Book 16 and still going strong.
I love this series, it’s always a welcome light change. Humour, completely OTT storyline and Peaches aka The Mighty Peaches.

Stand near me, bondmate of the Mighty Peaches. I will take you where you need to go. I sighed. This Mighty Peaches thing was going to be an issue.

Let’s be honest here I’d read these books for Peaches alone.

This is more of the usual. Extremely powerful foe our heroes need to power up which always comes with issues. Usually involving more powering up or powerful friends.

Great fun.

Great author surprise! Fantastic novel!

Orlando Sanchez doesn’t disappoint. Again, he writes a fun urban fantasy story filled with hijinks, snark, action, serious moments, friendship, family and love. The way he manages to combine all of these elements so easily is what makes him a truly amazing author.

We are used to Monty growing in power. This time it’s going to be a little bit different. Monty will grow a bit. However, I recommend that you read the book for more. You won’t regret it.

A special thanks for the Authors Notes! You might find more of the story in them. The author took his precious time to explain to his readers his thought process regarding plot lines in this book. It answers questions you might have as you read this book and it contains some special insights. I don’t know many authors who go out of their way to explain to (and/or apologize to) readers within a novel. It’s a special treat that only Orlando Sanchez would go out of his way to do. Just another reason his work is so special.

I highly recommend Revenant, the 16th Monty, Strong and Peaches adventure. I look forward to many more.

Revenant, A Montague and Strong Detective Novel, peopleby Orlando A Sanchez is nonstop action and intrigue.
Gosh, Monty and Simon survived the Stormblood, but now they have other problems arising from it. Big problems. TK and LD help but there is only just so much that they can do. And now a new horror is attacking the city. A Revenant! (I think that the title gave this away!)
Some other old friends make an appearance, and Simon does something unexpected.
Of course Peaches helps the duo. He is especially generous with his healing saliva.
Do things get blown up? Is it Monty and Strong’s fault? You decide.
Resistance is futile!
This book is a must read!

Wouldn't you know it, the Trio of Terror destroyed the wrong thing on a previous adventure. Extenuating circumstances aside, actions have consequences and no good deed goes unpunished. The unintentionally unleashed is a power with world-shaking ramifications rendering M&S out of their league, but of course they are the ones that must fix this apocalyptic oops. Seeking help from both familiar and new faces, they embark on a whirlwind of action and reaction, cause and effect, denied the ability to breathe, stop, run, or balk. A pedal-to-the-metal story if I've ever read one.

M&S find out the hard way that setting off a forbidden rune in the previous book has consequences. It freed a revenant, an undead necromancer, who is obligated to kill our heroes.
Another fun filled and destruction laden novel involving the deadly duo and Peaches, the bottomless stomach. Meat is life!

This book gets a five.

First I want to say that I'm glad I hung on. TBH, I am mostly reading to see where Simon's powers go. It's tough reading him throughout the series so far because of the very issues I stated in the review for book 12.

I was extremely skeptical about whether Monty would *ever* be held accountable for his arrogance and his poor decision making and over-confidence. The way he continued to gaslight Simon (and the other mega powerful characters in the game that seemed to think that Simon should be held solely responsible for Monty's bad decisions and overconfidence) was extremely tiring.

The author pulled that out of the fire admirably. Due to events in the book, Simon has been pulled deeper into the supernatural world as both he and Monty level up. It's because of Simon that they don't die during these events.

And it's because of Monty's bad decisions and his arrogance that brought them to that point. The saving grace is that FINALLY the megapowerful characters lay all that shit at Monty's feet, accusing him of being overconfident and arrogant and that he's still a child in their eyes (only a couple of centuries old...) and he still has a lot to learn. They're FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY laying all that shit on Monty instead of trying to blame Simon.

Simon is finally coming into his own. The past few books have shown Simon finally growing a spine and giving pushback that wasn't on the order of a Benny Hill episode and actually being competent at what he's doing.

Plus...Monty does apologize to Simon for his poor decisions and dragging Simon into a world where the stakes of the game have just blown the roof off. Thank goodness for that.

