that keeps us on the edge of our seats, dying to know what happens next for our crew!

MINOR SPOILERS!!
I cannot say enough how much I loved this book!!! This series is truly one of a kind. I was lucky enough to get an ARC, and boy did I INHALE this book! Literally read it in less than 4 hours and had to reread because it was that amazing.

Not only was the world building incredible, but the depth of the characters made me as the reader feel like they were real. The relationship between Safiya and Meriah was the unexpected friendship I didn't know I needed, and cannot get enough of. I must say, Meriah's redemption arc was one of the highlights of this book. TBH wanted to unalive her in the first book but very glad she's still breathing.

Man... Safiya's men are just *chefs kiss*. They way they continue to gently help her work through her trauma, and understand that it's something to be continuously worked through overtime, and not just a one and done "oh I'm healed!" situation makes me fall head over heels for these men. Gawd I love them.

So........ WHEN'S THE THIRD BOOK OUT DEV??????

This story picks up right where we left off from Conquered - Safiya is fighting to survive her time with the Khasar and hoping that her Lorem will come for her. Her men go through a journey to get back to her and then another journey trying to keep her safe. Safiya and Meriah (her keeper) finally have a nice bond going and it’s a little sad that Meriah gets left behind at the palace. An epic battle of sorts happens in this book and it shows the growth that Saf has gone through in this book; even after getting tossed backwards into her unhappy memories again. We are left with a cliffhanger at the end of this book and I’m dying to know what happens!

** Personal Thoughts**

This was such a great continuation of Safiya’s story. We get to see more about the Khasar and life at his court as well as a bit more from the Lorem men. Sinclair continues to build a world for her characters that makes everything come alive with small details throughout. I am very excited to see what she has in store for the next book coming out in the Inertia Series.

This book takes off right where Book 1 ended! It did not disappoint. The author's imagination on this story is overwhelming. I love the originality and characters so much!

Adrian, Kestrel, Mo, Roan and Tristan are on the run. Wanting more than ever to claim their girl yet having to run as far as they can to come up with a plan to get her back. Safiya is imprisoned with Khasar and he has every intention of making her his bride.

With enemies at every turn, can the guys get their heart back? Without having an Inert to ground them, can they make this journey safely without seizing to exist?

This story is amazing. I want nothing more than to dive in this world and experience it all over again. I am very excited for Book 3 and am hoping they all finally get to settle and have some peace. I'm looking for some crazy miracle!! lol Both books 1 and 2 have been slow burn but I am hoping for more romance in book 3. fingers crossed.

*Overall 4/5
*Heat? 2/5
*Slow Burn 74%
*MFMMMM Romance (No MM)
*Light triggers
*Ends on cliffhanger

Oh my god! I thought the first book was good but this book...just wow. I loved it! It intrigued me and gets you captivated from the first chapter throughout the whole book! It kept me entertained and left me wanting to read what happens next. The obstacles these characters have to go through is torture...especially for Safiya. She has been through a lot and for her to get captured by Malum makes you want to root for her guys to get her quick and soon. Malum is like a child with a temper tantrum...when things don't go his way or if someone other than himself touches what he thinks is his, all Hel breaks loose. You feel sorry for Safiya and all she has to go through yet it makes you want her to be strong and not give up in her men.

You can feel the love these men have for her and how much she loves her men. They take every precaution to plan to get her back and won't stop until she is in their arms. Even though they know the price they pay for using kol, they still use it because they love her.

Bravo to the author for this series and I am definitely ready for the next book!

I am so invested in this. Series. It has completely sunk its claws into me . The world building is just so well done, so detailed and well laid out, its so easy to picture the settings Devyn has created because they are so well described! The story itself is so unique, I just love the concept. Saf’s story is so unpredictable, I am constantly on the edge of my seat, holding my breath in anticipation. I cannot get rough of this story. The heartbreak, the growth , the laughs and the tears, not to mention her relationship growth with her men of the lorem ( well former) . The steam! Oh the spice is good! Mallum as a villain is so well done too, Honestly I feel like all these characters are so well created, so detailed and defied they feel real! Overall I just can't get enough of this story, its is well written and well paced, its full of adventure, mystery, magic and steam, It literally ticks all the boxes for me! The ending had me practically hyperventilating, I am eager to read the next instalment!

I throughly enjoyed this book. D.S. has done a really good job picking up where the last one left off. She really gives us so much emotions through Safiya. This poor woman has been through it all. She has felt so much heart ache. Her men have finally started to heal her broken peices. Then the Khasar went and stole her from the men she loves. This book is alot about how Safiya is separated from her men. Everyday the Khasar tries to break her looking for her men. Everyday she is broken again a little more. There is so much emotions in this book. It is such a struggle for Safiya to try to hold on while she waits for her rescue. I liked how D.S. shows us how money and power are not what make us happy. The more the Khasar gives her to try to get her to come to him willingly the more miserable she is. She shows that love is all you need. Now let's talk about the ending. Talk about a cliffhanger. I feel like Safiya and her men can never get a break. I can not wait to see where it goes from here.

