Jemma Brooks The day I've been waiting for is finally here. In a few short hours, the board will announce the candidates with a chance at being promoted to partner. My mentor has promised me that I'm on the shortlist to fill one of the three spots and become the youngest person to make partner in the law firm's history. I'm not worried about the competition. At least until the announcement is made and the rules are changed. Now I'm fighting to win a single spot, and there's only one associate with the skills to beat me. Mr. Stick-up-his-ass.
Brandon Roberts Anyone else would be nervous heading into work today but I'm not just anyone. There's no question that I'll be promoted to partner this year and today's announcement is just the first step. But my perfectly mapped out plan is thrown out the window when I find out there will only be one new partner this year. On the outside, I'm cool, calm, and collected. Inside, however, I'm prepping for a fight with the human tornado who owns the desk across from mine. If she's somehow gotten it in her head that she can beat me, Lawyer Barbie better prepare to be disappointed.
Suddenly Signed is the prequel to the Suddenly Us series of interconnected standalones revolving around members of the fictional band Suddenly Us and their families and friends. Each book, including the prequel, can be read on its own but the series is best read in order to understand each character's full story.
I am a new author, currently specializing in closed-door Contemporary Romance. You can expect a balance of banter and fun with a dose of the real world. When I'm not writing, you'll most likely find me reading or doing some kind of art.
Definitely 3.5! I really enjoyed how bubbly Jemma’s personality came across. Plus having Brandon be the exact opposite? It is one of my favorite tropes. This romcom fun story is so cute!
A short story/ prequel under 100 pages, but it was too short for all that was happening and it felt rushed. It was so rushed it was hard to enjoy. It had a decent base story but needed more developing.
I still have no idea why the main characters didn’t like each other. There was no time to watch any sort of relationship develop at all. I thought being a prequel we’d see their relationship build in book one, but after reading the blurb it isn’t even their story. I guess this is where it ends for me, unfortunately.
The title makes no sense to the story, but the cover is adorable
Thank you to the author for sending me an arc of this for an honest review! there will be a spoiler in this but ill make it clear when its there so u can skip past it!
Although it was a short story it was a VERY short story which was a big shame for me as it felt like as soon as we were getting into something important it was shoved out of the way for something else. As the reader i felt like the important stuff should have been talked about for longer.
SPOILER: - - - - - especially when jemma mentioned she might have been pregnant! It felt extremely rushed! - - END OF SPOILERS
I did enjoy the end part where brandon basically said fuck you to his superiors and boss. That made me laugh and say "go bestie, go" I was told it was a "steamy romance" but it was fade to black! As i said it was all rushed. Like they didnt even get to the bedroom before it faded! Overall it was a great short story and i cant wait for the next one, i just wished this one was a bit longer!
"Please say it didn't start after watching Legally Blonde."
Very cute, sweet and to the point rom com about rivals to lovers. The banter is literally the best part of the entire book. Jemma the bright bubbly lawyer and Brandon the dark serious "stick-up-his-ass" coworker have a long history dating back to college, and they're now forced to work together on a case. Things heat up quickly after a long night in the office.
uhmmmm no. wth. Basically she is in a law firm and falls in love with the enemy after like what? two weeks maybe. The timeline is unclear but basically she's dropped her career for a man who didn't use protection??? poor demonstration of a woman in charge at best. But it was good for a quick read which is why it isn't a 1 ⭐. Literally took me an hour to read so I guess it's good for that? Idk maybe my thoughts will change after I read suddenly I'm falling.

Very short and very predictable. I did not connect with the characters and would have liked to follow them more closely as they explored their attraction. They went from barely speaking to an us against the world forever, in just a few very short chapters. It has the possibility to be a very sweet grumpy vs sunshine, enemies to lovers story, but it felt rushed 🤷🏻♀️
After reading Suddenly Falling, it was fun to read more about Brandon and Jemma’s backstory. I just wish it had been longer and had delved more into the details of their relationship, Aria, and the establishment of their law practice. They are great characters with a great story to tell 😊
I really liked the writting style and the story in general and will definitely read another book of Lauren Brown. However it was way too quick and didn't like the ending because...be responsible.
I have a love/hate with novellas. Most of the time I want moreeeee! Which is how I felt here. I felt like Gemma and Brandon’s story had so much more depth that could have been explored. The ending felt a little rushed unfortunately. Overall, a great prequel!
This book moved very fast for me. I know it’s a short story but I read the whole thing in like 30 minutes or less. I felt like it could’ve had a little more to make you understand Bette. But overall I’m excited for the book to come out and to follow the story more.