Because...I finally figured out why I was just enraged at Monty and the other characters kept trying to blame Simon. Monty and everyone else were gaslighting him. Big time. Monty, his best friend, his brother, NEVER came to his defense when the megapowers were laying all that at Simon's feet. Simon is responsible for Monty's bad decisions. Simon is responsible for Monty going off the cuff and doing shit that was bringing a rain of pain on both their heads as Simon stumbled along behind him watching his best friend/brother slowly tipping to the dark side while Monty assured him he was just being paranoid. Simon should have stopped him, even though Monty was in full denial he was tripping along a dangerous path.

Until Monty overreached in the worst possible way and called to account for it.

Oh sure, he may have made half hearted attempts at an apology along the way in earlier books but they were weak. This time, he was actually apologetic. And finally recognized that the shitstorm that is their life? It was mostly his doing. I'm not saying Simon was innocent, but he wasn't as culpable as he was accused for 14 damn books.

So I was very glad to see the character growth for both Simon and Monty.

I'll continue to follow the book further since I'm finally seeing Simon start to mature a little. As long as he doesn't lapse into a Warner Bros cartoon, and he learns to come to grips with what's happening to him, to them both, I'mma stick with it because, in the end, I'm interested in where the events finally take Simon...regardless of how annoying he is.

And I want to see Peaches grow up into his own full power and form.

WOW!!! I thought or said that a LOT while reading this book!! EVERYTHING about this book is AWESOME!!! OMG!!! The dialogue !!! That's what I love MOST about this book and EVERYTHING by this author!! It is entertaining on its own!!! Funny, HILARIOUS, BUST out laughing , somber even a few times. The fight scenes and technical stuff, that I usually AVOID in ANY BOOK, movie ANYTHING, is RIVETING!!! and that's from a person who USED to HATE that kind of stuff and SKIP over it ASAP . THIS author though!!! He could write a user manual for a carburetor--the most boring thing I can think of, and I'm sure it would be entertaining and funny as heck, as well as informative!!
The Revenant is a SUPER CHARGED installment of an incredible series!! The characters are fleshed out so that you would swear they were real people and you'd definitely want to be able to call them a friend!! I'd LOVE to know them!! and I feel like I do just after one book, but I've read every single one of this series!! each one MORE than a few times!! There are VALKARIES!!! old world gods, and incredible WORLDS and vistas that I could never imagine before. I could go on but I'll stop WITH :::: This is a MUST READ!!

Revenant is another winner from Orlando Sanchez. Monty and Simon have survived the Stormblood, but Monty has unknowingly contributed to the emergence of a Revenant, plus he's upset a lot of people with his use of a lost elder blood rune, and Simon still has a target on his back as a Marked of Kali. As if they don't have enough on their plate, the Revenant must kill them both to steal their life forces to be completely free. The Revenant is a danger to the world if completely freed, not to mention that Monty and Simon want to keep breathing. Their only option is to face the creature, hopefully on their terms, not his and destroy him. But the Revenant is a powerful necromancer and our desperate duo will have to enlist help to fight fire with fire. They'll look for an assist from a god, depend on the ever-present Peaches, and round up all the help they can to meet a force who is stronger than Monty and Simon together. If you like urban fantasy with breathless action, suspense, imaginative characters, hellhounds, and snarky dialog - pick up this book! Better yet, start out with Tombyards & Butterflies and get hooked on the whole series.

This series is a lot of fun. If you have ever read any of the Montague and Strong series you know what to expect. There are big bad powerful threats that Montague and Strong have to stop. They take desperate measures to power up to face these threats (which of course are usually life-threatening) than there are several big confrontations, lots of explosions and buildings are destroyed.

In this latest one Montague and Strong are bond closer together because of magical hijinx to get stronger and release something in the process that has to kill them to be free. Now, they have faced old gods so this didn't register as big a threat to me as some of their past foes but it seems it was way up there. Also, there weren't quite as many national or internationally famous buildings destroyed as usual. It was somewhat tame in comparison to some books.

