Oh my, I wonder what this book is about? 🤔

I'm kidding.

Though I admit that I was glad to have a digital arc or I would have been getting side eyed by my husband all weekend and for good reason because I would have done the same had the roles been reversed.

It's another day for a lying, cheating spouse to get their comeuppance!

Cassie is due to be married to her knight in shining armor, Jamie. Jamie, the sweetest, kindest, most thoughtful fiancé a woman could ever ask for.

WRONG!

He's a sniveling little snake and Cassie has decided that rather than to scream, cry, and bemoan the loss of her one true love that what she'd rather do is to exact some revenge.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Jess Kitching sure knows how to grab the attention of her readers. With a title like that and a story like this it's going to become popular in the psych thriller community.

The problem is that this is a story that has been written a thousand times before and because it's a well trodden trope I'm not sure how surprising many people will find this. I certainly wasn't surprised by any of the revelations though I was entertained enough to follow this through to the end. I liked Cassie for the most part though some of her actions could be frustrating. I couldn't have done what she did. I've got a fiery temper so it would take an act of god for me not to curse the jerk out as soon as I found out. Cassie possesses a great deal more patience than I do and sets into motion a plan to destroy. Will she succeed? You'll have to read this to find out.

I'll admit that the final page I found disappointing.

All in all it's a decent book but nothing great or spectacular. I'd be willing to try this author again if she can bring something a little more original to the table. 3 stars!

How intriguing is that title? Believe me, you need to read this book. I devoured it under 24 hours, I had to know how this was going to end for both our main characters! It was shocking and kept me turning those pages. Another fantastic novel from the very talented Jess Kitching.

What would you do if the love of your life, the person that you were about to marry, turned out to be the stuff of nightmares? Cassie learns of Jamie's betrayal a month before they are to walk down the aisle. She is shattered, how could she not have seen this side of him before? So, what will she do - walk away pr get her revenge? It wouldn't be a fun story if she walked away would it. But you will have to read it to find out more.

Jess has captured the true heart break of Cassie and her determination to get even. So how do you destroy your husband? This book might give you ideas!!

Thank you to Kingsley Publishing and Jess for my advanced copy to read. Publishes on October 23rd.

I love domestic thrillers and this one seemed like it would have all the drama I was looking for. It did, but it didn’t. I flew through it in one sitting and I liked it but I feel like it was a firecracker that you expected to hear a big bang and only got a small whistle. It didn’t quite get where I thought it would go. If you’re looking for a quick, easy read this is for you.

Cassie Edwards is head over heels for her fiancé Jamie. With one month to go she is consumed with planning her wedding. After her friend shows her a photo of Jamie kissing a co-worker, Cassie’s world is turned upside down.

Cassie decides she’s not going to let Jamie get away with it and pretty soon she realizes that Jamie is lying about a whole lot more than just the numerous affairs. Blinded by hurt and anger, she is unprepared for the fallout of her quest for revenge.

How to Destroy Your Husband is available now.

Thank you to netgalley and kingsleypublishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

This is one of those books that you can’t really discuss outside of the synopsis, because there are so many twists and revelations. This is also one of those books that I just “wanted to start”, but I ended up finishing it in one sitting, despite having stuff to do. There was no way I could wait to see what happened next!

As we know from the synopsis, Cassie had sworn off love. She’d seen her friends be torn apart by relationships, and she wasn’t going down that road. Then, she met Jamie. A fellow teacher and someone she feels an electric connection with, Jamie is not like the other guys. He’s got a great job, great family, great personality, great everything, and they are set to be married in a month.

Then, a bombshell is dropped. A picture of Jamie with another woman is coming, and…I wouldn’t say it opens a can of worms. It’s more like a can of anacondas. The more Cassie digs, the more she finds. What the hell is all of this, and WHO IS THIS MAN?

The only other thing I can say is that this is five stars, hands down. As I mentioned, I couldn’t put it down, and it never got long-winded, even though it’s not a short book. The ending was fantastic - I had a few ideas of how this whole situation would play out, but I was totally wrong. This was gripping, entertaining, fun and definitely a page-turner. Loved it!

