Five former sorority sisters, all in their 50's, undertake the adventure of a lifetime when a mysterious invite reunites them at an exclusive resort set on a private island.
Olivia was the quiet one. Her divorce from her alcoholic husband freed her in many ways but caused a rift with her daughter that seems impossible to heal.
Amanda was the perfect one. Widowed and desperately broke but hiding it, she needs a new start more than anyone can imagine.
Leigh Ann was the cheerleader. Her ongoing divorce is completely amicable, or so she’d like everyone to believe. The truth isn’t quite as rosy.
Grace was the party girl. And she still is, much to the dismay of her husband, who’s struggling to keep their restaurant afloat. Grace hopes her time away will give them both the space she thinks they need.
Katie was the brains. Now she’s incredibly successful but hiding secrets that could change her life if they were to get out.
When their beloved house mother invites them on an all-expenses-paid vacation, then drops a huge surprise on them, the five friends face a major decision. Can they overcome their pasts in order to take advantage of the amazing future being offered?
Take the journey to Compass Key with them and find out.
Even if it isn't summer when you read these, you will feel like it is. Beaches are my favorite place to be, with the breezes, silky warm sand in my toes, the hypnotic sound of the waves, and to be a part of the intriguing friendships, coupled with romance, are the best ways to spend the day(s). Maggie Miller has created a wonderful cast of relatable characters, and I will be back for more. See for yourself, the intriguing stories of each character, that give much enjoyment to reading these books, and offer a bit of mystery.
The Secret by Maggie Miller Compass Key #2 6h 50m narrated by Vivienne Leheny, Laura Jennings, Allyson Voller, Cindy Kay, Nancy Wu, Sara Morsey, Suzie Althens, 251 pages
Rating as a movie: PG-13 for adult content and situations
My rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🛎🐚
My thoughts:📱17% 1:10:32 Ch. 7 - The drama is so shallow but I'm here for it.
This was more of the same. They added a few new minor storylines and continued the ones introduced in the first book. The timeline is an issue for me. Some of the issues seem like it takes them a week to play out but by the end of this book, we are not even half a week into the two-week vacation they started in book 1. Once again the story ends abruptly. Make sure you have all of these books before you start this series. I think they are written better than the books of Blackbird Beach but I think that series did the cliffhangers better, they ended on a climax or preview, and these just end, almost mid-scene. I thought something was wrong with my player.
Recommend to others: Yes. It's just sweet enough to be pleasant without being corny.
Compass Key 1. The Island (2022) 2. The Secret (2022) 3. The Dream (2022) 4. The Promise (2022) 5. The Escape (2022) 6. Christmas on the Island (2022) 7. The Wedding (2022)
This is only the second book in this series and I just want the next book to be out now. There are no characters that I don't like. While I want all the problems resolved for all of them,it would mean an end to the series and I don't want that at all. This is a feel good older women and second chances book with no sex scenes. The reading goes by so fast and then I have to wait until the next book comes out.
There are too many food references regarding calories, weight, etc. I mean, they are on a vacation… Also, they meet men a few days on vacation & are almost instantly in love🤣
I am enjoying really enjoying this series of friends and their getting back together. A real twist has just been thrown into this mix! How is a long lost son showing up going to effect a wonderful thing that has been offered to these five (5) sobriety sisters? Can't wait for the book. ENJOY! Happy Reading!! MARY C
I’m loving this series! Second chances do exist for these 5 women in their fifties. It’s nice to experience older women romances when you’re an older woman yourself. Funny, touching, relatable experiences with the exception of the millionaire men they meet. LOL, but the series is perfectly done in the audiobook version.
Fun stuff, to meet with these fictional characters, created by Maggie Miller, once again. Though predictable, this beach read took me away from my reality, for awhile. I enjoyed Iris, a pleasant mid 70s woman, and Olivia, who is trying to make a relationship with her daughter, work. The other characters are interesting too. I'm into the next book in this series.
This is only book two of the series and I am totally invested in all five sorority sisters, the incredible offer Iris has made to each, and their second chances with some new found partners. The writing is wonderful, the characters are so believable, and the surprises keep coming. I'm truly enjoying every page of this series!
This is the most interesting series I have read in quite awhile. The characters are all believable and the story flows. The only down side is having to wait for the next book!
Unbelievable but so good you want it to be possible
Problems we all have them. The problems these sorority sisters face are believable. The solution is unbelievable but it would be so good.... . If you want a feel good book that satisfies this is for you
I am so glad I stumbled upon this series. The story about five former sorority sisters, all in their 50's has such a realistic hook to each individual women's story that they are so relatable. I already started the next book in the series and I'm excited to find out what happens with these women.
I really enjoyed reading this episode of the compass keys. Five ladies, each going through different troubles in their lives, brought together for an offer of their life times.
This whole series is like a hallmark movie so it takes a little to get past the sappiness of the dialogue but I’m intrigued by the story and looking forward to the third book. Love the cliffhanger at the end of this one.
I can see each of these characters clearly in my head. They are described so distinctly. I even feel like I know them and they are friends of mine. This book and the others in the series are hard to put down!
Wow! This author really knows how to leave a book with you wanting to continue right on into the next one! The characters feel like they are my friends & I feel like I am right there with them in Compass Key (an island paradise).
I love the continuation of the lives of the five women plus the mother-like figure and how they find love again and sort out different problems each has. I would recommend this book to those who love books about family, sisterhood, and friendship.
This was another great book. The five women are meeting others and having fun. But they all have serious personal relationship issues. And a couple of unexpected visitors show up.
This author is captivating! She makes you want to continue the story. I am having trouble putting the book down to do things I really have to do. I am anguish to see what's next. Love this author!
The Secret brings in three new characters as the sorority sisters continue their reunion. Each one adds A new dimension and some relationships start to be resolved. No ending so onto the next book, The Dream.
I read the first book and was hooked. Now I'm going to be counting down until the next one in the series comes out! Can't wait to see what unfolds next.
Wow. That was a twist. Everyone ties into each other so smoothly. This is a great follow-up to the first 2. I can't wait to see what she does with the new characters.
Loved the surprise ending in this book. Do you think there is a Compass Key in Florida today. I know it is a resort, but I need a place with all of those vibes.
