I am not even completely done with this book but I needed to get this review out NOW so hopefully more people would get this book!!! With clear and direct advice, an intuitive layout, a relatable writing style, and a unique aesthetic, Tomlinson has crafted the perfect book for people who have a bit of money trauma. Finances can be so confusing and advice is often demeaning or underhanded, but Cash is Queen has helped me understand topics that were otherwise confusing and stressful and Davinia Tomlinson has helped me in my relationship to money. If you're looking for the perfect pocket book to look up something quick or a deep dive into what the monetary world around you looks like, Cash is Queen delivers. A great addition to any bookshelf.

Cash is Queen by Davinia Tomlinson and illustrated by Andrea Oerter is a handy, information packed book written specially for young women about all things finance.

The book is designed to help women around the world gain more knowledge and understanding about money, their spending habits and how they can take control of their income.

The book is written incredibly accessibly, with complex things like stock markets simplified and made much more engaging due to the formatting of the book.
I love how practical the book is - it makes learning about things such as stock markets interesting and engaging as well as easy to follow and actually apply.

As a second year university student, this was the perfect book to help me understand different types of money ‘personalities’ can influence personal relationships and my outlook on money as well as how I can better save my money to get the most out of spending it.

It's a really educational book about how to handle your money, your financial personality, about setting goals, long and short term and what to watch out for or be aware of. This book talks about gender bias, like males are encouraged to learn investing like the stock market and real estate and women, more household budgeting and how to save money on groceries. The table is cleared the author teaches everything you could imagine about money.
Cash is Queen is the perfect, brief guide on all thing’s money, aimed at teenage girls. It covers the basics on the sometimes-daunting topic, in an accessible, fun way. The language used makes it highly readable, whilst delivered in an upbeat manner.
There is a real emphasis on how important it is to have a positive mindset when it comes down to taking charge of your money. The way Cash is Queen is packaged, in terms of layout, design and illustrations is so charming and striking, which helps to deliver such a heavy topic in a really digestible format.
I would give this book 4 stars because it was an extremely helpful book but the colour layout of some of the pages was hard to read. I would recommend this to any young girls that are looking to have some control in their future with their money.

A few things where not around when I was young like crypto currently.
I wish I had this book when I was much younger. Even the credit ratings are addressed. A great book for teens.

In high school, I had a great teacher for Business Mathematics, he taught us with experiment, the laws of probability. I almost that was covered in this book too. There was a news story this morning about how many families are hurt by participating in lotteries when they cannot afford it. If they had been in the class that I had, they would never do any gambling. It is not likely that you will win.

I love the graphics but found a few pages difficult to read when there was black print on a dark color, like deep blue or purple. If the author and illustrator decide to do another book, they might want to consider the ease of reading black type against darker backgrounds. Over all, I highly recommend this book and anyone who needs basic finanical knowledge.

It's never too early to talk to young people about money, and Davinia Tomlinson (author) and Andrea Oerter (illustrator) do a great job covering the basics about earning, budgeting, saving, and investing money. They also address a few nuances, such as the psychology behind what, how, and why people spend. Some content is specifically directed at young women, such as statistics about differences in earnings, savings, and investments by women vs men. There is also a section about financial abuse, but that crime, unfortunately, can happen do anyone. While the book is directed at young women, readers of all genders and ages can benefit from it.

the book is organized into 12 chapters, each stuffed full of great concepts, examples, and visuals. For example, Chapter Five "Investing 101: Slow and Steady Wins the Race" talks about the pros and cons of saving vs investing; defines assets by proving examples; and briefly explains the stock market, cryptocurrency, and NFTs. Throughout out the main narrative are several textboxes labeled "Activity" to help readers apply the chapter's concepts. Drawings appear on nearly every page as a way to help pull the reader into the technical detail while also giving readers a break as they move from topic to topic.

The last chapter is a checklist, which is organized as a review, which frequently uses the book's chapter names as the headers for the review.

The back matter includes a glossary and acknowledgement.

As a female in her early thirties, I was genuinely curious to see if I could learn anything new about money as I’ve always shied away from the subject. (So overwhelming!) I would say that I definitely gained some good take-aways from the book, even though I wasn’t exactly the intended audience. It would be amazing to see some spin off versions of Cash is Queen, for sure! This book should have a place in school libraries everywhere, alternatively it would make a lovely gift to help empower the young women of today.

Cash is Queen is a fantastic introduction to money for young girls. I wish something like this had been available when I was younger (and that I'd read it). It teaches girls how to set financial goals (both long and short term), recognize their (and their friends') money personality, and to live within their means. The illustrations are fun and make the book more interesting to read. The information presented is clear and direct and addresses current issues, such as "cashlighting" and text scams. It also touches on the fact that women live longer and make less so saving is harder/more important for us. My 8 year old niece recently told me to "just put it on the credit card" for something at least $50,000 the other day and I tried to explain the financial consequences of doing something like that to help her have other money scripts. I think the book is written a little above her reading level right now, but I'm definitely saving it for her to read soon!

This is a solidly appealing and authoritative approach to helping girls/young women to understand economics on a personal, relevant level while gaining better understanding of the social/politcal realities of our economy as well.
The structure of the book is conducive to indecent reading OR very effective organization for an actual class text or even an economic-club group that could be self-0directed. Adult women have been doing this for years, so encouraging younger girls to do the same would be a welcome project.
The color graphics, diverse depictions, varied scenarios, and activity prompts all take into account a wide range of personalities, backgrounds, inc0me levels, and community types.

The chapters are separated so that everything fits, although at first I thought, why does this come first?
There are exercises and practical examples that help to understand what they have just explained to us.
With an easy, simple and in some moments impressive language.
It has helped me understand certain things about the economy and saving.
The drawings and the structure are a good incentive to read.

Davinia Tomlinson has 15 years experience in investment management and professional services. This is a comprehensive guide to money management for readers aged 9+ (illustrated by Andrea Oerter) that is specifically aimed at girls but while there is some solid advice here, I felt that the cryptocurrency section undersold the risks, there is an assumption that readers are starting with some money and the layout was at times difficult to read.

Awesome! This book was obviously written for teens, so the language used and the concepts addressed definitely reflect that. However, as I am just starting my financial literacy journey I appreciated the handholding lol. While I did know more than I learned from this book, I liked the refresher on basic concepts and the added context. Highly recommend to anyone with teenage girls in their life.