Genre ~ domestic thriller
Setting ~ UK
Publication date ~ October 23, 2022
Page Count ~ 350 (p+ 52 chapters +e)
Audio length ~ 9 hours 24 minutes
Narrator ~ Kim Bretton
POV ~ single 1st
Featuring ~ cheating fiance, revenge, secrets, lies, betrayal

Cassie is counting down the days until she's set to marry the love of her perfect life, Jamie. But then her friend shows her a picture of Jamie kissing another woman and thus sets forth a juicy plan for revenge.

I enjoy a revenge plot and I really liked her plan for revenge...mostly. There's quite a bit of money wasting and I'm never down with wastefulness, even in my fiction. We had a nice twist, but I felt like it took a long time to get there. I do wish she didn't get so hung up on who the affair was with without doing a little more research. I mean she did do a good amount of research for everything else, but not that part. Was not a big fan of the ending, either. All in all, middle of the road.

Side note ~ I do like the title, but feel like Fiance would be a better choice than Husband.

*Thanks, to the author, Kingsley Publishers and NetGalley for the ARC. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*

I was able to listen to an audio copy as well.

I am going to struggle to do this book justice.
During my read of this, I was consumed by it. Couldn't put it down, but when I did, I couldnt stop thinking about it and was desperate to get back to it. The pacing of the plot is just insanely fast.
The twists are crazy. I messaged several friends who I knew had finished it, as well as the author. I was SHOOK to my core.
The characters were unbelievably well written, I didn't know who to trust at any point. Cassie was likeable and the emotions were so clearly described, I went through them with her.
Whilst I suspected a little of the ending, the execution was absolutely sublime. I passed the point of no return last night and stayed up until the early hours to finish it.
I couldn't recommend this book any more. Just read it and thank me later!

I wait to feel a change within me, a niggling guilt telling me I’ve crossed a line, but it never comes. All I feel is the sweet sensation of jubilation.

Ah, revenge is a dish best served cold, and our protagonist Cassandra Edwards is the queen of revenge. This is basically an anatomy of the revenge trope and I loved it, especially how Cassie refused to be a victim of her misogynist fiancé. I sped through this read because I couldn't wait to see it all unfold.

This was so deliciously different and excitingly evil in the best way possible. This is something every hurt woman dreams of but Cassie doesn't just dream it, she plans it out in meticulous detail in the most spectacular way. But I did learn from this that maybe revenge isn't always the best way, does it take a little of your soul, or is it satisfying when the male chauvinist pig gets his due??

I did like that this seemed possible but the only thing I didn't buy was Cassie and Tara's relationship developed so quickly and how fast Tara jumped at the chance to help so fast and so much. I also figured out one of the big surprises at the end, the other I had no idea of, so that was a great surprise. I adored Cassie's friends, they really had her back and were the perfect side characters as they were so different from each other.

This is a psychological thriller in the truest sense of the word as Cassie goes nuts after finding out about Jamie and even crazier trying to exact her revenge. It is well-written, very engaging, written from the first-person perspective I like and the dramarama is very entertaining. This was such a satisfying domestic drama and I would read more of this author's work.

A fun revenge thriller with a feel-good vibe; best to be used as a relaxing, cushiony read between two serious books.

I knew I had to have my hands on this book as soon as I put my eyes on it because this kind of knowledge never hurts, you know what I mean. Also, if my husband is reading this (which is impossible because he won’t read anything I haven’t heavily pushed him to read), you don’t have to raise your eyebrows- the title is misleading, the couple isn’t married, yet, so it’s technically about how to destroy your boyfriend, and not husband, okay? 🫣

Cassie Edwards is marrying the love of her life, Jamie Patrick, in a month, and she still can’t believe her luck landing her the best man there is until the day she discovers that he is cheating on her. Determined not to victimise herself, she decides to uncover Jamie’s truth and plan the nastiest revenge to destroy him. However, as she follows the trail of his deception, she realises that this man is trouble.

