So, the hero is a rapist.
I know some are into that but I'm not.
Most of the sex is initiated in order to assert dominance. SO it was even the same motivation that rapists have. Telling him to stop didn't work the one time I remember the Anna doing it, when he decided he wanted anal. The heroine only consented to sex, as in actually consented, like, twice, as far as I can remember. He even isolates her at some point. Like a slandered abuser. To me the only difference between the slavers and the hero is that Anna him visually pleasing and he protects and provides her.
I know, he's not human, but he's an intelligent being, even with his "mating rage" thing. He could given a little in their relationship. Like he could have talked to her more, got to know her culture and share his. So she could understand wtf was going on and vice versa. It would have helped with world building too.
The few times the Anne expresses displeasure she's told that she's being a baby, she's hurting the hero's feelings. This is after the heroine is almost raped and sees a man torn apart by the hero, with his bare hands.

I borrowed this book on KU because the reviews seemed liked the book was going to be an interesting read. Spoiler alert: it’s not. I did not finish because the h did the TSTL thing of going after the very capable H because she couldn’t just sit there and do nothing. For crying out loud. For real

Anna and the Alien are book one in the Alien Abduction sereis by Honey Phillips.
This is a Hawt and Steamy read. LOTS of sex. However, its well-written and has a good solid story.
Anna had no idea she’d wake up in a cage, enslaved and surrounded by aliens. Her survival depends on keeping Jakkar, an injured male in the cell across from her alive. Things go from bad to worse and now they are stranded on an unknown planet.

DNF - rape warning
I read this through KU. Initially it was merely racey/edgy content with bad editing. But, I like stories centered around survival on a new world so I stuck with it. However, around 70% I bailed because so-called hero calls main his slave, chains her to his bed and despite her repeatedly SAYING NO, he forces sexual acts upon her. Totally disgusting as AF. Can't say how much I detest this book. Will NOT be reading anything further from this author. And btw, if your main characters are going to be evil Fs who assault and who knows what else, you should put that up front, so readers who don't want that content can skip it.

3.5 stars -- I think I'm safe in saying that if you are looking for the alphahole version of Ruby Dixon, this is about as close as you're going to get. This particular couple was not my favorite, as there was way too much dubcon for my tastes, but the actual world set up and plot I was very into, and I think the writing was a cut above what I usually see in this subgenre. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series and more from the author

Jakkar was such a yummy alien and Anna, though she had some growing to do because her situation was utterly hopeless, she was brave and sweet. I'm so glad I went ahead and tried a new-to-me author, although she wasn't new new because I had promoted her work in the past. Actually, I did promo for this book before its release and added it to my tbr right away — where it stayed until now. So YAY me for branching out AND tackling my to-read list.
This story was just filthy enough and action-packed enough for me to give more of this author's stories a go. Seeing as how the side characters will be getting stories of their own, I've got plenty of books to devour. The writing, the characters, the plot, the everything has made a fan out of me and I would definitely recommend this read to anyone who enjoys scifi romance.
I'll see you at the next one!

Quick(ish) Review
The Good: protective alien sci-fi rom where they have to find a way to survive after their spacecraft crashes? Yup sign me up.
The Bad: occasionally pushing the MINE thing a bit far and the late slave aspect rearing it’s ugly head rubbed me the wrong way at times. There is attempted sexual assault on more than one occasion, so be forewarned. It gives the alien hero a chance to save the heroine, and I really would have preferred to see her save herself a bit more. Also, the hero does use sex (once) as a way to force the heroine to declare that she belongs to him, and it squicked me out a bit, ngl.
The Bottom Line: it’s a new alien sci-fi author to me and a new ‘verse to explore and O don’t mind a bit. I’m interested in seeing on this ‘verse expands, so if you like very couple centered sci-fi rom you may enjoy this.

A short little read with a some good steam.
The 'slave' thing in the latter part of the book did annoy me a fair bit and I wanted to whack a few heads together. Plus at one point the line between consent blurs in away that had me pausing a little.
The could have been dealt with far better than it was.

Anna and the Alien definitely counts as erotic science fiction romance. There's A LOT of sex in this book. However, it's well-written and plotted and there is a good, solid story.

