It was no ordinary robbery. The suspect is no ordinary thief. The investigator is no ordinary detective.
He’s Silas McKay, head of operations for Discreet Corporate Security Systems in Dallas, Texas.
Silas doesn’t usually investigate stolen merchandise, but when his boss asked him to look into a jewelry heist at Gadise Diamonds, a high-end store in the Dallas area, he makes an exception.
When Silas learns this was no ordinary robbery, and the suspect is no ordinary thief, he enlists the help of Ashley Davenport, who’s no ordinary woman.
It was no ordinary robbery . . . It happened in broad daylight, no weapons were involved, and there were plenty of security cameras present.
The suspect is no ordinary thief . . . He’s Todd Harriman, a billionaire’s son, who could afford to buy the entire jewelry store, so why would he devise an elaborate plan to steal merchandise from it?
Ashley is no ordinary woman . . . She’s a wealthy socialite, about to start her own detective agency, and the last person Silas needs in his life right now, especially since he’s still angry at God for the loss of his wife, and Ashley doesn’t believe in God.
As Silas and Ashley work together to confront the guilty party, Silas must confront his feelings about Ashley as well as his anger toward God. Can Silas believe God wants the best for him? Can Ashley find the faith to believe? Can two believe?
Two Believe is an inspiring suspenseful read from USA Today bestselling author, Luana Ehrlich, and Book II in the Silas McKay Suspense Series, a character-driven, emotion-packed series featuring Silas McKay, a corporate security investigator who’s not afraid to take risks, but who’s a little skittish about making changes.
Luana Ehrlich is a USA Today bestselling author, known for her award-winning Titus Ray Thrillers, Mylas Grey Mysteries, and Silas McKay Suspense. Her novels are clean reads with intriguing plots, fascinating characters, jaw-dropping twists, and occasional touches of humor and heart-warming romance.
Although she developed her passion for spy thrillers and mystery novels at an early age, she didn’t write her first novel until her husband retired from the ministry. Now, she writes from an undisclosed location, trying to avoid the torture of mundane housework, grocery shopping, and golf stories. However, she occasionally comes out of hiding to visit with her two grandsons or to enjoy a Starbucks caramel macchiato.
Luana and her husband, former missionaries to Costa Rica and Venezuela, are now residents of Norman, Oklahoma. Email her at author@luanaehrlich.com. She loves to hear from her readers!!
Jewel (ring) heist from a jewelry store was baffling to anyone watching the video. A distraction on the other side of the store made it possible for the ring to go missing. Investigating the case and figuring out how to get someone to admit they took it was quite a feat.
Wonderful!
Best of all, the gospel shared in the first book saw fruit in this one.
The main character Silas (the book is in first person of Silas) runs the operations side of Discreet Corporate Security Services that works for wealthy clients to uncover illegal activities by employees in big companies and other types of things. In this particular case, the owner of an expensive jewelry store needs their help to quietly find proof that a man he knows stole an expensive ring from his store. It's a sensitive case involving well-known people, so the DCSS agreed to take the case. The story follows Silas and the people he works with in DCSS as they investigate, question, and work to find proof. One of Silas' co-workers Ashley, is working closely with him and their interest in one another is gradually growing. The story plays out at a good pace and, at times, seems a bit cut and dry without a lot of color, but still makes for an interesting, easy to follow read. I especially like the Christian elements to the story that show up about halfway through. Silas is a Christian and Ashley is not, so they have some interesting conversations about it. If you like a clean straight forward story with some Biblical conversations, you'll enjoy this book.
It was a good story of faith and mystery mixed together. I felt it needed more though. The ending was kind of abrupt and I still had questions about what happened with some of the characters.
I read the first book, One Wonders, in the Winter Deceptions box set and loved it. This sequel was just as good! It held my full attention from beginning to end.
Silas and Ashley are great characters who work well together. The case they're working on this time seemed very open and shut, but it was unique in the fact that the crime was committed in broad daylight and in full view of many people, but there was no proof. How did the guilty party pull off the crime? And how were Silas and Ashley going to prove it? I was racing through the pages, wondering how this would all conclude.
Luana Ehrlich is quickly becoming one of my go-to authors for high-stakes suspense. I can't wait for her next release!
When a $65,000 diamond signet ring is stolen from Dallas's leading jewelry store, store owner Philip Shaheen hires Discreet Corporate Security Systems to recover the ring. Shaheen believes that the thief was the son of the store's billionaire landlord, but he could lose his lease if he makes his views public.
Silas McKay takes on this sensitive case, and the store's security video quickly provides xome excellent leads. Meanwhile, Silas continues to get to know Ashley Davenport, a future private investigator who is interning with him. She has questions for him about faith as well as security work.
This author is a new favorite. I read her Mylas Grey series and loved them too. The intro novella to this new series, One Wonders, was included in a collection entitled Winter Deceptions. Enjoyed Two Believe very much. Fun characters drawn so well, you may think you've met them in real life. The plot was fairly straightforward, but with enough of a how-will-he-pull-this-off to keep me interested. And, a sweet spiritual thread woven through with a strong salvation message. Well done! Looking forward to more.