I enjoyed the plot, but I never found myself seriously immersed in it. The characters weren’t fleshed out too well for me to believe them. The things that Cass did were too far drawn from what I would do. Also, Patrick’s journey from being the good guy to the worst kind of villain wasn’t organic, and I yearned to hear his side of the story. Nevertheless, it was still entertaining.

Overall, a quick, fun read!

Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC of How To Destroy Your Husband in exchange for an honest review.

Tbh, I was very excited to read this. The premise reminded me a lot of Gone Girl. If it isn't obvious, I must say it, I adored Gone Girl. So, of course, I had high expectations for this. That was my big mistake.

This was a huge disappointment. It has such an interesting premise, but the execution was terrible.
The pacing was very slow. The main issue was that there wasn't much of a mystery which made this very tedious.

Cassie as a protagonist lacked urgency. She had her moments but otherwise was quite bland. Jamie was simply a one-dimensional antagonist. He was annoying and revolting. Both of them weren't very nuanced.

One of my favourite aspects of a domestic thriller is the relationship between the main characters. But it wasn't done well here.

The ending was also very underwhelming and inconclusive. There was no proper resolution and it ended rather abruptly.

HOW TO DESTROY YOUR HUSBAND is a psychological/domestic thriller by bestselling author f Jess Kitching. Having loved her debut novel, “The Girl She Was Before”, I was eager to read her second novel. Another winner!

Her Novels Include:
The Girl She Was Before (2021) (Debut)
How to Destroy Your Husband (2022)

This is my review of How To Destroy Your Husband.

“A Picture is worth a thousand words.”

Cassie Edwards was in her late 20’s, single and childfree with no potential prospects in mind. Time was ticking by, and Cassie felt the pressure from her family to settle down. She thought she would never fall in love… but then she met Jamie. He changed everything, and Cassie’s never been happier.

The couple were to be married in one month, when someone showed Cassie a picture of Jamie kissing a colleague.

Cassie was heartbroken and felt betrayed. Blinded by rage, Cassie makes it her mission to seek revenge on the pair. Cassie decides to find out how long this cheating has been going on. She wants evidence. The game had just begun.

When Cassie looks deeper into her fiancé’s life, she soon realises being faithful isn’t the only thing he’s lying about.

Cassie soon learns just how little she knows about her man.

How far would you go to destroy your husband?

This was an excellent well written thriller that will appeal to a wide audience. This was definitely a page-turner. I Loved it!

There is always a ‘wonder if this will be as good as?’thought after a stunning debut and yes I did think this when starting the 2nd book by the author……..but it is staggeringly good,so good I had to stop myself going to the last chapter to see how it ended
We meet Cassie, loving, kind, soooo happy to be getting married Cassie…and we meet Jamie, equally loving and excited at the prospects of their fast advancing nupitals……but then a spiralling set of events after one revelation cause chaos, untold damage and the ruining of,well,everything…..just who is Jamie and who is Cassie in love with?,the truth will shock and anger you as much as it did me….and it keeps coming…it’s an emotive read and you can’t help but put yourself in Cassie’s shoes and ‘live the book’,every dramatic turn until the ending, and what an ending
It’s a really powerful read, one that will stay with me,sublime writing and storytelling and without doubt one of my favourite books this year, pure wonderfulness reading!

This is going to be a tough review for me. It is very rare for me to give a two to a book that I absolutely loved for the first half.

And it’s also rare, very rare, that a domestic thriller could make as upset as this one did.

Not that I’m telling you not to read it. In fact, much of the book is good and the writing is fantastic. That’s not the problem.

And here is another problem. To explain exactly why I rated it low, is going to require the use of spoilers. But first I’ll tell you what I liked about the book. I’ll let you know when spoilers come into the equation.

Cassie is all set to marry the man of her dreams. His name is Jamie, a particularly favorite name of mine.

Cassie is extremely jaded. She’s watched her friends get their hearts broken. In many cases it’s happened without warning. She’s watched how falling in love has drained many of the people that she loves. She harbors in icy resentment toward relationships in general and for a long time, her heart was not even open to love.