If you have a domination slave fantasy this is your book...
...unfortunately I do not, so I just ended up pissed and disappointed. I love steamy romances with alpha men but the H & h were utter tropes and completely unlikable. She is quite dim and seems to orgasm at the drop of a growl while he is nothing but dominance and aggression. The first 12 chapters I was happily reading along focusing on the interesting survival skills and steamy bits, and brushing off the lazy world building. But right when I was expecting them to start connecting emotionally or develop even marginally, it instead went down the pooper... literally.
SPOILERS!!!!!!
She is almost raped in a very descriptive close call and after, he is angry AT HER because she is frightened and traumatized? 3 days later they “make up” via aggressive sex and fingers up her butt?Cringey. And unfortunately it got way worse when he reveals he sees her as his slave and instead of a culture collide moment of growth, he gets angry she doesn’t think that’s a cool plan and decides to force her to submit to his ownership by chaining her to his bed and shoving it in her butt. But no worries folks, she has tons of random orgasms for some reason so must be okay...

Waking up in a cage, enslaved and surrounded by aliens is not Anna’s idea of a great holiday. Unfortunately that’s exactly what has happened. Her survival now depends on her skills at keeping Jakkar, the injured and golden male in the cell across from her alive. Jakkar is huge and obviously a warrior and Anna can’t help her body's arousal every time she gets near him. Especially when he seems determined to claim her. When the aircraft they’re on crash lands on an unknown planet they must all depend on Jakkar for survival.If you’re looking for a sci fi romance with a dominant alien hero, then look no further than Anna and the Alien. Jakkar is a take control kind of guy, even when he’s half dead and bolted to the floor of a cage. And seducing and keeping Anna has just become his number one priority. Luckily, Anna seems to be on board with this plan as just looking at the sexy golden alien makes her want to ride him into the sunset.
This romance was more on the erotic side compared to most of the romances I read, so I would definitely recommend this if you like your romances to be red hot. Especially if you like your hero to be dominant and demanding in the bedroom. The sex scenes, of which there were quite a few, were great Phillips certainly knows how to get you all hot and bothered.
However, to enable myself to enjoy this book I did have to try really hard to not think about certain things. For example, if I had just been kidnapped by hostile aliens about to sell me into sex slavery, I probably wouldn’t be getting horny looking at the unconscious but undeniably hot guy in the next cell over. But I understand the author wanted to get across their overwhelming chemistry, I guess I wasn’t quite buying it.
But, I did enjoy this book. Granted it didn’t set my world alight and it had more sex in it than I usually prefer; however, it was still a lot of fun to read. Phillips also intrigued me with some of her secondary characters, especially the scarred and fierce Dragar. When I fancy reading some extra sexy alien romance, I know I’ll be picking up the next book.

Yeah I really didn’t vibe with this it was the most unromantic thing ever and the sex scenes were just extremely uncomfortable because they were too rape-y and the heroine came off as just a sexual object and novelty to the hero and there’s not much of a personality to either the hero or heroine— and what personality is there is absolutely annoying. Spoilers:
The h was just trying to save his life and the H just latched onto the h’s nipples and bit it and miss girl was turned on???? Like you’d think ay woman’s knee-jerk reaction to a stranger biting her nipple would be to try to escape or slap him away or both but she just took it???? I also didn’t like how this motivated the alien captors to then further sexually abuse her like if it were me I’d resent the H for giving these aliens ideas and doing stuff knowing they’re watching and getting off on it.
Then this little slave trading ship crashed and instead of leaving the two alien slave traders behind or preferably even killing them, the h takes a stupid mf mother Theresa route and begs the H to save their lived— EVEN THOUGH THESE ALIENS SEXUALLY HARASSED HER AND JERKED OFF TO HER AND GROPED HER AND SHOVED THEIR ERECTION ON HER. Yes because yay kindness or some such BS. One of these alien slave trading mf harasser also gets with the other lady in this book and she comes from a matriarchal society you’d think she’d have a better concept of consent and women’s rights smh.
There’s a graphic scene of sexual assault in the book that could have been entirely avoided, the mere idea of oh this rape is about to happen gave enough tension for the H to swoop in and save h because all women know how terrifying the mere prospect of sexual assault is. However, there was too much graphic detail about he h’s wounds and bruises and the alien slave dealer committing the act so you’d think the emphasis would be on h and her recovery from this trauma. NOPE. Instead the H and h go through a push/pull because instead of thanking him for saving her or whatever she is hiding from him and not talking to him because “he scared her by killing her assaulter”. And instead of giving the h space, the H is all boohoo I’m going to snap and yell and scare her more because my fragile feelings are hurt and the h has to go apologize to him and they make-up with more sex which she felt uncomfortable with.
The H is from a blood and race puritanical society so he can’t have h as his mate or whatever so he decides to make her his slave. The very thing she was running away from… yay. Instead of getting his head out of his ass, the plot is basically he gets so jealous he imprisons h in a room naked and then blows up and weaponizes sex against her to force her to say she belongs to him. Even though the h tries to be all girl boss and escape she runs to him at first sign of danger and is like ILY so much I will be your slave we have to be together forever <3 like girl where’s your self-respect. Then they do marry/mate because oh so generous hero he’s risking his commander position by marrying human. However, at the end it looks like the heroine is living as his slave and they didn’t get marriage approval? And when he’s like “I love you” she’s perfectly happy to say “I belong to you” like ick ick icky ick not a great ending it was horrible. She could’ve just said I love you too, but this made me want to pace around my room and throw up.