Similar to the first book, I found this one really enjoyable. The separation trope can get a little redundant but I get that the perspective from enemy lines was necessary to truly understand what future the FMC was attempting to escape or be doomed to. I really appreciated that her keeper finally woke up and was able to be a true companion. And the pain from her binding and losing such a huge part of herself and her ability to connect with the guys… ugh! My heart! Biggest complaint, as noted with the first is that the book, is that it’s a bit drawn out. I don’t mind lengthy books but the pacing just crawls in some parts. It’s like being in a static state of anticipation but you know the author could put you out of your misery sooner. That aside, I’m still on the edge of my seat and I’m going to dive straight into the final book.

Overall: 4.4/5 - For such a traumatic series with very little relief, it’s a bit slow and painful. Still love the story and the characters and can’t wait to see the finale, but crossing my fingers it paces just a tad quicker.

Safiya is in the hands of the Emperor, a man whose power has made him feel entirely invincible. With Safiya by his side as his true inert, the risk to Safiya, her men and the whole empire only increases every day. Will the Lorem be on time to safe her, or will the Khasar bind her to him for all eternity?

Safiya suffered greatly in the first book and the years before that, and the torture is not yet over. My heart broke for the poor young woman, but at the same time I was so proud of her! She does everything she can to stay true to herself and her beliefs, and that shows how courageous she really is. I enjoyed the multiple POV in this book, getting to know the men a little better as well and knowing how they were fighting to get their woman back. This book had me on the edge of my seat, and I'm really happy the next book won't be too far away, because that cliffhanger isn't one I'll forget real soon.

Safiya has been taken my Malum, the Khasar and he is nothing more than a madman. She's his slave and suffering at his hands, all the while her men are on the run working to get her back. Can she outlast this mad king?

I have learned very quickly that anything Devyn Sinclair writes is going to be a 5 star read for me. I have just absolutely fallen in love with their writing and their ability to tell a story that keeps you invested. The plot was fast paced, full of excitement and intrigue, with characters you can't help but love. Saf and her men are relationship goals, and make you desperate for your own harem!

After the absolute killer cliffhanger from book one, I expected things to pick back up in book two. And I was right....kind of. Things do pick up where they left off, but where normal romance novels appease readers after a cliffhanger, Devyn Sinclair said "haha no" and made us wait ages for things to get better for our characters.

In a world of magic users and inerts, the main MFC Safiya is put between a rock and a hard place. As an inert, basically a slave, she does not have the easiest way in life. As luck would have it, she is paired up with the five men strong with magic who protect and treat her like a queen. In Captured, book 2 of the Inertia series, Safiya's world comes crashing down when she is captured by the Khasar, the ruler of their world. She was finally feeling some semblance of happiness with her men, but now she is back to being treated like a slave. With her men on the run and looking for her, Safiya is forced to be the strong one as she navigates like under the thumb of a madman. This was a great addition to the series with many twists and turns, action, adventure and romance. The continued world building is incredible, and the storyline is addicting! I cannot wait for book 3! I must also side note and say how much I love the covers of this series! Very eye catching!

I couldn’t have been more excited to jump back into the Inertia series. Captured picked up right where book 1 left off and right off the bad Saf is such a baddie…she is strong, defiant and yet still dignified even when the King is using and abusing her. Malum is a power hungry insane man and it exhausted me the way he treated Saf to try and reach immortality.

The multiple POV’s were such a happy surprise for me. It was great to the men’s viewpoint and really feel their connection to Safiya. The way all her men are there for her and help her through her trauma make me feel all sorts of way. And holy redemption arc for Meriah, I did not see that coming!

The world building is so nice, Sinclair has such a true talent for that! The book is still a bit of a slow burn and everything is still so up in the air, so I’m really hoping that in book 3 there is more time for romance.

I was a major fan of the first book. Conquered gave us a fantasy world, but one where the rules of magic broke out of the standard format. The concept of Kol, and its requirement of Inertia through the Kalo and Inert dynamic is one I find truly refreshing.

Conquered ended with a major heart dropping moment, and I was more than eager to see how Captured would pick up. It picked up right where Conquered left off, and left me bereft, and aching for Safiya. Sinclair wrote this book so well, that even though the spice level for the first half was low, I didn't even notice. I was turning the page for the plot, and it didn't disappoint. I was impressed before with how Sinclair could weave heartbreak and misery with heavy dose of trauma into a romance story. This isn't even about being a dark tale. It's simply traumatic, hopeless, and hope-filled, in a very human way.

I will recommend this book unceasingly as I did Conquered, and can not wait for Consumed's release.