But you know how it is. She meets Jamie and in the blink of an eye everything changes.

Now she’s getting married and she couldn’t be happier. Finally the hard shell around her has melted. Finally, she has let love in.

Until she sees the picture. Of her fiancé and Tara.

Here’s the thing I wanna say about this book straight up. I think this had the potential to be a modern classic. Sure we have domestic thrillers all over the place, but rarely have I red one that gets the commentary about the rat race that is dating so very correct.

The writer captures the essence of how love could make even the most sane person crazy. And she also highlights how dating and relationships can come with degradation, and how competitive and cutthroat it can be. And how one person can think they’re happy, and in a good relationship, not knowing that they’re sleeping next to somebody who’s planning to leave them.

If the whole book had been like that, the book would be on my favorites list, and it would have five stars. But there was something that happened that bothered me so much and I see it bothers other reviewers as well, that I must talk about it now here comes the.

SPOILERS

I am going to quote a review. I saw on here by Cherlynn.

“This book hates women.”

It does.

I don’t know that I’ve ever been so appalled by an ending for domestic thrillers in my life. I don’t know what the writer was thinking if indeed there is a sequel then I apologize and I’ll up my rating.

Every single, beautiful, females soul, be it Cassie, or Anne or Tara is reduced to mush at the end. The incel gets away with it all.

I don’t know if this was supposed to be clever or cute, but the ending which consisted of a one page twist was horrible.

I get that many books end badly. Do you know how many thousands of books I’ve read that end badly? But this was another level altogether.

I felt the book was almost punishing. Women. My three favorite characters are beautiful giving females and are left broken at the end, Cassie, Tara and Anne.

In view of what’s happening in America today with Women slowly losing their rights and independence, it particularly grated on me. Not to mention the fact that I have met and dated incels myself although luckily, none as bad as Jamie. Not to mention the fact that the whole book was leading up to Cassie, taking back her independence and instead the Book ends basically with Cassie soul being crushed at the end by the incel , who is busy laughing at her and then it’s the end.

Numerous reviewers, have commented on the ending. It was deeply emotionally, upsetting and very unwelcome so yes, I took three points off for the ending something
I don’t think I’ve ever done with a book before.

This was so good throughout much of it! I don’t know what the message we are supposed to take away is. Don’t even try? Men rule, so give it up , Women? I think the writing was great, but I can’t in good conscience, pretend to like the ending or pretend that it wasn’t insane.

I want to feel empowered when I read about women . This didn’t make me feel empowered. It made me feel defeated.

Cassie is about to marry Jamie but she finds out he’s cheating on her. Does she call off the wedding? Does she break up with him? This one kept me up late at night wanting to know what revenge, if any, she had in store for him. Jamie made me want to throw the book across the room a few times because he was a piece of work! A few twists throughout made this a great book to devour in 2 days. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. To be published 10/2022.

Cassie has the perfect life, with a wonderful fiance and great job. A life she could never have dreamed of. But with less than a month before her wedding, she finds her finance is cheating. Rather than just dumping him, she wants revenge and a twisted adventure unfolds with Cassie delving deeper into Jamie's background, making her realise she barely knows this man she is meant to marry.

This was such a page turner and so entertaining in seeing the lengths Cassie went to in order to exact her revenge. As the story goes along there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing and towards the end I could not put this down! Another fabulous instalment by the author.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Kingsley Publishers for this gifted review copy.

If you’re looking for a page-turning revenge thriller, then you need to grab a copy of “How to Destroy Your Husband.” Cassie and Jamie are a month away from tying the knot when Cassie find out Jamie is cheating on her with a fellow teacher. Well! Cassie is not about to let Jamie make a fool out of her, and she’s plotting to dish out some very public payback. But the more Cassie digs into what Jamie’s been up to, the more she finds out she never really knew Jamie at all. Who is her fiancé really, and is he just unfaithful or are his secrets far more sinister?