DNF at 17%. You don’t get to touch someone sexually without their permission. Nope. Also, why do so many alien romances center around slavery and subjugation of women!? And normalize bad male behavior!? Also, how many times has anyone got turned on by a stranger so much that they show it in a prison setting!? This is just too much.

I really loved Anna, the FMC, and Jakkar, the MMC’s, relationship in the beginning. Although brought together under less than ideal circumstances, there was none of the usual doubt/self-judgment or insta-mate pressure. They didn’t know each other, but felt attraction and acted on those impulses. It was simple and refreshing.
Then…the 70% conflict reared its ugly head and brain synapses commenced misfiring. Anna started acting a little TSTL. Not be outdone, Jakkar utterly failed at communication pertaining to his budding relationship with Anna.
Of course, the author ultimately clears things up and we get our HEA. I like the varying species, cultural norms, clothing, ceremonies, social systems, and political structures that were introduced. The author gave herself a lot of runway to work with over the course of a series. I look forward to the next books.

Just OK - had the right elements but it didn't translate well. Way too much Telling, making the lead characters very boring. The secondary characters were more interesting, but only glimpses before the tedious Telling of details got in the way. If the plot and characters were revealed, it would be a shorter and better read. I know others love this author's writing, so I'll look for improvements in a later book to see if writing style has matured.

If you're looking for a collection of explicit sex scenes just barely held together with a minimal plot, then you will enjoy this book. I considered shelving it under my "trashy romance" tag but there isn't enough of a romantic relationship for it to belong there. The main characters share an intense physical attraction, but very little in the way of what I would consider an actual relationship. If you want to read about a good alien/human relationship, I suggest Ann Aguirre's "Strange Love."

Very well read, the characters have palpable chemistry and I felt I was there with them throughout the book which is always fun because you manage to escape into the book that much easier. It was steamy, and creative. Actiony and quick. Overall I would recommend for those who love the genre as well as those willing to step outside and try something this side of the book world!

Although this story doesn't have any insta-romance in it (which is a plus), ultimately I'm still glad that I read Beth and the Barbarian first. Because while Beth and Dragar's relationship comes out of nowhere, what I like about them is how they get along as a couple, whereas for Anna and Jakkar...
I like it, but Anna's also kind of annoying, especially when it comes to commitment/abandonment issues and just randomly freaking out or knocking herself out at inappropriate times. Beth, for all that insta-romance was a thing, was a fighter, and that is one thing that Anna isn't. Ultimately, it's the difference in the heroines that makes Beth and the Barbarian a better read for me, even though it has insta-romance and insta-lust whereas this story was not. Although this story doesn't have any insta-romance in it (which is a plus), ultimately I'm still glad that I read Beth and the Barbarian first. Because while Beth and Dragar's relationship comes out of nowhere, what I like about them is how they get along as a couple, whereas for Anna and Jakkar...
I like it, but Anna's also kind of annoying, especially when it comes to commitment/abandonment issues and just randomly freaking out or knocking herself out at inappropriate times. Beth, for all that insta-romance was a thing, was a fighter, and that is one thing that Anna isn't. Ultimately, it's the difference in the heroines that makes Beth and the Barbarian a better read for me, even though it has insta-romance and insta-lust whereas this story was not. I guess it's my fault for not checking the reviews before starting this book. In my defense, I was out running errons and needed something to read/listen to. I usually have Alexa read my books while I get stuff done. I had this on my TBS and it sounded good and most of the story was up until around 60% in. That's when things became a little too much for my taste. So I decided to DNF this book. I don't read much dubcon so maybe I'm just out of my depth here but if someone says no repeatedly even if they are semi-into (their body responds) it the answer is still no. Sex isn't a tool to force someone to do what you want, especially when the "thing" goes against their core beliefs, like say, becoming a slave. I get the male MC's thought process. They can't marry, if he takes her as his mate he will be banished from his people. Their only option is if she becomes his "slave" in name. But I don't know maybe he could have explained the situation instead of controlling her with dubious consent sex and leaving her naked and locked up until she complied. He not only forced a sexual encounter but also made her feel like becoming his slave was her only option. He told her she was alone in the universe with no one else to advocate for her and no way to take provide for herself. So become his slave or become the slave of someone else... NOPE! That is not love. Actually, the slave for someone else wasn't an option for her because he wouldn't accept any other option besides her becoming his.