Still, a lot of fun. And some more power evolutions, things revealed and a new twist I didn't see coming. Exactly what you expect from Sanchez. And don't forget Peaches, the hell-hound. Life is Meat! Or should that be Meat is Life? LOL.

☆☆ SPOILER ALERT ☆☆

Simone is irritating, but Roxanne is the type of person that I would uninvite to a party.
Yes, she's a Doctor, but the way she talks to people like they are her unappreciative children is very trying.

Simone is so dumb I have to stop the story every so often, so I don't throw my tablet across the room.
How many stories before he adapts to his current life that he chose himself? Yes, yes many things are outside of his control. That's what happens when you fight above your weight class. You start believing that you are the only one to stop the world-ending crisis after you found luck where there seems to be none.
I am not a Mage - OK, we heard you now shut up!

The writer must think it's cute to have Simone sass the Gods and Goddesses he encounters.
By now it's a mental diagnosis with lethal conditions.

Also.

Why does he repeat everything someone says to him 95% of the time?

I love the idea of magical detectives but parts of these stories always leave me unhappy and unsatisfied.

Grow a little Simone, unclench Monty, and back off Roxanne.

Back from the Stormblood ritual, Monty and Simon find there are consequences to what York has done with the ties that bind. It's not enough that Simon Marked of Kali is being hunted down now a Revenant has come through with the ritual and is trying to kill both Monty and Simon. Knowing they can't let the Revenant become totally free in the world but not knowing how to send it back, they will need the wisdom and help from some very powerful friends. LD, TK, Dex, Hades, and a few others. You'll stay actively involved with the story while learning about the Revenant, magic, and traveling on the planes. Simon, Monty & Peaches will make sure of that with all the destruction and accidents that follow this trio. This series is a wonderfully fun, entertaining escape. Totally enjoyed the book and can't wait to see what the Blood Lessons entail!.

A Death ride

If you have made it this far in the Montague and Strong series, you are a fan. From the very first book, I knew I would love these stories, and this one does not disappoint. Action packed, like they all are, but now our “heros” fight s real nasty. A Revenant. M&S are summoned by TK and LD. TK is not happy and Strong only makes it worse. They find out that their las escaped, released a Revenant and that it is after them. They must go to the deepest depths of hell to ask for help, only to find out that they are in way over their heads. A lot of our favorite characters that we have not seen in a while make an appearance in this book. And, we get to see Peaches in action. Lastly Orland Sanchez always says: “You keep reading…I’ll keep writing.” To this I say, You keep writing and I’ll keep reading.

It Just Keeps Getting Better!

We're on Book 16 and it still feels like a ramp up! Monty and Simon ate out here grinding to level up. It feels too fast and not fast enough at the same time. I'm starting to feel a little bad for Simon. But then I remember what a smartass he is and I stop. I just know he, Monty and Peaches ate going to be the same of evil!s existence for a LONG time.

I could say again how much i love this world and these characters, but really i just want to say thank you to Mr. Sanchez. These books are reminding me why i fell in love with reading in the first place. It's been a while since i truly longed to sot down and read but I do with these books. On to the next!

Not a restful escape into urban fiction

Reading the tales of Monty, Simon & Peaches is not a restful escape into urban fiction. The banter, the mayhem and destruction of property created by Orlando Sanchez makes me appreciate my boring (not boring, I’ve got kids) life. What I don’t have is an almost Archmage, The Marked of Kali (not a friend of Karma) and a ravenous hellhound puppy with explosion control issues until I read these books. Sixteen books into the Montague and Strong Series has given me a bevy of supernatural and hard to kill characters. I look forward to the next novel and hope to not have another cliffhanger ending unless I’m watching a children’s cartoon. “Can’t. Hold. On. Much. Longer..”