I picked up this book solely on the cool title, and I’m so glad I did! Jess Kitching is a new author to me, and she does not disappoint! The writing style is fun and conversational, adding a charming levity to this tense psychological thriller. Cassie is understandably vindictive and sometimes unlikeable, but so skillfully drawn that you can’t help but root for her to take Jamie down! Jamie is a steaming hot pile of human garbage that deserves every iota of revenge Cassie can muster and then some. I would have loved a little more of his backstory to round out his despicable character, but overall I enjoyed the heck out of this twisty tale.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Kingsley Publishers for providing me an advance copy of this book.

This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. Overall a fun, quick read!

What would you do if you were shown a picture of your fiance kissing another woman right before your wedding? "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned". Cassie refused to be a victim and started plotting her revenge. I really hated Jamie and couldn't wait to see him go down. Revenge is a dish best served cold.

I enjoyed this book and looked forward to the revenge being doled out. I would definitely read more from this author!

Cassie has always been cynical about love. Jamie changed all that. As their wedding day looms, Cassie is devastated to discover that Jamie is a cheater. She's not just sad and heartbroken, she's angry.

'How to Destroy your Husband' is an easy read. Although I did find it a slow starter, it definitely makes you want to find out how it all ends.

Is revenge sweet, or is it just another bitter pill to swallow?

Get Your Witchy On! 😳😯🤯😳🤯

The absolute best revenge thriller novel I've read! Cass is literally who I wanted to be after a few long-term relationship break ups! She's like my alter spirit animal ego! I already adored and loved Kitching's debut novel, but this? Oh lordie love a duck, this one is even better & more sumptuous! I'm not kidding - I completely emerged myself & indulged on this divine novel like I did on this past Thanksgiving weekend with Turkey & all the fixin's. That ending? For the love of Halloween chocolate & spooky costumes! I mean... fireworks folks! Fireworks!! The absolute ugliness, the unbelievable insanity! I mean talk about taking the breath right out of you with a sucker punch. Believe me when I say this is a book you want to sink your teeth into! Kitching is turning into a literary genius and I am all for it!

Mყ 𝐒ყɴ𝐨ρѕιѕ: All is fair in love & revenge... right? Cassie is getting married just a month away to an incredible man, Jamie. Ironically, Cassie was against love. And now she is again, after seeing evidence of Jaime cheating. Most would break it off then and there. But Cassie? She embarks on a determined, rage-fuelled expedition of finding out the truth and uncovering every lie to make him pay.

Thank you to NetGalley & Kingsley Publishers for this ARC.

2.5/5 = I was so disappointed with this story because it ended up being just another unmemorable, boring read. The premise and the plot twist were so promising, but the story fell flat for me because there wasn’t enough solid storytelling supporting the premise or the twist.

The ending definitely left me with a raised eyebrow because I’d be a big enough sucker to read a sequel, praying the author gives us a better story with more depth and excitement next time.

I started off thinking I knew where this was going but page after page I was discovering I was very very wrong. I thought Cassie had the wrong end of the stick at the start (no spoilers here, If you read the blurb unlike me, you’d know where the story was heading 😂). How can a person you thought you knew be so so different. JAMIE IS A SCUMBAG!!
Being in the position of planning a wedding myself I felt really sorry for Cassie through out and was desperate to see if she got her revenge. I couldn’t put this down once I got half way, I HAD to know how this was going to end!
So if you want to know if Jamie the little rat got his comeuppance or not you will just have to get the book and read for yourselves. How to Destroy Your Husband is out now!!!

I’M SORRY???? IS THERE NO BOOK TWO?!?! HELLO????

I literally devoured this book, WOW. This is for sure going to be the new book I recommend to everyone. I literally forced my boyfriend to listen to the ENTIRE plot of the book because I am obsessed.

The deception, lies, the INTRIGUE. I am mindblown. This is such an insane story and is honestly such a good book to read when you’re hitting a reading slump or need a quick palette cleanser! It genuinely keeps you on the edge of your seat and occupies ALL your thoughts until you finish.

The story is about Jamie and Cassie, a seemingly happy and in-love couple. However, behind the mask of it all, Jamie is literally (like literally) a psychopath. This is going to be one of my only book reviews without spoilers because I genuinely want my followers to read this book SO bad!! I need to talk about it to someone!! Marina if you’re reading this, PLEASE READ IT!!!