The story of abducted by slaves Anna and warrior Jakkar. Anna wakes up in a cage on an alien ship. The aliens smell bad and are pretty gross. The guards were a bit more lecherous than I would have liked. Anna is forced to care for another dying prisoner or lose her life. Jakkar doesn’t waste much time getting it on with Anna then they escape to an uninhabited planet and have to survive with the other escapee prisoners.
This was your average wake up a slave book. If you are into them then this isn’t bad. For me, it was a bit meh. Ok but not standout in this genre. It’s definitely erotic sci-fi so be ready for lots of sex scenes.
The things I liked.
Anna accepts her situation and gets on with life pretty quickly. I war with this. On the one, it’s good not have a tearful, pathetic heroine, on the other, it’s unrealistic for the h to be thinking other prisoners are hot and openly attempting to seduce them when she’s in such a horrid situation with a high risk of rape. It’s far more likely you’d be scrunched up like a ball in the corner.
But real life has to be put on hold in these types of books.
Jakkar was hot and dominant and knew what he wanted. He flew into mating rages and literally ripped threats apart. Cool. But he was a bit rapey. Sigh. This whole trophe can be quite rapey but some authors work round this better than others. There are definitely some dubious consent issues going on but underneath this we do know that Anna likes Jakkar. No excuse but it softens the scenes into more of a forced seduction type deal. I’m not justifying it. More, i’m just telling you the flavour so you can decide your limit.
The side characters are good. There is room for some nice world building here so the rest of the series has potential.
Three stars just because it was ok. An entertaining read for sure.

Too claustrophobic. I liked the premise, I liked the characters. It's a typical alien romance. I just didn’t care for the way the author chose to continue her story. I don’t really think it’s love if things aren’t reciprocal. But that’s just me.

So glad I decided to start reading the complete series. I started with Izzie and the Icebeast and loved it so much I went to this one next. This story is Jakkar a strong, fierce, warrior, very alpha and Anna, beautiful and instantly drawn to Jakkar. Love this series and highly recommend.

Argumento:
Anna Elliott quería escapar. Pero una nave extraterrestre no estaba en el itinerario.
Todo lo que Anna necesitaba eran unas vacaciones tranquilas y relajantes. En cambio, se encuentra esclavizada a bordo de una nave extraterrestre y obligada a ayudar a un prisionero herido, un enorme guerrero de piel dorada. Incluso herido, la excita de formas que ella nunca ha conocido. Pero si él muere, ella también.

Nuevamente estoy dando puntos a un personaje secundario en un libro de esta autora, Melia!
Esa es una verdadera heroína con los pantalones puestos! Me encantó ella!
Lamentablemente, me decepcionó este libro, el héroe y las escenas de sexo me parecieron muy repetitivas. Pero le daré oportunidad al siguiente.

So, I think I’ve found my niche: alien romance. As a result, I’ve been reading all the books I can get my hands on, and trust me, there’s a LOT of alien romance books on KU. I figured I’d give this one a shot—it looked interesting, and there were multiple other books in a series...
Yeah, this was flop. The story is written from the third POV, which is extremely confusing; I understand everything coming from Anna’s side of the story, but Jakkar’s? I have no idea what’s going on.
Even with a confusing POV, however, I was willing to continue. At just 20%—I repeat, TWENTY PERCENT—Anna has an orgasm with Jakkar. THEY HAVEN’T SPOKEN MORE THAN 10 WORDS WITH ONE ANOTHER, SO WTF???
The final nail in the coffin was this remark, when Anna learns that she could be sold as a sex slave in space: “If the idea wasn’t so appalling she would laugh, remembering how she had always scoffed at stories of white slavery and sex trafficking.” Excuse me? What the hell? Scoffing at the idea of SLAVERY AND SEX TRAFFICKING??? TWO VERY REAL PROBLEMS???? I can’t, I simply can’t. Goodbye.