No audio. So disappointing

I did not read Revenant because of no audiobook available. I have read and listened to 1-15 books in this series but Sanchez stopped the audio at.book #16. Why oh why did he do this. The audio by Kevin T. Cooling was excellent. He made the stories so rich and humorous. So much is lost in just the written translation. I'm really upset because this was my favorite series. I even continued with the books that are not synced , which is so annoying, but because the narrator is so good I stuck with it. I don't understand why he does not have audiobook with his other books ,most good author do, and he is a good author.

Tristan and Simon are up to their necks in this latest installment by Orlando Sanchez. They have been linked by a Stormblood from the previous mess they had to handle and that opened a door to release a revenant named Fel, a necromancer that had been sealed by a lost elder good rune, never meant to be used again. Now the pair must ask for help from a retired necromancer living in Hades in order to eliminate the newest problem dogging their heels! And of course, there's lots of Peaches for all of us!

Revenant, the latest in the Montague and Strong novels, is another Orlando Sanchez classic.
Continuing on from Stormblood we see Monty, Strong and Peaches dealing with the consequences of their actions once more. Even if this time it really isn't their fault will New York survive?
Revenant is a fast-paced action-adventure full of wit and mayhem.
A great addition to this exceptional series. Next please!

Peaches and Death abound

Simon is like a character in a complex RPG setting. He manages to gain all sorts of power via weapons and other means yet doesn't know how to fully use each before the next power gain. Of course, the M&S reign of collateral damage is continuing to rise to the level of super heroes. Monty isn't left out and Peaches is, well, Peaches. The various incarnations of death related beings makes this one of the best stories in the series.

Mind-boggling ... but more than usual !

Orlando Sanchez brought his writing game up another level - just as he had leveled up Monty, Simon, and Peaches - and I'm already anxiously awaiting his next book in this series. The ending of this book (no spoilers here!) really has me intrigued about what's in store for Simon, most of all. Read, or reread, the whole series so you're ready for what will undoubtedly be ANOTHER step upward, onward, inward, and outward for our Trio.

Amazing Story Continuity

16 stories in and still going strong… Usually a series gets repetitive and formulaic, BUT NOT THIS ONE! From the first story to this one the story grows and builds and is ever more fun to read. This level of world building is on par with the greatest of storytellers, playwrights, and movie folk…

The question isn’t if the series is good, the question is why aren’t you reading it yet?!

The Mighty Hellhound

A good dose of humour has me addicted to our authors books. I think I’m up to date but can’t wait until the next one. Thoroughly entertaining and addictive. I can’t believe there are 16 books in this series alone, with others shooting off in their own direction with characters we meet along the way. It is a testament to the writing genius of Orlando that I still want to read more. Thank you.

Monty and Simon to the rescue again

The books keep getting better and better, poor Simon keeps getting drug deeper and deeper into a world he isn’t ready for. What will his outcome be, will he be a truly supreme mage or will everything finally end him. In this book we are introduced to necromancers one to save everyone and one to destroy everyone. Simon and Monty as always are trying to save their city from evil

Superb

If I read an m&s book where Simon didn't get battered , I would be reading the wrong series .
Absolutely loved the story , loved the Hades angle & the daddy issues with Cerberus , I'm sure that will pop up again ... don't piss off a goddess whatever you do children ...it never ends well , dark Valkyries .. very interesting.

Stepping up

Boy, Simon really plays a key role in this one & leave it to him to be fairly clueless doing it. He is learning though and it would seem his learning just got advanced. There's a real sense of honor that runs thru these stories and Simon really tries to embody that. More information is coming and it's going to be quite the roller coaster ride going forward.

Mighty Peaches?

Monty and Simon and Peaches take the next steps now that they inadvertently unleashed the Revenant. Old friends are visited to help understand how to stop the him. New friends are made and the battle goes from an island on the coast of Italy back to New York The fun is just starting. The pace is fast and furious. Loved it.

Still a fan

And I think I will be until the end. I look forward to each installment and usually speed my way through in a day.

Any time anyone asks me for a recommendation for an urban fantasy series, Montague & Strong is always at or very near the top of the list. I don’t see enough people recommending this amazing series of fun and destruction.