This book also freaked me out because no matter how much you can know someone, you’ll never truly know them. This book was SO well-written!! I will be reading the other two books by this author, immediately!

What would you do if you caught your husband cheating? This book came at just the right time because I love a good thriller to mix things up between romance books, especially during spooky season. This is a new to me author and it looks like it’s only her second book but she packed some twists in here like a long time suspense pro right up until the last page. The pace is slow at first but picks up incredibly fast and I absolutely needed to know what was going to happen next because everyone was nuts lol. The MC’s decisions definitely had me side eyeing her during the read but it was like an impending car crash I had to watch. I would def recommend for readers new to the thriller genre or looking for a domestic thriller as opposed to a darker one.

Special thanks to Kingsley Publishers for sharing an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I was so excited to receive this e-arc, because I love a good revenge story!

I had a few theories about what was going to happen early on, but none of them were right which I'm always happy to find out! I found the first 40% of the book pretty slow, to be honest. Cass didn't handle things quite like I would have, and I found the revenge Cass had planned to be much simpler than I was led to believe.

Things did pick up after the 40%-mark though, and I was wound up in suspense for the rest of the book (it was stressful! haha).

Overall it was okay. My husband was uncomfortable with the title (maybe thinking it was an instructional guide or something), which entertained me greatly!

Umm, wow. Just...... wow. No words.... and yet, all the words.

First, let me start with: Thank you to the author! I was provided a widget for this novel by a reader in a Netgalley group that said the author approved the sharing of the widget with the group. The title grabbed me and I thought "why the heck not? I'm already struggling to get to 80%" LOL So thank you to Jess Kitching & Kingsley Publishers via Netgalley for this read.

Next: that first chapter immediately drew me in! It is, cleverly, titled 'The End' and made the whole book feel like a volcano building pressure to this eruption. If you want to hear the author read the first chapter you can find that on Instagram.

But, conversely: the very LAST chapter (really the last couple paragraphs) was one of those that made me shout "WHAT THE FUCK!" I immediately threw down my Kindle and told my husband "I need to talk about that" (so if you need a bookish friend to discuss with, I'm your girl because he just doesn't understand).

I can see some reviewers wondering why Cass didn't just leave Jamie and say her decisions were reckless; and while some of them were, I think her mindset of not wanting him to be able to hurt other women is clear. She gets into some real shit and I wondered if she was going to make it out alive. The thrill was real.

I don't think I've read anything in quite some time with a character at this level of absolute human garbage. Jamie is the worst of the worst. He is so well-written as the largest asshole, that I found my heartrate elevated when I thought about the shit he was up to. A misogynistic, narcissistic, womanizing abuser; he is just straight up terrible, horrible, no good.

Short, tension-filled chapters, the apprehension of not knowing how this will play out for Cass...all great aspects. I thoroughly 'enjoyed' this (lol, maybe not the right word as I spent half the novel pissed off) and found myself invested in the outcome. 4+ stars from me.

Overview: This book! Granted it's not a violent murdery thriller (my favourite) but the tension and storyline in this book is nothing but brilliant. I was hooked from the start (and who wouldn't be after that starting chapter!) I was literally rooting for Cassie from the start (even though some of her methods are somewhat...hmm...crazy?) And I so wanted to see her rip Jamie to pieces and then...it all goes wrong and I was left with the decision to either take my son swimming or stay home and finish this book (I chose the latter...my husband took him swimming!)

Good Points: The character development is really detailed in this despite it all being told from Cassie's POV. Jamie literally creeped me out big time and I was practically laughing at her plan of destroying him. The writing is easy to read and totally absorbing.

Not so Good Points: Nothing really. I loved it all. The only two minor things I'll say is that I'm gutted it ended where it did because I could have easily read more and also the title is about destroying your husband...yet he isn't actually her husband.

Still a fantastic 5 star read with a gripping storyline and heart pounding climax! Read this book!