Silas McKay is head of operations at an elite agency dealing with security at all levels. A diamond ring worth $65000 is stolen in broad daylight, by a billionaire brat who was mad at the store owner because he couldn't get a date with the owner's daughter. Together with intern Ashley, Silas solves the mystery and "persuades" the brat to return the ring. I suspect I will be reading more from this author.
This is an unusual case to investigate: a robbery with many security cameras, in daylight, without a run by a guy who is wealthy. How Silas & Ashley get the suspect to confess is also very unusual. Then there is the romance side of the story with Silas & Ashley. Their religious beliefs also play an important part in the story. Mr. Lennon does an excellent job reading the story. I very much enjoyed his performance & Ms. Ehrlich's writing. I received a free audible copy from the author.
I enjoyed the book. Easy to read. No sex or profanity; in fact, Silas, the main character, is a Christian. The writing style doesn’t flow as well as it does in many books. The word that comes to mind is “curt”, but that does not seem quite to capture the sentence structure.
In this story, Silas an Ashley, his intern at Discreet Corporate Security Systems, are asked to check on the theft of a $65,000 diamond signet ring.
The Ultra-Rich Can Be Creeps This book is the second in a series about a discrete security agency located in Dallas, Texas. Like all of this author's books, this is a clean mystery with no foul language, no gore, little violence, and no intimacy. It is also very Christ-centered and He is ever-present in the book. The case is very interesting. We know the culprit from the outset, but getting him cornered is tricky. A very good story that I enjoyed immensely.
While this was a quick read and was rather superficial, especially regarding the six months dead wife, the actual story was quite good. The characters entertaining in their own right and the plot was well crafted and different from other stories I’ve read. I liked that it was clean in all aspects, had good humour and there was no cliff hanger. I should also say that there is talk of religious living and finding faith at the very end of the book.
This is a fantastic suspense novel! This is the second book in the series and its another great series by Luana Ehrlich. This book contains a good mystery with just a little romance to keep it interesting. The main character, Solar McKay us very likable and the other characters are interesting as well.
The plot in this one was different than the others, but she was able to keep me reading as Silas and Ashley uncovered the details discovering what actually took place in the stolen ring. I did enjoy the parts where he mentored Ashley in questions that would lead to clues in solving cases.
Finding your way on your own can be incredibly challenging, especially if loved ones have different ideas for your future. Follow Ashley’s journey and watch Silas as he interacts with her and his own feelings of sadness. Todd is another interesting character. Read and find out for yourself.
I am so thankful to find yet another fine author who can write a tale without the need to use profanity, sexual overtones or graphic violance to keep my interests alive. You did a great job. You books are very entertaining and wonderful to read. I can’t wait to read another tale.
This is the second book in the series and you have to read them in order! Silas finishes off one case and immediately moves on to another. It’s a very detailed book that makes you feel like you’re a detective. I like that there are multiple people involved, so he’s not doing everything himself! There’s a hint of romance, but just a hint.
A $65000 signet rings disappears and the suspect is the son of a billionaire. The owner is discreetly opening an investigation because his landlord is the father of the thief. Ashley and Silas are on the team searching for the ring. They finally solve the case after rehashing the theft. Book keeps your attention and moves quickly.
The second book in the Silas McKay series is a jewellery heist of a peculiar nature. The thief is not a common robber. Silas is tasked to investigate, along with Ashley Davenport, and asked to see to the recovery of the stolen property. An interesting and enjoyable Christian suspense story, well-narrated.
It took a little bit to get into the story, but it turned out to be an enjoyable read. The interactions between Silas and his co-workers kept me reading, as well as trying to figure out what was going to happen, go wrong, etc. I look forward to book 3.
Welcome to a fascinating and intelligent new series from a well-loved, creative author. You will instantly be intrigued by Silas McKay, his co-workers, boss and their unique cases. I highly recommend reading the first edition, which is currently in the Winter Deceptions multi-author collection.
When one reads a good series, the review seems almost rote. But, this was good, mixed with some excitement in the wrap up case. And, it was a very fast read, too. Yes, #3 is next!
This was a great follow-up to One Wonders. I can't wait to start the third book in the series. I'm anxious to read another mystery and find out what happens with Silas and Ashley. Erlich's books can be read as stand alone stories. She gives plenty of background so you're never lost. Her stories are also clean and faith filled, but never preachy. The entire series are all great.
Another short and sweet, but exciting story from the DCSS Agency. Silas investigates a $65,000 ring being taken from an upscale jewelry store. The story has such a sweet ending you can hardly believe this is a suspense story. Happy reading!
I listened to the audio version and the narrator did a good job with the story! I enjoyed this detective mystery series that is set up like episodes from your favorite detective TV show. This series is best enjoyed when read in order.
I enjoyed the story. Though I have to disagree on having to read a more modern version to make sense. The KJV is written at a 4th grade level, it makes sense.
